Hi! Could your tell me tell me how this device is? In general; battery, is it realy good? Camera, please? Radio signal? Thanks
Not to buy... Battery life is decent, but radio signal suc**! Still own an OPO and considering back to it as daily driver again because of weak cellular signal.

It also depends on if you plan to root/unlock bootloader. Stock itself isn't exactly the best. Audio is pretty solid compared to many phones. Stock UI could use some improvements. Battery life on stock was not as good as stock on my HTC 10. (I've rooted and unlocked and ran a couple different mods to improve battery/performance). Camera is also average but good enough in most situations. I live close to the city so I never have crappy signal so I can't really say anything on that. The biggest plus is audio and since I live for my music I'm happy.
Keep it, sound is solid, signal was abysmal for me on B20, B27 improved a lot, performance is solid and the screen is beautiful to look at. Battery is pretty good IMO.
Now if you like to tinker with your phone get a OP3, much better support and community

I personally do not own this device; yet. I'm holding out on purchasing to see how the community develops. But, after extensive research; here's what I found:
Pros:
Excellent 1440p AMOLED screen on par with flagship phones.
Shatter proof screen and aluminum body should help against falls.
Top of the line processor.
Good enough RAM at 4GB.
Quick Charging.
Front facing, HiFi speaker setup that puts flagships to shame. Not to mention internal 32-bit DAC is great for studio headphones!
Expandable storage, or dual sim.
Lots of LTE bands.
Passport 2.0 Warranty for the U.S.
Cons:
Reports of bad WiFi/Cellular signal (do note that people have confirmed it has gotten better with B27 firmware).
Demonstrations of sub-par camera quality in low-light conditions (do note that some have showed 'better' results with manual tweaking).
Photos are less sharp/have an 'impressionist' effect when compared to similar phones, i.e. OnePlus 3 or Huwaei Honor 8.
Although there is an official bootloader unlock, it voids the otherwise awesome warranty.
MiFavor (or MiFlavor?) version of android has some quirks and otherwise intrusive/unpractical aspects to it (most notably the notification bell).
Poor support from third parties (as of yet, no confirmed tempered glass screen protector that fits properly, no cases from recognized companies (poetic has recently released their 'revolution' series of cases for this phone, Spigen will soon release their 'rugged armor' lineup only).
Poor XDA community developement when compared to similar phones like the OnePlus 3 (may change in the future).
Another thing to note is that ZTE has been listening to their community and has active presence in their ZTE community forums. They are also expected to release another update for the phone 'soon' if trends continue. Hope this helps!
EDIT#1:
Wowie, right as I posted my reply, THIS shows up. Hopefully this fixes the lack of a proper XDA community when compared to the OnePlus 3

The article you linked is from 19th September. It is still extremely uncertain whether ZTE is actually supporting ROM development for the Axon 7.
Bootloader is unlocked on the USA version. But it is not yet clear how good the quality of ROMS will be for this device.

It depends on what version you can get. The North American model (A2017U) is outstanding. Granted I had to turn of VoLTE but once I did this gets the best signal reception I have ever had. Sound quality is far and away the best both out of the speakers and out of the 3.5mm jack. It has a QHD screen, SD card support, and is only $400.
The European model (A2017G) is full of software bugs and defects. Poor signal reception, speakers degrade, no bootloader unlock (as of yet) and poor warranty service (if any service at all).
In the US and Canada, this phone is definitely a buy. In Europe, this phone is a joke
dont know is it just me that i find mifavour is quite old skool looking UI , AMOLED screen is a plus for me
I have the OnePlus3 but I have really been considering this phone. So on the fence about it. I guess I am going to lean towards not getting it. With ZTE holding out on us then development will be abysmal.

Yep, I'm starting to like this phone less and less.
What the OP3 has over this:
Low-Light camera performance for sure, arguably better camera overall.
Bootloader unlock does not void warranty.
MUCH more XDA developement.
MUCH more 3rd party support (cases, etc).
What the Axon7 has over OP3:
Higher resolution
Expandable storage
Audio (Both HiFi speakers and DAC)
U.S.A Passport 2.0 warranty (void after bootloader unlock. smh).
REALLY hope this phone sees more updates and more activity here on XDA.

Speakers are same in all version.
You cannot turn VoLTE off because it is the only option in G version currently.
Daydream support
I haven't seen anyone mention that the Axon 7 is one of the few phones currently available that support Google's Daydream VR system. This is going to be a big deal.

looking to buy the oneplus x soon and was wondering if there are any common issues. heat, lag, camera, battery life, build quality, speakers, etc...
Its either this or the honor x pretty much. I plan to use it on tmobile ( b4 lte in my area) and stock. I'm leaning towards the oneplusx because of stock android and i dont need the fingerprint scanner. I'm coming from a vivo air lte so I dont mind the front and back glass. would love qi charging but I'm guessing a case and the few wireless receivers i have would do the trick if need be. honor 5x has a better gpu and stereo speakers but that's about it.
things I'm looking for: some gaming, light and non-bulky, stock android, battery life, speakers.
your thoughts or any other recommendations?
Actually technically the X has a better GPU. As for which device is better it really depends on whether you want yo wait for Oxygen to mature and have a better device than the 5 or if you'd rather have a decent phone right now. I'm going to recommend the X, but that said, Oxygen isn't really mayute. I recommend tunning with CM 13 as it doesn't void the warranty. I'll even help you get set up and running with it.

I have no idea about the Honor but I have the OPX and I can honestly say I'm very impressed with it. I have zero issues and very good battery life when I do use it.
I've got the Sandstone case with it and as with the OPO which I owned as well I love the build quality.
Now I'm a huge Sammy Fanboy and I have an S6 Edge Plus and I'm having the S7 Edge coming next week and I'll tell you this...I'm selling the S6 Edge Plus and keeping my OPX.
Excellent device for the money.

I am entirely in love with my Opx. The build quality is beautiful and my coworkers think I have a $600 phone. Performance is as good as flagship out there in the real world and I have had no regrets. If you like to tinker than 1+ doesn't void your warranty for an unlocked bootloader or rooting the device. The stock rom has some features that you usually need root for like the advanced power menu (to allow you to boot into recovery and bootloader) and changing the battery icon.
I'll also say I had the 2015 moto g and paid $200 for it. Not worth the price in the damned slightest.
thanks! i used to be a flashaholic but there's a game i play alot that wont work on rooted devices so i have to stick to stock. i thought the gpu was inferior to the honors 405 til i read the 1+ scored almost double in gaming benchmarks so that was nice to see.
how about call quality for you? speakers are nice and loud? i had the nexus 5 and LOVED that phone but couldn't bear the speaker anymore. even with the tweaks
edit: any tmobile users here? i just noticed the 1+ doesn't have band 4 and that's the one I primarily connect to at home and work. would it just connect to band 1 at 2100? i'd hate to lose lte*
*disregard. seems it does have band4. one site had the wrong specs.
according to oneplus chat:
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz
WCDMA: Bands 1/2/4/5/8
FDD-LTE: Bands 1/2/4/5/7/8

Ok so I had the nexus 5 and then moved to the OPO which I loved but dropped a couple times which damaged the phone slightly and my OCD made me go for the X. I currently love the smaller form factor and the build. Great phone and the speaker and battery life are better than the nexus 5. The speaker is I would say decent, not the best but definitely an improvement over the nexus 5 volume wise at least.
Battery life, just flash a different kernel on the stock rom and you're good to go. No need to root anyway, and I like Oxygen OS 2.2.0 - it's stable and has the clean minimal features I want in a ROM.
My one gripe is the lack of fast charging... Not even QC2.0 but the fact that you can't get the full 2mAh from the charger. That sucks, but otherwise it's a nice device. Well worth it for the money!

Long story short, plenty of major issues reported since early november and not even a word about it.
Try Hydrogen OS for a more consistent experience.
I don't give a damn about OOS updates anymore. I am runing my own build based on AOSP, thanks to ashwin007, MasterAwesome, eng.stk, h2o64, Sultanxda...
There are issues for a start Bluetooth might not pair your contacts to your car.
You can buy an app to solve it because OP haven't fixed it.
There's also a problem with the microphone switching off when using video calling apps like Viber/Hangouts.
It also doesnt come with gallery or music apps but you can find those yourself.

yeah H2OS is much more consistent rom than Oxygen OS atm. maybe i'll get back to Oxygen when most of the issues are fixed. Hydrogen on the other hand does the job for me and barely any battery drain at all. Camera works great

Me too I have my OPX for less than a month now and I'm wondering maybe I can try some different ROM than OOS but I have no experience in this kind of things (having a different phone than stock). But in the other hand I'm very happy with my device as it is, it gets the job done. Is there something I'm missing? Is there something truly extraordinary in CM or H2OS or something else that OOS doesn't have? I really don't know what other ROMs have to offer.
Heres a bit of an update for you guys!
> When Nougat is released it will be the Android 7.1.1 version.
-- It will take some time to finish, they are perfecting it as the USA version released too early and was found to have many bugs after release, the beta test was too short.
> Root is still in the process - Am unsure if this is for Nougat/Marshmallow and how this is going to work, but internally the process has sped up now, so we will see it after Nougat release.

Haha just kidding, its true what rikin93 said zte said that in the beta tester group.
good to hear
This is such good news!! Made my day
But 7.1 will take a bit longer. They actually testing it intern before we test it in the beta.
I sure hope that proper device encryption (including password at bootup that is used for encrypting the internal storage) will be supported for A2017G soon. They promised it for B10 but it didn't seem to have it made into that release. I still have hope that it will show up in Nougat. Is it actually present in the A2017U Nougat release?

A2017U has a password ta bootup in Nougat. Wasn't present in MM.
Good to hear that but personally I have my doubts will get directly 7.1.1.
But ZTE should had focus from beginning to that version since have been delay the upgrade to 7.
Since we will get it within March so they are having plenty of time for preparation and no excuse of getting 7 instead of 7.1.1.

There's a similar topic on the official german forum about this. It was commented by ZTE staff yesterday:
"Hello Axon 7 friends!
It seems to be false statement about the update. I want to correct it:
ZTE Germany will publish Android 7.0 at least at the end of the first quarter of the year.
The confusion might have been occurred since the developers are already working on 7.1.

Excellent. I will have moved to a better phone by then.
The signal on this phone is so poor compared to other phones. The sound is great but the software is slow and buggy. The camera is awful compared to many mid range phones. And the support is just rubbish. I'm afraid it was cheap for a reason.
It is only the sound which keeps me using this phone. The new LG will have a quad DAC and that will remove that need. It's a shame but when you compare this phone to my main daily driver - an iPhone 7 Plus (I always carry two phones for various reasons), this is a poor relative, way way behind in 2nd place. If my Note 5 (my other alternative for my second phone) had half decent sound, this phone would have been sold ages ago....

Well with quality control issue with several LG flagship latest years I wish you really good good luck.
You will need 100%.
Also with 3200 battery at 5.7 inches with battery hungry and horrible quality LCD screen LG provide men you will be the best wall charging friends.
With the exception of low light camera performance everywhere else it's at top level and 6 months having the device not had any issue mention.
Before Axon 7 had S7 Edge so you can count that if wasn't pleased I would have returned back to Samsung very easy to me.

What utter nonsense. The modular G5 was plainly a stupid idea. The G4, V10 and V20 were much better. I suspect Samsung will also start adopting decent DACs as well.
Battery life? Also nonsense. My Note 5 has a 5.7" screen and a 3200 battery and lasts as long as, if not longer than, the Axon.
As to signal, I have tested the two side by side and the Axon always loses signal much more quickly. I am not alone in this - loads of reports of it. Bluetooth? Pathetic.

Low light performance ? What about average or high light performance. By modern standards, the camera really is appalling.
And top level performance? Really? Mine (and many others) has never upgraded itself. I have always had to download the updates and apply them. Each upgrade has brought major bugs and the OS skin is appalling (let's not even discuss the notification bell) and buggy. I am not being subjective here - put it next to a Note 5 (which has a much older processor and awful, slow touchwiz) and you will see how the axon is so much less smooth and really struggles when you put it through its paces.
I am not trolling - I have just been around for a long time and seen what is possible in the evolution of phones. Other than the sound quality (which is phenomenal, even if the Bluetooth strength is absolutely crap compared to other phones) the Axon 7 just does not stack up. It wouldn't be an issue if it had been a really cheap phone....
Yes, it is ahead of the OP3 (but probably not the 3T) but that is hardly a good benchmark, not least given the prices
Just my two cents. Not expecting agreement in an Axon 7 forum!!!

The price and specs are great. The rom/root community is okay size. Build quality is trash. Don't buy this phone. With a little more money you could buy the One Plus 3T or One Plus 5. Better specs, build quality, rom/root, etc.
My next phone is Note 8 or One plus 3T or 5. I am not trying to bash phone. Just giving you an honest opinion. Look through the threads you will see tons of people with GPS, Backlight Bleed, bootloop issues, etc. I love LG, but will be my last LG phone for a long time.

I'm looking to get the H850 for my mom since it is only $300CAD if I get my friend to bring it back from Hong Kong. Can't find any another phone in that price range that would be better than the LG G5 H850...
Hardware and price are amazing, especially the model RS988 that covers the most weirdest bands that are available in areas like Canada. Unfortunately, the root/bootloader on the rest of models are bringing tons of problems, if its rootable/unlockable at all. Custom firmware choice is very poor, and they are raw even after 1 year of release. What it means is that you basically can't use NFC on most of custom roms (if not all). The stock firmware on the other hand is very well made and stable. I'm using it with Magisk without issues. So far the only problem is stock kernel doesn't seem to be energy efficient, so battery flies away in a day or two of use. However, battery is replaceable, what is offered in not that many flagship phones nowadays.
I can't agree about bad quality of build. I would say its very good comparing to what else you can meet nowadays.
Other than that, it's one of the best phones available for 250$ on B&H (Titan) if not the only good one.
Yeah not sure about other countries, but in Canada it's hard to beat the LG G5. OnePlus 3T/5 are $600/$650CAD+tax respectively and the G5 can be found for $330-370 all in. Even 2016 mid-range phones like the Axon 7 and Honor 8 are $400-$500+tax.
Build quality isn't up to par with other flagships, but it's not terrible IMO. At least it's better than most mid-range phones.
It is a lottery phone.

Build quality is pretty bad guys sorry. I've had plenty of low/Mid/High end of phones. I've never seen this many issues as this one. When I see GPS and backlight bleed threads filled with countless complaints. Yeah that's bad build quality.
Damiloveu statement pretty much sums it up right it's a lottery phone. 50/50 hit or miss, be for warned potential new g5 buyers. GREAT phone if no issues. And if it does have problems many headaches await you.

I would install Fulmics on the LG G5 if I can get it for my mom, so the RS988 is out of the question for me. I just cannot buy phones if I cannot install custom ROMs on it. I hate being at the mercy of manufacturers for software updates.
I'm so confused as to why manufacturers cannot just sell one or two variant of the same phone. Making dozens of variants seems so stupid.
coming from P9.
Maybe my most complain bout this device is the GPS as i always use gps for ingress, second is battery and the rest is the design and build quality though I dont have the screen retentention issues yet.
Thanks a lot, everybody. I think I'll get this phone, it features literally *every* feature I need on a device.

I got a used AT&T H820 and it had the GPS issue, especially worse when cloudy and rainy. However, I returned the AT&T one and got an unlocked RS988 and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

If you need a hot swappable battery, the G5 is great.
If you game a lot, and want the ability to do so without remaining plugged in and burning up your phone, then the G5 is perfect for you.
As far as performance, no issues whatsoever.
Battery life is average, but with the ability to swap out new batteries and charge dead ones outside the phone in a charging port, you honestly don't have battery downtime. It's just always up.
That's the biggest advantage of this phone.
If you're looking for a better deal, you don't need unlimited battery life, or you're looking for a rich featureset, I would look elsewhere.
The gps is absolute wank and I don't have the time or inclination to do a hardware fix. I did a quick comparison with my friend who owns an OP3 indoors; his had gps lock with 15 seconds but mine was still searching after several minutes. In fact, I have almost missed turnings when driving a few times because of this POS. I never replace my phone until it has had 18 months usage but for the G5, I will make an exception.
I have LG G5 since April 2016 after my Note 3 : no root or anything, LG updates regulary.
I never have problems with it.
-No bootloop, no GPS bugs, a better reception with the same carrier...
-Camera is really good, especially the large wide-angle.
-Battery life: a day with a little use (waze to go work -one hour/day) wifi on, "always on display" always activate, some internet at evening : Facebook, Twitter, insta, mails...
-IR for soundbar, tv is really good !!
But no SPen ? So I will get the Note 8, really great for work, with the camera options easier than LG suit.
And finally, i prefer Samsung environment, even if G5 is really a good phone.

It's not worth the broken GPS sensors which are a known hardware defect. They'll fix it for you, but it's never the root of the problem so it will come back. I've sent mine in 3 times, GPS works for a couple days, then ceases to work again. Terrible quality control, by far the worst phone I've owned. My Galaxy S4 was better.

well, looks like i'm not the only one who migrate from Galaxy Note 3. let me tell you my short little story
I upgraded since my Note 3 were exynos version which didnt support 4g band. i was looking for cheap second hand devices with LTE support  ( dont judge me, bussines is low here in indonesia i cant afford phone more than 250$ - on indonesia currency and prices of course)
so i search all available markets, online and offline. some guys recomended 3 phone. LG G5 h860, xperia z5, and HTC m9 ( all cost about 200-250$ here, second handed) so i spent about 3 days on google comparing all 3 phone. i kick z5 out from my list since i had a bad experience with sony devices ( heat issue, poor audio quality, you name it) so it just m9 or g5. m9 is a good phone, its the cheapest one, had official support for lineage and SlimOS. solid built, and dual speaker. the drawback were its photo quality, its much worse than my note 3 even with 20mp camera. but at that time i cant find g5, the only available one were g5 SE version which is downgrade one ( 3gb ram and qualcom 625) and it cost about 299$!! hell no, so i pick the m9. but as i said before, i'm not really satisfied. the main advantages comparing my old note were: better sound, better network 4g, better official OS ( Lollipop vs nougat) and custom, and fast charging. but thats the only option i got that time. after several months some guys here sold his g5 h860 on low prices, i dont need to think twice so today my g5 finally arrived. still looks good for a second hand devices, the ony issue were the screen ghosting when the devices getting hot. but it would dissapear after some minutes, i can live with that. BUT, comparing to my m9 the battery drains faster, no root option, no custom recovery or rom. so for answering your question, IF i moved from note 3 directly to G5 i would be really happy as it has more advantages. but since i got my hand on m9 first i still feel little dissapointed . i cant stop comaring 3 of them. note 3 has bigger display and spen support, m9 has the best custom rom suppot and great battery, while g5 has the most awesome camera and screen resolution :cyclops: .

Ok, first off, thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. I actually appreciate it when people put a little effort in helping others online.
I ultimately settled for a G5, since a replaceable battery is more important to me than a bigger one, and also because I could really use those extra 0.3" on the screen. Moreover, you were unlucky in getting an h860 variant, because the european h850 has some decent support over here.
Lastly, I am not getting another HTC device again, I had an HTC Desire S. Let me tell you something about that phone: you could *not* remove the battery with the device on, risking a total brick. Yup, you heard me right. A flimsy plastic clip was all that kept your precious phone from mayhem and destruction. The best part is that it was a hardware defect, obviously ineligible for warranty replacement, and I don't recall HTC ever acknowledging the issue, let alone provide the user with some kind of compensation. Also, HTC always was a pain in the ass to customize, and the HTCdev program is a joke.
Nonetheless, thanks a lot for the feedback man. Have a good one

yeep, my biggest regret were i didnt read much about lg g5, infact i read too many about it so i skip the most important things. from what i gather around the web, g5 has 2 version. G5 and g5 SE. the g5 has snap820, 4gb ram and single sim, while g5 SE had snap 625, 3GB ram and dualsim. i use 2 simcard one for main use and another for data connection. and h860 has both advantages from 2 g5 version, snap 820/4gb ram and Dualsim support. i didnt bother to check on XDA for root method as i though it just the same as samsung or HTC, even with many varian usually all of them has the same exploit. i never though i would be so wrong on my life . and for the HTC part, well what can i say, here in indonesia we didnt have official HTC service centre so if we had a malfunction devices we just need to fix it on our own . same goes to LG G5 since the only one that they sold here were g5 SE, some friend of mine already bought g5 from singapore last year and when his screen broke he sent it to LG centre but they refuse it, they said the only accept g5 SE. so i'm totally aware when i bought those devices, i cant rely on warranty or official services. and its not the first time, usually lot of devices which sold here were downgraded version comparing to international one. like
note 3 on international version they had snap801 and lte support while official one the had stupid exynoss and 3g only. same goes with Note 5 snapdragon inter vs exynoss local, and also xiaomi devices, huawei, and many other brands which i dont remember anymore. thats why, many people here usually bought new/second hand devices from another country because they want to feel the real experience while also acknowledge they cant bring it to official service centre when it broke later.
Hell no.
Hello,
I've seen the 64GB version going for cheap and I was wondering if it's still a good buy.
The most important item to me is the camera, I've read that there's still bugs with Nougat roms, have those been fixed? Decent pictures and good video recording are important to me, even if it means staying on 6.0.
I can live with a subpar battery life compared to other phones, I use the phone for music and camera mostly.
I've heard issues of quality control, is this true?

in my opinion, this mobile is really worth, it has a balance of features. music with (Dolby Atoms + CDLA) are great, the camera is nice but not perfect as new Samsung mobile, the battery is good. performance is great.
If you live in Europe, try to avoid X829 as that does not have B20 support, so most probably you'll not be able to get 4G. All the phones are the same almost X820 X821 X822 X829, only thing is B20 for the latter. They are almost unbrickable and looks like development is still going. Fingerprint sensor is a hit or miss for some, for me it's ok (not great) and it has been so for the past 16 months.
Although the company is dead, there are still the custom ROMs... But that means no more official support.
I remember when I bought it that alternatives were Axon 7, Zuk Z2, Mi5... But I ended up with LeMax2 and it's not a bad decision.
Conclusion: it's still worth buying if you're on a tight budget, otherwise look for something with SD835.

Using my X829 here in europe without any problems . 4G all the time full signal. A friend has the X820 and we don't have any difference in 4G signal
In the UK the O2 network uses B20, so no 4G. The Three network uses B3 & B20, so some 4G.
it depends on where you are living. no b20 doesn't mean you have no 4G at all, just not on that frequency. you can google that.
is it worth buying? in general yes, it's all in all on par with samsung s7. but... there are quite a few devices which have hardware failures out of the box or after a short time. here is what i gathered: dead fingerprint sensor, "screen flickering" from time to time, polarizer damage on display, screen has stripes, hardware failure where the phone can be flashed but wont boot (seen on x829 only), wifi and bt not working after short time (x829), camera focus stuck, ir sensor unresponsive (rare), touch screen unresposive in some areas, dead pixel on display.
if it works, it's still a decent phone for cheap. also spare parts are very cheap. of course, we wont see any official os update, thats a pity but there are aosp roms in active development.
if you buy it, i would recommend to either buy it from a vendor with good return policy or buy a used one and ask the seller if everything is 100% working. under this conditions, i would buy it again. i still love it, have 2 of them.

4G work here in Spain, I have 829
I have no problems with camera on lineageos. I don't know about original ROM. Never used it. I don't understand what is the problem with it. The camera is NOT as good as my Samsung NX300 systems camera. But that was probably to be expected When I use max2 camera, I can see the OIS function doing it's thing and it focuses fine and takes sharp pictures.
I have a friend who told me the same thing about the camera that he heard camera is not good. He apparently watched some YouTube videos. He is also very very picky. But I have max2 with lineage and he came to my place and compared my camera photos and video with his iPhone 7 and then decided buy max2 (and bought it). (We didn't test the camera with original OS, but I asked him and he will test it)
With another iPhone 7 user we compared sharpness of photos and they seemed equal.
So, I guess if iPhone 7 camera is good enough for you, you should be fine.
Thanks to all for the replies.
I'm looking at the Le Max 2 because I've been in the Mediatek SoC world for the last 5 years and I've grown, despite the good efforts of a few developers, tired of the lack of software updates for the Mediatek devices, so I've decided to jump on the Qualcomm ship. Not willing to spend more than 250 euros on a device, and options are very limited: either the Max 2, a Redmi Note 4, Mi 5/Mi5s (a bit harder to find and more expensive) or wait and see what the Redmi Note 5 looks like when it comes out. The Max 2 looks great for what you're paying. High-end SoC, even in 2017, very good camera, community development, for under 200 euros.
I've noticed the lack of band 20, but I'm not a heavy data user, I think it's something that it's nice to have, but all long as I'm able to make calls in 2g or 3g, I'm happy.
I've also noticed the camera quality and it's a step up from Mediatek, very detailed images, plus there's camera2 api which Mediatek don't have. Also the hacked google camera might come in handy as well. At first I thought it wasn't going to be good because the sensor is a bit old, but no the pictures I've seen actually look pretty good. Plus the microphone is a bit step up for video recording.
Again, some compromises have to be made, ideally it would've a headphone jack and band 20, but it's budget-priced phone, I'm okay with those compromises.
Major concern is just the quality control, some people have no complaints others have horror stories about Le Eco. But it seems to be a minority.
Again, thanks to all who replied.

Why not buy the LeEco Le Pro 3? It's on sale for just €170.14 (using coupon code '11bgx727') https://www.banggood.com/LeTV-Leeco...on-821-Quad-core-4G-Smartphone-p-1185176.html
You get official Paranoid Android support(!!) and flagship performance (SD821, 64gb UFS 2.0, 4gb ram, 4070mAh battery) at a ridiculously low price. Bear in mind this is the US version (x727). For more information, check out the LeEco Pro 3 forum here at XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3.

It all comes down to personal preference. My Le Max 2 shipped with the 'black spot in the camera lens' issue and is currently being repaired under the warranty. That being said, I very much enjoy the phone.
(Not sure whether this belongs here or in the "real life review" section somewhere; mods, please move it if you think best.)
Ten days ago my wife and I moved from our venerable Nexus 5 phones to new G6 US997 carrier-unlocked phones. After living with them for a while, here are my impressions.
Things that are better on the G6:
- The display. Blacker black, more saturated color. The tall display ratio doesn't bother me, and the benefit is that we're getting a 5.7" screen in a phone only 2mm wider than the 5" Nexus 5.
- Battery life. My train ride to work would routinely take my battery down below 65% from a full charge; the G6 is usually comfortably above 90% after the same ride.
- Audio. Wasn't even expecting this, but the G6's audio sounds better.
- Build quality. The N5 is utilitarian compared to the slick G6.
- Camera. Much, MUCH better, and the camera app is better too.
- Fingerprint sensor.
Things I miss about the Nexus 5:
- A notification LED. I never realized how much I had come to rely on it.
- The developer community. There were about six times as many ROMs available for the N5 as there are for the G6. Right now a lot of ROMs seem to be in a holding pattern waiting for Oreo to drop. I realize the G6 is a relatively new phone, and the N5 community was old and well established. But I think that's affected by the next point:
- Unified hardware platform across carriers. The N5 had just two versions, an international and a US version, and they differed only in the radio bands. The G6 has all sorts of different versions, most not unlockable unless you get a carrier-unlocked US997 or an H870. I think this is going to curtail the developer community from attaining the N5's level.
- Relative ease of developer modes. Compared to the N5, it's a lot harder to get to the point where you can flash things on the G6.
I've already tried a few different configurations to see what I like best. I flashed Fulmics ROM for a while to try it out, but switched back to rooted stock rom today because it just seemed faster and more stable. Gave the LG stock launcher a fair try, but I'm back to using Nova now. I'll probably stay with this configuration until I see a stable Oreo ROM with LG camera support emerge.
I like the phone, I just wish it were a little bit more developer-friendly.
I absolutely agree with you. The g6 has amazing hardware but everything else does not follow. I'm coming from a op3t and a nexus 6p before that so I do know what SILKY SMOOTH fast performance is, and the g6 is just isnt as smooth. I'm personally waiting till november for the oreo update hoping it will very much improve the g6, otherwise I will never ever even entertain the idea of getting another non google (stock-ish) phone again !
Both the wife and I also came directly from Nexus 5s. The Nexus 5s started to slow down and mine would not charge on the wireless pads anymore. We got Unlocked T-Mobile phones, which came with an unlocking app. We are both on T-mobile so it doesn't really matter anyway. Very happy with the phones and T-mobile is pretty much keeping up with the security patches.

T-Mo had a killer buy-one-get-one deal for $500 plus the tax and fees on the second phone, but I passed on that and bought carrier-unlocked from B&H instead. Cost more, but I can root them.

I would absolutely have bought a Pixel if it came with wireless charging.
I'm considering making this jump too (Nexus 5 to G6). I really appreciate this review!
Is there any reason you didn't go with the pixel 2? I'm currently trying to decide between the G6 and the Pixel 2-- especially due to that missing headphone jack on the new pixel!

Wireless charging. That's a must-have for me. The headphone jack would probably have been a deal-breaker too, but the real reason was that the G6 has wireless charging.
You're going to chafe a little bit coming from the N5. I haven't installed any AOSP-based G6 ROMs yet, only the stock-based ones, and they're a little bit limiting compared to the wide range of choices you had available on the N5. But the G6 hardware is really, really nice, and the ROM support is coming along. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Oreo drops.

for me pixel 2 is a get go if u want all rounder better experience in android. my previous phone is nexus 6p and oneplus 3, now I using g6 with some sacrifice laggy software.
why I still prefer g6:
1. wide angle camera
2. flat screen!! curved screen hard to find a perfect tg glass
3. my version is dual sim, because I often travel. my primary sim number used for many security access. so I need a convenient phone that can disable enable my primary sim.
4. the overall design so elegant

My previous phone was a Nexus 6P.
I sold it about six weeks ago and bought the LG G6.
I had to pay an extra $25 (sold the 6P for $425) I also bought the extended warranty through SquareTrade for $99.
The warranty was a wash since the 6P was going out of warranty and I would have had to buy SquareTrade for it.
I got the unlocked US997 from B&H.
Anyway. It smokes the 6P on all fronts except stereo speakers.
I never listened to the speakers anyway.
The flat screen is awesome. I will never buy a phone with a curved screen.
