Wired connection to external screen/display - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been doing some research on using an Android phablet as both a mobile device and desktop computer. Basically this is what is needed:
Ability to run desktop environment and applications. Already not a problem with linuxdeploy or similar;
Ability to connect external display, keyboard and mouse. Whilst connecting the latter 2 wirelessly is acceptable, I certainly want to be able to use wired connection for external display — HDMI or something else.
The second requirement seems to be either tricky or not possible to accomplish at all with non-stock ROMs. Is it true that no custom Android ROM allows wired connection of external display, like MHL/HDMI or whatever?
I am also aware of Ubuntu Touch but it seems not to support wired external display either, all the more so it won't allow to run Android apps.

[Q] Samsung Note replacing desktop computer

What do you think about that?
I already have a old windows bluetooth keyboard that works with android.
I only use computer to surf the webb, write, read. Watch some youtube.
Can bluetooth mouse be used with android? Not that it's necessery, but i'm curious
Yes it can, quite easily in fact. If the bluetooth keyboard and mouse suppor the HID profile, you should be good to go. Also, if you get an MHL adapter and connect it to an HDMI display you can push your screen out to a larger one.
Is this issue already fixed that an activated Bluetooth connection slows down your WiFi? For surfing the tablet may be okay, but for me it won't replace the desktop in the near future.. There are no drivers for special devices, it's way slower and if you try serious work on a tablet... Well, prepare some relaxing tea

Is it possible to use this phone as a keyboard or mouse?

I was wondering if there was an app that would let you use the phone as a mouse/keyboard for a computer/laptop. Something like Blueputdroid, which turns the phone into a bluetooth mouse/keyboard using root and doesn't require additional software to be installed and configured on the computer.
BluePutdroid would've been just fine but I haven't had luck with it - Whenever I use it, it crashes after a few seconds and corrupts my sdcard somehow.
So does anyone know of app that can turn the phone into a bluetooth or usb mouse/keyboard so it's just like plugging in a normal keyboard or mouse?
Thanks!

First off, most do require somesort of server software and run over wifi, so what OS do you use?
But i happen to use Unified Remote. I love it to death, I wish to hell I could get it on my wifes *cringe* iphone just because it controls literately everything windows. It costs a few bones, but is well worth it (cause of netflix, i use windows as my media boxes, and it has remotes for everything media center on windows...highly recommended.)
Not sure about bluetooth only cause I don't have it on my tv boxes.
If you use Windows you can use an app called Win Remote. Works pretty well.

This is what I use, very simple and works flawlessly. But it does require the server to be ran on the computer. It's got two-finger multi-touch support for scrolling like a MacBook trackpad which is useful for cruising the interwebz.

Control a PC using Android without server software?

I've messed with many different apps on my Android phone that, in conjunction with a server app, allow me to control my PC with my phone. I'm curious though if there is a hardware solution that does the same thing and doesn't require any server software to be installed on the PC?
Here's my idea. A dongle that's plugged into your PC and is recognized as a generic HID device. The dongle then connects to your phone via BT. Then using an app on the phone, you can now use your phone as a keyboard, mouse, or PowerPoint controller.
This would be great for times when you don't have admin rights on the PC needing controlled and wouldn't be able to install a piece of software, but you can at least hook up a mouse or keyboard and they work. I have to do a lot of PowerPoint presentations at school and would love to just simply pop a dongle into the PC and almost immediately be able to start controlling the presentation from my phone.

It's a good thought, but I think it's overkill for just that purpose.
I guess the main use is to utilize your phone as keyboard input? otherwise, you could just plugin a wireless mouse to control the presentation.
I also assume that your ppt is being presented from the PC, instead of from the phone, right?

I suppose it may be overkill, sure. I was hoping to minimize what I would have to be carrying around with me. It would be handy to just have a small USB plug sized dongle only with me that I can just plug and and go and not have to have a mouse. Even a small mouse can be a bit of a bulge, and it's something that's easier to break than a small dongle.
And yes, the PPT would be running from the PC, most likely on the teachers computer that's hooked to the rooms projector.
Hmm, TeamViewer can be run without being installed. That may help. Just click on "Run" instead of "Install" on the menu.
No server software
I really don't understand why this isn't implemented already. In theory all you would need is the HID driver in an app on your phone and transmit over Bluetooth. Not sure what the complication is.
I had a feature phone that could do this in 2009, without any software installed anywhere, using standard Bluetooth and HID drivers.

[Q] Use android device as a USB sound card or DAC/amp?

The sound card on my laptop is ageing and was not very good to begin with but the one in my phone is great. Is there a USB (not wireless) solution for my PC to detect my phone as a sound card and have the DAC in my phone process the digital audio signal and for me to listen through my phone's headphone jack?
Basically is there a solution that allows me to use my phone as an external usb headphone DAC/amp?
I've done some googling but not found any viable solution yet.
The first one I found that works is WiFiAudio, which you can get to work over USB by enabling USB Networking.
You have to run software on the PC (I tested from Windows 10). Don't know if there's Mac software but I'll be wanting it as well.

it's called USB Tethering in android, which is located in Portable Hotspot section.
We'd like to elaborate here a little as it took us some time to figure out how exactly to use our android as a sound card for a PC.
There's another app out there - SoundWire, which we used and known for some time, we haven't tried WiFiAudio, but found it. Think it's pretty similar.
So what those apps do is they let you connect to your android via LAN (WiFi in most cases unless u got ethernet cable in your phone) and they let you transmit sound to your phone. It's pretty simple and straightforward. The drawback is audio delay, which increases with buffer size. But good video player like MPC let's us change audio delay so we can make it play faster than video to compensate for that, takes a little time to figure out the delay tho.
SO we wanted to try it over usb cable, maybe it'd reduce/eliminate the delay heh. (it doesn't) That's how we found this post and we got kinda stumbled on "enabling USB Networking". Tried to look it up, read wiki and all. Turns out it's called USB Tethering in android, which is located in Portable Hotspot section. After enabling that - it adds a network on the PC, provided it's connected via usb cable ofc. Turned off all networking on android (WiFi, mobile) And it works. Though had to type in IP manually.
So now it can be used as a usb sound card without WiFi or anything. Still has a delay tho.
upd: Using a usb cable allows to reduce buffer size to minimum without getting any stutter leading essentially to no noticeable delay. Which is great.

Store analog data through PAN module connecting Via USB port of Android phones

Hi,
I am basically working as embedded engineer and while working with many micro controllers to create wireless communication I have got a unique idea of using Android smart phone controllers to send PAN module (Zigbee) data to SD card or in phone's memory storage,
I don't know whether this kind of work is possible but any kind of suggestion to start with this kind amazing work will be much helpful.
you will able to know Zigbee device on website name ncd.io, which is connected with USB module to connect easily with smartphone USB port
