I just Wonder if we never See CyanogenMod 14 (Official)
After i read that...
And does this Affect other Custom Rom Releases?
Because i not Seen a New Custom Rom a while now for
The OnePlus X.

It does not affect the Cyanogenmod itself.
It is only concerning the Cyanogen OS project (kind of commercial one), which comes in stock with several devices, like Oneplus One or Wileyfox.
The announcement is regarding mostly about the commercial variant, i.e CyanogenOS. SO for now as they state...
"The announcement also doesn't make clear what will happen to CyanogenMod and CyanogenOS. "
We don't know what this bring for the custom ROMs community.
The question is : why reserving 3 posts for that ?
Kéno i'm Sorry

Just one caveat: I have done searches (read: multiple).
How in the world does CyanogenMod get to all of the supported devices? All of a sudden once CM9 is released, for phones/tablets moving from CM7 to 9, does it go out to all devices or what? Does it need to get ported from the source for each and every individual device? In general, how is CM updated and how does it get out to the officially supported phones/tablets?
Cyanogenmod ROMs do indeed have to be ported to each individual device and maintained. Once a device receives official support from the Cyanogenmod team, daily changes made to the AOSP source code (tweaks and bugfixes by the various contributing devs) are automatically compiled by a "buildbot" and released at the end of each day (thus these builds are called "nightlies"). These nightly updates are then made available for download through the Cyanogenmod website and through ROM Manager. Once code updates reach a certain plateau, a "final release"-worthy balance of features and stability, the build is released separately as a "stable" build (such as CM7.1), though you can still download it from the website or from ROM Manager just as with the nightlies. CM9 will eventually receive the same treatment and be released in the form of nightlies and stable builds.
Further (highly recommended) reading can be found here: http://www.cyanogenmod.com/blog/the-current-and-future-state-of-cyanogenmod-nightlies
Has anyone seen John Connor?
so the nightlies don't have to be ported, but every major revision does?

No.
"Porting" is just a word used for the process of making the rom work on any certain device.
So to answer your question, once the work of porting CM to the certain device is done, that port is used as the base for both the stable and nightly builds.
Look at the analogy of when a new phone comes out, case manufacturers create a mold to use to make their cases fit the certain phone, and that mold is used to make all kinds of cases. Same concept
Hello XDA-Developers.
Some of my friends in the phone/wireless communications business (including a PhD) tell me that custom ROMs are unsafe and there could be written in the code spyware such as keyloggers that can steal your data and do other things of the sort in the background. Cyanogenmod (and AOKP maybe) seem to be pretty safe, and I am running it on my i897, but the Legend is not supported anymore and the latest official ROM I can get is Gingerbread on CM7, which is very slow and seems to have issues. However, I have found these UNOFFICIAL Cyanogenmod/AOKP ROMS made by others:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562595
2.2 ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=866849
Note: Don't know if this matters, but all the ROMs save the last were not made by Recognised Developers.
These ROMs (I haven't tried some of them yet) run very smoothly on the Legend and are almost as good as a daily driver.
So can I trust these ROMs because they are based on CM/AOKP but are unofficial, or is the security compromised as it was unofficially done by a member? I would like answers from a technical point of view, not speculation such as 'devs usually have no intent', etc. Don't get me wrong, I may be paranoid, but I truly appreciate the amazing work that devs here are doing, but the possibility of security issues, especially with Linux and open source, is of my concern.
Hi.
I don't know if this is the right place for posting or not. But I just wanted to share it with you guys.
I was a fan of Simple AOSP ROM on my Nexus 4 back in the day. According to me, it had all the essential features for a ROM.
Now I have switched to OP2. The development of OP2 was very slow in the early stages but now it has picked up pace.
Keeping that in mind, I want to request someone to please build this ROM for our OP2. Since I have no idea or the time to build it myself, I would love to see someone take this up.
Here is the official source code - https://github.com/SAOSP-M

I'm not a developer myself but I do try and flash the roms on my OP2. Not sure if you yourself are a developer so please ignore if you already have checked these, but Paranoid android, Exodus are all aosp based.. and this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-aosp-caf-oneplus2-t3386553
I think is purely aosp-caf based.
I don't know if I'm out of line suggesting an alternative rom but, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-2/orig-development/rom-halogenos-oneplus-2-t3377799
Similar to the suggestion above but is way more current. June security update, beta 2 released today.
Hello, I should be buying a Swift 2 Plus soon, and as a complete noob, I don't know what the death of Cyanogen is going to do to my device. Obviously it won't instantly brick it, but how am I gonna get future Android updates without installing a custom rom?
have a sexy christmas
Please, read my post here, and the (unconfirmed) Wileyfox's response to Cyanogen move here. It should be enough to clear your doubts

One thing relating more to the custom ROM area. So some of the CM team (not COS) are rebranding as lineage OS right. And they are continuing off the codebase of CM however we don't have a build of CM so how will and developer , from lineage or anywhere else, build a custom ROM without code from CM or AOSP. Unless Cyanogen Inc release the source code for our phone which I'm not sure they will. (Sorry if this is a noob question)

You're absolutely correct. We can't start with the development with no sources. However, I don't think Cyanogen would do that at the moment, and, after seeing Wileyfox's response to Cyanogen moves, I think (and actually hope) they'll switch to an AOSP-based ROM with Android N 7.0 upgrade, and if that happens I'm really sure they'll have no problem on releasing the source code (remember Wileyfox devices tend to be quite developer-friendly). From that, we can work on bringing Lineage...
Hi friends and dear developers..
I've been in this community since many years. I've been using Sony phones and then xiaomi phones.
> I've always seen that there are most kernels developed only for Cyanogen(now Lineage) based ROMs.
I accept that Lineage based ROMS are much much better in terms of performance and fluidity, and I love many roms out there.
But I always see xiaomi users get back to MIUI one day or another, since it has it own advantages, especially looks.
So my real query is, why don't we concentrate atleast a little on kernels for MIUI roms as well??
So friends, kindly share your views and suggestions, so that developers might take a look into this.
Love you all for your valuable time and knowledge. :good::highfive:

MIUI is outdated most of us using XDA only use custom ROMs,take me for an example I used MIUI in my redmi 3s only initial 3~5 months after that when I heard xioami won't upgrade redmi 3s to nougat ,I switched to custom ROM since then I never gone back to MIUI ,heck I even forgot I'm using xiaomi device.
There is bunch of up-to-date Oreo custom ROMs available for our device,as for MIUI it only stuck in Android marshmallow with April 2017 security patch which is one year old.so do u really think developers should care about MIUI?if normal users don't want to use MIUI ,then why should developers waste their time to create kernel, which nobody gonna use? Besides kernel development for our device is generally not that great compared to santoni and other redmi devices,so yeah this my opinion on this matter,if in future xiaomi decided to upgrade all devices to up-to-date Android(which I doubt),I'm sure developers will create more kernels for MIUI,even then custom ROMs will always dominate.
As for themes, since you're not new here, you at least heard about substratum theme engine/OMS give it a try,it's better than MIUI theming.
If you really want to stick to MIUI (official or custom Marshmallow based) you can use PerXepted kernel by Nichcream : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-3s/development/kernel-perxepted-16-aug-t3657329
It is excellent.

Thank you for your detailed explanation. And i totally agree with you buddy.. Except the fact that there are end users who still love MIUI (even though android version isn't updated and yes it sucks very much)..
And yes I have used substratum theme engine, its really great though

Yeah bro I have used it already.. It haven't been updated since long... And I hope it won't be updated anymore....
Because like SMR96 bro said, miui isn't updated (in terms of android version or security patch). Hence developers won't take much interest in updating kernel for an outdated ROM

It has been updated in january 2018, this is not so bad. The real problem is due to MIUI security patch level, april 2017 is not acceptable.
But sadly, nobody tried to add new security patch to MIUI.
