The quality of the images in the searches is much lower than when browsing the same site in Chrome. is anyone else seeing this?
I have attached screenshots showing this. It's not a functional issue, I just wonder why in the app the images are of a much lower quality than in Chrome. I have never seen this in any other app.

I'm taking a week of classes for work and would like to record the lectures (it is allowed) on video. While recording, I want to supplement the video with handwritten notes where appropriate. Has anyone seen an app that allows you to take notes that synchs with the video?
Thanks -
I too am in search of the perfect solution for taking lecture notes/audio/video. I've spent the last two days reading, searching, and testing apps. So far the best solution I have found is an app that will let me record audio while typing text notes (although my ATP's mic is terrible). The only solution I could come up with is to record video from my Razr and stitch the notes and video together after the class in Evernote or something similar.
I read at some point in the past two days about ICS not allowing the camera to operate in the background while using another app or when the screen turns off (tablet sleeps). I got burned on an app purchase because of this. The dev said it would still record while I did other things because the app ran as a "service". It didn't... cam stream would shut down if app wasn't active on the screen and it never would record to SD. I'm not going to name-and-shame the app here, but it seems we're both SOL for the moment. I'd sell a kidney to have an app that would allow video, external mic audio, and typed notes at the same time.
I have no idea if this will work or not, but it's worth a shot for you guys wanting this.
This is my idea:
Install "OverSkreen Browser", it's basicly an internet browser that works like a browser does on a PC, it adds a layer on top of the screen where the browser is in. So you can launch (for example) Youtube app, and have the OverSkreen browser sit on top of the YouTube app, being able to interact with both of the apps.
I do not know if this also works with the camera, but try it out
Just install the browser, set it up, launch the browser, click on home, launch the camera, press recent apps (or click the notification that comes up with overskreen browser) and click on it.
That would possibly allow you to record while also being able to take note in for example Google Docs.

Well... the good news is that the Overskreen browser actually worked. I could successfully record 720p HD video in the background while running Evernote in the Overskreen browser.
The bad news is that the web version of Evernote sucks equally well in both the stock browser and Overskreen. I will have to find another web-based note taking solution if I'm going to solve my video recording problem while taking notes. Perhaps I might try Google Docs or SpringPad. SpringPad's new interface for taking lecture notes just doesn't look like it will work though.... since it's been Pinterest-ified.
On a side note, I was able to use Gmail successfully while recording 720p video in the background using Overskreen with minimal input lag... so there is hope.
Any other suggestions on quality web-based note taking apps?
Hello everyone,
So like many of you I picked up an HP TouchPad when they were on sale. I gave the TouchPad to my Grandma. I figured it would be worth it alone for just using it as an interactive photo frame. With 32GB of space to spare I even put some QuickTime videos converted from home video VHS tapes.
While it works well for that, the organization of the Photo program on WebOS isn't the best. Viewing photos and albums isn't as simple as I thought it may be. So I started looking at some other options as far as alternative OS for the TouchPad. It looks like Android seems to be running quite well on the device (from what I've seen). So I was wondering if any of you could suggest a build / type of Android install I should attempt to use?
My needs are simple. I would like a nicer Photo Management software (if available with video playback for QuickTime / MPEG-4 files) and working Wi-Fi The ability to have multiple icons on a home screen is good. It makes it easier for her to select what she wants to do. Is there an option to make a keyboard larger? Or is there any font options to make things larger? She'll be 93 this month, and although her vision is pretty good, she can use all the help she can get.
Skype would be nice, but from what I understand camera and microphone compatibility is limited. Of course I'd like it to be as stable as possible. I haven't looked at her TouchPad in a bit, I'll see if there are any WebOS updates before continuing. But I'm curious as to what is out there to make this tablet a bit easier to use.
Thank you in advance for your help!

The CM9 builds are very stable and extremely usable. Try the nightly builds for good wifi. Also, the latest nightlies have working mic, though not camera.
There are tons of photo managers and video players on the Google Play Store; I like QuickPic for photos, but I don't watch a lot of videos.
The default homescreen has multiple icons.
There is an option for larger font in Settings -> Accessibility -> Large Text.
Several 3rd-party keyboards allow you to change the size of the keyboard. For example, I use SwiftKey, and it has 4 sizes. It is paid, though.
Anyone else care about how bad some videos look when recorded on snapchat. I mean I tried snapchat on a Xperia U (Cant even tell what's going on) on a nexus s ( better but not acceptable), on a nexus 5 (Motion makes the video look very low quality) and a HTC one s (Looks almost normal but still some odd pixels) Tried on multiple Wi-Fi networks and settings on video quality set to standard. Anyone know of a fix? or why this happens? (I'm guessing compression problems)
Man, no one replied to this? I hate that snapchats video on Android is so terribly compressed. Sometimes you can't even make out what you're looking at. I really they can get the video quality on the same level as the iPhone. Anyone know why it's not up to par?
This is quite old but seeing as the problem still exists... bump
Hi
Had someone experienced bad quality icons in google play on mobile? I've checked on few mobiles and tablets. Everywhere the same. They looks like few kb jpg thumbnails, not vector ones I've seen always before.
Bump. Really no one can see that? Quality is awful! Also, quality of photos sent using Facebook Messenger are worse than not a long ago (month or so). Not only on my device, everyone I'm talking with have the same issues. I don't get it, why Google made their images crapy JPG's instead of crispy png's or vectors as before.
Hi,
Has anyone tried the one plus camera apk on the p20 lite. I am getting noticeably better photos. Major difference being the size and sharpness of the photos and videos. The downsides would be not able to access gallery from the app and the inability to shoot portrait and slowmo. Let me know your thoughts. For the ones who would like to download it, the apk is available at apkmirror.
Thanks
Could you post some examples, maybe even the difference between photos with both camera apps? I am interested in this phone, but the camera reviews are not really positive.
And important to me: is there an option to change the picture resolution to a 16:9 aspect ratio? If yes, at what amount of megapixels is it?

Thanks for the informatio, I downloaded the app and tried with a picture of my cat and the hair looked sharper, but I had a problem and won't let me use HDR.
Anyone please upload some comparative sample pictures taken with the stock camera app and this other app.
And/or make it able to download from somewhere in the original size and quality so it is comparable in the best way.
No one?
I can pick the phone up this weekend, but I need to know/see if the pictures are better with that other app.
The ones with the stock app are not the best, so I would like to see a comparison.
The only problem with stock app is how the jpeg file is being processed. It needs to be corected as RAW files are much better in terms of quality.
I know.
But I think it is also possible/easier to have a good app that makes better pictures, even in jpg.
I use Camera FV-5 and it always gives me better quality.
That's why my question stands: please post some comparative pictures.
