title says it all, phone wont charge it stays at 0% with a red blinking status light. i charged the battery with an external battery charger and it still shows 0%. what can be causing this? tried 2 batteries same problem. changed chargers and nothing. if the phone is not connected to external power the phone is unresponsive nothing shows.
My LG G5 just started doing the same exact thing 2 days ago, even got a new battery from AT&T but still refuses to turn on; just a red blinking led light and the "charge more to power on" screen. Any suggestions? I tried cleaning the usb port and everything..
LG g5 charged more before trening on

Unfortunately hardware issue. Service only. If you still have warranty contact LG customer service, describe issue and they gonna fix or replace logic board. It will be cheap because this is common issue in this model.

So.. I have googled the crap out of this problem and seen loads of issues raised, but nothing solved.
I am coming from a Dell Streak and grabbed me a galaxy s 2 from craigslist a couple months back.
It has been running fine and I have tried a few roms/kernels and a few days ago I got the following error:
When charged to 100%, I get the notification to unplug, when I do, it sticks. No big deal but even when the phone battery has dropped to around 80% it stays.
It does not go into MTP mode or think it is plugged in via USB. Although, before this problem originated, the phone continuously vibrated between charging and not, when not plugged in.
I have calibrated the battery, tried a mixture of roms/kernels and I am now on unrooted stock. The problem still occurs and sometimes it does not recognise a USB connection, like today.
Probably worth mentioning that when turning on (and not plugged in) the phone does not turn right on, just boots into the battery screen and flashes between the battery charging and the overheating symbol.
Anyone got any ideas?

Turn off the phone and put it on charging. Once it beeps that its fully charged, quickly unplug the battery for 5-10 minutes. Should work and 'recalibrate' your battery
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Thanks, giving a go now.
Do you need root to calibrate though? I am on stock firmware and not in front of a windows machine to use ODIN.

OK, charged to 100% and got the full notification.
Left battery out for 10 mins and whacked it back in.
Turned on and it went to the overheating sign again.
Booted into the samsung recovery and I can boot into android from there.
Battery says it is as 88, cannot calibrate as I do not have root atm.
Any ideas?

Get root and use the battery calibration tool from the market. The best idea so far. I suggest rooting with CF-Root, its fast and easy - its basically still your stock kernel but just with root.
If you really need the warranty or you'r scared of root you can install cf-root, calibrate the battery, then re-flash a stock kernel (unroot)

If i helped you, press thanks. Thanks.
Done and done.
Calibrated, even bought a new battery. Tried various other roms and appears to be an issue. Phone knows when USB is plugged in but does not seem to recognise the unplugging of the charger. And stays at 100% for a while before dropping down to like 80.
One thing to note is that this seemed to happen around the time of buying a dock for the samsung from Amazon, by Kidigi. I plugged the phone in to the dock without a USB cable connected to the dock and the dock LED lit up, making the phone think it was charging. Is this likely to have caused it/messed up the micro usb forever?
Thanks again guys!
well i think ive figured out what the problem was
Its due to overcharging or keeping the charger connected after battrey is full which has caused a hardware damage
im not sure if this is true but this is the closest explanation i can get the phone shows connected to charger even when diconnected only when i keep it connected for long time even after its battrey is full my usb connection has completely stopped working

well that the same problem with me when it shows connected to charger at 100% i restart it then the phone drops to ~80% battery although its 100% which makes the app battery monitor widget think i have a 1977mah battery while i have the standard 1650mah battery this must be the extra 20% which disappeared after the restart for me
I thought it may have been an overcharging problem, although no other phone I have owned has had this problem.
I let the battery charge all the way down (it stayed at 1% for about 3 hours) until it shut itself off. I left it on the side and it created a clicking noise, it was trying to turn the phone on as it knew the battery was in, even though it was depleted.
I plugged it in via USB to charge and it tried to turn on straight away. Shut it down and charged by plug until the 100% notification then turned on.
Still the same problem but one of my battery widgets warned that the battery was over voltage for a while before calming down.
If the phone cannot be off with the battery in, what could be causing that?

It has been known to be caused by a defective circuit board for the USB connector.
So, it needs a samsung return, I assume?
i have the same problem with overheating and usb plugged when there is nothing connected
i changed the usb port from the phone but it still having the problem!!!
i will try to put a new battery and see if it work and after post a reply
I bought a Zopo C2 today and then rooted it. Everything was perfect and nothing seemed wrong. But then when I put it on the charger, it said charging but battery percentage stayed the same. So I decided to reboot my phone. When I rebooted it, it stopped turning on. Whenever I hold the on button, a screen flashes that has a battery picture, some chinese and says Low Battery ---> Power Off and the phone doesn't turn on. I have tried charging heaps but when I charge it, the red light doesn't turn on either and the same thing happens whenever I try to turn phone on. I don't know if this is a battery problem and I should just get new battery or phone issue. I am really worried.. :crying: I just bought this today and it looked like a really good phone.
Somebody... any help pleaseee? :/

Yes I've tried my old android charger and tried it by connecting to computer and still same problem. But thank god I told my supplier and they have agreed to a replacement. Thank you for your help anyway
So I got my MX4 yesterday, opened it like a kid at Christmas. But weirdly the battery won't charge while the phone is turned on.
I left it overnight plugged in to a good charger and turned on, and it didn't even raise 1%. But when I turn it off and connect to a charger it charges with no issues.
I suspect this isn't hardware related due to the fact that it charges fine when turned off.
Anyone have any ideas?
In my case, it was a software problem that has been since fixed with OTA-5.
The battery percentage displayed used to be on the fritz but it's all good now so look for that system update in the settings and let us know if the issue remains
Thanks for the reply!
It's not just a battery % issue though, because it's actually not charging when it's turned on. Like I said if I turn it off and charge it it charges like normal and it starts from the % it was saying it was in the OS.
I do have OTA 5, but I think I might try flashing to Devel and back, or resetting the phone.
Thanks,
For me, I wouldn't see a difference in percentage until I rebooted the device :/
Don't hesitate to contact Meizu's customer service depending on the outcome

Have you contacted a Sony rep? Now I'm a little bit weary about mine since I've never let it die, but I did come pretty close to 1-2% left before full cycling it. Still the best android tablet for me to date, although it's pretty hard to find it online again for a replacement if ever needed be.

Ah, that's what it seems from Sony cables. Don't know why they go bad so easily...
I recently picked up this galaxy s6 edge from a friend that upgraded to a new phone. It won't turn on, neither to android recovery, nor to download mode nor the android. I charged it via wireless charging overnight and i tried for around an hour with a usb cable. What do i do?
same issue i am facing, i tried original charger, wireless charger and fast chargers from many different brands. but all failed. The device only gets warm/hot while charging and nothing happens. neither download mode nor recovery mode works. I am kind pf stuck without any solution, my device was used very rarely and its like an brand new device. Doesn't know what to do, if you find any solution then please let me know too. thanks in advance
Same problem. If I press power button very long, blue light comes on. Then it's stuck and stays like this until battery is flat. Battery charging is not possible: device heats up (tried USB and Qi), but battery doesn't take any charge.
So I opened the S6 and checked the battery directly. I can charge it directly with a lab power supply and when I plug it in and press power button, the blue notification light comes on again until battery is empty again. I can also see that only ICs get hot, but not the battery when plugging in USB.
So, it's definitely some hardware fault. I suspect power IC that is not able to power up the screen. But I don't know. I will investigate further but it looks difficult. However, I have seen many YouTube videos with same symptoms, but problem was always different than mine :/
Hi guys,
This thread is 2 months old, any of you managed to fix the problem?
I am having very similar problem. My phone was on a shelf for about a year and a half. Before now it was working perfectly. Now I can't charge it via USB or power adapter. When trying to power it up or get into download or recovery mode, nothing happens. Computer does not see it. Tried different cables, USB ports, power adapters..nothing.
The only thing that is happening to the phone is the battery logo appears when trying to charge it, though the green bar does not go over battery, only the empty grey battery with lightning icon in the middle. Also the screen does not go dark after a few seconds as it should and the red/blue LED does not turn on.
Is this the signal from the phone, that the battery is to deeply dischareged and cannot be charged again? I am googling all over the web and can't find anybody talking about what phone does in case of to low voltage on battery.
PS back does not seem to be bloated, USB port was working perfectly last time used
Please try to help, you are my last stop before opening the phone and start probing the poop out of motherboard to see what gave.
EDIT: something interesting happened just about an hour after my post. The battery suddenly started showing % of charge and the green bar started running, computer recognized the phone.. as everything should be.
My FIX: leave the phone pluged in and charging for about 3days and it will start working again.
My semi professional explenation of fix and problem: the phone has a ''backup or reserve'' battery. It is actually main battery but the last I think I read somewhere it is 20% of capacity, is reserved for phone exclusively for the clock and all other electronics that need power when switched off. Now these 20% probably were discharged due to laying around for almost 2 years.
It took me 3 days of charging to fill up these ''20%'' I guess. Probably because Lithium batteries are charged VERY slow at very start and end. This is safty procedure for ALL Li batteries.
If any expert can confirm my conclusion please do so, to help other people.
To answer partialy to my question: The phone tells you battery is ''deep'' discharged when you only see the charge icon without the green bar.
In the mean time I was writing this edit I came up to 4% battery and turned it on!
