Redmi Note 3 Pro vs OnePlus 2 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Would you recommend the Redmi Note 3 Pro over the Oneplus 2 if both are going for the same price right now?

Redmi note 3 pro was better, you will get twice update a week with global dev rom.

For Cam one plus 2 i think ....

oneplus 2 has no sd card option and costs 2 times more then redmi note 3 pro... so get a redmi note 3 pro.
160€ compared to 319€ for op2... get a redmi...
i come from an oneplus x and i am totally happy. only thing i miss is oled display

It depends on what you're looking for.
If for good camera, then probably one+2,if for good battery life then redmi.
There are many other thing s you have to consider, like type of display, system, sdcard slot etc. So it's really up to your personal preference.

nope not for me because i have a 128 gb sd card so the op2 died for me directly as choice. XD
but if you care about gaming etc, get a op2.
i use my phone for internet and media stuff, so i dont need a good gpu. i am actually realy surprised abeit my redmi note 3 pro. if you want a good costum rom support, get one with the snapdragon (qualcom) processor.
unlock bootloader with official tool like op... worked all like charm, i am happy camera is also fine. i mean... i dont expect an dlsr but camera is pretty fine for a phone.
if your phone goes broken, you have the same ****ty china support by both sides.
additional, miui is kind of nice and you get one dev update per week.
by op you can wait much longer.
but i use aicp rom, so also no matter for me.
so all together: you get a good device if you want updates and sd cards.
if you prefer more a better camera and more performance, get a op2.
but honestly... i dont pay much attention on performance but i am a power user and my xiaomi is working like charm in pro edition with 3gb ram.

the OP2 has less performance !

How? The 810 soc is very powerful and though it had it's share of overheating, looks like guys on the OP2 forums fixed that with a ton of kernel tweaks. i'm seeing antutu scores of between 90 - 103 on their cm14 rom's and let's not even get started on the GPU...Point is the 810 is very still a flagship soc. Snapdragon 821>820>810>>652>650...

Oh no I don't think, In benchmark s810 better than 650 yes, but in reality.... the a72 are fastest same if they are only 2 than the "old gen" cores of S810...
The GPU isn't stable a long time, when the GPU of 650 is perfectly stable ... looks manhattan longterm performance (30minutes) same if in theory 510 = 418 or 420 in practical it's a stable GPU so really better than us and same than 810, maybe one 810 could be better it's the nexus 6p... but OP2 really not ...

buy the note 2 OR the note 3 ?

hi guys i really want to know why to buy the redmi 3 if it have almost the same specification like the note 2. i can but the redmi 2 16gb at : 130$ [ ill add 32gb memory card ]
and the redmi 3 32gb for 210$. is the camera so good, or the finger print reader are a good reason to pay 70-80 $ extra ?!
if ill buy the redmi 16gb for about 170$ im afraid from lack of space ): so what to do ? :crying:
[ sorry about my bad English ]
Redmi Note 2 Prime vs Redmi Note 3
Redmi Note 2 Prime (32GB version):
-Better processor clock (2.2. GHz vs 2.0GHz)
-Better Price
-Bootloader unlock (-> Unofficial European ROM available)
-SD-card slot
Redmi Note 3 (32GB version)
-Fingerprint sensor
-Metal body
-Better Battery (4000mAh vs 3060mAh)
-Dual Tone LED
In my opinion Redmi Note 2 Prime is much better than Redmi Note 3 that isn't usable because it has got a locked bootloader.
~ Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime ~
Id prefer rn2 over rn3 because of its price and its little development comunity. The only thing I like of rn3 is its metal body and better batery life (3000 mah vs 4000 mah), but for me it is not worthy.

We must be objective: RN2 battery life is short, compared to others smartphones with 3000 mAh (+/-).

The only way to have a long battery is to avoid the use of Facebook and Whatsapp in my opinion (Facebook for sure).

Yep, hes right, rn2 hasnt a great battery life even its big battery, but it still being acceptable, it just could be better. However, i have heard in some video reviews that rn3 is even worst with battery, and there isnt any real difference with rn2.
And well, i have a rn2 with last developer rom from xiaomi.eu, and it hasnt a great battery life, some releases ago it was pretty nice, but since the last 2 versions its been worst. However, this means that the problem is from the ROM and not from the phone, and as they are getting optimized we will have better battery life, and even better when we get marshmallow since lollipop has problems with this and with RAM management.
I still thinking rn2 is better option , but you decide my friend.

It will, rn2 will get marshmallow, its confirmed, it will get it maybe in may of this year. And yep, is interesting, you should watch or read some reviews of it.
Marshmallow
The Redmi Note 2 has been confirmed to get Marshmallow in a few months.
Also, I do have my RN2 at the moment and a huge downfall is stock MIUI RAM consumption.
I'd say the RN2, bigger community and like someone said, unlocked bootloader.

AFAIK, there are no RN2-16GB-specific ROMs.
And considering that:
1. It's not possible to build a custom kernel for our phone, right now
2. As a result of 1, all custom ROMs use Xiaomi's pre-built kernels from official MIUI ROMs (which in turn, are designed to work on all versions of RN2)
..I don't think it likely that such ROMs will appear in the foreseeable future.

I'm also thinking about buying RN2 or RN3 and I found this post: http://en.miui.com/thread-202290-1-1.html
It seems that unlocking the bootloader in RN3 is possible now and actually not hard at all. Does anyone have RN3 to try this?
I have a Note 2 and I would prefer this. SD Card and removable battery are too much to lose only to have a metal unibody (that maybe will always covered by a cover)
May be redmi note 3 32GB is better ,battery 4000mAH
I have the Note 3 and regret it, should have gone for the Note 2 and my reasons are:
Pros of the Note 3 vs Note 2
- Battery
- Metal Build
Cons Note 3:
- Fingerprint sensor only has one use, which is to turn on the screen, you can't use with anything else...
- No expandable storage
- And the main one, that is driving me mad is the locked bootloader, you can unlock it, but you have to request the code on their website, but to get this code you have to wait a long time, some are saying 14+ days and you might not be selected, like if you have to be special to get it, WTF Xiaomi???
So if you don't care about the plastic build, go for the Note 2, it's cheaper, with expandable storage, faster CPU on the Prime model and a freaking unlocked bootloader.
Seems there's a way to unlock RN3 bootloader, I'll quote from Xiaomi.eu website:

A Redmi note 4 HelioX20 MIUI 8 Andriod 6 or a Redmi Note 3 Pro 3GB RAM W/ Snapdragon?

Should I purchase a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with Helio X20 MIUI 8 with Android 6 or a Redmi Note 3 pro with Snapdragon? Even if Xiaomi releases a Note 4 with Snapdragon is there much of a difference in the 4 to wait, by chance? Seeking opinions, if I am in the wrong forum please guide me, thanks.
Always choose for Snapdragon. By my own experience.
Only take a look to the Snapdragon v/s Mediatek version dev sub-forum....
the x20 is faster, but not by much. the sd650 is proven very battery efficient
i would go for the sd too
Redmi Note 3 Pro by a long way. Unless you are happy using MIUI then RN4 may be ok. I cannot stand MIUI. Personally if you could wait then wait for the Redmi 4. Its supposed to be 5" 1080p Snapdragon 625. I am waiting for it as the RN3 Pro is too big for my hands.

Yup looks like it. Time to play the waiting game for hopefully an early Christmas present :good:
Xiaomi should compete against the Samsung A9 Pro for the next Redmi Note. That has a 6" screen, dual SIM and separate MicroSD slots (no hybrid slot nonsense), 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage.
A larger Redmi Note would be welcome, for me anyway, because a Mi Max is simply too big. I wouldn't get a Mediatek-based phone ever again after being stuck with KitKat on a Note 3G. Qualcomm are a lot more respectful of GPL issues. Anyway, I think the Helio X20 has too many small cores - these work well in benchmarks but they do nothing for real world usage.

This is a developer forum, not a marketplace. You can poach customers somewhere else.
Helio X20 have a little better performance in CPU and Adreno 510 burns Mali-T880 MP4 in Helio X20 and even X25.
Helio X20 CPU is 4+4+2. More like Snapdragon 615 with 2 high performance core from 650. But since XDA having far better support for Snapdragon.
If you want a better performance, go for Note 3 Snapdragon.
I'm predicting Note 4 Snapdragon will use Snapdragon 652/653 with 2/3GB Variant and a special edition with 4GB RAM will wreck any mid-range smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi note 3 pro or Used Samsung note 4

Hi,
Thinking of getting either of these phones which would better? Thanks
Brand new xiaomi redmi note 3 Snapdragon version or Used Samsung Note 4 Snapdragon/exynos version
Without any doubt, go for RN3 Pro. With SD650 it's a beast. Also, as far as I know, there wouldn't be any official OTA updates from Samsung for Note 4. While Xiaomi will keep updating RN3 with latest MIUI for atleast 3 more years! So, your choice. What would you want - an abandoned Galaxy phone or a furure proof RN3. Not to mention the great development RN3 is having.
Depends on what you are looking for.
Samsung Note 4 has the slightly larger screen with more vivid colours, better cellular signal, replaceable battery, much better camera, S-Pen, and better overall GPU performance (for now, I don't know if Vulkan with the Adreno 510 will change that). It's pretty much stuck at Marshmallow and not even sure if it is getting security updates anymore as that is left to the carriers and most seem to have stopped doing that (in Canada at least).
Redmi has larger battery, better CPU performance, better fingerprint reader.
redmi better gpu !
So gaming performance redmi better?

Is redmi note 4 worth buying ?

Hello guys
So I've been using my nexus 5x along with my moro e for few months now
Recently my nexus 5x ran into some problems I couldn't solve
So I'm now looking for new device
Is redmi note 4 worth buying for me ?
When I was using nexus 5x. ..I've been using lot of custom ROMs .. Can i expect same from redmi note 4 ?
I need notification light as well
While on nexus 5x. . if I relock my boot loader I could claim my warranty ..does the same goes with xiaomi ?
Please someone answer these questions and suggest me

If you really like MIUI, then I'd say its worth it...There's not a lot available for custom ROMs and I don't know if there ever will be. I also am unsure if Xiaomi will ever bring Nougat to the phone either, though I would expect it at this point.
The phone is pretty fast..It's the software that is holding it back...I have a Nextbit Robin with the 808 processor (Same as your 5x), and this thing smokes the robin in real world performance (And Geekbench4).

That's the story for every Mi and I've used a couple.
To me the best solution would be getting rid of MIUI and going with stock... but on Mi h/w. Easier said than done though. Ah well at least one can get the Google Now launcher and the app drawer.
I've been a 'flashaholic' with my previous phone the LG G3, and changing to RN4 is a pretty big deal for me(because MediaTek and MIUI)
You can't expect the same support since you're coming from a NEXUS device but there's a decent amount of ROMs for the RN4 here and more to come.
Stock MIUI 8 isn't bad actually, just paired it with root access, nougat theme and nova launcher. All good for me.

if you get it for cheap then yeah. TRy getting the snapdragon version for INSANE battery life. Apart from that, the MTK version shares all the same features (like camera quality) as the snapdragon one. One thing though; the MTK one charges one hour faster that the Snapdragon version. For the record, the 4100Mah Redmi note 4 MTK charges in 2 hours and 10 minutes from 5% using a 5V 2A charger. add 1 hour for the snapdragon version.

Yes it does.
Nougat based MIUI beta version is available. I have been using 4 GB model & my advice is to just go for it.
I have preferred MIUI & have stuck to Xiaomi handsets. Recently, I purchased Moto Z Play as Xiaomi phones were coming hybrid Sim with just 32 GB internal memory, which were not fulfilling my needs. But I was annoyed by lack of customisation, firewall, Blocklist, Call Recorder, internet speed meter & auto BackUp, which are present in MIUI & are absent in Moto Z Play. Now for Moto Z Play, I had to install a lot of additional softwares, but sense of perfection with MIUI was somehow missing. In first Redmi Note 4 sale, I purchased a 4GB variant & sold Moto Z Play for pittance.

Which phone will you buy after this one?

Like the title says, which phone would you consider to replace this one if it were to break? Is there a phone out there that could be a worthy successor?
There are better phones of course.just not for the price.if my rn3 broke I would definitely buy another.i feel that for $180 the choices are very limited and xiaomi hit the mark.thats just my opinion tho.

And if you look that it is on top 3 custom rom devices... Then its very hard to say which will be next or rn3 again:laugh:

Mi 6C
Maybe future redmi note phones...
I'm waiting for a mid-high end or flagship phone with 4000+ mah battery & vooc/dash charging.
Its weird reading users praising their rm3000 ($700+) devices for getting 5-6 hours sot per day while I can easily get 8-10 hours on this 'budget' device.
Oh yeah I want my next phone to have great custom rom support to like this phone.
