I live in a rural area where the only t-mobile coverage has been 2G Edge from a partner tower. Recently I was told by a T-Mobile rep that my area has been upgraded to Band 12 (700mhz) coverage but I am still only getting 2G. If I go into the nearest town I get Band 4 (2100mhz) reception with no problem. Is there something about being rooted, running a custom rom and unlocked bootloader that would prevent Band 12 reception?

Could I flash a t-mobile radio to get my GSM/UMTS radio to operate on ALL of T-Mobiles HSPA frequencies? cause edge sucks and I know for a fact there's HSPA in my area cause my friend with the Galaxy note 2 T-mobile has HSPA.

It depends.
Verizon 700MHz Block C band 13, 1200/1900 AWS band 4.
AT&T 700MHz Block B Band 17, 1700AWS Band 4.
So the answer is only in markets where 1700AWS Band 4 is deployed for AT&T otherwise you ge HSPA+ which is not truly 4G.
Yes, he is right above. Where I live and have visited, I get LTE on both ATT and T-Mobile, or Edge on T-Mobile where they haven't yet refarmed their Edge towers. H+ is fine for me though, when I do sometimes see it. I have not had my Verizon LTE sim in my VG3 for over a month.
I get ATT LTE on the G3 often in regions like the NC coast where T-Mobile is only Edge.

No, you should run the RUU's in the order given so that the firmware gets updated properly. The RUU should update the firmware and ROM. Keep in mind that the AT&T variant phone doesn't have all of the T-Mobile variant's bands but in most locations you will get their LTE.
Which band?
The AT&T Version of the M7 does not have the 1700/2100 HSPA band that T-Mobile uses for their "4G" (Not 4G LTE), unless you live in a refarmed area where it uses the 1900 band. It shouldn't be much of an issue because the Band 4 LTE T-Mobile uses is on the same 1700/2100 frequency, which the AT&T M7 does have.
In short, you won't get fake 4G often, but you will get LTE (In most cases, no Band 12 on the M7)

Seems like most of central CA from SF to LA and areas in between have band 4 lte and band 4 hspa. 1900mhz
Ill switch back to the nexus 6 thats in my drawer when band 12 is in fresno.
Although I am missing one hand usability that i cant do with nexus 6.
But other than the gs6 there are no other good band 12 devices. I was going to get the z3 until it was pulled
I recently got notice from T-Mobile that my current phone will not work with changes they are making to the LTE network. So, I was looking to get the M7, but I'm having trouble finding out if the M7 will work on the changes they are making to the LTE network. I like the info I've read about the M7, and the price seems about what I would spend. Anyone understand the LTE stuff at T-Mobile?
I want to make sure I get a new phone that isn't just on one band, if that one band is not as prevalent as others that are not supported on the M7.
Hi need help please , I have a Galaxy S4 I545 , I can anly connect on 3G and even in the back of the device says s4 verizon 4g lte . When I change the LTE network goes without service. Let alone globally connect on 3G, I wonder if I can enable or install 4G LTE bands . Thank you
The SCH-I545 should have 4G enabled automatically. 4G is already installed on the phone unless it has been messed with (ROM,kernel etc.). Is it possible you are just not in a 4G area or have it on your Sim?
Are you located in the States?
The phone is 4G capable, only in USA. Outside, its only 3G. That is how Verizon did it, locking bands so Verizon users cannot have LTE with other providers like T-Mobile or Sprint or ATT. T-Mobile should work worldwide. For Verizon, you will need to unlock bands.
What country are you in ? Most probably, you need band 3 or band 28 which are deactivated.
I'm from Morocco

I'm from france. I use "SFR" carrier searched about it I need band 3, 7 and 20. I tried using hidden menu (*#27....#) but still can't unlock bands.
Anyone know a method to allow LTE bands?
I'm in USA X829 currently on METRO PCS GSM carrier. I'm getting LTE fine but its not switching to 3G. I'm currently running linage ROM. This phone does support 3g band for my carrier. My question, is there a secret menu or something to setup a priority for LTE 3g? I know on some TouchWiz ROMs this is possible. I've also tried flashing Chinese, USA and the developer modem. Would only get LTE or H H+. Would not show 3G and wouldn't get any data till I'm in a LTE capable area.
Did a little more research H+ and H are faster than 3g. But I wasn't getting any data when they turned on
