Because no one wanted to keep bothering with the aosp roms because lots of broken stuff. (second screen / camera) and only t-mobile version is bootloader unlocked.(for US)
That's my sum up. Others may have more / different input.

Looking for an Alpha Lollipop build for the G2? Look no further!

"The G2 Dream Team" (and they well deserve that name) has released not one, but TWO lollipop builds for the LG G2. Both ROMs are based on the same build tree, but one ROM is CM12 and the other is a LiquidSmooth 4.0 ROM. Despite being built from the same build tree, they carry different features. They are stable and usable for daily drivers, but they may carry some bugs, like a non-functional video playback, NFC issues for LS/VS980 but it should all be sorted out in the near future. Head over to the threads to read more!:

Older posts:
An increasing amount of devices have been receiving unofficial Android Lollipop 5.0 ports, like the HTC One M8 and the LG Optimus L9. Today another device can be added to the list of phones receiving a treatment with the taste of Android Lollipop, the LG G2. While there generally has been a wide contribution from the community; testing, sharing files and giving ideas, two XDA members stood out in particular in order to create the build, @ylukasy and @InfinitusDesigner. The port is still in a very early pre-alpha stage, and the bugs are barely known yet, but the ROM boots and has even been rooted! While it might be wisest to wait until an official thread has been made before grabbing your devices and start flashing, @ylukasy has already provided a download link for the ROM, and calls for people to help discover the bugs so that they can be eliminated. Please notice that the ROM might not be stable enough to be used as a daily driver, but owners of a LG G2 are officially an important step closer to having a stable Lollipop ROM!
If this post caught your interest and you're willing to take the risk, head over to the last pages in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/unofficial-cm12-nexus-5-posted-t2936398
As previously mentioned, a lot of things are not sorted out yet, and the build might not be for your device number, so make sure you read the entire thread before continuing, or simply wait untill an official thread is made.
Update:
An official thread has been posted and it can be found by following this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-android-lollipop-fast-clean-t2941922
The build is a port of the Nexus 5 ROM, and users of the ROM have been saying that the rom is very fast and fluid, calls work, camera works (although the quality is inferior), but other users have been reporting random reboots and incompatibilities with certain apps such as YouTube or WhatsApp.

This post will be updated regularly when new information regarding Lollipop ports surface.
Fantastic News! Will get round to trying it shortly, thanks for the link!
While I have my doubts about it being functional (or even booting) on my LS980, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Nice to see things moving at breakneck speeds these days.
On a side note, I just read the AnandTech review of the Nexus 6 and am happy to report that my well over a year old G2 beats it in several benchmarks so I'm pretty satisfied at the moment, especially considering I got it for free. I mean really...
In before "no build for xxxx?!?!?!?"
Anyone know how to port a d802 rom to d800?
Ready to try it out and see what happened..??
his build is from the same source the other was he doesn't deserve credit for it. it's using cm12 kernel and dev claims it's using nexus 5 port yet requires gapps and no signs of any nexus 5 code at all.
Wouldn't it be alot easier to just post the download link here?

It's not my work, and there are some steps which must be followed in order to make it work. I am just objectively informing any news regarding Android Lollipop for the LG G2.
OP has been updated.
The download link was removed before i could get the v3 version so im stuck with v2 and ive been using it as my daily (yeah it reboots every 5 minuets and i can leave wifi on or it will bootloop) But honestly thats the fun in testing this stuff out

Can anyone port the Nexus 5 ROM?
Updating this thread later today if nothing gets in the way.
Hi everybody!!
I need a tester please:
I built pure AOSP for the D802 from sources of Android right now, has anybody time to test it?
It is an experimental build and I didn't test it right now, so I don't know if it is working, please make a backup from your current rom.
The build comes with an built in CWM recovery and should be with root access. It can be flashed with the same instructions like the CM 12 build.
Edit: Bootloop right now ... Anybody, can you take a logcat?
http://builds.hubdroid.com/otherroms/aosp_d802-ota-102.zip
Thank you in advance!! Please anybody who tries it: can you send me a pm?

I'd love to test this for you, but I'm on Sprint LS980 Would you mind making a build for us?

Yes sure, but right now, I have to solve the bug, that the d802 wouldnt boot, so this may take some more time until I build it for other devices too.

Android 6.0 for the E970 (update)

can some of you fantastic developers create an Android M ROM for the LG Optimus G E970 at some point? does anyone have an ETA? I would love to learn to build it myself, but I have limited access to a computer (The library is practically my only source). I noticed that there is no developer preview for the Nexus 4, so would that slow down the building process? Thank you a lot!
Update : @ChiKaLiO is working on a few variants for the Optimus G and might start soon for geeb . Someone else has released Marshmallow for other variants...is anyone else working on it?

We'll have to compile from source for a bug-free version for the e970. However, there is a Google employee that's working on a version of M for the Nexus 4, so we may just be able to port that version on to our phone. ETAs are a big no-no. I'd get pissed if people kept asking when I'm going to release something when I'm working tirelessly to squash bugs and have a working build. It'll come. Patience is key.
Now that there is a Nexus 4 Marshmallow ROM out, is there someone experienced working on E970 Marshmallow (not asking for an ETA) or someone who could give me some tips on doing it myself as my first ROM?
yeah, an CM M Rom would be nice!

apparently there's already an M rom out for the nexus 4 (aosp) as well as the international optimus g (e975/f180 i believe). thing is i don't want to go back to a broken rom without a lot of features (biggest pain for me is changing mac addresses since my workplace uses mac filtering for allowing wifi devices). hopefully it'll come around before the year's out, preferably with some of M's bugs removed as well but ya never know.
There are a couple different ones built for the intl optimus g, e975.
If someone builds a 6.0 kernel for e970, most of those roms should actually work with little other modification.
kernel
i have one, but it is very unstable
kamera isn`t working properly, and video broken
Hope devs do make an M build
I skipped L, not interested in it, and Ive been quite happy on my 4.4.4 SlimRom and do hope Slim, Bliss or CM make builds for our phone with help of devs such as optimus, its an awesome phone and really dont feel the need to change it still, nothing new has really wowed me on new phones exept maybe some cameras but dont take much of video or pics so hope the comunity does deliver an M version for our phone.
Waiting patiently
I also am interestef in an M ROM. I installed M on my Galaxy S4 and love it. But i am selling it now (need the cash) and am keeping my e970.
Marshmallow for E970
I have been running the geeb version of Marshmallow (Nitrogen by Mr Mex) again now for a week or so (March 1 version). The biggest problem is the SIM card is intermittently not recognized when not on a call (shows EMERGENCY CALL ONLY instead of carrier) and Layers does not appear to be as stable for themeing as CM's theme engine though I have found a couple of Layers that spare my retinas.
You can download at http://xyyx.ga/nitrogen-os/geeb/ and install using TWRP v2.8 though Philz last CWM derivative may work as well. I still have one foot in the Resurrection Remix v5.6.4 (Lollipop) camp as it runs nicely on my E970 without the SIM recognition issue and with Privacy Guard and Interruptions has basically the same featureset as Marshmallow just a slightly different implementation. In addition CM themeing appears more polished than Layers for Marshmallow (not necessarily Lollipop) at this time as some Layers cause system problems.
If you want to see how well it works for you I would skip installing any Layers or Xposed until you've run it for a day or so to cut down variables.

GEEB builds
No problem with camera or SD. There was a major camera problem for a while but that has been fixed in recent builds.

The e975 is a geehrc device and the e970 is a geeb device. The ROM won't install. It fails with the error stating that it requires a geehrc device.

You do not mention what recovery you used or wipes performed, et cetera.
It installed for me using TWRP 3.0 (for geeb). I dirty flashed (cache wipes only) over my March 1st Nitrogen install.

Death of Cyanogen, what does this mean for the Swift 2+

Hello, I should be buying a Swift 2 Plus soon, and as a complete noob, I don't know what the death of Cyanogen is going to do to my device. Obviously it won't instantly brick it, but how am I gonna get future Android updates without installing a custom rom?

Please, read my post here, and the (unconfirmed) Wileyfox's response to Cyanogen move here. It should be enough to clear your doubts

One thing relating more to the custom ROM area. So some of the CM team (not COS) are rebranding as lineage OS right. And they are continuing off the codebase of CM however we don't have a build of CM so how will and developer , from lineage or anywhere else, build a custom ROM without code from CM or AOSP. Unless Cyanogen Inc release the source code for our phone which I'm not sure they will. (Sorry if this is a noob question)

You're absolutely correct. We can't start with the development with no sources. However, I don't think Cyanogen would do that at the moment, and, after seeing Wileyfox's response to Cyanogen moves, I think (and actually hope) they'll switch to an AOSP-based ROM with Android N 7.0 upgrade, and if that happens I'm really sure they'll have no problem on releasing the source code (remember Wileyfox devices tend to be quite developer-friendly). From that, we can work on bringing Lineage...

Why no support for the G5 RS988

I have the unlocked U.S. Variant RS988.. Why is there zero support for this device.. I see ROMs for the 830 and 850 but not this device or seemingly the vs987? Does anyone know of any custom ROMs for the rs988?

Yes, I have this exact same question, as you can see in my thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/request-custom-roms-rs988-unlocked-t3636605
Really again, I do not mean to annoy any developers or users, but it would be AWESOME if we could get even one custom ROM on this device. Fulmics, Lineage, Paranoid Android, Resurrection Remix, Dirty Unicorns, ANYTHING. I would be incredibly happy, and my experience with my phone would also be improved.
Also, a humble question, is it harder to develop for the RS988 because it's newer? Because the 830 and 850 models have TWRP and all, but the RS988 also has an official bootloader unlock method. Again, this is not meant to be an annoyance, simply a question.

First thing it's wrong section
custom ROM depends on users choice and usage and different people may have different views
if you look for best stability but limited customization opt for omni ROM or AOSP-E
If you looking for super customisations then go for CrDroid, Resurrection Remix, Havoc-OS etc
but if you looking for balanced one along with decent battery backup go for MiracleDroid
my recommendation CrDroid
daily driver ( must try) : MiracleDroid
I found that the latest AOSiP (Illusion Project) combined with Stormguard kernel gave me really excellent battery life, had lots of options and good performance.
I also really like Alexey711's LineageOS Extended. I don't think he posts here on XDA, but keeps his wares on AFH. He updates regularly and provides lots of good options.
Then lastly, I also love MIUI 10. I prefer Xiaomi.eu's version, but also really like Escobar1945's version (eagerly waiting for that update!).
In the end though, every single user has different needs and different usage patterns. Best thing is to try them all. Try different combinations of ROMs and kernels until you find one that works best for you.
