Hi all,
Just want to help a bit with the CM12S. Flash the attached zip if you want root in apps and ADB.
I grabbed a debuggable boot.img from the official CM servers here:
Code:
http://builds.cyngn.com/cyanogen-os/bacon/12.0-YNG1TAS0YL-bacon/2263178b74/cm-12.0-YNG1TAS0YL-bacon-boot-debuggable.img
EDIT: New OTA [YNG1TAS17L]:
Code:
http://builds.cyngn.com/cyanogen-os/bacon/12.0-YNG1TAS17L-bacon/e816218e8a/cm-12.0-YNG1TAS17L-bacon-boot-debuggable.img
Then, I simply put them in a flashable zip format together with su binary from the latest CM12 nightly. I have tested it on my own phone and so far, there is no issue.
I have only tested it using TWRP, flash on your own risk.
Credits to @julian_klode:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/flashable-zip-enable-integrated-superuser.75511/
Note: I initially wasn't aware about the source of the base zip file that I used to pack the necessary files until julian_klode mentioned it in the Q&A thread.
There is no difference between this one and his, just the fact that I update mine manually. So, I think you should follow his thread instead.
Or just flash the SuperSu zip via recovery.

Outstriped! I was thinking to make Debug kernel, but they released it sooner
Thank you so much. Puzzle and Dragons doesn't like Supersu, but works perfect with CM's superuser.
works fine here, thanks!

Some people, like me, prefer CM's own root. Integration with Privacy Guard is pretty nifty, you know?

sorry for my noob question. but i actually flashed supersu. that wont affect anything. i am asking this cause yesterday i had to factory reset my device 4 times as it got stuck at cyanogen boot animation. It would boot fine couple of times and then get stuck.

I have never tried SuperSU in my OPO Lollipop since I found out about the built-in root support, so I can't say what's wrong with it. Bootloops may be caused by stuck up boot process, which may be caused by kernel.
If I'm not wrong, I remember last time when Lollipop launched that SuperSU need to patch the kernel in a certain way for it to run properly. My solution also works with a different kernel, albeit it is provided officially by Cyanogen.
If you really want SuperSU for some reason, you can try flashing SuperSU and then flash the boot.img from the link above (or extract it from my zip). Latest TWRP will do it just fine.

SuperSU plus CM root don't play well together. Take a look through Caulk's stock 5.0.2 thread and you'll see several people having problems - manifested by flashing SuperSU and then trying to open Developer Options. It FCs. Just use the built-in CM root or disable CM root before you flash SuperSU.
All good here! I went into the Supersu settings and did a FULL UNINSTALL OF ROOT. Once that was done, I went into TWRP and flashed CM zip provided by OP... Bam. Done and no problems. Thank you, OP!

I perhaps wasn't very clear about my above suggestion.
What I meant is that, there is an official insecure boot.img (the kernel) which I linked above and included in my zip package. I'm not telling him to install both SuperSU and the built-in root.
SuperSU has some features that is not present in the built-in root though, like logging or tapjacking protection. Privacy Guard is pretty nifty, but I still miss the old interface of SuperSU.

I think it's the issue with Franco's own kernel... Even the nightly CM12 users with the built-in root enabled also had the root access disabled.
SuperSU works in this case because it relies on an init.d su-enabling service.
Just wait for Franco to fix it, since the CM11S versions works well with the built-in root. I am also a FK paid user, so this is a bad situation for me as well...
If you could update this asap to the YNG1TAS17L build that would be awesome thanks a lot for your hard work! Edit: nvm was able to make my own.

Care to share it? I presume that the version in the OP won't work with the new v5.02 OTA?
I uploaded it here sorry it's not a better host but I'm on my phone ATM lol. http://uploadmirrors.com/download/R8ADOYOG/icial-12.0-signed-YNG1TAS17L-bacon-superuser.zip All I did was get the ota URL from here and changed the ending to cm-12.0-YNG1TAS17L-bacon-boot-debuggable.img I guess the system automatically makes the debug images when the ota rolls out. So I imagine the same thing would work for next ota. You just rename it to boot.img and replace the one in the zip from this thread and rename the zip and flash.

Hello, i am willing to donate if someone can figure out a way to Root the new Acer Predator 8 GT-810 Tablet. Been looking everywhere and tried many common root apps with no luck. Thanks in advance.
Mee Too! I will also donate when someone helps me to root the Acer predator 8.
Amazing tablet, but what's the point when you can't root and hook up your Ps3 controller to play some emulators?
First i need root for the device to get it Ad-free and to install appOops, to delete tons of bloatware, a working recovery would be great and some custom Roms also.
I would love to have root for this tablet too
Anybody knows, how to root Acer Predator 8 GT-810 ?
I can unlock the bootloader, unfortunately I need to compile TWRP to install the SU binaries. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to compile TWRP for a device that no devs are working on, I would love to try to do this myself. Thanks!

Hi man,
You can visit the "Taiwan101 ROM Factory" of Facebook to ask he how to compile TWRP to install the SU binaries.
URL as below : .facebook.com/tw101.rom.factory/?fref=ts
Please add www at the .facebook.com/
so I cannot use "post outside links".
(To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!)
And if you success root Acer GT-810, please help provide the Root Tool to me, thank you very much.:fingers-crossed:
I might have a way of easily flash TWRP, and install SuperSU, use the Temporary recovery project to boot temporarily into twrp and flashing supersu, theres an easy way of getting twrp permanently but ill try it when i get the tablet 31th of this month.
Also this temporary recovery does not require an unlocked bootloader since it uses a flaw in bootloader to load twrp, but it might be patched, just try it.
Perhaps this new found exploit can be used in rooting this tablet. http://arstechnica.com/security/201...tflips-to-root-android-phones-is-now-a-thing/
Hi, i am thinking of getting one for my son to replace his aging xoom. I want a tablet that can be rooted so I can get rid of bloat wire, not overly fussed about a rom.
I have googled rooting and came across a page How to root Acer Predator 8 GT-810 on androidrootmania.net
Has anyone tried any of these methods of root. Thankyou in advance for replies

it's okay, if you root Acer GT-810 successfully, please help me how to root it with root tool, Thank you very much.
I want use xposed on Acer GT-810.
I think its time to share at least some results, i was able to port TWRP 3.0.2 to this device AND ROOTING this device. ill leave twrp 3.0.2 here for who wants it. Please read all of the post.
=============================================================================================
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ROOTING:
After flashing TWRP 3.0.2, use the SuperSU 2.46 flashable zip, do NOT use latest version or will result in a bootloop. Good Luck and have fun with rooting. Links on bottom of the post.
=============================================================================================
REQUIREMENTS
1- Unlocked Bootloader (search on google if you dont know how to unlock)
2- Drivers and Adb/Fastboot commands knowledge
=============================================================================================
New TWRP bugfix update! Now you can flash stock rom on TWRP without bricking! Download Page updated!
=============================================================================================
Bugs:
1- adb shell command needs to be sent before system partition is mounted or it will give an error, after doing adb shell you can mount system and do all the modifications you need.
2- You cant flash any img on twrp it gives an error, im trying to fix.
3- Backups do work, but everytime twrp restarts, the device name seems to change (which means that on /TWRP/BACKUPS/devicename/backupsinside/ changes every reboot so you have to go get the backup inside the old devicename folder and put on the new devicename folder).
=============================================================================================
Im leaving an unsecured boot image because system seems not want to boot android if anything seems changed. So please if system does not boot after flashing twrp/rooting, flash the unsecured boot img on fastboot.
=============================================================================================
Also im asking just a little bit of your time to request our device to have our own forum threads as it will make it a lot easier to manage the development and make it easier for people with same device to find it, request it here, the more people the better the higher chances we get to see a forum thread for our device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354

on this thread simply scroll up and you should see it, its saying what bugs and names of the images are pretty straightforward.. flash the unsecured boot (its names osmething like that), and flash the TWRP.img, the root you will have to search on google for version 2.46, if u use the latest you will have bootloop
This is for the Sprint SM-T587P "gtaxlqltespr" Galaxy Tab A 10.1 variant only.
As far as I can tell, the Nougat update came out for the Sprint Variant sometime around the 20th of September 2017. Update to the T587PVPU1BQI1 Nougat update if you have not already.
1. Read all instructions, there are no known issues. Be on 7.0.0 official. (QI1)
2 Enable Developer Options. Settings, About Device, Software info, tap on build number until it is enabled.
3. Enable OEM unlock and USB Debugging in the Developer Options menu.
There are a couple options here. You can do any combination of the following:
install TWRP
root via superuser (requires installing TWRP)
disable dm-verity (requires installing TWRP)
root by flashing magisk patched bootimage (does not require TWRP)
disable force-encryption (requires installing twrp)(required if you want TWRP to see /data/ files)(not required for flashing zips such as superuser through TWRP)
To install TWRP:
1. Boot into download mode
2. Launch ODIN, Uncheck "Auto Reboot" in the options tab. Flash included TWRP file in the AP section of ODIN.
To Disable Force-Encryption (if want to see /data/ in twrp)
1. Install TWRP recovery
2 Boot into TWRP recovery
3. Format Data
4. Reboot into TWRP from TWRP reboot menu, without rebooting into system.
5. Flash the included superuser.zip to disable force-encryption and dm-verity
To Root via superuser or disable dm-verity
1. Install TWRP recovery.
2. Boot into TWRP recovery
3. flash superuser.zip (this needs to be done with ADB if you have not disabled force-encryption and are unable to see /data/)
Superuser root provided as-is. Magisk is the recommended root. If you prefer the outdated, beta, un-updatable phh superuser binary which breaks safetynet that's all you. However it is the only way i have found to disable dm-verity.
Magisk v16 root:
Device is stock
If you have not installed twrp, disabled dm-verity, or disabled force encryption:
1. Boot into Download Mode
2. Use the AP section of ODIN to install "fe-dm-patched_boot.img.tar"
Disabled dm-verity, but NOT force-encryption
If you did not format DATA in TWRP and have installed superuser.zip using ADB:
1. Boot into Download Mode
2. Use the AP section of ODIN to install "fe-patched_boot.img.tar"
Disabled Both
If you disabled dm-verity AND disabled force-encryption:
1. Boot into Download Mode
2. Use the AP section of ODIN to install "Magiskv16_patched_boot.img.tar"
WIFI IS NOW WORKING AFTER ROOT/BOOT PATCH

Should work or does? You're right, there are many tab a variants, and unlike the ones you develop for, this variant is a snapdragon 625. While you say su 2.82 should work, you would also think 2.72 would work. Bootloop. I included a working su to flash standalone that DOES work in my op for people who do not care about systemless magisk, which is the recommended root at any rate.

Haha, I didn't realize you had to subscribe to your own threads, I didn't know people were even replying in here for weeks. Thank you for attempting to compile, i know there are some tutorials on xda, i'm pretty sure an flashing an SELinux permissive kernel will fix the wifi issue with the magisk root. I do not know that I'll ever have the time or motivation to compile it myself, but I can help to test.
Thanks arlyn! Will definitely be trying this out.
Says root is not properly installled.... any ideas? I followed directions to a T... even flashed back to stock nougat and tried a 2nd time...
Dear All , this method maybe already here somewhere ,
i have tried to root this specific device and i ran into many issues !
but successfully i have done it .
i'll upload the patched file here and i'll mention what method i have done ! ..
unlock boot loader is a must . ( Please read about it in google , All Samsung devices is the same method )
u might repeat the process to times until it successfully unlocked and greyed-out !
Next download this firmware only to be able to run the patched AP .
un-tick Auto-reboot before flashing .
once flash done , power + Volume down to restart , then volume up with power until u boot into the recovery
wipe data . restart . done
to make sure u have done every thing correctly u'll see RED massage once u boot you're device
Firmware ( This is UAE Firmware " T725XXS1ATC5_T725OJM1ASJ3_XSG " ) All Languages included . Link
Patched AP File Link
Please Note that i'm not responsible if u break your Tablet ! .

Hi
Do I just need to use odin to flash the Firmware you mentioned then use ODIN again to flash the patched ap
I can just add that with this specific fw version and patched ap everything worked on LTE version but I might add my little deviations ...
1st original firmware flash (BL,AP,CP,CSC-non-home one) instantly followed by wipe data in recovery mode.
2nd After the initial setup + wifi connection I installed and updated magisk.
3rd "adb restart bootloader" (here i am not sure if it mattered but anyway) and flush again with the provided Patched AP File (BL,the_patched_AP,CSC - the home one this time ... using CP failed with modem err with me so I just skipped it here)
4th get trough the init setup again with wifi on and open magisk which will install more stuff.
The prerequisites still apply oem unlocked bootloader before you start and keep your battery at least 60-70% since the process drained mine a lot.
You know you are on the right track when you have warning with tablet bootloader is unlocked (at startup yellow) and tablet not running Samsung's official software (red after the first one)
Ive just bought this SM-T725 model android 11. There is no sign of OEM Unlock Bootloader under development. Does anyone know how I can unlock this.

Thanks for reply mate, I got it figured. I also manage to get root and twrp recovery but not both at the same time. After flashing and using twrp recovery I then lose root after reboot and have to flash a patched magisk bundle over odin again. Bit inconvenient but I only intend using twrp now and then for backup/recovery.
Can you recommend a stable rom for this device - far too much google bloat on it for my liking. I tried latest lineage but found it unstable.

Just install LineageOS. Clean, no Bloat, everything smooth and you can have TWRP and Root/Magisk at the same time.
Depending on how much Google you want to have on your device, you might rather choose LOS+MG ( https://lineage.microg.org/) I can highly recommend it. You get rid of Google which debloats it even more and is a plus for your privacy but almost everything works (at leat for me. But migh depend on your needs)
If you like Google, just use normal LineageOS (https://lineageos.org) + GAPPS
Thanks for reply. Will try the LOS ROM later. Wish Google crap would disappear totally. I hate it enormously.
By the way which folder am I looking for on that LOS ROM download page
Ah gts4lv I presume

Recently switched to using MicroG Lineage. Timely enough, MicroG passes the SafetyNet now as per the instructions mentioned below and indicated in the attached screenshot. For the fingerprint, I had selected the T720 from the list.

Along with Aurora store installed as a service, I think you don't need Google anymore.

I'm having some problem here:
I can install LineageOS, I can root/Magisk, I can have TWRP, but not all together at once.
Can you help me on how to do this?
Working on a SM-T725 of course, actually rooted, lineage and TWRP installed, but my Magisk can't install modules, it seems it doens't have root privileges.
Thanks in advance for your answer
anybody have an updated one, the file has been archived on the said link... thanks in advance
My phone had been rooted via Magisk, some system update box kept coming up, but I kept tapping cancel as I didn't think it would work anyway. Yesterday, I'm not sure if it was forced or it tapped something in my pocket, but now it has installed the update, and *boom* I'm on Android 10. Build number V11.0.5.0.QFQEUXM. Root lost, everything else seems to work though. I have a notification from Magisk Manager that says update available! press to download and install.
Should I do that to regain root? Is that the safest way to do that? I have backups, but I'd rather not have to go through that faff. Thanks so much for your help! And this super useful forum! Thanks will be given also :fingers-crossed:

The easiest way to re-root your phone is to follow the steps on this post here. However, there are no .img files for the last versions.
I need the fastboot for 11.0.19 Global

The guide you mentioned in your post also contains a link in which you can extract your own boot image and use that image to patch via Magisk to obtain root.
Here is the link: DUMP stock boot.img

Hi thanks for the link! It looks like I will use the TWRP and Magisk method, as there is less to go wrong. But the links on that post are from 2019, so I'm guessing they are not compatible with A10. I've found this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82372895&postcount=139 to try to find some updated links, but the mirrors cannot be found

I used the steps from the same post for obtaining root on my stock Android 10 V11.0.14.0.QFQMIXM i.e. global version. Now I don't know whether it will work on V11.0.19 Global or not, but it should. I cannot test it now because I'm using EvolutionX Custom ROM now.
