Can anyone with an HTC one tell me about how the battery life is on yours and what helps make it go longer? Because I would call the battery on mine awful.
I would recommend that you install an application from the Play Store called "BetterBatteryStats". This will enable you to closely check what application uses the most battery, how long your phone is in deep sleep for and much more.
Charge the phone fully and after about a day, or until it almost dies, export a text file using the share button and upload it onto here and we can have a look at what is using your battery.
Just out of curiosity, how long does your battery usually last? Mine lasts 2 days on light usage and 1 day on heavy usage.
It's awesome. I'm running arhd with greenify hibernating all my apps. I get like a day and a half of battery time.

I'm seeing a significant burn on mine as well. My device gets to where you could cook on it. Bugguh gets hot!
Does this look typical?
Thank you gents

thats bad...it should not get hot like that...any device lol...even on standby, for a device to get unbearably hot is bad ... do you have a lot of chat apps and background apps running? like apps that require push data services and etc?
Nothing. I run a lean system. I close all apps and I'm using the stock messaging app with the stock keyboard. I've concluded it's just that this phone is a piece of ship board.
With respect...

My guys are getting upwards of 30+ hrs and 3hrs screentime with 4.2.2....usage may vary....
You could put your phone in power saver mode. I haven't bothered with it much, but those who have say that it doesn't impact performance in any noticeable way. I tend to have 1-3 hours of screen on time, depending on the day. I've never had any issue getting that with this phone, at least not yet.
As someone else mentioned, it does get quite warm to the touch, however. Never to the point where it's uncomfortable to hold, but enough so that it bothers me. I think it's just because in the back of my mind I know that, in general, electronics getting hot = bad. Yesterday my One got warm in the car while I was using GPS to navigate with it and the sun was just pounding the interior of my car. So I held my One up to the vent and blasted it with the air conditioner from time to time (i.e. not while driving, so spare me the lecture). Seemed to cool it off pretty well
Perfect rom
I have been using the RayGlobe Rom 6.0 and the battery is more than adequate for me and runs cold. Lots of mods and themes also. Might give it a try.

With stock sense, my battery was pretty bad, to the point where I was pretty worried about having to get a different phone as it wouldn't last a day. But I put CM 10.1 on here last night, and it has been pretty amazing today.
I actually just picked my One up this last week and have been running battery tests with moderate use throughout the day and it can easily last 20+ hours (I didn't have time to let it go for a full 24). Maybe i'll do some heavy use tests and see how it goes.
I too am having battery issues... One day the battery last forever, the next day it drains quickly. I recently installed cpuz to see the max speed of the cpu when power saver mode was on. The max speed I observed was 1134 ghz, however I again checked the cpu speed after I rebooted my phone (with power saver still enabled) and cpuz now was indicating the cpu was running at full speed 1728 ghz. I turned off power saver and then re enable power saver mode and then cpuz showed the cpu to be throttled again at 1134 ghz. It appears (at least on my phone) that power saver mode does not automatically start after a reboot even though the powersaving mode was left on prior to reboot and the the phone shows the power saving symbol as active after reboot. Would someone test this scenario on there phone to verify the problem exist on other phones?
I converted the AT&T HTC One to full Google Edition and my battery life is solid. After 10 hours of usuage (BT on & connected, Wifi on & connected, Exchange email on push, 2h of screen on time, 2h talk time ...) I get to about 20-30% left of battery.
Good enough for what I need compared to my retired GS2
My Rezound is S-off and running New's XxX rom RLS 6.0.3 (ICS 4.0.4). I upgraded to a HTC One a few weeks ago, and I am keeping the Rezound around as a backup device/midget tablet. I have airplane mode on with wifi connected for data. I am noticing some pretty bad battery drain, especially during idle.
Attached are two screen shots. The one from Wake-lock detector shows the breakdown of the kernel wake-lock. The second one shows the battery summary from GSam battery monitor. This particular usage period was a little under 8 hours with 9 minutes of screen time and consumed 23% of the battery. I didn't use the phone in any way except to check a couple Google Voice messages. Obviously the phone is failing to go into deep sleep for some reason, as can be seen from the over 90 minutes of held awake time from GSam. And Wake-lock detector shows the following as the leading culprit:
(held awake time)
kgsl-2d0 (45m 56s)
wlan_rx_wake (35m 53s)
kgsl-2d1 (33 m 40s)
PowerMangerService (19 m 33s)
Any ideas or suggestions? It looks like something in the kernel...

the kgsl-2d0 and 2d1 are graphics which can be caused by a display setting you have...wlan_rx wake is your wifi which is expected for battery drain...what are your settings in developer options

I have the following checked:
USB debugging
Force GPU rendering
Animation - 1x for for both window and transition animation scale
I've had the Forced GPU rendering checked since day one. I'll uncheck it for now and see what happens... Any other suggestions, please feel free to share

i was gonna say that was the cause for me even in a 4.3 rom...i also prefer it on because animations for certain things is smoother with it on just a battery drainer though

Interestingly, with it off, Newt's rom runs noticeably smoother overall (screen to screen, app tray, etc). Amazon store app which was very slow now is actually not too bad. I just did a full recharge - will report back once I have some new battery usage results!
Battery Drain on Optimus G
Hi, I am writing to get xda members' opinion about the alarming battery drain on my Optimus G. The major culprit seems the Android OS with different wakelocks contributing to the problem.
1. suspend_backoff is the biggest actor here, keeping phone awake for up to 40 mins in the 3 hours of wake time, I have tried multiple wifi options from within the settings but no benefits really. My phone now has a static ip at home and most of the time placed in the same room as the router. Being on the same network, there are times that the suspend_backoff does not come in to picture at all.
2. alarm_rtc too is playing its important role in the battery drain, last I checked it was at 32 mins.
3. msm_hsic_host: At 16m, but that's also because I kept the data off most of the time, however the moment I am on data "on", it starts eating up a lot of battery. One of the possible explanations for this may be that I can only access the WCDMA/3g networks while the phones has the 4g radios too.
4. sns_periodic_wakelock too has lot of wake time, the current screenshots may not explain it but there are times when its the topmost contributor to the wakelocks.
Additional Info:
1. Some charge cycles, the phones shows zero deep sleep, last night the phone was charged to 100 at about 8pm, it came down to 40 this morning around 10am, with a period of no use between 2 am - 7 am. there was absolutely zero deep sleep. Is a no deep sleep a cause of concern?
2. Yesterday, I cleared the dalvik cache and rebooted the phone and it only lost 2-4 percent in a 8 hour period, with no suspend_backoff wakelocks and even the overall android os consumption was very less. However, this changed in the new charge cycle.
3. The phone is currently rooted using framaroot and unlocked bootloader using freegee, before the unlock operation of bootloader, I did see a 4hours plus of screen time with about 25% battery still left. Soon after the unlock, I also installed Snapddragon Battery Guru. It is after the 2 events -> Unlock bootloader and Snapdragon Battery Guru that I started seeing a decline in battery use. I have since removed the Snapdragon app (after its 2 day learning period) but without any benefits. The screen time is now around 2 hours plus.
4. I have also put to freeze some of the other usual suspects like facebook, switched off google now and location services. Though this does defeat the purpose of having a smart phone entirely. I have also frozen some of the AT&T bloatware
Questions:
1. Could the unlocked bootloader have any say in the kernel wakelocks?
2. If I do the factory reset from within settings on the phone, am I likely to run in to any errors due to the bootloader being unlocked?
3. What are my other options in preventing the wakelocks from eating too much of battery.
I have attached the screenshots from current observations
Just noticed a crazy amount of wakeup triggers by the phone process
, anyone have an idea about what could be the deal here?

It isn't normal.... Maybe you have bad battery? Because looking at the battery stats, there are no wakelocks or battery draining apps on you phone,.. I think you should check your device at local service center.
P.S. You can always try to factory reset phone and see if that helps.
First of all perform a factory reset, do not download any apps for 1,2 days see if it fixes the problem. IF it does then maybe there was a rouge app draining battery. If the problem persists try the following procedure (at your own risk i am not liable if you mess anything up)
STEP ONE: Check your phone model, also check if it is on any carrier (like o2, three etc)
STEP TWO: Go to sammobile (search it) and under the firmware tab type your phone model. It will display some results
STEP THREE: On the results page there should be a drop down list on the right side of the page that says "Choose country" click it and choose the correct carrier if your phone is on any carrier or you can choose the correct firmware (the one before update) from the results page displayed earlier.
STEP FOUR: Open youtube and search how to use ODIN (Odin is the tool to flash samsungs stock firmwares watch any video from 2014-15).
STEP FIVE: Download ODIN from a reliable source and Flash the downloaded firmware:
Report if the problem has fixed.

the very odd thing is even when the phone is switched off, it's still warm, and then the battery will be drained till 0%.. yeah, i visited the service center yesterday, and they told me they would keep the phone for 3 days for troubleshooting..

i've tried factory reset, but no luck.. then i try reupdating the phone by using samsung smart switch, also no luck..
as for odin, haven't tried it, because i don't want to lose the knox yet..
850A SnapD you have?
Flashing stockfirmwares downloaded from SAMMOBILE with ODIN "DOES NOT TRIGGER KNOX" ...i have done it thousand times on my phones. Give it a try. But do it only if you are 100% sure that you are flashing the correct firmware for your device. (since u dont want to root so i cant suggest backup your current rom + EFS folder because it requires rooting)
in sammobile dont have 850A firware, that is problem

Hey musf,
I was wondering if you managed to fix your problem? I have the exact same issue since this week and it's driving me crazy.
I am running KK 4.4.4 and using a 2500 mAh battery, which used to last easily for 2 days. When not actively used, no more than 3% of battery were drained per hour according to GSam battery monitor. A few days ago I noticed that my battery only recharged to 50% over night (phone was left on) and got really, really hot (more than 55 °C according to GSam). Ever since it drains 20% - 40% per hour. Even with the screen off and flight mode activated the 100% full battery is empty within 3 hours!!! The temperature does not drop below 35°C when put on a table without case, which tells me that it is constantly working in the background. This would also explain the bad recharging while becoming very hot at the same time. The strange thing is that the main draining processes under battery are "system on standby (27%)", "android system (26%)" and "screen (12%)", which absolutely makes no sense. At the same time, deep sleep info reports 93% deep sleep percentage, also weird.
Things I tried so far, which did NOT help:
- Use the original 1860 mAh battery
- Factory reset with no apps installed except pre-installed ones
- Factory reset via Kies (re-initialization)
- Recalibrate the battery (drain completely; reload fully with phone turned off; over-charge)
- Deactivate google play services and play store
I would be thankful for ANY suggestions!
edit: Since the battery is drained and becomes hot even with the phone turned off, but not when stored outside the phone, I guess my phone has a short circuit somewhere, so I'll have to take it to the store...
Just turn off wifi and set screen britness to aouto
Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I'm no gamer, but I didn't faced any heating issues so far.
Maybe I can't speak about heat as I used to use a galaxy S4 exynos (it's a portable cooker in case you don't know, easily reaching 96°c when just browsing on battery), this never heated, the temperature is about 45°c and it never felt uncomfortable hot, actually it never felt hot even in high external temperatures, I don't game on my phone, also I don't do highly demanding tasks, but I guess this phone can stand very well against whatever demanding task you want..
Ya very less heating in rn4
This phone is cool as... Hm, how to explain this.
Imagine hell.
Now imagine it has frozen.
That's the heat level of RN4. Snapdragon 625 does it job.
My phones been fine, up until this last few weeks...
Where I can't hold a charge for more than half a day... And even running phone a USB socket on the computer, the phone still discharges faster than it can charge. Battery getting hot too... I've tried looking to a culprit app that might be churning the cpu. But even process Explorer isn't showing high cpu use from any given app.
The battery app which shows what apps drain most doesn't seem to show it either.
Really worried and nearly giving up. Might do my first factory reset in the 2 years I had this phone. Maybe time to root it and install another rom, Any suggestions?

Just trying to comfort you - you are not alone!
First, it's my secondary phone and I use it only when I travel. So not sure since when that happens. Maybe since a week or so.
Now I can lose like 30% in one hour, and the phone gets really hot. I used the last 2 days. Example, this morning it had 100% after overnight charging. I went for breakfast and lost 30% in one hour (rarely use the phone when I was out).
Then I charge a little in the car, phone went went from 58% to 64%. Then for no reason battery life was normal again and by the end of today I had about 20% - and then suddenly withing 20 Minutes it went dark.
I have the phone for about 2 years, this problem is very new.
What I try right now after reading stuff on the internet, so it must be true:
Remove all updates to Google Duo (this app can't be removed) and disable the Auto-Update for it in the PlayStore. Lets see..... (it's an app I never used, had to lookup what it actually is). Did that 15 Minutes ago and phone is already much cooler.
Ok uninstalled updates to duo and blocked auto update in playstore... ill see if that helps... Thanks for the tip
I must admit though, this had made me consider getting a new phone... but I dont really want to the phones good (when its working right) does all i need i to do.... Sure newer phones are a tad flashier but not enough to make me jump to get a new one.
Wow, That appears to have worked..... I mean its not really long enough yet to tell but it does appear to have stopped the fast draining and heat... At least for the first few hours....
Thanks
So if it really is duo causing this battery drain, why do no battery analysers seem to show that?
And is it doing it to all smart phone with duo and I guess it's latest patch installed?
Has duo been spying on us? Has it been running the camera and watching us while we sat on the loo, which I'm soooooo currently not doing..........
Thanks! The recent heat issue after an update had me thinking i need a new phone. I really like this phone, its lasted me by far the longest, and best run times of all I have ever had. I was worried about fire, did a full factory reset with no installed apps, but heat was still there. I removed updates to Google Duo, and stopped any future updates as listed above, and its running cool and clean again.
Once again thanks for this post!
Yep can confirm now after a few days... no heat no fast draining... Google Duo was the culprit... is it a but that just affected mediatek cpus? Or do all android phones suffer this bug? is anyones heads rolling at google for this farce?
ITs fine and good...... no options.
While charging and playing games or using heavy data apps.... it wont get heated like expected when connected to electricity.
When on power banks it works otherwise , gets charged and increase in temperature.
One of the best thermal performance I have seen on a smartphone, thanks to the Snapdragon 625 chipset powering the phone. It had no competition back when it was launched.
Using this phone for gaming almost baked my hand
