Been searching for an answer for a few weeks now.. this phone is great other then the fact boost mobile has loaded it with tons of bloat. If anyone knows of a way to root this phone or to install custom recovery to solve the issues please shine some light, thank you in advance.:fingers-crossed::good:

I'm currently working on a universal root method for the Boost/Virgin Mobile variants of the LG K3. I managed to gain superuser access on the Virgin Mobile variant running build no. LS450ZV4. Unfortunately this method has not proven successful on either the Boost Mobile variants or on the Virgin Mobile variants running build no. LS450ZV5. Should I find a universal method -- hopefully in the next few days -- I will post a tutorial in a new thread for the K3.

I've been watching to see if someone found root. I've had this device since the beginning of September. I have no development skills, but a root method would be greatly appreciated. Good luck, and thanks!

There are three of us trying a script for the Dirty Cow exploit on the K3. The dilemma thus far has been the paradox of gaining systemless root on a device with a locked bootloader.

There is no root method for the Virgin Mobile variant that I know of. If you are fortunate enough to have obtained a Virgin Mobile K3 with the initial release build of 6.0.1, then you may get full root access by using the latest PC version of iRoot, a one click root utility.

Hey I have a LG K3 (Kricket Wireless) Any Thing for that?
I'm not familiar with the GSM variants of the LG K3.
GSM, CDMA, same smell as far as obtaining root access. Same pinciples and techniques all around. FS structure may vary, I don't know for certain as I have only worked with the Sprint CDMA variety.
I have been working on a Root method for this device for a few months now. Currently I only have two workable theories due to the sboot and firmware almost globally updated to 6.0.1 as the stock ROM and persistance out of the box. I will post what I've got as soon as I achieve stable and permanent root access. I've scoured the internet and I think it will be the first, correct me if I'm wrong. If achieved this Lil LG will actually be worth a damn. Ha.

Just wondering how to root this galaxy s3 from tracfone (run on android 4.1.2) from the specification its look like the s3 from sprint.
and how to get the msl / spc code for this phone (have been ask the tracfone cs so many time but they didnt give me)
if you can provide me the modem/radio i can help
Ditto
I have the same exact phone and am wondering this myself. The details that I have on hand are:
Qualcomm 4g
Model: SCH-960L(GP)
Android Version 4.1.2
Baseband Version: S960LWYAMD6
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-1151419
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 19 13:43:50 KST 2013
Build Number: JZO54K.S960LWYAMD6
Hardware Version S960L.01
One thing about this particular model is that it is CDMA/LTE with the option to choose CDMA only. It also doesn't appear to have a place for a sim card (which is utterly ridiculous from a company that was enticing people to BYOP... LOL, especially knowing the huge markup on their phones.)
Forgive my noobishness, I'm very noob to this. I've rooted one particular model phone previously (Galaxy Proclaim | StraightTalk) for like 3 different people, and now am looking to root this particular model as well. I am willing to obtain any information you need, I just need someone to guide me through it. I won't be on StraightTalk for but a few more months anyways and I'll be switching over to sprint.

I also thought I'd add that I've tried multiple variations of processes trying to get the MSL from this phone.
I've tried through Android Terminal, using the APP sniffer: AlogCat, and tried dialing ##data# entering 000000 and then opening GetMyMSL a 2nd time after dialing and entering the incorrect password and got the same error message I received when I opened GetMyMSL the first time prior to dialing ##data#.
Of course I do know that most people want the MSL to unlock their phone, and I'm not sure how worth it, it would actually be to unlock a CDMA phone that doesn't have SIM card ability... I just had an S3 on Verizon that was unlocked with Sim Card ability that was briefly in my possession and it had GSM and CDMA support, but this model doesn't appear to have GSM unless it's locked up somewhere (but then why no Sim??)
Anyways just food for thought. I'm only really interested in Rooting so I can use CWM and Rom Toolbox to get JellyBeans on this phone.
Solution found
Found a method that worked for this model.
androidrootz dot com /2013/05/ how-to-root-galaxy-s3-on-mac.html
I can't post links because I'm a forum noob so you'll have to put the link together on your own.
You download the script, then use sudo inside of Terminal either on Mac or Linux. Change the permissions by using CHMOD, and then execute the script. I can confirm that this in fact rooted my device which is the very model that I posted information about.
---------- Post added at 01:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:59 AM ----------
So now for my next question regarding this model. Now that it's rooted. What Roms can I safely use?
I know that the phone is TracFone owned and Operated under the guise of StraightTalk.
But I also know that this phone runs on Sprint Towers using CDMA/LTE
So will this phone safely use Sprint Roms from Clockwork? Or will it mess up the APN settings?
I mean it uses the Sprint towers anyways right? I'm too chicken to do it... lol
provide me with teh radio and i can get a way to find the spc.

Anyone have a custom recovery for this model?
Hey, everyone,
I am new to LG android devices with my G3, and everything I found regarding rooting my new phone says that ioroot, stumproot, and even towel root should work, but none of them have. in ioroot, I ran the batch file and nothing happened. my device did not go into recovery like it was supposed to. Stump just said "sorry, your device is patched", and Towel root, which I had used on my GS5 flawlessly said that my G3 was not supported. I reeeeaaaly want to get mine and my wifes G3s rooted, but nothing is working. Please help!
I'm sure the issue is that I'm on 12b, but how do I roll back the sw version so I can use stump?

How much reading around the forums have you done? I ask only because it sounds like you may be on one of the more recent software versions, and you should be careful about attempting to flash anything unless you've double and triple read all the available information out there. Doing anything less is asking for issues, and with two phone you don't want eat that $1,200 if you screw it up haha The first thing to find out is what software version you are currently on? It would be either 10B, 11C, or 12B.

Search the forums first before you post - you'll find there's a very clear rollback thread based on the kdz method. Follow that to the T and you'll be golden.
Detailed response provided in your other thread.

I haven't done much research in the forums, I admit that. What I've researched were the different root methods, and sadly, none of them mention that they won't work on 12b. I obviously have to find that other thread you spoke of.

Hello everyone,
Does anyone know of a root for the AT&T Alpha? I saw CF-auto-root has one for the unlocked version (SM-G850F), however, I know that is an entirely different phone, so I'm not even going to attempt it. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you!

I think we will be waiting forever....the phone has been out for over 4 months and there is no sign of root for the At&t varient. I don't think there is enough following to make this a priority for any developers. I don't blame them.
I love the phone, I would love it more with root.....
EDIT - from what I have read, don't be fooled by the SRSRoot that claims it can root the At&t Alpha....it doesn't work.

Has anyone heard any news about any root for the SAMSUNG-SM-G850A?
Is anyone brave enough to try this
https://chimeratool.com/supportedmodels
I could be wrong but I think that it should be safe to try. Either the root works, or it doesn't and leaves your phone untouched. Only thing I'd worry about is the chance of any viruses the program can come with.
EDIT: Just tried it, it failed.
Thanks for trying. The looking continues.

Do the Chainfire roots for sltechn or sltecan not work for the AT&T version?
Once you do get root though, you'll be in the same boat as me... with no custom roms available out there because nobody is developing for this device.
I'm working on getting a recovery working.. but that's just step 1.

Does not work !!
So, I've been having one hard time figuring this out. It seems to be hard to find, or I'm not looking for the right things, so I come seeking your help.
I have a Galaxy S4 (obviously, lol), here's all about it:
Model Number: SCH-I545
Android Version: 5.0.1
Baseband Version: i545VRUGOF1
Build Number: LRX22C.I545VRUGOF1
Can someone tell me if I can root it or not? Towelroot and Kingroot do not work for it. I'm guessing that's because the software is still too new. So, might it just be that there is no root for it yet?
If so, is there anyway I can get rid of the bloatware (it's so frustrating!)?
Thank you in advance!
If on stock OF1, no there is no root for it, and no downgrade options either, as bootloader was updated and locked anything below OF1

There is no root for OF1 so the bootloader is locked on OF1, if that's what you're asking.
supposedly this thing SRS ROOT can do it but it can't root mines. Though, the computer reads out that it does.
I used the kingroot no pc apk download. [
It worked fine for me
Yep, use kingroot.
I found that last night that KINGO ROOT is working on sch-i545 build VRUGOF1.
Link for future reference. The old method is better imo. Root is possible with kingroot but didn't work when i swithed to supersu
You have to use kingroot to grant a terminal su permission, then uninstall kingroot, and lastly install SuperSU via the terminal. Google it for a more in-depth walkthrough. I did it in 5 minutes sitting in my car. SuperSU is better, and it plays nice with more apps. Good luck! Message me if you need a link.

if you just bought the phone and you was like *oh yeah, now I can customize the **** out of him* that must be a big disappoint like me you can't do **** with the device :d until the deves unlock it but if that even will happend .... just hopes
My sister in law just jumped from an iPhone to a Verizon Galaxy S4 (i545VRUGOF1) on Android 5.0.1
I'm currently with Tmobile on an S6 (rooted etc.) and have been since the S3 so I am accustomed to rooting etc. However, the root procedure for the Tmobile variant is obviously different.
Anyways, she wants me to root hers and so far as I can tell Kingroot is said to work and I can then remove it and replace with SuperSU.
My question though is what recovery works with this variant? I'm a TWRP guy myself but it doesn't sound like flashing TWRP via Odin will work with this Verizon S4.
Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks and rock on...

I read a few posts that alluded to it being possible to flash the Kitkat firmware via Odin. Yay or nay?
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA-Developers mobile app
Oh dear. I recall being able to reflash the bootloader etc on a g3 using Odin...to roll it back...but that was over a year ago. About the s4...probably not. Worst case, you brick it. Otherwise it just won't boot. In other words, I would be really surprised. I'll think about it and let you know if I remember anything. The best way to confirm or negate would be to Google it.
The only reason they were rolling back to KitKat was to root it early in the lollipop stages, I think. The bootloader was already and permanently upgraded. -I think. I'm tied and groggy right now...
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Yeah I was Google it but couldn't find anything concrete. It would seem to work and I doubt a hard brick would ensue. A soft brick could be recovered using Kies or smartswitch though in most cases. Thanks

Please post any tools or links to programs that will help and i will credit you when i finally post the twrp file.
You will be hard pressed to find anyone working for that device. Dens don't work on knock off devices. If you have an unlocked bootloader then grab the kernel source and make one.

You will be hard pressed to find anyone working for that device. Dens don't work on knock off devices. If you have an unlocked bootloader then grab the kernel source and make one.

What is a knocked off device? What's that mean exactly?

These are being used on Sprint now. And they are being given free with a two-year line. There's going to be a lot of them out there

No what I mean is that it is a copy of another device. It is just a rebranded Chinese based device. That is what I mean.
Boost is known for using rebranded knock off devices. Most of the time they don't even use any for of official software. It's normal some unknown, unheard of Android version.

I have an engineering bootloader for the j327p. Does anyone have a build of twrp that I can try out since it can't brick my device.

I am trying to find a way to gain root with this bootloader so if anyone has any suggestions besides a recovery please let me know.

I don't know any more. I'm from note 4. I was researching this device for my nephew. And came across your thread and also that link. I know I used idone to unlock my phone.
We already have twrp and root

And it's not really an engineering bootloader, it's combination firmware that gives you insecure adb to remove frp lock from frp locked devices.
There is no reason I can see for needing root without twrp. But if u must just reflash the stock recovery after your flashed root
