You can use the proximity sensor? Thought they used electromagnetic's to work out if something was close or not. How could that be used for auto brightness??

SGA dont have brightness sensor and proximity sensor work on 1 mm of distance and this work only signal digital, 1 or 0. For brightness control do you need one analog signal, maybe any app use the cam to capture the brightness, but this is an assuption.

Display Brightens and Dims on HDR content.

I'm having this issue, I thought it was a problem with the auto brightness,so I turned it off, no luck, I think it's an issue with the light sensor since whenever I out my hand in it while playing hdr content it stars brightening and dimming the display in a kinda flickering way, it's unwatchable.
Anyone else can reproduce?

I know since the early Days of Magisk that it can affect the Performance of a OS, but that seems to be something new. Is the Device getting Hot or are there any lags before it starts acting like that?

No lags or heating problem.
The thing is That when You are watching Hdr on youtube
And your hand is in front of the sensor for brightnes control the backlight is going to the max. Also responding on the backlight of the display it self.

HDR (Over 720p) is pretty ressource hungry and needs much Perfromance, that's why i asked. But that sounds more like a Sensor Config Problem. Is this happening on Stock and/or AOSP?
And it just happens with Magisk installed?

On stock, at aosp Hdr is not working.
It looks like the sensor is working the wrong Way. You make the sensor darker andere the screen is getting brightner.
I have a Stock Xperia XZ1 no roms, no modifications at all,
Youtube HDR with the youtube video for testing HDR nature or something, the problem is that whenever the brightness is low, and i play an HDR video, the screen starts dimming, brightening if I touch the sensor.
But the light sensor works fine.
No one else?
Bump?

In-screen Finger Print reader Solution in Custom Roms

Hi everyone, i found the solution for the bad reading in the fingerprint reader in roms (at least works for me in Evolution 4.0 but should it work on any rom) the reason of the problem was that the finger print is optic and reads with light shined from the screen, but many roms shine light with the level of brightness of the system , meaning, brightness low= bad reading, brightness max = good reader.
The solution was installing Kernel iMMENSITY v13.0-MI9-FOD-25-01-20 but i imagine all versions with the name FOD should it work.
If any more can confirm this kind of solution please let us now.
Thanks to the developer of this kernel.

Using Pixel Experience
not working
Register my fingerprint with lowest brightness.
Then I found when using low brightness < 36 , It's working!
Then register with highest brightness, not working .... seems the fingerprint reader with high brightness not working.

Question Proximity and light sensor problem

I just noticed that i have an error in proximity during call and auto brightness. How do i fix it?
can somebody confirmed if theirs are working on one ui 4.1?
I'm using UI 4.0 haven't noticed anything like that. It uses ambient light sensor as it lacks proximity.
Check if hardware is working fine using CPU Z see tsl sensor lux value.
