app replacement for LED - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so, i'm struggling without a notification LED. my phone is usually silent for work, on my desk. I don't notice unread notifications on the second screen unless i'm looking right at it. Is there an app that will periodically wake the screen if there are unread notifications? so far i've tried dynamic notifications/ac display, and either would be perfect if there was a way to re-notify of missed notifications!

So close.. I need an app to wake the screen because the phone is on silent.

Hi,
I think this is what you're looking for: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.led.notify
The app enables the Screen and shows a small notification dot moving about a black screen. The color of the box can be changed per app. Ypu can also switch between a colored box and the app Icon. You can also configure noLED to be only active when the phone is set to silent/vibration mode.
Don't Forget to activate NoLED in the settings of the app.

check this out! i think it's exactly what i wanted.

[Q] Turn Off LED

Is there a way to not have the led indicator on the side flash when emails arrive? I keep my tablet in a cradle on my nightstand and the flashing light wakes me up in the middle of the night if an email comes in. I've tried everything I can think of.
Thanks,
Roger
Turn off wifi?
Light Flow app on the Market.
Light Flow worked great. Thanks
Roger
If memory serves me correctly there is a setting somewhere which was something like
"Turn off notifications until......"
Not with the tablet at the moment but I'll double check later.

Yes there is such option during email account set up but I can't find it after set up.
I have a question regarding the LED, too:
Is it a multicolor LED, so can I change the color using Lightflow for notifications (calender, email...)?
Thanks

It seems that the Turn off notification only appears during account set up. So you can delete the account and turn off the notification during account re-set up.

To clarify, yes, it is multicolour but not all the colours in Light Flow line up exactly with what colour the Sony displays. Red colours particularly seem to be displayed much lighter than usual on the Tablet.
Thanks for clarifying this!

Getting Light Flow to Work

After much trial and error. I finally got Light Flow working on my S3. Here's what I did to get it to work :
Go to Setting > Led Notifications, and Only check Missed Events. Leave the others unchecked.
Make sure you disable all LED notifications in the rest of your apps (WhatsApp, GoSMS, etc); you'll need to let Light Flow handle these notifications. In some circumstances you may need to disable the 'screen on, on notification event' option in these apps to get the Light Flow to work.
In Light Flow, if you want to test the color of your notification, in 'Clear Notification Style' select 'App Entered', then scroll down to 'Test Notification', wait for the Pop-up and press the power button (to turn off your screen). Sometimes you might need to wait about 30 secs for the light to appear. This is just to test the color of your notification, Light Flow will still work with the rest of the Clear Notification Styles.
I'm on root, so the above works for me. It might work for non-rooted phones though.
Also, you may notice that not all colors are supported by the S3. Typically, the distinct colors I got are :
Cyan
Blue
White
Green
Indigo
Lime
Yellow
Orange
I tried the custom colors, but the S3 LED seemed to provide some mesh-ed up mix of colors.
I can't find what you mean by " Setting > Led Notifications".
Is that in the system settings, light flow settings, or individual app settings within light flow?
Mine just worked out of box... No fuss.

You should not have to disable notifications in the apps for lightflow to work.
Because Lightflow registers itself as an accessibility tool, it should override any other notifications.
wow.....
all you need to do, OUT OF THE BOX.
Settings, Accessibilty, ------and heres the kicker...Turn on Light Flow, lol
Not to mention light flow keeps asking you to do this all the time!

It didn't work for me out of the box. Notifications come on but don't turn off, and sometimes come on at random.

I couldn't get it to work on my sgs3 either. Just gave me the green light. The developer website says they're working on getting the US version of the s3 working but it sounds like it has issues with wake locks as well.
anyone else found a similar app that works on the sgs3? I really miss being able to designate any color I want for diferent email, text, missed calls, etc.
Ive never got light flow working properly.
Usually it prevents all notifications working for me but then gives me none of its own. The test is only ever green.
I set all my notifications blue as I only want it for sleep. Last install (this week) it actually worked. It went to sleep too. YAY!
but alas it was not to be. No more notifications the next day.
I only want to put my LED to sleep when I go to sleep. Why is this such a big ask?
It works well for me - but i SOMETIMES get the stock blue flashing light and can't figure out why.

[Q] Does P780 have a bright notification LED?

Has anyone got a picture or video of the P780 notification LED? What colour does the light flash and is it big and bright like a Samsung Galaxy Note II or small and tiny like a Huawei Ascend P6?
Looked on YouTube and lots of reviews but nobody showing the notification light.
Also, does anyone have a link to the full user manual? Can only find the basic one on the Lenovo website.

Thanks Soralz. Which ROM are you using? Don't know why Lenovo disable WhatsApp and Email LED notification
Maybe notification LED is fixed in S123 ROM or future KitKat 4.4 upgrade.
I will test this and let you know, I don't make use of the led very much. Will test FB and Gmail, I'm on SLX rom, it has many tweaks also GravityBox maybe it works there dunno.
is the notification led really very dim? is there any 3rd party app that can control it?

The LED is not so dim but it is inside the earpiece so angles are not as good as a BlackBerry or Galaxy Note 2 which you can see from across the room. However, the P780 LED is bigger than the one in the HTC One which has a tiny LED like a speck of dust which is pretty much useless.
Because the LED is inside the earpiece, you can put a case on and still see notifications which is good. I think the LED is fine for brightness but the big problem is that it only lights up for missed calls and sms and charging. It doesn't light for emails or facebook or whatsapp and I haven't found any app that can even lit up the LED let alone control it.
There are some custom ROMs that can control the LED using Light Flow such as http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/aosp-rom-lenovo-p780-t2722977 and http://www.needrom.com/mobile/lenovo-p780-6/.
I will try Light Flow again tonight using the settings in those ROM, the LED must be controllable somehow, it's stupid having LED with no email or facebook or whatsapp notification
yes, email notification is a must for the led,
also notice it doesn't blink, just light up, what a waste

Don't mind if it doesn't blink, as long as it comes on, thats fine.
Ok, I downloaded Lightflow Lite from the Play Store to test and this works if you use the HTC direct mode in Lightflow settings. This makes the LED blink in test mode BUT if you switch the screen off, it stops flashing. I think there is a power setting somewhere to keep Lightflow active when the screen is locked but the app doesn't show in the Lenovo power app whitelist.
Also, with HTC direct mode, there is no choice of colours for the LED, you are limited to just green which is fine by me but definitely need to have the LED lighting up when the screen is off. Will continue playing around with it to see if I can get it working.
Just updated to stock 124 and the LED still doesn't work
Why don't Lenovo fix this simple thing? Samsung, LG, HTC, everyone lese has the LED lighting up on all events and Lenovo have to ruin a great phone by buggy implementation
Have been messing around the Lightflow and can confirm that Gmail works if you have root and HTC Direct mode enabled. Doesn't work at all with standard Lenovo Email app though.

The light is not bright like a Blackberry and has no viewing angles but it's not at all bad, the good thing is that it is in the earpiece so you can still see it even with a cover on. I prefer a proper LED to something like NoLed which will switch on the whole screen to make a notification and drain the battery.

Huawei Ascend G630 does not LED notify light WhatsApp messages

Hello
Ive seen a Huawei Ascend G630 that a friend has and he told me that the notification light when receiving WhatsApp messages does not work. The light is green by WhatsApp configuration.
How can I test the notification light is working correctly? When charging, it does light up.

I have Huawei Acend G630,and I have issue with LED indicator, its only on when charging or when the battery is low..its off for notification,I tried many apps to test it and its not blinking.
My friend have a same phone (just white edition, mine is black) and his LED indicator is blinking on notification.
HELP me,what to do,I had a BlackBerry, and i get used to led indicator,i want it to work on my g630
I'm not sure if this is the same as your problem, but my old phone only had blue and red LEDs, so setting the light color to green would result in nothing. If changing the color doesn't fix it, then I don't really know what the issue is, but you could try using an app such as Light Manager to test out the light.
Tried
Tried with that app and no light works when testing..... maybe a update???

Try to make a new google account, its possible that notifications are turned off on google settings from your smartphone that you had before G630.
First what I've did is creating new google acc and installed NLWidget and LED its work!

OK, on usual devices, just drag your application to the app info icon and when it opens, on the top left corner just below the app name you can toggle on/off notifications. Please let me know if this works.

Well making a new Google Account for this doesn't make sense. Also, the person before had the same Google Account on another phone and the notifications were lit up perfectly on the person's previous phone. Anyways, I DOUBT this has ANYTHING to do with, for example, WhatsApp, notifications.

It sounds odd because by defect it IS activated so why would it be deactivated? Also, with the widget and the light manager app it does not light up either.
There was to be some strange software bug in MIUI playing up here.

The glitch is a side effect of restoring from your Google account to the phone, which is part of the setup process for the phone. The feature downloads apps and settings from the cloud, which is usually a good thing. But in some instances it can tell the phone to restore the notification LED setting from another phone, leaving the light disabled with no way to re-enable it.
Fortunately there's a simple fix for this issue, and it's one that apparently applies to Motorola and some other phones too...
Motorola has released a widget that lets you toggle the notification light on and off, so if you're affected by this bug simply download it, place it on a home screen and toggle it on. After that you can remove the widget and your notification light will continue to work.
I dont know why but this bug comes with old google acc.
My LED was dead(it was on only on charging and batery low,not for notification),and I did factory reset, create new google acc. installed Notification light widget, and LED started to work, then I installed a Light manager for editing colours for notification.
Strange but black G630 have this bug, white G630 LED works perfectly.

Creating a new Google Account is a overkill and completely out of the question. At most, in the Google account, there has to be a setting to receive notifications. But even then, notifications are received perfectly; It just the light that doesn't turn on!

[App] Edge Lighting fix for all Apps with screen off (ACTUAL Edge Lighting)

Get actual Samsung Edge Lighting Notifications with any app while your screen is off!
Since we all know Samsung only did half the job with this feature, this app will enable you to trigger Edge Lighting (the real one !) when your screen is off. It works with any app by reading the app notification creating a new temporary notification that triggers edge lighting (you won't notice it in your notification list).
You can set custom color filters for your apps, based on their names.
Real Samsung Edge Lighting
Extremely minimal battery drain
No fake AOD Screen
Works with ANY app (including Messenger!)
Initial setup is a bit tedious, but that's mostly Samsung's fault.
Any suggestion to improve the app is -of course- welcome!

Well I use my app for Edge Lighting (around the edges, not the notch) to see when a notification comes, and Holey Light to remind me of unread notifications.

On my S10e it is working.
But I probably do not fully understand philosophy of the edge light at all or something, because for what is this good for when it only do the effect one time, which takes only few seconds and thats all.
How will this help me to alert to SMS for example when I get back near the phone and look at it?. Or it is not ment as substitute for notification LED?

No it's not meant as a substitute for notification LED. First release was actually on phones that had a notification LED. It's just a pretty way to display notifications. And if your screen is off, it will prevent it from turning on.

Edge Lighting just makes the notification more noticable if the phone is in view, that has always been its only purpose. It allows you to see, by color, what the notification is. It is not and never was meant to a substitute for the notification. Now, if you use Holey Light and Edge Lighting you can have both...
Can't wait to try this. Curious though, how did you learn to make Android apps in a day then upload it to the play store that quick. I started learning a while ago for games and still not the best at it and uploading to the play store normally take max of 24 hours to get on to the store lol.
The app is working great, however, these would be my suggestions for a slight improvement:
1: Add a search function, as the list can be quite long.
2: After you switch on an app, move it to the top of the list, so that when you enter the app all of the ones marked "on" would be at the top.
I can't think of anything else as it is working just fine.
What happens when multiple notifications come in? Will it cycle through them?
Yes
Just tried it but I am sticking with just Holey Light. It would be nice to have this maybe cycle back on for a set amount of time so you could use it as a notification light.
