Ok, so i both tried to unlock it thru adb and with the mi unlock tool. The problem is that adb doesn't find the device, tho i installed the drivers and even so i can't see anything related to xiaomi driver or qualcomm driver in device manager, only kedacom usb device, and mi unlock tool says Can't verify phone ; not connected to Mi Phone ( i went to mi cloud and logged into the account but it was in vain ). I really need help cuz i don't have any ideas left to recover at least the data on the phone. I also tried using another pc and it didn't work either...
And the thing is that i can hear the plug in sound when i plug in the usb to the pc and phone but, as i said, nothing shows up in device driver neither in adb devices command.
I also tried with my flash tool and it doesn't detect anything, my god, the phone is dead right now -.-
Did you turn on usb debugging?

You must use developer rom to unlock bootloader
Hi, I'm having same headache... Have the Kate phone, installed Miflash, mipcuite, adb fastboot drivers.
adb devices returns a blank.
Other phones (sony, s5, note 4) show up no problem. In device manager (win 7 x64), shows up as Android ADB Interface.
(usb debugging is enabled).
with hardware id USB\VID_2717&PID_FF48&REV_0310&MI_01
In fastboot mode, shows up as Android Bootloader Interface and returns device id ok with fastboot devices.
Miflash detects it too.
should device manager also show Xiaomi Composite MDB Interface ?
After turning on USB debugging and connecting to the PC, did you authorize that PC at the pop-up dialog on the phone that shows up ?
EDIT: I mean that ( and should check "Always allow from this computer"):

try logging in on miunlock tool and micloud with mobile no (as username)only. If it fails try tommorow. repetition can do no good.
I unlocked on stable rom 3 days ago on my first attempt of the day.
my last attempt was weeks ago (primarily because i thought it was a lost cause)

I tried that yesterday, waited til today, still no luck.
I did a clean wipe, flashbooting the rom over my data to see if it works (and to see if the battery drain issue with the latest update could be fixed) but no luck there either.

Did you unlock the bootloader on stable? If that works I'll give it a try again.
Any idea which version of stayble you unlocked the bootloader on? Are you on Miu 7 or 8?

Global beta 6.10.13, OEM unlocking enabled. Still no luck. It keeps saying Could not Verify MiPhone at 50%

So tried downloading the 6.0 ota. after it installed it, it got stuck in a bootloop. tried doing factor reset and deleting cache and data.
nothing has worked so far.
heres the rub, i never unlocked my bootloader and i cant get into the OS to set the developer options. it seems my only solution is to RMA it. but im hoping maybe there is a hack of some sort.
heres to hoping.
My N9 wouldnt allow me to even attempt to flash anything when it was locked. One of the first things I had to do was a fastboot oem unlock (which also required me to boot into the OS to toggle that developer option). When you flashed 6.0 did you use the "flash-all" script?

No it was an OTA update. got the notification this morning and had it install the update. it obviously didnt take. i have not rooted my tablet or done anything like that. its actually the first device ive ever not rooted....
I had the exact same problem. I installed the OTA last night, and now it sits at the boot animation for hours. I tried to wipe cache, but I got an error saying it couldn't mount the partition. I tried to sideload it, and it failed, saying it couldn't mount it. I just (reluctantly) performed a wipe and hopefully that will work, but I'm not optimistic.
Update: no luck. So I permanently deleted a lot of stuff for no reason. =/
Yeah my problem is I can't sideload because my computer doesn't recognize it . I mean this whole unlocking the boot loader from within the OS thing is the stupidest design I've ever seen.....
since i can still get into hboot and fastboot can i side load the OTA? adb isnt seeing it in recovery but it sees it in fastboot.
I was not able to sideload anything. I could see the device, I could start the process, but it would fail every time. I talked to HTC last night and they are going to replace it.
Weirdly, when I was talking with them, they had me try to clear the cache and it actually worked, so I'm going to try and sideload it one more time tonight and if it doesn't work, just swap it out.
I'm caught in the boot loop as well after having downloaded the OTA... I must say, over the past couple weeks I was stuck in boot loops on several occasions, and only after a bunch of restarts would it load fully (and "update apps").
When this device works properly, I have no qualms. But it's incredibly irritating for a $600 tablet to be so shoddy...

Yeah I was able to clear the cache I was even able to format the user data the problem is is there is no OS loaded. At least with the fastboot says under os it says N/A.
HTC said they'll replace it I just have to send it in to them problem is I'm a truck driver so I'm never at home.

I had the same problem: even after wiping the cache and formatting the user data, the tablet wouldn't boot, and fastboot said "OS: N/A". However, I went into recovery and sideloaded the OTA file with adb. The update went fine and now my Nexus 9 works again. If you are using Windows and the computer doesn't recognize the tablet you should install the appropriate drivers, I guess (look up "Google USB Driver"). I use a Mac so drivers weren't a problem for me.

Will I'll be a mother effer I was able to get it to recognize my device by installing the Samsung ADB driver and from there I was able to sideload the OTA and it is now working.......
The very first thing I'm doing as soon as I actually get it start it is I am going to enable OEM unlock. Everybody who has one of these devices should do that immediately.
Thank you so much man you are awesome

I tried again and it failed. Sadness. Guess I'll just have to swap it out.
I can't figure out how have my device appear when entering "adb devices" ... when i'm in fastboot, i "fastboot devices" and it shows with the serial number. when i'm in recovery, though, "adb devices" shows nada. When I'm in TWRP after selecting "ADB Sideload", my device appears in my Device Manager under Nexus 9, but I can't update driver info to anything that seems to work.
I've got the most up to date drivers via SDK.
Any ideas how I can get my device to be recognized by my PC so that I can sideload the OS?
Thank you all.

I was having the same problem I installed the Samsung ADB driver, , and all of a sudden my computer recognized my Nexus 9 in a adb mode
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
Mine wouldn't show up until I was in recovery and actually picked the "install from adb" or whatever from the menu.
yeah it doesn't actually go into adb mode until you select the sideload option. just as it doesn't go into fastboot untill you are in fastboot.
I was able to download the OTA from android authority. just made sure that the upgrade matched the one that i was upgrading from, i have a galaxy note so when i couldnt get windows to recognize the nexus 9 in adb mode i selected search my computer for the drivers and selected select from installed drivers and out of sheer desperation selected the Samsung ADB driver and sure enough the worked. from there i was able to adb sideload the update and install it and it rebooted into beatiful android 6.0 tablet has been working fine so far with no issues.
First thing i did however was allow unlocking of the bootloader in the developer options.
Edit: nvm

When I just got my redmi note3 pro without data, I changed to global dev rom and officially unlocked the bootloader. Used mi flash to flash a cn dev rom @ that time I haven't found flasher toolkit also without knowledge on adb. So I get root by going to setting > root permission, used flashify to flash alka twrp. Then used alka twrp to the same rom and superSU.zip. wiped dalvik cache and cache , rebooted phone, done. With this twrp I flashed global dev rom, superSU and exposed v86 by sokarwarez in one flashed and enjoyed it till now.

@ timberwolf60 thanks for your method . but I discoverd something . When I shut down my phone and press power + volume up I get to this screen with the ( Phone and the usb cable ) when I plug it to the computer It's seems to be detected by windows and also detected by adb . I already did root my device with this method and it rooted successfully " http://en.miui.com/thread-278268-1-1.html " .
Is safe to flash twrp in this state ?
one more question : can you access phone storage with PC in TWRP recovery screen ? . thanks a lot man .

Same here, looking for root!
Coolpad root
Good luck on this to you I am working as well and will post what I find
Picked up one of these today, we just started working on it a few minutes ago, I'll post the method once done. This could be hours, days, months, who knows, We do have fastboot and the Coolpad Kit from elsewhere on the forums so it shouldn't be hard. But we are working on it.
Same here I really want root, oddly for fastboot oem unlock it doesn't unlock , I have oem unlock enabled in developer options but when I run the command fastboot flashing unlock or fastboot oem unlock or pretty much any command besides fastboot getvar all it comes back with something like FAILED remote unknown command and I have no idea why I have the cool pad legacy/lithium cp3705a if anyone can lend me some knowledge on why the fastboot commands don't work that would be nice I was going to flash a gsi and try to patch a stock boot image via magisk but I can do anything without unlocking the bootloader first, I'm hoping it's not a kernel related issue

Yeah still working on it, waiting for some pie PoCs to come out. But fastboot is borked. I've requested the source code from them we'll see how that goes, doubt it will go anywhere. Can't even find the proper drivers for it. MTKTool is outdated so it can't even get a read on the FS to make a scatter file. All one click apps I tried didn't work so I wouldn't recommend those. OneClickRoot said it could root it but I'm not about to pay them to find out.
I did find a binary(locksettings) in system that allows you to set and remove passwords via command line which seems a bit insecure, but possibly exploitable, and an empty "cdrom_install.iso" in /system/etc But It just says:
"This directory contains the raw data that OEMs want to expose
to end-users.
Due to the limitation of mass storage. The cdrom ISO file should
be larger than 600KBytes.
If you put less files into this directory. Then it will create
a dummy file to fill the gap."
With a nice 616KB pad file.
That's all I've been able to get so far.
Thanks for the update that sums up what I've got as well although i didn't see that system img

Oddly my device seems to be having some sort of bug. The touchscreen will just randomly lock up , I've reset the device , I realized it doesn't so it in safe mode , so I tried deleted apps from adb shell that did nothing , but since it works in safe mode and the device has project treble support I feel as though flashing a gsi would fix the problem , but I can't so that with a locked bootloader

You might want to go through your apps and disable a bunch of the bloat. They had like 3 facebook managers, installers and stuff in there. That could be doing it. I haven't had any such issues but i've only had the phone a few hours and have been in a shell exploring it most of that time.
Update: EDL Mode is accessible. We haven't been able to successfully do anything with it yet due to lack of a firehose, but 9008 mode does work with EDL Cable. If anyone has a SDM450 firehose around that would be ideal.
I already noticed edl mode was there was planning on finding out what to do today , I have a firehouse for the board which is prog_emmc_firehose_8953_ddr.mbn , but I wasn't sure how that worked I'm not to familiar with edl mode or what it can do , also I'm not a dev just an experienced Android / Linux user
---------- Post added at 01:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:30 PM ----------
What would u even use to flash in edl mode? Say a gsi , because there's no stock firmware we can extract , but we can always get a rooted gsi if I'm not mistaken because the device does have project treble support

I'll see if I can find one. They have the board incorrectly listed as both an MTK board and as an msm8953 even though from what I've been able to find msm8953 is strictly the snapdragon625. And Snapdragon 450 doesn't have an msm designation. This thing is a mess inside.
It's been awhile since I've done this mind you. Android has changed a bunch since the 2.X and 4.X days. I've been on a Nexus 6P for years which is open by default.
Wish it was as easy as installing gingerbreak and tapping root like the old days. Lol

I would get temp root via a RCE or EoP pull the boot image, modify it and flash it in EDL therefore enabling fastboot and making the phone ready for TWRP. After that it's just a matter of writing a program that does this for you and the phone would be ready for development.
Well I've done all I know how to do I'll just leave it to you guys and keep an eye on this forum

Waiting for a poc or a firehouse to surface. Android 9 doesn't have many exploits available yet.
Device Unlocking Process Status?
Have we got anywhere with the device unlocking and rooting procedure with this device.

Nope. we are also NOT vulnerable to CVE-2019-2215 at least on my device with the June Patch. Just waiting for a valid exploit.
This is as far as it gets.

I don't know if you guys figured this part out yet or not but I was able to open the engineering menu and turn on the diagnostics port and modem. I'm not very familiar with using it to my advantage but I used quick shortcut maker to open it. It was under yulong labtest I believe. One of the menus are all in chinese so I'm not real sure what else it would let you access.

Well let's see you do something there buddy, obviously you're the expert on the subject.
Cracking enterprise level security isn't just clicking a button. and you ain't paying me. I have a stack of phones and other devices to work on and other more pressing things to do with my life. So, kindly, take your opinion and shove it, root will be released when it's released.

EDL mode won't help without the proper mbn, none of which that are publicly available work. Or if you're talking about the hidden flasher activity we found that awhile ago but I haven't really looked too far into it as i don't have a USB-C OTG drive.
Hello,
my GFs phone with Lineage OS started to bootloop randomly yesterday so I have tried to reflash it witch does not worked. Everytime I have booted into recovery twrp was unable to mount storage so I found some tutorials whose suggested to change filesystem or repair it but none of them worked. As a last resort there was unlocking bootloader but now I cant unlock it after locking because I cant access system and phone is not associated with my account anymore. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance
try clean flashing a fastboot global stable rom using mi flash tool(dont forget to choose clean all in the pc flash tool).
Thanks for your reply, I have tried MiFlash app but I am getting error "Erase boot error"

put your phone in fastboot mode.request anther unlock code if that dont work create new account on pc try again might work then you could use flash tool
Unlocking even with new account does not work because I am unable to link my phone to MI account
there is way with locked bootloader look up EDL mode on youtube you have to take phone apart or shop might fix it that way for you.

You need a windows pc for this method.
Download latest miui recovery rom from here.
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V10.3.6.0.PEJMIXM/miui_POCOF1Global_V10.3.6.0.PEJMIXM_0ba4120b12_9.0.zip
Rename it to stockrom.zip and save to desktop of pc
Reboot phone to recovery. Select mi assistant.
Install google adb drivers and download platform tools from here. http://goo.gl/zTGVyM (32 bit)
http://goo.gl/el03X5 (64 bit)
run command from pc(cmd)
Adb devices
Now if u see any device showing sideload .you have successfully installed adb drivers. If not, search more on xda for adb installation.
Now this if your device appear in list.
adb sideload <path_to_stockrom.zip>
Wait for few minutes to install and boot. Report back if found any error in cmd. I have other method too.

http://en.miui.com/thread-835254-1-1.html this is the other method. Will definitely work
Thanks for your guide but I dont think it would work since there in no recovery in the phone, only fastboot is available. I will try EDL mode

You don't need unlocked bootloader for flashing stock ROM through Mi Flash Tool. If you get errors, change the cable, change the PC/Laptop, use an Intel machine instead of AMD Ryzen, use USB 2.0 port instead of 3.0 port etc.
So I have tried EDL mode but that gives me error that my account is not authorized and also normal flash on different PC and that says that I cannot erase while in LOCK state
here youtube video on edl flashing with err
might work give try

Hi All,
Last week, my phone suddenly dead when I woke up in the morning. It stuck at Mi logo and only can access to Fastboot mode.
I have searched many threads and none of them helps.
I tried to use Mi flash but it said "error FAILED (remote: Partition flashing is not allowed)", I knew this is related the bootloader issue.
Then, I tried to unlock the bootloader but Mi Unlock said "couldn't unlock please add your account in miui" settings" after verify the phone.
The problem is I cannot turn on the device properly, how can i access the settings in the phone.
I don't mind to wipe all data but want to get the phone works as a spare device for me.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.:highfive:

EDL mode is the only way out of your trouble.
were you on MIUI rom? then try loading MIUI recovery and reset everything.

If you are in original MIUI rom and if your bootloader is locked there is no reason your rom would be broken like the way you are describing. however even your EDL mode flashing didn't work so I think there might be hardware problem in your device...

Hi, Same happened with my redmi note 5. It stuck at mi logo screen and I can only go into the fastboot mode. The main issue is the device is locked and I don't have any mi account on this device. When I tried to flash it with this image whyred_global_images_V12.0.2.0.PEIMIXM_20201224.0000.00_9.0_global_561698251e.tgz, the MiFlashTool gives error that device is locked. Please help

When I try to access EDL mode every time, my PC says.
The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned. and windows does not recognize it.

Try on another PC.. USB on your PC has trouble with drivers or fix the PC (guess windows, try clean reinstall)
