NE**FLED AndroidTV Custom ROM Development - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello Community Members,
I have been searching around for any custom ROM that is compatible with my SmartTV but was unable to find anything. A little more search around Google revealed that the brand of my TV is not official, just a re-branded Chinese TV set wich comes in many names as:
Spectrum
Neon
etc..
The model number is NE50FLED (NE**FLED) where 50/40/32 is the size of the monitor..
Software Information:

It has a custom android ROM but with limited capabilities, and I was wondering if any developers would want to give it a try and develop something more usable for these devices. Maybe, there is already something out there that I am not aware of, so please advice.
Regards,
- Ruslan

[Q] how can I help with this project?

*edit* sorry, didn't notice general warning, please move to Q&A
I migrated from SGS i9000 to a huawei G700 phone featuring a mtk6589 chipset.
Sadly, the android version limits the possibilities of the phone really hard: it's oriented towards users who play nicely with their phone, not towards me!
so, to keep a long story short, I'd like CM to be ported to this device. this is not a top-of-the-line product, so I'll certainly have to do it myself.
I already got the complete OS image, kernel properties, installed applications, and so on (boot.img, uboot.img, ...), locally installed here.
the question is: where to go from here? In your guides, I can follow what the developers explain to do and why they are doing it, but I got no idea how to convert this OS image into a CM image ...
Also, as there are apparently developers waiting for mtk6859 roms, should I send them a message asking for their help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2375957
the only issue here is that I can't contact them yet because of the noob limit.

rk3026 Custom Rom

Hi
Welcome to what im hoping will become a popular project amongst owners of Rockchip devices. Over at rkDroid we are aiming to create the first custom rom for the rk3026.
We really are starting at the bottom with this one as there is so little info available about these devices. The aim will be a 2 stage project :
Stage 1 : Cooked stock rom
Stage 2 : KitKat
We want to get as many people involved as we can. This means addressing ALL levels of skill. This is why there are 2 stages.
Stage 1 :The 'cooked rom' - This will be for beginners to contribute to. It could be themes, app suggestions, tweaks, etc. They all go into a custom rom and no one is better than another. Anyone can get involved, even if they dont have a Rockchip device. Icons, Themes, etc. They ALL count.
Stage 2 :'KitKat' - I have the source for the kernel and Android build for KK on the 3026. This means we can (in theory) build KK for it. Rockchip released a press release a few months ago saying the 3188 & 3026 WILL get KK. So far the 3026 has been lacking in this. rkDroid aims to bridge that gap and get a KK build out there for these devices. Im no pro when it comes to building Android or kernels. Ive done a few but im in no way a 'guru'. Im also not stupid. This stage of the project WILL require people with some knowledge of building Android, etc.
Overall, the aim of rkDroid is to bring Rockchip device users together to share info, solve problems, build roms, etc. Our site aims to be a popular resource for Rockchip tablets (No TV sticks or Mini PCs yet, sorry guys).
We dont only support the rk3026, We also have info/roms/etc for the other Rockchip devices like the rk3066, rk3188, etc. We will be aiming to create roms for these too once we get more support.
The bottom line is that if you own a Rockchip device and want to be involved in creating a custom rom for it then get involved with us. Whatever level you are at you can have an input in this project and we welcome everyone. n00b or bo$$, its all the same to us, There is a place for everyone at rkDroid.
Let us know if your interested in this project and lets see if we can beat Rockchip by getting our own KK build out before them

I flashed your ROM from rkdroid here with 3.0.36+([email protected]) #69 kernel. Rom is really fast but only problem is that wifi doesn't work. If I try to turn wifi bar on it will automatic slide to off position. It says that "turning wifi on" but nothing happens. I can't flash my stock rom back because my TWRP backup is corrupted (system part is missing).
Can you help me?
Solution: Turns out that that my wifi is actually Atheros AR9271 so all I need to do was flash Oma Cube U25GT2-H JB v1.0 rom with my genuine kernel. Everything is working now!

Req. Unified Teclast/Mtk(Mediatek) chipset support? TWRP/CWM?

Hello All
Just asking around, wondering if there is a unified thread or devs working with MTK socs, or Teclast based devices. I am aware of Riley Rom, and that a lot of the dev may be Asian or Chinese based from the Baidu released with Teclast based firmware/ROM.
I have a Teclast P98 4g (A8H6), I've been able to root, but trying to install a custom based ROM or CM or AOSP rom..... first I would need to get a functioning TWRP/CM recovery to work on this device.... let alone drivers for adb....which I am able to get the tablet into adb. It's just been a headache reading through all these different sites and forums for other devices, trying to find a way and tools to get it to work for my device.
I see some support for Cube T7 and T9, and Teclast T98 4g (which is almost the same exact device, different camera and clock speed) and some other similar devices with a similar SoC/chipset as this one. Just wondering if there are eyes or ears anywhere that may have more information or a dedicated thread. I've come across some German Dev sites, for Cube T9, but wondering if any know Devs here in XDA or other links with similar work that we may be able to reference.
I've also commented on this one link for the Review of my device but seems there isnt much feedback there.... not a dev thread.
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/teclast-p98-4g-updated-mtk8752-octa-t3065247
Req. Dedicated Mtk/Teclast Threads/Subforum ..... maybe possible to centralize all the info based on these Tablets , phones and chipsets and have a unified dev or tool set....
Updated thread for SP Flashtool or other similar tools for flashing/root....
to Admin and Dev..... not trying to spam or request anything otherworldly. Just asking the forum for tips, pointers.... maybe someone has answers or solutions I am looking for.... please move to where appropriate.

problems if installing CyanogenMod ROM for same device with different RAM size?

Hello, here I am new to your great, and huge, site.
I would like to be assisted as to where to ask the following question, and I've just been kindly assisted to ask the following question in this group:
I would like to know if in general one should expect or not problems when trying to install a Cyanogen OS ROM for same model with different RAM. I am in particular interested about BQ Aquarius X5, which is going to appear with 3GB RAM in pure Android (not Cyanogen), but until now only has had 2GB and thus the currently existing Cyanogen OS for this model and, I suppose, corresponding CyanogenMod, are in principle directed to this 2GB RAM model only.
I've tried to find information about this general (or maybe particular) question, without any success. I'm writing here since there is no forum for the X5, nor I can see any FAQ or previous posting in this website regarding this subject. I'd tend to think that there should be no problem, but the person attending the web support site at BQ doesn't know either but tends to think differently. Maybe there is a concrete answer for this question, or where could I learn more about this issue?
Thank you very much!

[HELP] New "developer" in desperate need of guidance (ZTE Nubia NX629KJ)

Hello all!
First time Android "developer" Cory here. I've been rooting phones and flashing all kinds of things for years now, but this is the first time I actually want to try to develop something.
First a quick introduction about my community and device. The Nubia Red Magic 3 has been pushed by all sorts of online personalities and tech companies, even XDA. It's a Chinese gaming phone with tons of power, and the first ever mechanical cooling system. However ...it's global release has been staggered by very, very poor firmware. It runs on Android 9 and lacks many features that leave global (English) customers feeling ripped off in some way.
I want to develop a stable, stock-based ROM for my community by learning how to take the good bits of the Chinese version of our devices ROM, and merge it with the "Gapps" compatible variant that we all know (and hate).
I've done lots of research online, and so far have only found a tool that lets me extract system.new.dat.br so I can change things like sounds and graphics. I don't know how to repack it.
There are lots of Google results for things that seem helpful, but turn out to be very outdated, sometimes by as much as 7 years. Also many links to tools are either dead or outdated (even here on XDA).
We (the Red Magic community) are desperate for a stable ROM that we can use daily, and I want to deliver that. I have ideas of where I want to start, but I can't find out how.
Thanks in advance for any and all guidance!
-------
Current checklist of To Do's:
Change system sounds (done)
Create stable, Interactive based kernel
Fix Chinese system translations
Debloat proprietary Chinese apps for global users
Implement stable launcher/replace permanent Chinese launcher
Integrate system Gapps into ROM
More to come.
