The application manager will open, but as soon as I start scrolling I get a message that the application manager has stopped working and get kicked back to the home screen. I've tried powering down and restarting, and I uninstalled the last few apps I'd added in case one of them had anything to do with it, but I really need to change some app settings and I can't access them. I don't know how long it's been doing this because I don't access the application manager very often.

You may try factory reset or flash stock kdz again.

Hello,
I have a problem with my samsung galaxy s2 GT-I9100
running android 2.3.5 stock version.
I'm normal user who used the phone for basic function like making phone calls and using the google, facebook apps with some installed apps from the play store.
Today, 2 hours ago logsprovider initiated out of nowhere an endless loop of "force close" alerts, between them most of the running apps were closed too (including some weird z7... app).
Because of the interval (about half a second) between alerts I can goto setting -> apps -> and "clear data" in the logsprovider config.
this stops the "force close" alerts loop untill the next restart of the phone. in this state I basically don't have access to the phone features and all the home screens are empty, including the phone's apps menu.
I can run any app by adding it to the home screen and then executing it, if the app has system operation like the play store that require it to install something, the app will crash and no new programs will install.
I can also connect the phone to a computer and get access to all the files (I think it's just those on storage), I might try to get an apk of an antivirus there and try to install it - hope it doesn't crash
These are desprate times... thats why I'm contacting the experts,
1. Can I fix this, this might have been caused by an app, what to do?
2. If the only solution is factory reset how do I backup the data, apps, or contact lists?
Long form:
I am using an LG Enlighten, not as a phone but simply something to connect to hotspots with, check my email, and such things. Since I was not doing anything vital with it, I didn't put much thought into backing anything up.
Now, irritated with the default web browser, Bing and suchlike, I downloaded a bloatware remover and deleted the browser, along with two or three programs that looked like Verizon bloatware. As it turns out, one of those was my home launcher.
I did back these apps up in the program itself, but that isn't much use since I can't even access the program without a home screen.
I realized what had happened when I pressed Back to get out of the app. Instead, it went to the last app I had used. And then the one before that, and before that, and so on. I tried to keep pressing back until it would take me to the market, where I could open up the bloatware removal app and restore the backups, but eventually I came to a black screen where I could do nothing at all.
I turned off the phone, and was unable to turn it back on without performing a factory reset. Now, the phone goes to the Activation screen, and I am able to connect to USB, but that's it. The escape sequence won't bring me to the home screen - the launcher is apparently still gone.
Do you know of any way to resolve this issue?
Short form:
Is there a way that I can restore the home launcher?
Search for the stock firmware and flash it...
Agreed. At this point, your best chance is to flash a ROM, if you're rooted.
Thanks. I take it that root carries through a hard reset?
Edit - I have to admit that I can't figure out how to access the bootloader on this phone. I had tried volume-down + camera, but that prompts a hard reset.
You could also try getting the launcher apk and push it via adb.I even think it doesn't have to be the stock launcher

I am running cyanogenmod 10.1.3 and everything has been great up until just now. When looked at my phone all the apps were missing. If i go to settings and apps I can see all my apps so they are still there but they are not showing up in the app drawer, home screen or dock I cant access them at all. I really need to use my phone but I cant get to my contacts or call long. Suggestions????

that's an odd one.
you might try the following:
1. Reboot the phone if you haven't already.
2. clear the cache on the home app. (Settings > apps > all apps > launcher > "Clear Cache")
3. Its been a while since I've used trebuchet but if it has a reset feature you might try that as well
a.I would guess the easiest way to get to it would be starting at the home screen then hitting menu > launchersettings . reset
(if someone else actually uses that launcher feel free to chime in.)
4. otherwise you might even try downloading a different launcher from the market and see if your apps show up there.
5. if none of that works you can also try rebooting to recovery and wiping cache and dalvik cache. (just don't wipe data or you really will lose your apps)
Thanks. I tried EVERYTHING. Luckily when I turned it back on an app had updated so it showed in the status bar and i could get to google play for that and go to my back up app open it up from google play and back up all my apps. And then someone text so I could get into my contacts and save them from there. (if theses hadnt happened i would have been SOL) Then I rebooted into recovery and wiped everything like I would normally do for a new ROM and flashed 10.1.3 again but it kept coming up with an error tried it three times couldnt get it to work. I even downloaded a new and tried that on and it wouldnt work neither would the new 10.2. So something in the phone just doesnt like that ROM!!! I ended up flashing a slim rom and its working just fine now.
So this is my old phone that my mom is using since January. Before giving it to her I did a factory reset, and it worked fine. Recently since the February security update the phone freezes when typing. It will open random apps, and requires a force restart to stop the freeze. When you go to clear the tasks in the manager and restart the phone, they are all there again open (Facebook, games, camera etc). Her Google maps app was running in the background when the window popped up saying "Process System is responding. Do you want to close it?". Neither button will work, it stays frozen on the screen. A hard restart brought the phone to bootmode. Should I run it in safe mode to see if it's an app or? Was wondering if anyone has had some similar experience.
Stock rom, no root.
So I used the debloat thread to get rid of a lot of things (uninstalling stuff through adb shell). Only problem is I got an error randomly/occasionally that said "Galaxy apps has stopped..." and required me to press a button to get rid of the message. Things were fine so I lived with it, but recently I decided to try and uninstall some more stuff and hopefully get that message to go away.
Now my phone shows my background and says "Android is starting...". It just sits there with a loading bar moving.
I can swipe down the top of the screen and go into settings, then apps, and I can access all my apps, then view on Google Play store.. so I am able to open all my apps just fine, with a bunch of extra steps to get them open. I tested the alarm clock so I can wake up in the morning and it works fine also.
I tried booting into safe mode. I understand I may need to do a factory reset, but I was hoping to avoid going through that.
Any suggestions?
To add insult to injury as I sit here typing this the "Galaxy Apps has stopped" message popped up again! I wasn't even touching my phone lol.
Well, I figured that out.. I must have removed whatever Samsung uses as a launcher. I downloaded another launcher and instantly the "Android is starting" message went away.
Any way to get Samsung's launcher back? I kind of started to like it.. or is there another one you recommend I try?
