Hello, i have this little problem: when i flash a bootanimation.zip from recovery it fails or when i reboot the bootanimation is the same as before.
Also if i manually replace the bootanimation.zip file and reboot it is still the same ad before.
Sorry for my bad english, and also if i'm posting in the wrong thread please correct me.
Thanks in advance

What bootanimation do you want to flash exactly? Which recovery and version?
I flash the animation on my XT1068 almost every week, in most cases with selfmade ones. There should´t be a problem.
If you manually replace it think of the authorities which should be r-r-rw

I was flashing one made by me with TWRP 2.6.
Later i tried to flash it with an app and it worked, but for half of the time there is the logo displayed

Maybe there's sometimes wrong with your animation? Here's a thread with bootanimations that definitely work (/Moto G 2014 themes and apps), maybe try one of those to be sure. When you put your stock animation back manually does it work?

Try one of these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/themes-apps/custom-boot-logos-t3476214
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/themes-apps/flashable-moto-boot-animations-t3481711
If you don´t flash them extract the bootanimation.zip and place it into system/media (save your original animation before) and set the authorities to rw-r-r. (sry, wrote that wrong in the previous post).

Hi members,
I know that there are ways to change the boot-animation, but I after I saw the complete Google Nexus boot up I liked It pretty much.
I already got the Nexus animation boot-up but I also want to replace the "Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100" logo for the Nexus "Google" logo.
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance.
Just swap the boot logo png, it's in the same folder as the boot animation (system/media I THINK)

I don't quite understand you jje, theme section on XDA or do I need to find a theme section on my phone?
First one
bootanimation.zip
Of course youre phone needs to be rooted.
Then you take youre bootanimation, often "Bootanimation.zip"
Use for example "Root Explorer" app, that have superuser rights to
youre phone system. "R.E" is like "Windows Explorer" for rooted phones
When you use "R.E" to be able to copy and paste systemfiles, you need to
"Mount RW", Read-Write.
Copy the Bootanimation.zip, and paste it in youre phones filesystem,
/data/local/bootanimation.zip
A good indication youre in right folder, is that some "temp" file is also there.
Reboot phone, and voila!
Good luck man
PS!
A very good post is here

I will keep this post updated and tell you guys if it worked or not.
from my experience you have to use a non stock kernel as stock kernels dont allow you to change the boot animation .. I may be wrong?
I am already using a costum kernel as you need to have a rooted device to actually change the boot-logo.
Btw, it works like a charm.
Thanks for the help you guys.

tried from cwm no go cant seem to find system/media with root explorer in cm9
don't flash it...if you can't find /system/media, then put it on /data/local. android automatically overrides the one in system/media with the one you placed in data/local.
it's works on CM9 0604, jut put in system/media
I put the file in system/media with root explorer, restarted the phone and nothing. I have no animation but the regular android text. Did I miss something ?

Hello Guys!
I am back with my new and great boot-animation for our only Xperia SP!
This is a great and amazing boot-animation
With the logo of Xperia SP a pure white essence just beautify's the phone's look with the X Box logo
It's just amazing
I have attached 3 screenshots which I guess are more than enough for you!
Rest you need to see when you try
This is an aroma flashable file so just boot into recovery and install this amazing boot animation
Some special feautres
* It has sound which intensifies the amazing experience of this boot animation
* It is in potrait mode i.e. You have it in vertical screen
* It is a flashable file. No need to carry all the manual setting like copying, setting permission bla bla. Just download, reboot in recovery, install and enjoy
Q:- I am just loving it, want to try NOW! But how to install it with keeping my current (or original) bootanimation safe!
You just need to go to root of your phone via root explorer the migrate to "/system/media/" there you will find your current or stock bootanimation.zip file. Just copy it and save it to someplace safe.
Then reboot into recovery and install my bootanimation!
Warning : No bricked devices should be blamed at me! Install at your own risk. Recommendation is to always keep a nandroid backup ready!

Though it is purely SAFE! But in-case you know if any mishap happens.
Please hit thanks for this great bootanimation..!
Here is the download link : https://app.box.com/s/quf3wpea5b54vcivdcv0
Request : Every work I do I need resources and currently I am working on various projects along with this bootanimation projects like building a beautiful and super sexy and fast ROM (4.4.4) with all the options to edit your own ROM as you wish from customizing battery icon to it's system tray and everything without any third party software! I am creating manual themes that would be provided with the ROM. Me alone as a developer it takes pretty much time and resources to build them eg I had my phone hard bricked just for trying my first bootanimation I made and I lost all my data in case of recovering it and it costed a lot of money too as Sony Service Center had to repair it. Please consider a small donation to me as it would help me to get my resources as I try every project before I release and ensure that you don't feel any bugs and it will also encourage me to develop more projects for future. If you have problem in donating then wait for sometime as my PayPal doesn't opens for all but do try at a later time. Thanks in advance

You have to set the authorizations correctly. In the most cases it's rw-r-r. Or just check what authorizations the original bootanimation.zip has and use the same.
Sent from somewhere
CM 12.1 does not support mp4 bootanimation. To get it work you should also copy file /system/bin/bootanimation from stock firmware.

Already done that, but still it didn't worked. Only a bootloader unlocked page is displayed, then after boottime it directly reaches the home screen. Possibly, CM12.1 doesn't support .mp4 bootanim.

Yes, for mp4 files on CM you need another zip too.
I uploaded the stock animation incl. the other zip. It works with the stock animation, I don´t know if the system_bin_bootanimation.zip works with other mp4 files too.
Put both files in the right folder and set the authorizations correctly.

As some user posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=63443593 you need the bootanimation and the system.bin file from your stock firmware. These are the files I attached. I have a XT1068, maybe you need the system.bin of your model. Download the right stock firmware for your device and extract the system.bin file from there.
And check out the right path and permission, just like it is on stock. I have a custom rom installed and don't remember the exact file structure anymore.

Typically boot animations zips are placed into /system/media and permissions are set to RWRR.
Let me check with the fellow that helped me put this together and just confirm it first but that's my suspicion. Thanks!
Edit
Flash that in recovery.
I didn't have the time until now to look into that zip and it's flashable. I'll update the OP

Delete files in \carrier\cust\poweron and poweroff
This eliminates the ugly yellow Sprint boot animation that hides the pretty android L animation after flashing.

This worked fine for me. No more yellow Sprint Spark screens, happy Android animation. However, and perhaps it's just my imagination, but there seems to be a slightly longer wait between the last animation and drawing the screen. In other words, the screen seems dark longer. Perhaps the Android animation just doesn't last as long?

Yes...common. No worries. Often times if the boot had to build up cache if boot ani is short it can end and remain black til the boot completes. No worries. But im sure you already noticed by now.
