Trying to use MiXplorer and it's saying my sd card is read only... tried SDFix but no joy... haven't had this issue in a long while and can't figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi!

I had the same requirement. I resolved it with
Root => Install Xposed => XInternalSD module
XInternalSD exchanges internal SD with external SD , per each app you want to give access

Hey guys I'm having an issue with setting my sd card as my download directory, when I set it to external sd and try to download anything wether it be a picture or a document I get Message saying their is not enough space cannot finish download, now I thought it might be my sd card going bad so I went out and purchased a New one 64GB, old one was 32gb but I'm still getting the same message, I can set it to internal memory dl the file and then transfer it to my sd after just fine so I know now it's not an sd issue.
Anyone have a solution to this issue or advice on what I should try thanks
Btw I'm using boat browser if it matters

You could try the app SDFix by NextApp in the Play Store. It's free.
- Tapatalked from the G3 -
OP - Are you rooted?
KitKat has issues with access to microSD depending on what you are doing.
You will need to enable full access to SD.
Look in the root thread ot use Xposed with Tweakbox.

Yes I am rooted, All I'm trying to do is set the sd card as my dl directory, so files save to my sd card and not internal memory.
I have xpososed as well as tweak box already installed

boat browser is not a privileged app. It will not write everywhere on the sdcard with default kitkat privileges. you can change them manually or since you are rooted use an app like sdfix or an xposed module to do the change for you.
more details here

I have the same problem with the internal card. i can't download anything off of playstore anymore because it says insufficient memory. I am going to have to flash the stock b06 thing and start over. blows. Oh and there is like 12 gig available on the internal card and I dont see any other way around it. Maybe after refreshing I will be able to implement the newest root method and that will clear it up. Also I DON'T have a problem saving random objects to the samsung evo 64gb (omg you have to get one) because I did the kitkat fix and it worked fine.
Hi all,
As to this stock lollipop firmware from Sony, have they allowed apps to write to sd card without root?
If not, I will stick to stock android 4.3.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

Just went ahead and tested for you, I tried moving files to external SD card and I have two apps installed on the external SD card. Works fine.
Thanks, theinspector!

i tried this lollipop its not working moving to sdcard.
im searching lollipop root for sony z ultra but dont have im deleted lollipop i hate this.
Because we cant moving apps to sdcard.
I had no problems moving apps to sd... You are doing it wrong... No root necessary
I am still on 4.4.4 with root and LB as I dont want to upgrade to lollipop and lose root+x reality. The update detail says "move apps to sd card" so I guess we can only move apps.
Yes, I believe you can move some apps to SD card ? . I believe it mentions this on Sony Xperia™ support site.

You can move apps to SD cards. But they don't support to write access to SD cards for files . Using third party apps.
example uKto, Share it , etc

So it still has the same problem as 4.4, damn it, why would they do that... I guess I'll wait for an easy and tested root method before upgrading then.

this is true. although some apps have workarounds (ex. x-plore), a lot of apps still can't write to sd with lollipop 5.0.2 on xperia.
I'm unable to move my apps installed on Honor 5X - L22 (indian) model - Using Class 4 Memory card - 4Gb, is that an issue using low Class SD Card does not allow apps to be moved ??
Tried using Apps to move Apps but unable to detect them to move ? Are those locked ? Yet patches will fix this issue on this Stock ROM - Not Rooted.

Right i'm able to move indvidual apps through apps. But still unable to make it at smooth.
Settings-> Manage Apps. Click on the app you want to move and click 'Move to sd Card'. Once moved to sd card, the button description will change to 'Move to Phone'. If the app is a system app, it may have this button disabled. If your not root, then I would suggest you root your phone to give you more permissions (these buttons may be disabled on non-root devices). Your sd card is fine, it maybe slow, but it should still work. There are apps on the market which can move apps to sd card but they may require root.

What exactly does rooting mean?
And why do people brick their phone when trying it?!
Arobase40 said:
Root is the process of elevating your your rights on your system just as Administrator with Windows or root with Linux.
This has mostly nothing to do with bricking a phone but with flashing custom ROMs with some flashalcoholic guys...
It's the same story as with alcohol or with drugs, you know its bad and not good for your health but there is that insane curiosity, and with some guys they will continue even though they have had bad experiences...
Instead, with root when done and use correctly is a very powerful and wonderful tool !

So in order to gain root access I'd have to flash a custom ROM, which is a new OS?

In order to flash a custom ROM you have to first have root in the first place. Root gives you the permission to do things on your phone when normally you wouldn't beable to do so (Like flash a custom ROM {which means modified OS}).
You should search the forums and get good at searching the forums and google. Internet peeps don't like people who ask questions that have already been answered. Just a piece of friendly advice yo.
I regret buying this with 4.4.2 so I decided to try rooting. I successfully rooted my tablet and have a super user app installed and activated, developer options on with debugging. but now I need to figure out how to set the sd card as the default for storage. What is the best app to do this?
Internal memory: 8gb
External SD card: 32gb
Processor: Quadcore-A33
Model: X9
Kernel version 3.4.39
That will only work for thing like the camera for pics. Some apps can be moved to SD card but they will be buggy. You would need 7.0 to get SD card integration.
Thanks, so Marshmallow doesn't do this either? I was just reading on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A with Marshmallow it does transfer apps to sd card. Isn't there an app to send apps to sd card, the whole thing with the OBB?

Samsung devices had the option but because of the way Android was programmed it was always buggy and never worked right. Many apps started preventing the move to SD card option all together.
No there is no app for this. You would have to compile your own aosp based rom.
Even with 7.0 you lose the SD card so to speak as once you combine it for apps it can't be removed when the device is on and can't be read outside of the device.

Hi Guys. Is there any way to fix the problem with ability to write data by apps on the sd card? I have been searching a solution, but found none.

The official Xposed installer appeared a few days back, so I installed it. Now I have no problems with the writing data on sd card thanks to xinternalSD module.
