Since it's a generic Chinese tablet, root is theoretically possible? I've seen talk of Kingsroot, is that safe? Never heard of it before! Thank you for any info!
EDIT: I think this is the website with all the drivers and tools? http://www.yanbochuang.com/h-col-123.html
Just to update: used Kingroot, and it works! So if you want a nice cheap tablet with root, this is a good option.
No bloat, barely anything installed. BUT there was com.softwinner.loggerservice, which sounded dodgy, so I uninstalled it

Not sure about which one is the best, but I ordered the Ainol Novo7 Elf about a week ago.
Mostly the same specs, but it has 1GB of RAM and a 1024x600 display.

Hi i'm deciding between these 2. How is the ainol performing? Or should I get the viewpad 7e?
It's a shame none of these have bluetooth thus can't use a dual shock 3/sixaxis on it.
Its pretty good. ICS launchers are a bit laggy on it, but not too much. On slatedroid there's a ROM that is based off the stock one, but cleaned out of the Chinese apps and has some extra tweaks and has the market with a mmodified build.prop so you get more apps. (Fools the market into thinking the Elf is a galaxy tab 7)
3D games work like a charm on it though

After reading a lot of "reviews", I'm sold on it. The ainol has the mips processor so most programs will not work with for they are written in the arm architecture. Since hyundai hasn't have an official website and I can't find decent information on how to root or update and put google market on it. I'm still thinking on purchasing it
The Novo7 Paladin has a MIPS processor, the Elf is using the same one as the Hyundai (Allwinner A10)
so will the gnex be a high end phone as in having desktop convergence? according to their website, for it to be a high end phone, it needs to have a quadcore a9 processor. otherwise it fulfills every other aspect. this phone has a dualcore a9 processor, so will there be desktop convergence. I really hope there will be I want to try it out.
Well from what I saw, every video demo etc. Was specifically the galaxy nexus. At one point I did see "a" phone connected using the desktop feature. Each phone I saw using the Ubuntu mobile has been the nexus.
Edit : I've also heard the specs released aren't final and just a figure for certain phones.

the entry specs are
1Ghz Cortex A9
512MB – 1GB
4-8GB eMMC + SD
Multi-touch
hig end specs are
Quad-core A9 or Intel Atom
Min 1GB
Min 32GB eMMC + SD
Multi-touch
so i think The Galaxy Nexus is just a "normal" UbuntuPhone device

that's OEM specs, which doesn't mean much for download/install version potentially. The values of which would have been decided are best to give the full desktop experience - including downloading alot of desktop apps. Time will tell, but I suspect desktop version will run perfectly on GNEX, or any other internal memory only phone - it's just a matter of keeping your eye on space available when you are installing Ubuntu native apps.
I'm also wondering if the Desktop Feature will simply be disabled on devices with lower than recommended specs. I have seen some Ubuntu on Android videos using a Motorolla Atrix II which has exactly the same hardware as the GNex. It ran the desktop and even Ubuntu TV pretty good considering it was early in development (1 year ago) and running ontop of Android with bridges to access the phone settings and apps.
Hi guys.
I was advised to come here by a Hardforum user with my issue.
I have searched, and searched, google and forums (this one inculded) but can't find anywhere product or problem specific with the issues i have.
(first, i just need to say, the NOOB video on sign up is freaking HILARIOUS. Every forum needs one of those!)
Long shot in the dark here.
My friend has a Flytouch 9 (superpad) Pretty decent tablet for the money. Only thing is, he said he tried to root it (im not an android guy)
It now doesn't turn on at all. it's dead. totally un-responsive. He said (apparantly) that the software doesn't know what the hardware is (if that makes sense, something to do with the kernel)
He said if i can get it back up and running, i can have it. But, that doesn't seem likely so i'm shouting out for help! lol. Any ideas?
Here are the specs i can find.
CPU: RK3066 Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 1.6GHz + 4 GPU
Android OS: Android 4.1.1 Jellybean
4 Core Mali-400 MP GPU
DDR 1G DDR3
16 gb NAND Flash.
Thanks in advance.
Hi! I recently bought a chinese tablet which is actually comercialized here in Argentina under Magnum Tech brand, model number x704.
It´s a 7.85", A7 arm dual core 1.2ghz, 1gb RAM, running Android 4.2.2. It runs a little slow, and for instance when playing Asphalt 8, there is a little delay with the turning controls.
Given the specs, I guess it could run smoother an ICS or the previous SO, and even better with a custom one.
So, does anybody know where can I find the roms for this tablet?
Please let me know if you need any screenshots or any additional information.
I would really appreciate your help.
HI XDA folks,
So i wanted to get my kids a budget tablet for christmas, but not junk. Something that would be ok. Now for me Android needs atleast 2gb RAM. All of the devices i have tried with 1GB of RAM are slow as hell.
https://venturer.com/product/venturer-voyager-7-android-tablet/ The device is from ventuer which is a rebrand of RCA which is also Alco. So there are a few devices on XDA already.
It as 10 Go and is ok for its spec. But i know from my own experiences tinkering with Dev options and Build prop etc, different Firmware I know it can be made smoother. It has the full google suite for starters...
Anyways, I installed Android Assitant which gave me this information.
So a bit of info.
Model = VCT9F78Q22EU
Android = 10 (go version)
brand = Venturer
Manufacturer = Alco
board= tb8168p1_bsp
Hardware= mt8168
4 cores 2ghz each, armeabi-v7A, armeabi
MediaTek MT8168 Processor - Benchmarks and Specs
Benchmarks, information, and specifications for the MediaTek MT8168
www.notebookcheck.net
Mediatek SOC
Anyways, any one come across this device so far? Any chance of rooting?
Regards
Berty
