Is it possible to disable adoptable storage? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got a Sony Z4 tab that needed a memory expansion, so I got a 128 GB SD card and formatted it as adoptable storage. I followed a guide to the point, where the card was to be partitioned so 90 % of it would be used as internal memory, but something went wrong and only 10 % is allotted to internal memory.
So I need to get the card out (currently having a piece of the OS on it), reformat it and put it back in. But how do you disable adoptable storage first? I'd need to get everything over to the built in memory of the tablet before removing the SD card.
I've deleted large files I don't need, so there's enough room to get everything over, just can't find a guide showing how.

[Q] Internal SD, External SD and app2SD questions

I seem to have trouble grasping the concept of Internal and external SD memory.
I purchased a 16GB microSD card with the hopes that I can move most of my apps to that card but when I use app2sd I always get the "Failed to move application, not enough memory" error.
When I check the free space it shows more than 13GB on both the internal memory and also on the microSD card.
Since my gtablet has 16GB of "internal" storage already, what's microSD card good for?
Shouldn't I be able to move apps to either internal or external SD storage or am I just not understanding how this all works?
Can someone explain to me in Layman's terms what I need to do?
Thanks !!
PS: I just now accidentally reformatted my internal SD card so I will have to start from scratch anyways ;-)

From what I understand, app2sd functionality is built into Froyo & beyond. No need for a separate app.
In laymans terms, your 16GB internal sd is split in 2, 2GB for apps & 14 gb for data.I have 88 apps installed & it is only using 492MB of the 2GB. Apps install to the 2GB area, but the (and the system) use the 14 GB data area for storage. You can also use this space for dat/files storage as well.
The external microsd slot is generally used by you for data storage. You can use it for what ever you like. I use mine to store copies of different roms/nvflash, movies/video/pictures & music transferred from the PC.

[Q] Boot system file to switch microsd mount with internal memory

A long time ago I had edited a file that is read on boot, in that file is written which one of the two 'partition' has to be mounted as what.
Basically, my 32GB microsd is seen as the internal memory of the device (which would be 12 GB), and the other one as micro sd. The result is that most application would go to the microsd by default, using thus 32GB for apps instead of 12GB.
Well, I would like to go back and have no clue what file I had edited, and cannot find the old thread on XDA....
can someone help me?
This is because my microsd is failing. Changed with a new one, and now it is failing again. I suppose my phone has become a 'micro sd destroyer'. Cannot do anything about it, so better to use the internal memory instead of the card for main use....until I can fix it. So how do I switch back to normal mounting (micro sd as micro sd and internal memory as internal memory and not switched up) ?
up ?
fixed. closed.

L9 storage question internal/external

Hi!
I have installed MIUI on my L9, and 16gb sdcard.
I see very strange thing. When i use memory of my External sdcard and try to download/delete something from here (ex. apk 40mb) my INTERNAL memory gets more free space.
This is normal?
I didnt see divide of types of files on EXTERNAL memory card in options of memory. Only see this with internal card.
Dunno what is this but have problems with installing or downloading somehing items on external card, becouse internal card think i download to internal memory.
sorry for my bad eng.
please help, i cant install bigger programs, even backup from external card is see in memory of internal card.
My phone in internal memory have only 500-600mb storage busy, but phone "think" and show me i have only 700mb from 2.5gb of fre space becouse other files on external memory phone thinking is on internal.
how can fix this??
before have samsung/motorola/htc phones and didnt have this problems...

[Q] Merging phone storage and internal sd

Hello,
I recently bought a Lenovo A820 and am currently using LambdaROM 2.3.5a. My phone has 4GB of internal space and I have a 8GB microSD card in it as well. My internal storage is running low, but my internal sd card is empty and cannot be used, because I've all things on the external sd. Is there anyway to merge the internal sd card with the internal phone storage? I've searched long and hard already, but found no concrete information. I know I can swap memories and even link my sd card to the phone storage. But my internal storage is 4GB which only 2GB are being used for the phone storage and 2GB are partitioned to the internal sd card. I would like to merge them into the internal phone storage, if possible. My question is: is it possible? If so, how can I do it?
Thank you.
Bump for ZLR/ALPS F9006
Hi
You cannot merge virtual internal SD and physical external SD into one volume.
However you can probably swap it - which should solve all of your problems.
Your phone has MTK6589 chip, so the process will be similar as on my Snopow: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2777140
After the swap external SD will be visible as internal SD and the other way round. That means you can buy 64GB SD card and have all this space available for installing apps because phone will see this card as internal storage.

Can't access or view android SD Card formatted as Internal Storage

I have a spare cheap ZTE phone that only has 8GB internal memory.
So I added a 16GB external SD card and formatted that as Internal Storage. Now on the android phone, I was finally happy to be able to have all the apps install on the external 16GB microsd card.
In the android storage settings, it also shows up as 24 GB total (8GB phone plus 16GB microSD)
However, when I use ES Explorer or when I connect it to a PC, it only shows me 3.24 GB so I can't copy any music, photos, or large files... it's not letting me access/use that rest of the 24 GB I'm supposed to have available because Android seems to encrypt it (as it was Android formatted it as internal storage, I believe).
Android understands it has 24GB available when installing apps, but it only thinks it has 3.24 GB when trying to copy data files.
What is the deal with that? What should I do? Is there a workaround or fix?
