Since Android 5.0 this action has been disabled by the OS. Prior you could have an app trigger mobile data on/off with screen on/off or any other action. Now it doesn't work, and root doesn't do it as well in Marshmallow at least.
How come they disabled this feature?

This very annoying removal of the quick toggle I am trying to find a workaround, everytime there is a new android version I have to fight with feature removals.
I thought this would be simple using tasker but in tasker the 2g/3g mobile data toggle function is red, marked as unavailable on my device.
It can still be toggled but only manually navigating deep inside the settings menu. It seems tho a quick toggle API function is removed.
Any app/tasker guide to work around this? as I suspect this can still be done via tasker but instead having to make it call the menu function instead.
I use the app Ultimate Rotation Control to force apps in landscape mode.
This app requires Accessibility Service to be enabled but every time I turn the screen off this is disabled again.
What could be the cause of this?
Accessibility Service is also enabled for Nova Launcher and this stays enabled.

Huawei rom closes any app which is not protected(see settings>protected apps) when screen is turned off. Whenever a app is closed, its accessibility setting is disabled again.
Try setting protection for URC on.
PS: every time you boot device, you may have to set accessibility on again. Not sure about this though.
Thanks, that worked!
Upgraded my Redmi Note 3 from MiUI lollipop 5.1.1 to SIimROM Nougat 7.1.2. My phone is rooted with Magisk & also has systemless xposed.
First, I want to disable quick settings pull down from the lock screen. I'm able to use every toggle on my quick settings screen without the PIN code. Wouldn't want to allow that without the PIN. Gravitybox Nougat doesn't seem to have an option to disable that.
Second, on MiUI, whenever an app accessed my location, I also got a notification that displayed which app was using location. This doesn't seem to be the case on AOSP Nougat, all I get is a location icon in the status bar, but have no idea which app is accessing my location. That isn't of much use, is there is a root app or an xposed module that can display which app is accessing my location?
Third, the max volume on my ROM seems to be too low, I can't hear most YouTube videos I watch without keeping the phone very close to my face. Which mod would be the best to increase system volume? I don't care about other equalizer settings & all that, just want a way to increase max system volume.
Fourth, when I first setup a lock screen on my ROM, it seems to have encrypted my phone. But when I turned On accessibility service of an app, I no longer see the secure PIN screen that was asked before at boot. Some searching made me realize that turning On accessibility disables encryption, don't know why this is the case. 4 of my apps need the accessibility service to do their tasks, is there no way to have the accessibility service enabled while also keeping the phone encrypted? There must be some workaround....
I've been using this tablet for a few days now, and I've noticed that I don't have the manual rotation feature or a toggle for it. (It's the one that shows a little rotation button prompt when you turn your device, with 'auto-rotate' turned off.) Apparently, One UI devices should have a toggle in the sub-menu that appears when pressing the text in the Auto-rotate quick settings tile, but my Tab S3 doesn't show the toggle there. (Weirdly, my Note 8 also doesn't have the toggle but the feature is active anyway)
I did find a solution, which is an app called Tap'n'Turn that so far is working nicely, but I'd thought I'd ask if there were any other solutions that don't rely on a constantly running service.
Also, I'm running rorymc928's tweaked version of the T820 stock ROM based on the original Android Pie release (September 2019 I think), with Riru EdXposed. Thought I'd add that info just in case I've accidently done something that's hidden the toggle if it's supposed to be present. (On that note, I did try disabling GravityBox, but that made no difference.)
I remember that in some update we had the feature to avoid mobile data deactivation on the lock screen to prevent anyone to deactivate it. But in recent updates, this feature was gone.
Is it only on my phone? Is there anything I can do to get it back?
