I ordered the tablet from amazon and received it today, upon booting the tab, i find that the display aspect is a tiny bit incorrect, in portrait mode it looks like everything is taller, and in landscape mode, everything looks wider, is there any fix for this? android version is 5.0.1 and thats the latest update, when i look at youtube videos, the display seems to be fine, any help in this matter will be appreciated.. thanks

Made a mistake and now I regret it. Don't get me wrong. The gtablet is a REALLY great device. Very fast (never used a Tegra II device before -- it's awesome). Touch response it good. I've watched some TV on it using Flash, which is really fun and impressive. It loads full size web pages fast enough I don't have any desire to install operamini.
That being said, the dpi and viewing angles leave something to be desired for reading. My eyes actually start hurting a bit (especially in portrait mode with the weird (non)3D effect -- like it's confusing my brain or something.
I am well aware this is documented else where (I've been traveling around the site, and have even installed a few roms -- obviously a great development device with good community support) in comparisons between the NOOKcolor and the gtablet.
QUESTION: I'm not going to keep it because I'm not satisfied with it as an ereading (somewhat heavily) device, but I'm stuck with it for a while. Does anyone here have any suggestions for how to make reading more bearable in the meantime? I've been looking around, but haven't been able to find much.
On a side note, what I've really wanted to do is switch to a Dell Streak 5, but those are more expensive than both devices...

Upside down landscape is your best bet, oddly enough.
This is the exact reason i jumped the gtab. Massive headaches in portrait
Ill trade you a nook color for that gtab

What e-reader app are you using? I have noticed text quality variances and viewing angle improvement between different apps.
Assuming you are using the Nook app, what I have done is flip the device so the power button is on top in portrait. That angle, with mine works very well. Another think you can play with is the templates built into the nook app. I find the white on black works well for me, even though I end up returning to black on white to have the feel of a printed page.
The initial screen for the nook app will be upside down if but the book will open in the correct format so you don't have to read upside down.
So my father-in-law gave me an used/bricked tablet that apparently is a A13F9 (chinese, clone, no idea) and I managed to recover it with the firmware on the description of this video:
Tablet PC A13 Cortex A8 Android( Firmware )
My tablet looks like the one on the video. No back camera, only one at one front corner.
But the aspect ratio is messed up (by factory, I'm afraid). In landscape mode the circles are like smashed and in portrait mode there are stretched. You can notice it a little bit on the video.
Is there a solution for that?
I can't be 100% sure but it looks like a A13F9, 9 inches and I don't know eighter what rom is, or if it is official. it's MAPAN something, but I have tried a few and I always have the same problem. I'm 99% sure that the problem is there always, even with original FW and all that.
I think it's just the way the tablet is because it is so cheap and that.
But is there any correction?
I have tried an app called "Resolution Changer" but it only works for a few seconds, it resizes the display but after some seconds the "stock" aspect ratio comes back again n(the display is stretched but the AR remains the same).
Thanks.
Hello all,
I'm relatively new to android, but I've been playing with RemixOS trying to see if it would be a suitable replacement for Android x86 on various devices.
Right now, I'm using RemixOS on a 55" 4k touch display, running at 3840x2160 resolution, with a dpi setting of 160 (to make the OS readable/touchable reliably).
Here's the issue: in the middle of the screen, touch is spot-on accurate, but the closer I get to the horizontal edges, it skews a bit, until it is about a full inch off near the absolute edge. Changing the screen resolution and dpi settings seems to have no effect on touch. It seems as though the OS thinks that the touch area is a couple of inches larger than it actually is.
Does anyone know a fix for this particular issue?
Thanks!
been bashing my head against this problem all day, and I've made a few steps in the right direction: namely, I see what the issue is, but I have no idea how to go about fixing it. When I do a dumpsys display, I see that the resolution that the system is reporting for the monitor is 4096x2160, but that's not what it actually is - it's 3840x2160. This explains the offset touch around the horizontal edges of the screen, but I have no idea how to force the resolution for both the video and touch down to the right resolution. I've tried wm, which does work to correct the video, but has no effect on touch, and i've tried setting the resolution as a boot parameter, which does basically the same as wm.
I hope that makes sense, my brain is mush after today.
halp.
Hello folks,
.
I'd like to purchase a Sony z4 tablet for use as a car gps (among other things).
.
I owned a z3 Sony tablet for a while, it was a very good product except I could not use it with my *polarized* sunglasses in landscape mode, screen became invisible.
So I now have a galaxy tab s2 9.7, the super amoled screen is visible in both landscape and portrait modes with polarized sunglasses.
.
I'm considering the z4 tablet due to its 16/9 form factor, as opposed to 4/3 in use by Samsung on their tablets. However it's not available in stores where I live, can only order online from overseas, and there is no way I can try it first.
.
I'd be grateful if some of the current users of the z4 could try polarized sunglasses to see if it can be used normally in landscape mode.
.
.
Thanks in advance for your kind advice.
Hi aljazzair,
I can confirm that with the xperia Z4 tablet the screen is well displayed with polarized sunglasses (oakley flak 2.0) in landscape mode, and totaly black on portrait.
This is completly different with my xperia z3 phone (black in landscape and bright in portrait) which is not very useful when you activate the gps.
So I cracked my screen on my note 4 and bought a new note 4 off ebay it was a "for parts" one. But the screen looked fine so I took a chance I put my motherboard in and it seemed to work... but I noticed looming at any picture and video on it its ended up being really blurry...everything else looks fine like icons and whatnot. But yeah any media ducks bad and youtube won't eve. Let me put the video quality past 1080p... I got a bunch of screen checker apps and they all say the resolution is 1440 so I'm not sure what's up... the 's pen doesn't work rather which usually means that it's knockoff... but on the inside it still has that copper layer behind the screen that is for the s pen... also the cables and chip connected to the screen are identical to my regular not 4....it does not look fake...is there any chance that this is some software glitch or the plugs are dirty or something or does it seem like I got a knockoff screen. ..the whole phone looked brand new just hard to believe it's fake especially since all the markings and hardware seemed idental on both phones...I'm so confused.. plz halp meh...
