how to use?
Sent using XDA One
I can now unlock bootloader on my POCO X3 NFC. It is for Russian market and my current ROM is 12.0.3.0(QJGRUXM). According to manuals I've read, I'll have to flash International ROM V12.0.(3 or 4 or 5).0.QJGMIXM first, otherwise Wi-Fi and Bluetooth won't work.
I'm having difficulties selecting custom ROM. I hoped community could help me.
I'd like to have on my POCO X3 NFC:
MicroG or OpenGapps Pico.
AFWall+ (needs root)
AdAway (needs root)
AppOpsX (needs root)
F-Droid
Google Play Market
K-9 Mail
NewPipe
YouTube Vanced
KeePassDX
OpenKeyChain
I'd like to avoid installing SuperSU. I'd prefer Magisk.
I'll have to install banking software so SafetyNet checks must be passed OK.
Previously I've tried and liked LineageOS on my Mi 5s (capricorn).
I've watched on YT reviews of ArrowOS (looked like LineageOS to me) and RessurectionRemix (it seems to have intimidating quantity of customization options).
Considering above, which custom ROM you'd recommend for me to install?
Currently I'm looking at:
[ROM][10] LineageOS 17.1 (unofficial) [SURYA]KARNA]
[ROM] [11.0.0] ArrowOS POCO X3 [OFFICIAL][SURYA] - Vanilla build.
[ROM] ► [11.0] ► Nitrogen OS Beta
BTW, Android 10 or 11?
ArrowOS (Android 11) + F1xy kernel
You need to flash latest MIUI before flashing ArrowOS. You can download latest xiaomi.eu ROM and than flash ArrowOS to make it easier. Current latest MIUI version is 12.0.7 for surya & 12.0.8 for karna. You will have vanilla or gapps ArrowOS. Choose Gapps build. Install Magisk in TWRP after flashing ArrowOS & kernel. SafetyNet passes out of the box. seLinux is enforcing. Signature spoofing is supported.
So this are the steps for installing ArrowOS + F1xy kernel:
0. Unlock bootloader
1. Flash latest TWRP/OrangeFox recovery with fastboot command: fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery.img
2. Be sure that you're on latest MIUI version (MIUI 12.0.7 for surya, 12.0.8 for karna)
2a. If you're not on MIUI but on custom ROM at the moment, you need to flash latest xiaomi.eu ROM (12.0.7 at the moment) with TWRP/OrangeFox than Format Data, Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache
3. After you booted xiaomi.eu, reboot to TWRP/OrangeFox, Flash all this packages in order:
- ArrowOS
- F1xy custom kernel
- Magisk
4. Format Data, Wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache
5. Reboot.
Now you're on ArrowOS.
BTW, I prefer Aqua Mail to K9 Mail as it's much better optimized & has amazing features.
Thanks, @SkaboXD. Kind of. I specifically mentioned I want to avoid proprietary GApps. And assessing programs list one could tell that I prefer Free (as in Freedom) and OpenSource programs.
Also, I have very serious privacy and safety concerns installing custom kernel. I trust AOSP much more.

Than install Vanilla build of ArrowOS instead and flash Gapps you want (OpenGapps, NikGapps or FlameGapps...) and don't install F1xy kernel. You will miss on useful features & increased performance with good battery life though. And if you're concerned about privacy, why are you using Gapps in the first place?

Open Gapps is a different kind of animal. Unavoidable evil. But I want to decrease harm done to me.
If I was really concerned about privacy and health, I wouldn't use spying tracker cell phone at all.
If you're into privacy I *really* can recommend FairEmail ... you can also get releases from Github: https://github.com/M66B/FairEmail
Pretty much on the same boat as OP...
FYI, after trying a couple of the custom ROMs, I settled on Xiaomi.eu (currently v12.0.7.0 stable) for the time being and am waiting for PX3 LineageOS 17.1 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/4202533/) to become official -- and the MicroG build which will ensue and my preferred target ROM.
On the subject of GApps, I still want to retain access to the Google app store, I just want to avoid my device being colonized by the big G. Last I checked -- through ClassyShark3xodus -- no app required as many permissions as Google Play Services: way over 200, no less, seemingly every possible one!
Time will tell, I guess.

My experience with LineageOS with Open GApps Pico on Capricorn (Mi 5s) confirms that Google Play is working fine. All synchronization is working. All confirmations (you are trying to log in on other device: please check your phone) are working. Banking software is working.
I chose to wait for LineageOS with another custom ROM installed. I've decided to install ArrowOS. Maybe I'll stay on it.
For the history. I'll add benchmark data here as I move through ROMs.

Great.
Main reasons I settled on Xiaomi.eu is a) to retain the native camera app and b) because my work wifi requires a certificate I was unable to use on ArrowOS.

Hey there, I'm saving your mini guide to use on my Poco X3 when it arrives early next month.
However, let me ask you: is that rom really stable for a daily driver? I don't want to keep changing roms because of things breaking up like GPS, NFC, Banking apps etc.

Everything works. I don't use NFC, I just tried Android Beam with Nokia 808 Pureview and it didn't worked. Couldn't send the file with Poco X3 while i could send the file with Nokia 808 Pureview. However, that could be the incompatibility with Symbian. Didn't test it any further.

On 31.01.2021 I have installed ArrowOS. I used Orange Fox recovery. Contrary to all installation manuals, my very first boot into ArrowOS was like 30 seconds or less. And it was encrypted.
I've RTFM and installation went smooth and fast.
So far I like ArrowOS a lot. Sleek and fast. However, LineageOS seems to have more customization options.
And I can't make Text-to-Speech engine to work. I've already sent a bug report with LOG file to developers.
SELinux: Enforcing.

Banking apps work fine and so does NFC, I use contactless NFC payment almost on a daily basis.
Safety net passes right out of the box so banking apps will have no problem with it.
ArrowOS + stock ArrowOS kernel.
Hello I'm looking for a ROM without Gapps which allows me to pass SafetyNet check? Is that possible?
I have already tried crDroid, ArrowOS and StagOS.
Tried Universal SafetyNet Fix, MagiskHide Props Config, no success unfortunately, maybe I'm missing something or maybe it's not even possible to pass SafetyNet without Gapps.
Any help is appreciated.

Same kind of config, LOS unofficial works fine (except for the more advanced versions of bluetooth APTX codec).

LOS17.1 unofficial passes safetynet (method to use is described in first or third post of thread)
If only LOS (for microG) would already be official for the POCO X3 NFC, then the decision which way to go would be crystal clear to me!
But I have to decide now and I want OTA + signature spoofing (to be able to use microG instead of Gapps), which currently has set my mind on ArrowsOS for simplicity and stability.
Not having any experience with ArrowsOS yet, I don't know if I'm going to stick to it or will move over to LOS for microG once that one is officially available.
The main advantages of using LOS for microG are the included backup solution, call recorder and of course microG, which is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will give it a try, I tries LOS 18 without success.

no ROM with MicroG installed (in its current state) will pass safety net (and I tried really hard - no dice)
