Android 6.0? - MTCB Software Development

Android 6.0 TouchScreen Quad Core 2 Din 7" Universal Marshmallow Car Stereo DVD Player Support Fast-boot DVR OBD2 GPS Navigation
http://www.autopumpkin.com/android-...-64gb-usb-wifi-3g-steering-wheel-control.html
I believe it is different HW so it is not question if it can be used on our MTCB devices (even specs are the same - Quad core, 1GB RAM, 800x480, but I don't see it is RK3188 and strangely it says it is Cortex A7 CPU while RK3188 is A9, but it may be Chinese sloppiness as it may be A17 used in RK3288 which fits specs). Yet it may be ported possibly...
But...
Looks like completely new UI design, look at images of Radio, Music, EQ apps (I like it much more than existing KK/LL).
Anyone tried to extract these new apps and install / run on KK/LL?

The ad clearly says it uses an Allwinner cpu !
As its not an MTC head unit nothing will work as you say, but if you can find an update image then you could extract the apps and use the xmls on MTCB apps.

Overlooked Allwinner in ad. Thank you for pointing out.
Anyhow, I asked if anyone got apps extracted? I don't have ROM image nor want to waste time if someone already tried.

In another post, I found a file "VoiceCommand.xml" that seems to suggest voice command of the radio functions. AM, or FM etc..
Looks like if you are on AM and activate it, and say "FM" it looks to change.. here is the line from what ever to FM:
<SendBroadcast command="FM" keyword="change_band_to_fm" action="com.nwd.action.ACTION_KEY_VALUE" extra="extra_key_value" type="byte" value="72"/>
I think the "change_band_to_fm" is the reply and you can see the action and values..

Yes that fits in the picture. I guess than we are stuck with existing apps. Only thing I can imagine is that some deva may use bitmaps of these be gen apps and customise old ones with them. New design is better for my taste, looking more like built-in infotainment in some modern vehicles.

Its relatively easy to decompile the existing apps and use the xmls from the apps on this ROM or indeed make your own xml and recompile.

I tried apps, Radio, Launcher, Easy Connected.
Radio screen came up, nothing else, no freq or anything. I expected this..
Launcher... nope..
Easy Connected had only 2 choices, Android USB and Apple. This is newer than what we have now I guess.
I cleared my old easy data from the phone, hooked up, it started right up. faster than the older sw. It did connect until serial number stopped it.
What I understand from the pumpkin forums, the 1st release software will soon be updated because of some issues and some software promises.

Toshiba folio 100 users - general info

Dear Toshiba Folio 100 user.
I have created this thread to use it as a place it discuss all ideas, suggestions, problems, improvements about this device. In this way we can clean some of the general issues in the Dexter ROM thread.

Applications using the big screen ?
Looking for the best (screen usage) for email and calendar.
The email client in 1.0b is the default one for Android, looking at the email client in Samsung Tab its much better at using the big screen. Also the Folio is much better with white/light background as the "stock" email-client does not have.
Any pointer to a better app ?
The calendar app is much better and uses the screen much better.
Please write about your experiences with apps that works with big screens and works good on the Folio.

where do you find email client samsung???
Using Startup Manager, would it be possible to disable the phone service or would that result in a nuclear explosion or something like it? i mean, is android dependant on it one way or another, or would it be safe to disable it?
why foliomod ?
Hi to all
mhgonzalez great idea to create this "general" post.
I bought two folio for as Christmas gift, now they are hidden .. but, when I can, I do some test.
I never used android till now but I'm trying to understand why I should install foliomod. During my little usage I didn't find any bug, I only wasn't able to open a ebook (.epub) using the default reader (and I have put the file in the Books folder, anyway) but I suppose it's only because I need to improve my "knowledge".
But at the moment no bugs where find, all the apps installed work properly, wifi it's ok and, after I installed flash plug-in, browsing is ok too.
Not only but I was able to find the few app I saw googoling around the web.
What the folio mod make me able to do more than this ?

That is one of my frustrations. The current email.apk on the folio, as well as the calender, look pretty terrible. In email, I can't even scroll through the different emails, everytime I have to open a message, read, close and open the next. Even on the (rather basic) email.apk on the Galaxy S I have small arrows on top with which I can scroll through to the next or previous message. The Galaxy-TAB email.apk doesn't work (well) on the SGS either.
Also, Samsung have another email-client from com7, I'can;t get that version installed ( a specific Samsung version with great HTML-email-presentation, but alas, missing scroll-arrows also). I'll check the com7-site to see if they have a more general Android version of their email-app and come back on that one.
So if anyone has an other email.apk which works on the Folio, let me know.

Dear Kakkio.
Modding the most important in my case was to be able to download application from Android Market, reason why the Toshiba Market is a joke. It depend on what will you do with the Folio. If it is only to browse internet and reading book, dont mod. If you need more, I recomend to mod.
dear mhgonzalez

Mainly I'll use the tablet to read, listen music, watch video and browsing... but I like to "play" so, after a few, I'm sure I'll go to install foliomod...
In this moment I'm installing android emulator on my ubuntu in order to get a little bit more involved.

I quote a post from "pekka91166" from the dexter section because I think is perfect for this section ...
"...I agree with one of the earlier posts on Android (especially Tegra2) tablets versus others, including iPad.
If you're simpoly looking for a tablet which works and works very well, get yourself an iPad. And accept it's a pretty much closed OS.
If you're looking for a working Android tab, go for the SGT, although I'm not sure how well the TAB is working.
With all these tegra2 tablets, we're in for some disturbing months. Right now, these products all seem to suffer from pre-release firmwares which haven't been adapted well enough to the powerful (and partly cheap) hardwarechoices the various suppliers have chosen.
In the case of the Folio100, I knew very well I was buying a product with factory-default rubbish FW, but after reading Dexter's posts I figured it was worth trying, playing, failing and reinstalling.
All in all, I'm happy with the Folio, it's definitely NOT the product is should become, but pretty decent workeable and, last but nost least, FUN (and irritating at the same time).
I just hope Toshiba will, at some point, come with an acceptable FW AND that, in the meantime, Dexter and others will be able to cook some nice firmwares based on 2.2.
The Folio FEELS at some point very powerful, so the Tegra2 should be able to perform, but most of the times it seems lazy. For me a clear indication its the firmware of the machine. Unfortunately, it's a bit the same with a Galaxy S-phone. Powerhouse, but the firmware (2.2) is yet not there to unleash the full power.
Let's hope we'll get 2.3 running on our Tosh and that it supports dual-cores. I expect until then we'll have a nice (and often frustrating) toy to fiddle around with....."
why mod?
For me the big disappointment with the Folio was that none of the Google stuff worked and I expected this from a device with Android.
Dexter has fixed this with his mods and now i can see all my picassa pics in the Gallery, my contacts calendar and email all sync perfectly. Try Google maps with the street view addin and zoom down streets, spin around, it is the sort of app that the tablet excells at.
He has also fixed the Market and there are plenty that are free and work great like tunein radio, some are worth paying for like Bria if you want a good sip client.
I have gone for the v2 mod as it seems to fly, It is not perfect but it is 1000% better.
Others have found v1 mod better for their use. Dexter has made it easy to try them and roll back and has proved to be adept at fixing issues with easy to apply updates , he can also be stimulated with his Donate button, Early reports are that the other tablets arriving with Froyo are hardly better than stock Folio all crippled at birth. Anyway I am grinning. I had a Nokia N800, ****e at first but then the second os release brought it to life and included a cpu overclock. Some have said we are not using both cores properly so I am looking forward to the next Android even if we have to stimulate Dexter to make it work again
but after foliomod I'll found the original apps ? or I have to re-install them again ? or I'll found others ones ?
and if toshiba will create a FW upgrade I'll have to roll-back to the original state to install it?
sorry for the stupid questions

Some will be there and some better ones have been included plus you have acess to the market where you should find everything you need , this is a bit trial and error but people will hopefully post reports of apps that work well on the folio. Yes you would have to go back to stock rom to get the Tosh update. Hah lets see if that comes:
Hi!
Somehow I got stuck in the Foliomod V01...
When I'm in system recovery trying to upate to a later version I only get:
E:Can't mount DEFAULT_PATH
Finding update package
Opening update package
E:Can't open /sdcard/update.zip
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
Formatting MISC:...
When I choose: apply sdcard:update.zip
The same message pops up.
Anybody who has got an idea, how to fix this?
stuck
I would delete the update.zip and put a fresh one there, check on the pc that the zip opens and is not corrupt. Ian

Anybody know a way to use bluetooth for tethering, like it's possible with the archos tablets?
I've got 2 phones here wich are capable of making a dial up connection, but they are not as advanced as complete smart phones.
First is a LG GD510 POP and the second is a Samsung U600. Neither phone has a wlan connection, so it must be connected through bluetooth.
I can make a bluetooth connection with either of them and can send files and contact cards to them, but a tethering connection is not (yet) possible.
I know in the archos tablets, there is a possibility to tether, but in the folio (and mods) it's not.
Searching only delivers solutions, where the android device is the phone and a pc is the client or where a connection is made through wifi.

i dont there is any need to compare other hardware platforms..
the you could say Windows7 works fine with flash, but my android does not..
or my milestone works quite wll too, but still not same platform...
Best is put into accepting Toshiba/Nvidia is still work in progress, other major companies seems to plan using tegra2 and then we will for sure see much better support..
Toshiba released the folio100 too quick, comparing to Malata T2 which is still not out, as they realize its not in an acceptable state, although Nvidia is helping them to improve, they have yet to release their tablet and provide updates.

Hi,
I have just received this tablet and it sucks.
But I paid much money for it and it took a very long time for it to arrive, so I just want to give it a try.
It runs android 2.3.4, but it has no android market. I managed to install the Market APK, but to my surprise, there was no way to add a google account, so I can use the market. Anybody knows how to accomplish this?
Second, I want to root this sucker. I tried SuperOneClick 2.3.3, but when I put the device in debug mode and connect it to the pc, it does not search for drivers, even though I have the android SDK installed. Anybody???]
Plus, if anybody has this device too, please share your experiences and maybe one day we have a developer willing to make a ROM for it.
I also have just received this tablet, I am a bit disappointed too (for the display quality actually), but I am trying to understand what I can make out of it.
I installed some versions of Google Market (and also the GoogleServices) but its seems unable to connect with my account. Will search some more if I can find some way to have it working, this post was just to let you know that there is also somebody else in your situation.
As always, any suggestion/step forward shared is more than welcome.

allright, more users with this particular device.
Question, is the wifi on your's slow? My wifi is terrible. I can only get about 1mb/s a second. My router is a Linksys E4200 and my internet is cable 120mb/s.
It is slow with this frimware, the old firmware and the new (official firmware), no matter what.
Please share your thoughts.
My top speed is 1284 kbps with a line with 30mb/s very slow

Hi everybody,
Happy to find some users of this tablet. I'm really satisfied by this stuff. The 3D effect is nice and the performances barely good. I've put on the back a door hinge to create a kickstand
I rooted my device thanks to two little things : PdaNet to get a generic driver, then DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
@hyellow : Thank you very much ! Where did you get this rom ? I'm curious to know the modifications provides by this rom, and i would to follow his evolution

Thanks.
This rom is great, finally my Google account and better performances in the system and 3D player. 'm Waiting for the next version
Does anyone see in the 3D mode strange rainbow-like color effects? Is it a low-quality panel or is it my device that has problems?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
today all cheap panels 3d glasses-free are low quality with rainbow colors and duplicates.
Best view at 50cm distance with low tilt in the y axis, when you stop to see the rainbow effect is the optimal distance-tilt, best with a solid color foreground in the movie.
I got one 2 weeks ago from BRANDO.
I don't think it's expensive, the 200 $ get exact change to euros, so it's 160 euros with delivery included.
The hardware is Ok, not the best but quite reasonable. And the glasses free display really works with the included video and photo players. The screen is HD-ready resololution and the video works quite well with every format I have tried.
On the bad side: the screen gets scratched easyly just by using it. It comes with very little documentation in chinese and just a few apps installed and some more on the internal SD, included a chinesse market. The construction looks a bit cheap and the plastic back makes sounds when you catsh it.
Still haven't tried to root it, with the Android Market installed surely will get more from it. Does anyone know if there is a chance we could upgrade it to Honeycomb or Icecream?

yes, it has the 3d player. But make a backup of the 3d content (movies and pictures). because, that is not included.
Does anyone know if there is an SDK to activate 3D mode?
LG and HTC have them for their phones. I assumed this device only needed the image to be vertically interlaced, but it appears something needs to switch on for the parallax barrier to activate.
thanks

It might not make any difference, but i put it on the external sd card.
Be sure to extract the rar file and copy it to the sd card.

[App] GALA (SDVC) Speed dependant volume control (using GPS)

Did you guys ever notice the "GALA" function of your stock radios?
When you drive faster the volume is raised automagically.
I really love this feature and miss it here. BUT I am currently coding an App to fix this lack
I hope you are looking forward to this and so I have a Alpha Verison ready for you. But beware! it is not tested in live environment yet!!!
I will update this post with any new version or information.
Hint: GALA = german "Geschwindikeitsabhängige Lautstärkeanhebung" which means "Speed-sensitive volume increasement"

It is preinstalled on e.g. Malaysk ROM. I would recommend to use it as is is stabile and proven to work on our units.

Same question here.
I see the setting in the Malaysk ROM, but it's not quite clear what the numbers mean or what the reference units are. It'd be nice if there were further explanations.
I tried some settings. They are KPH values for each volume kick up or down. I did 40, 70, 100 and the volume goes up or down at those thresholds.
It was confusing for the default values.

Hi , the way, this discussion seems dead and the "Gala" application too. I'm looking for an app SDVC that increases volume based on speed on my PX5 android 6. Unfortunately Gala does not work on my unit like any other I've tried. I would like some developers to make an application for all Px5 MTCD or better yet updated " Gala" that supports MTCD Px5. I hope some genius will do it soon.
I am also (and many PX5 user too ) very interestest on a app like "RK3066 Headunit" or "S.D.V.C." (unfortunately Android 4.4/5.1.1 only) , which can provide Speed Depend Volume Change for Android 6 / PX5 users!
Come on Guys, i believe somebody can programming a small SDVC-tool - I would donate for it!
We hope that a developer will consider this request. Many Px5 users want it.
Do not you move a leaf for this? !!
Is anyone get this GALA function (increase volume from speed) i have PX3 with Malaysk 3.1 rom,but I not see MTC SERVICE in Malaysk rom,and I can't get this function to work in any way ???
I have created an app that does that https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.festinger.autovolume

...installed your app a few days ago - but can't figure out, how to set it up properly so that it works. is there even an option like a settings menu? all i can see, is the speedometer (working - means: the speed is shown) and the volume: recognizes the volume i set via volume-knob.. BUT: the volume does not change at all, no matter how fast or slow i drive... is there anything i can do?
how is this app supposed to work??
I've made an instruction video, see if it helps.

wow. thanks a lot for your work and uploading an explanation. but unfortunately this did not solve the problem. it seems, the app is not working on my head unit - it's a s32f0_leima, rk3368.
maybe your app is only for phones?!
i recorded a video of my last try with your app - i set the minimum volume to 8 and the max to 20 - for testing i set the speed between 10 and 120... your app is showing the speed, but the volume never changes - it only displays the current volume which i set via volume knob. it also recognizes, when i change the volume by myself via volumen knob - but the app unfortunately does not change the volume at all
...link to the recording: https://www.dropbox.com/s/d2nc5w0opc9i3de/VID-20230111-WA0000.mp4?dl=0
...any ideas? or maybe you can adapt the app for head units?! would be great!!
Sorry, you are correct, it won't work on head units, didn't work on mine either. Google doesn't think controlling volume from an app is needed there. https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/172344922?pli=1 .
volume control with buttonless MTCE
Hello all, So I purchased a buttonless PX5: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Android-8-0-2-Din-8-Inch-Car-DVD-Player-Stereo-System-For-Porsche-911-997/32849648099.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.qvQ36y However, none of the Android widgets or volume...

One of the users told me he could use FCC launcher and the auto volume there worked. I don't know how they managed to do it, you can try it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.speedfire.flycontrolcenter&hl=en&gl=US

[WIP][Xposed]GyroEmu-Accelerometer/Magnetometer fusion

Hello,
Lots of devices from low to mid-end range don't have gyroscope installed, and thanks to that have AR capabilities severely decrased.
I'm working on Xpose module that uses Accelerometer and Magnetic Field Sensor to simulate Gyroscope output.
Module works by creating new Sensor instance and injecting it into SystemSensorManager sensor list after its constructor, so getDefaultSensor(Sensor.TYPE_GYROSCOPE) will return it.
Module registers then SensorEventListeners for accel and magnet sensors and does it's calculations on accelerometers update and calls onSensorChanged of listener that uses it.
I'm still working on calculating velocities properly and getting good quality noise-free output. I did some progress on this but it still does not work as intended. (rotation directions seem correct, or maybe are swapped or inverted, but that can by easily fixed, problem is with values, which are simply wrong.) Testing it is a problem though, since I don't own any device with actual gyro, so I'll be gratefull for any feedback.
xda won't let me post normal link yet, so here is repo: https://github.com/Mourdraug/GyroEmu/
And here is apk: https://github.com/Mourdraug/GyroEmu/raw/master/app/GyroEmu_0.1.apk
Woah, i thought that was impossible. Continue bro, this'll be an interesting module..[emoji106]

Amazing bro
Sweet!
Tested it a little bit. Well, it's okay on my 1st gen. Moto G. Tried to create pano in Google Camera. Can move my phone only vertically. So no horizontal reaction at all.
Thanks for your work! Keep it going on!
Interesting!!!
Continue the good work.
good work…
keep continue .
Already such a module in repo

Guys, does anybody of you know if there is a site listing ALL sensors mounted on smartphones? On all sites I only find partial, approximate and untrustable informations about this topic.
Neat!
Great work man! This is definitely a great news for those low-end devices..
would be good for Moto X Play owners

Just use an app that reads your hardware so you are on the safe side
Kinscreen, an app to keep screen on by positions and other related screen-on/screen-off functions, original complained about lack of gyro. Upgraded version got around this, works like a charm. Might have done the same as this module.

Reviewing all Galaxy Gear S Custom ROMs. (Will update when i'll test more.)

This is all based on personal opinions and experiences. I mean no offense to any of the developers. None of this should be taken as an insult, because it's not intended to be.
Tizen:
- Stock: It's pretty much as you'd expect. Mostly useless without a phone, especially now when most services have stopped working. Installing .wgt files only works through SDB. There are a few useful ones, like a file manager, a pdf viewer, some games, Opera and a few others. Weather doesn't seem to be working anymore, neither does Here Maps. You also can't add contacts, which is quite frustrating, even in "standalone mode".' I've never tried to install a .tpk file, but i doubt it works, since nobody ever mentioned it working in all these years. Battery live never was good on this, like, in general. Barely holds a day.
- Standalone Tizen Rooted: I have never tested it. Afaik you can add and remove contacts. I don't know much more about it. The download link was removed. (If anyone has a link, please post it in the replies for archival purposes.)
Android 5.1.1:
- BlueMix: I've just installed it and at the first glance it's pretty good. It runs overall nice, has a different boot animation and bluetooth actually works (wireless headphones, sending and receiving files, connecting to phones and computers). It's generally fast but it has a rather weird lag when pulling down the quick pannel IF there is a bluetooth headset connected. There are way too many useless icons on the quick pannel also. Battery life is just as bad as on Tizen, as in if you're actually doing something, literally anything on it, you can see the percentage go down. But it's advertised as having better battery life than CM12.1, so idk. Could be better. Sound is fine, internet is fine, everything seems overall fine so far. Nothing to complain, except for the navbar not having the "hide" button (can't be added either), so i'll most likely install Ultimate Dynamic Navbar in the future and disable the stock navbar.
- CM12.1: I have never tested it. Will test soon-ish, when i'll have time.
Android 6.0.1:
- Android Wear: I have never tested it. Will test soon-ish, when i'll have time.
Kernels:
- Bluemix (06.07.2016): As i said above, everything seems to be fine. Smooth performance, whatever battery life. Cannot charge through the external battery from inside the cradle, only works plugged into a wall socket, but "x minutes until full" works perfectly, so that's a plus.
- CM12.1 (15.07.2016 "Broken Bluetooth-Vibration"): Haven't tested it and i don't think i will either.
- Custom (02.04.2018): Supposedly fixes everything, but haven't tested it yet. Will test soon-ish, when i'll have time.
well i have most of the custom versions of android 5.1 and the kernels files , for the android 6 too , tbh still the most stable version is bluemix , for the rooted stand alone version i didn't find it either no new links no new developpement :/ except am struggling with the battery barely holds a day i don't know how people managed to make it last more than six hours , if u have the bluemix kernel share it with me , i would share all the roms i have with u
i think the battery problem is bcz of kernel , kind of i have to find a stable one , i have two versions of kernel but none of them are good tbh since the battery just drop so fast , tried the cm12 kernel , the battery seems to be 100% then just drop to 40% or 5% or something like that in seconds
Hi! Do you still have the file to BlueMix? I can't seem to find any post for that. Thank you!
Hey Mrmeko, could you provide the file for the bluemix rom. Thank would be amazing. What guide should I use to install it? It's been very long time

You're welcome.
I added some other possibly useful things i had laying around in my Gear S folder and which i'm sure their other download links are dead.
Is there any possibility that you might have the Tizen Rooted ROM?

No, thanks though.
I mean, the links are still available. Downloaded all important versions right now, just in case they ever go down, i'll still have them archived.
Maybe you have some other rare ROMs? Like the MIUI for the original Galaxy Gear? Or some other ROM that nobody ever heard of for the Gear/Gear2/GearS?
