Hi there,
I have trouble finding this information on the web. I need to use an external microphone for shooting video with my phone. I've bought a ttrs->trs adapter which works well with iPhone and Samsung Galaxy S7, but not with my Z1.
Does anyone have this information ?
Nobody knows ?

Did it work by using usb microphone via otg? or normal mic via headphone jack? Because headphone jacks in mobiles are always combo for speaker and microphone.
i dont know what you are speaking exactly but there is a option in dev options for usb for audio.
Talking about the 3,5mm jack plug. There are 2 trrs types : CTIA and OMTP. They have ground and microphone interverted.
Lenovo Zuk Z1 is OMTP type. So if you buy a lavalier microphone for iPhone or Sammy S7 you'll need an adapter.
Now you k'ow.
Can you please provide link for that adapter...

Are you absolutely certain about this? It is my understanding, that only older phones use OMTP. I've been using the Apple Earbuds with the ZUK Z1 and it seemed to work just fine.

useful 3.5mm adapter
Hi guys,
I just bought a multifunctional adapter for my phone. This way, i can connect my Mogul to my sound system in my Smart Car. it's helpful. Here is the link from where I bought it:
http://www.moguldepot.com/htc-multifunction-audio-adapter/11A75A4401.htm
FYI, it seems to work for earspeaker; but, it doesn't seem to direct sound from loudspeaker applications.
If anyone know how to redirect loudspeaker to 3.5mm, let us know.

17 E?? for that tiny piece of cable? Excuse me, i don't want to buy a new phone. I think I'll just make an adaptor out of the headset. I'll remove the earbuds and attach a mother 3.5 stereo jack...

Try this
http://shop.brando.com.hk/3-5mm-earphone-adapter-handy-strap-htc-dopod_p02373c0413d001.html
The strap comes off and its a very neat solution if you dont want a mike.
USE Bluetooth
There are so many bluetooth stero headphones.
Much better. You can still take or make calls.
I have sony HBH-DS205. Works great. You can connect any other headphone or even connect to you home theatre systme (with one extra bit of connector).
£1.99
I got one off ebay from a chinese seller for £1.99 i was the only bidder and received it within about 15 days from china and works a treat.
EBAY
guys guys. Just go to ebay and you will get it very cheap. Why would you pay 5X more for same product made in same country.
Basically two good options, either use this:
http://shop.brando.com/htc-mini-usb-earphone-hand-free_p04126c0997d039.html
or somthing from ebay. I managed to pick up an adaptor for £0.99.

Works perfectly.
thanks in advance.
Mini USB to 3.5mm audio adaptor
I'm wondering is the Mini USB to 3.5mm audio adaptor for HTC Jade is something different as compare to any other phone.
As I bought one audio adaptor from local market, something similiar to one mentioned in below link. It is working for other LG and Samsung phone, but not with HTC Jade.
http://cgi.ebay.in/HTC-Audio-Adapte...QptZIN_Mobile_Accessories?hash=item27af84b4cb
Any idea why or what is missing? Please advice.
Thanks!!

i think the pin configuration is different.
I made one myself, I dismantled the original headset provided with the device and soldered a 3,5mm female jack on the pcb with the volume and mic.
works great

Hey Guys,
First of all, I'm not sure I'm posting under the right thread, please do let me know if it isn't!
I recently flashed Carbon 4.4.2 on a Xperia ray, and it is awesome :good: !
My issues are with audio. Connecting my headset (Sol Republic Master Tracks) without ANY audio playing, I hear periodic muffled thuds, almost as if the ray has a pulse
While playing audio, the sounds cease and am able to hear the music, but the quality is quite terrible.
The controls on this headset are made to work with iDevices, the volume controls do not work.I find that pressing and holding the call accept/disconnect button on the headset solves this issue!
The muffled sounds too are no more, with no audio and the button pressed. However, this is quite a nuisance as you can imagine!
I faced the same issue with LXP as well, had changed ROMs hoping to solve this, but in vain!
Thoughts!?
i am sure that the audio socket of your devices is incompatible to the audio jack of your headphones, you can try to use some audio jack with this

Ah, thank you for your input!
I've no idea what to look for, though. Is there a 3.5 mm to 3.5mm jack or something?
I'm still lost.
Anybody, anything?

No, no software problem. 2011 Xperias uses OMTP connector, while iDevices and others uses CTIA connector. CTIA is new standard, OMTP is old. You can buy OMTP > CTIA converter to use your headset. Check accessories thread for something similar

Hmmmm....the headphone you use is not compatible with the devices but it doesn't mean it will not work at all....just connect it slowly at the headphone jack port while playing a songs....do not push the jack to the end...it need to be like in this picture below....you will know when to stop pushing it when you hear the songs like it suppose to.....

Thanks a lot for your inputs, bro! Especially with the pics.
But I've tried it, no luck!
To my chagrin, my new Xiaomi Piston earbuds, likely the best value earbuds in recent memory, do not work with my Z2 because it (stupidly) uses the CTIA jack rather than the conventional jack. Can anyone recommend a set of earbuds with 3-button control that works with the Z2? Thanks!

You can still use your Xiaomi Piston earphones with Sony Xperia Z2. But you need a CTIA to OMTP adapter. Or you can press and hold mic button on Xiaomi Piston. Because that makes a short circuit and you can use it then. But the buttons won't work.
So, long story short, you need a CTIA to OMTP adapter.

Thanks. I know I can get audio functionality with the adapter but the buttons still won't work. I'm looking for a 3-button headset that is fully compatible with the Z2.

Xiaomi Piston is supposed to be fully compatible with the Z2, using CTIA to OMTP adapter. :good:

It's not true. The audio will work with the adapter, but the buttons are still largely useless. There's a Xiaomi Pistons thread over at Head Fi about the Pistons that goes into this.

May I ask where you bought them?
It seems very difficult to buy. But in terms of usefulness and compatibility with the XZ2 it seems perfect for me.
i got mine's from Amazon like 2 years ago,.. but yeah they're getting pretty hard to find now,.... Sony website say's its on backorder,...
there's a seller on Amazon (Blue Point) that still sells it but i think they only have a handful of the item

Really! I have piston 2 and really want to go ahead with the purchase but not sure If I would be able to use Z2! Are you sure?
Why don't you use Sony's earphone? Such as MH1C that has 4 button control or NC31EM for Noise Canceling.

Those may not be bundled with z2, Since pistons 2 are already that good, I want to use it instead.
my friend bought pistons in india from flipkart online shop and i have a z2 updated to latest version. and they worked perfectly fine with all the buttons working properly. when i bought earlier they were not working when i had 4.4.2 FW.
Simply install the app called soundabout to activate the output on the headphones.
This way you can use every headset you want.

I have the Xperia Z2 and my earphone model is the Sony MH EX300AP, although it sounds great, I cannot activate the noise cancelling feature built in. I understand that the this feature is only for the Sony MDR-NC31E , but is there anyway to get it for my earphones or is the feature only for the Sony MDR-NC31E?

The NC headphones are the only ones with the hardware capable of digital noise canceling
hence why it ONLY works with them
Yeah it wont work with any thing different until Sony releases a new pair.
