How can i get a page for a certain device? theres a few posts on xda from my device, and some for development, i My device has development, just got root ported twrp 2.8 and twrp 3.0, but theres no page/forum, it all in a post and in a mess how can we get a page for creating threads for the specific device? im using the Predator 8 and would be much easier for people to find everything related to development of this device, but its very hard if its all in 1 post...

I'm very sorry to ask this, but I'm searching and searching and most of the threads with rom's just don't explain anything. The just say "there are plenty of post explaining this". But how can people try something, if in the thread of the ROM avoid explanations, how can we move foward in DEV the nook tablet when the whole organization of this part of the forum is lacking a lot of "how to's"
I'm not the most knowledged android user, but after 3 devices, all of them rooted and with custom roms it's hard to come to the nook tablet forum and not being able to do much,
If someone could point me out in the right direction I would appreciate and then the admin can close this thread.
Cheers

You can find the guide here: http://iamafanof.wordpress.com/2012/08/19/updated-for-files-cm9cm10-bootable-sdcard-on-nook-tablet/
HOX+ is my first android phone after few iOS devices and im kinda lost in all these instructions which should be done before actual flash. Dunno how to unlock device, make custom recovery nor flash boot.img. Im looking for some basic guide with simple instructions do this do that. Think im not only one here in this situation, so please if there is someone willing to help, could you make some basic guide...
there's a thread which uses an app (ALL in ONE app)
that teaches you how to
unlock the bootloader
installer recovery
give your phone root
for the actual rom, go to the ROM's thread for specific instructions.

Hi guys,
Im really new to android and linux, yet i want to install ubuntu on my device.
I got it as a gift and would like to make it a netbook like.
Anyway, as far as i know i have the latest JB bootloader, unlocked, also i have the hairybean rom, and OCed to 1.7Ghz, I also have TWRP recovery...
Now, i saw this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603921k i understood that it installs ubuntu on my device completely, without any need of VNC.
Yet the thread is a bit outdated i guess, from reading a bit i ubderstood that the sound has been fixed, and they had worked on a whole new kernel to fix everything up...
Now, can please somebody guide me, and give me the newest files (kernel and OS)?
Thanks alot and sorry for being such a noob!!
PS any way to install the OS directly on the SSD, and not on an external SD, also, anyway to remove android (if ubuntu is stable enough?)
Come on people, 90 views and no replies?
100 views and no replies?
Can someone atleast put this thread in the Ubuntu installation how-to, so people can refer to this thread and help me?

Dude you seriously need to chill out. Ubuntu is not officially running yet, It is only out on the Nexus devices and their kernels, file systems, boot loaders, etc... are apples to oranges compared to the prime. It is still in heavy development in trying to make it so it actually runs smooth and dual boots android. The developers in the Ubuntu thread have been busting their ass to make it happen and there are multiple developers working together to get to happen. There are still a whole bunch of bugs that need to be worked out. I have been following the thread from day 1 so you can do the same here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603921. By saying you are new to linux/ubuntu then I would sit back for a bit and follow the tread before you brick your tablet. Things seem like they are going very well in the thread so sit back and read 60+ pages of posts to catch up and have a coke and a smile.
Hi,
I'm fairly new to android (recent iOS convert) and playing with roms, I got an international samsung galaxy s3 i9300 which was already rooted and I put the Smartisan OS on to it. After playing with it for a while, it's good but a little buggy in it's pre-alpha state, I'd like to put standard android 4.2 (not the samsung stock software) onto the device.
Would anyone be kind enough to tell me or point me in the right direction to do this please? I've googled and can find people rooting the device or putting other ROMs onto it but nothing that tells me how to put standard android 4.2 on it from the Smartisan OS it's on now.
Many thanks in advance for any help
Best,
Greg
Just flash an aosp zip via recovery and do a factory reset

thanks but I don't really know exactly what that means to be honest
Where do I get an aosp zip from and how do I flash it?
Best
Greg
This is what the guides and FAQs are for in general

I thought I made it obvious that I wasn't able to find what I needed in there....
Nope. You didnt mention "general" at all. You said you googled. Look in "General" - important stuff is stuck at the top.
Or follow the link a moderator posted to you in your duplicate thread.
We wont spoon feed you.
Or see the sticky fas and guides .
Any user who cannot find the basics and has not read them should flash nothing .
Saves bricking your phone through ignorance is why .

I'm just asking for a bit of help, a link to something relevant, is that unreasonable to you? I thought this was a help forum.
I've looked and looked and can't find anything on installing pure android from the smartisan OS
Lots about rooting and lots about installing new roms, nothing about simply putting android 4.2 onto it... Do I just need to root it? (mine came rooted with omega on it so I don't know if simply rooting would do the job)
It's probably just the correct terminology that I need to know, is all.

No its a developers forum and users get tired of the same questions day after day .
Lots about rooting and lots about installing new roms, nothing about simply putting android 4.2 onto it...
Root does not put on a rom .

Well.. I want to post some questions in development section. But there is this rule saying you need to be experienced, having at least 10 posts in general forums. This is getting troublesome for me. I learned a lot about custom recoveries and roms and flashing them, bricking and unbricking by searching in here. And now I want to ask some more advanced questions but I can not. I don't think by making 10 posts, you become a developer, and I also don't think it is legit to think a new user is a newbie. That's my take, what do you guys think?? PS - I created this thread for increasing my post count.. PPS - I have a Xperia U running CM11, haved used numerous custom roms with flashtool. I have a LENOVO A6000 plus running CM12.1 right now. It's my usual practice deleting system apps and putting other apps in system partition. Does this not qualify me for posting in development forum??
