Hello,
Does anyone know how to root ASUS 3s 10(Z500m)?
I tried method of Kingoroot and Framaroot but I couldn't.
Please give me some advice.
Specs
OS:Android 6.0
CPU:MediaTek MT8176
If you already tried all rooting programs its not possible to root without TWRP or any other custom recovery.
But you didn't tried "all". Just keep trying.

Have you tried Towelroot? I've had success with it in the past with another Asus Tablet. If you have done any software updates to it already you may be SOL , not positive though. I just received mine today and as soon as I'm out of work I'm going to get started on it, I'll let you know if I have any luck

Did you get your tabled rooted?
No dice =-(
Ended up doing an OTA update that I couldn't stop from pushing through. Still searching around for something that works, I just hope I'm not too late. I absolutely love this tablet.. For the performance , build quality, and price, this thing can't be beat. Samsung and Huawei had a couple of decent tablets in the same price range but they looked and felt "cheap" to me. Unlike my HTC 10, I don't think I will lose any sleep if it never gets rooted but I certainly wouldn't mind a custom ROM on this thing
Rooting Z500M
I very much hope someone responds favorably to rooting the Z500M.
I have seen several websites that offer instruction on how to do it. I posted links to some of those pages that offered solutions, but when I did my post was deleted and I was accused of some nonsense from the head of the forum.
I have also seen a site that gives a tutorial on loading Nougat to the Z500M, I would share it but I don't want to get criticized again.
In that meantime, will Asus ever have a upgrade for Android Nougat, at least to 6.01, which had been out for quite a while and I use on my Asus built Nexus 7(2013).
I really want to root and install Adaway to manage all the ads.
Thanks
Jon

I would appreciate that very much as well.
The z500m looks like a very good android device but unfortunately I would like to be able to root it before I buy it.
If anyone knows a way to achieve this I would really appreciate that.
Thanks to all. I have had the ZenPad Z500M for about two months and it is a fantastic Tablet, especially for the price.
I am waiting to read from someone who has successfully rooted it. I have read several posts around the web with methods that "should" work, but no comments from anyone who has successfully done it.
I also am waiting for an upgrade to Android 7, Nougat. After signing a petition for Asus to allow upgrades to Nougat and several tech emails and calls, Asus tech support says it will happen.. When?
I would very much like to root it, use Adaway and a custom ROM if I need to.
Thanks,
Jon
i got the nougat update for this tablet about a month ago. android 7.0.

There is no known root exploit working on the Z667T yet.
Someone needs to go through all the modstring variants on towelroot for it but if the rom build was made after June 3rd it will never work.
Other thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/-t2936545
Where would be the best section to post so a dev would see this? I'm sure we can get a bounty going.
First ask for a ZTE Zinger forum, ask on the new devices page there you post a request for a new device, I will also post a request for a new device, I really am surprised at how well the ZINGER works for how cheap it is, Target is having a black Friday sale for 9.99 on the phone, but it's locked to brightwater or some off mobile company. If we could get some devs to unlock it, it's a very good dual core 1.2 ghz and I bet it could be overclocked if we get it rooted, there is a funny screen you can get to by pressing up and power menu might be a,boot loader or exploit we can get in there, or the recovery is volume down and power. It has developers and sub debugging so with some help I bet we could see it rooted and unlocked
I just got one with a coupon for 8$... I got it unlocked by generating the code via IMEI... however I can't root this damn thing.
All the exploits I've tried fail. If anyone would like to try some remote rooting/dumping I can setup an ADB SSH server.
These devices are dual core and QUICK so it would be a waste not to have root. Even the stupid cheap Net10 LGL androids have root.
Thanks
How do we get some devs interested? We already have a bounty going in the other thread. I don't have any I'm not using, if I can find another for $10 I'd gladly send it to someone with the skill to try and root it.
" I just got one with a coupon for 8$... I got it unlocked by generating the code via IMEI... however I can't root this damn thing. "
How did you swing that deal?
I need root for this too Z667T
Just got this little phone and I like it. Very impressed, when was it released??
this is the only info I've found on any of the forums regarding rooting it.
Power + Vol UP = recovery <---it allows an adb sideload update process. Kinda neat.
Power + Vol Down = some sort of firmware thing??? Screen says "FTM"

How did you unlock "by generating the code via IMEI"?
I love this little phone but I don't think any dev wants to touch it.
It's sad because I remember owning the TMobile Comet (Huawei U8250?) and it came with Froyo and it was put on CM version of ICS.
Ah well.
At least it's stock Kitkat (give or take that stupid Amazon app.)

Why do you say that?
I don't know. I've been around the block a time or two, I've seen unexpected suprises with low-end devices getting a lot of support from the great devs out there. I've seen some high end devices not get touched ever, ie The LG Revolution.
Just a bad feeling I guess. Perhaps I'm jumping the gun because this phone is still so new.
IT seems it's always my luck that when I get a phone, something is always in the way....in this case I read that ZTE has tried something new and locked it down so tight as to make it difficult if not impossible to get past the bootloader (?) to get to the nitty gritty. No know methods work...I've tried them all (along with folks at other forums.)
Patience I must have now.
From what I've read from other owners is that the phone as it is is wonderful. Vanilla (almost) Kitkat...but root could give us the opportunity to get Xposed involved in improving it overall....not tot mention a shot at a CM build in the future.
As I posted here, our best bet in the short term until a real developer shows up is to get ahold of the at&t version of this phone which is physically identical but has Android 4.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gen...ndroid-gsm-t2936545/post57227556#post57227556
that at&t 4.3 version hopefully will be rootable and then the firmware can be backed up and then flashed to these phones
it would be downgrade from kitkat to jellybean until a new root method for kitkat is found but I would happily give up 4.4 for 4.3 temporarily to get real control over the phone
I'm just trying to find the at&t version for less than $50 somewhere, it doesn't appear to be sold in stores, only online at at&t and cricket (at&t owns cricket)
developer volunteering to help root, someone needs to step up asap:

I have one of this too. It isn't a quick. 1.2 Ghz is slow. I only have it as a back up. It's really a piece of **** phone. But for $40 with no contract it's worth it. I'll be messing with breaking the security tonight.

Nothing I've seen been looking my self. I've tried a few to no avail. Framaroot, kingo root, towelroot, none of which work.
I also need to root this device. Kitkat is really a pain. SD card is really useless with it. Root can only save my tablet from being tossed. Anyone have discovered root?
Nothing yet! We must wait! XDA is the only i trust from the past!!! For rooting and for they apps for rooted phones and tamplets!
Unfortunately this tab can't be rooted as of now, Tested "King ROOT & One Click". both didn't work, But to be fair let's give it a bit more time for the developers to put on attention, this tab has potential

I agree, but for now let's cross our fingers, anyways if things won't go well for our tabs, then it's high time to sell it or have it as a portable media tablet for movies and so on... I have been trying to find a root method that will work on my AT&T LG G Vista 2 H740. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Yeah this affordable and very capable device seems to have been overlooked. It runs 5.1.1 and would be an awesome root and ROM project.
Bump
Anything yet? I received my lg g vista 2 in the mail and was excited to go on xda to root it. Nothing yet?
I believe I've found a couple exploits that I could take advantage of. I'll update every couple days or so on my progress. I've been messing around on my Vista 2 and it seems like a fun and simple enough project. I'll be back with updates!

Bump on this thread. Nobody is noticing because nobody cares about this handset. This unit is most likely exploitable by anything that works on the G3. I am desperate to get root because I am sick of the random reboots. Any brave souls want to try the G3 exploits?
I'm going to necro this because I think plenty of people still want to see a root method for this phone.
Guys I have a question. What is the code you put in the dialer for the hidden menu? I know this thing is very capable but at the moment my LG G2 beat this thing out of the water. even though this thing has better specs than the G2,why is it lagging so much? any help would be appreciated as I just got this and if it is a POS, I can return it within 12 days regards, ~Sky
I'm gonna refer to earlier suggestion to try kingroot.
It will likely work in rooting the Vista 2.
Believe it or not, kingroot didn't work :/ I tried it like 3 times and they all fail
I've tried King Root multiple times without any luck. I really wish someone would find an exploit for this phone. If you could clean all the bloatware off, it would help it out tremendously. And without thinking the other day, I installed the Marshmallow update, so I'm sure it's going to take a little while to find an exploit for it.
Yes I'm hoping someone comes up with an exploit soon. I really want this phone to have a cpu control app because I know it has the potential to be fast but the cpu won't allow it. Also I'd really like to have the lucky patcher work. If ANYONE has an exploit, please post it here. How do we get this thread more noticed on XDA?
I will pay money for Root and Cyanogen Mod-G Vista 2
Currently using the AT&T LG G Vista 2 and the phone would be fantastic with Cyanogen Mod so anyone want to take this on and I will send you via PayPal $50.00 to get it rooted and working with Cyanogen Mod. Anyone else care to add to that so we can make it worthwhile for a good DEV???
Bump

We're you ever successful in any of the exploits you tried to root the LG G Vista 2? I'm just wondering because I have been looking for almost a month for ANYTHING on the subject only to have no luck.
Kingroot, as well as Kingo root, iRoot, One-Click Root, root genius, and any of the other One-Click apk's, as well as their companion PC Software's, do NOT thus far. And if anyone knows where to get the original firmware of the LG G Vista 2, which is the Android 5.1.1 version, it would be greatly appreciated! I have searched hi and low, and have yet to find it.

I cannot find the firmware either, and if anyone knows how to root it, I would love it :3 I'm literally putting my G Vista 2 aside because it's useless without root tbh. I'm on my G2 with CM but it's falling apart -_- so yeah
I didn't some research. It seems I have to unlock the bootloader first. Which means I need a code. And I have to buy a code from here?

Does this still work? The guide is over a year old.

Yes but you need to downgrade the firmware (<8.0.0.136 or similar, i cannot remember exactly) . Because they have fixed, with latest versions, a backdoor used by dc-unlocker to get the bootloader code.
Cheers

Hmm. This is interesting. I actually haven't opened it yet. It's still sealed in the box. Just in case I had to return it. So there's a chance that it could be at a low enough firmware.
I remember i get the code with the 8.0.0.86 firmware, but check the right thread (here) to find the last one to get the code.

If you read the forum, the correct item is number 40 "Read Unlock Codes for Huawei Hisilicon Kirin Android phones".

I just opened it. And it says that my build number is SHT-W09 8.0.0.173 (C567)
So I'm guessing this means it has to be downgraded.
I ended up getting rid of my M3 and never upgraded to an M5 because of not being able to root or root easily. I ended up running the M3 stock for a while and it was a great tablet, but with all the US bans and back doors to your info from Huawei, I got rid of the M3 and had to move to an iPad mini 5. I would have loved a mini pro version, but this will work for now. I liked the media aspect of the M3 and M5, but all the security issues and lack of root I couldn’t do it anymore. Not to mention there isn’t much other there that are good 8” tablets on the market.

... especially because the iPad is so easy to root ...?
we all know jail breaking an iPad isn’t easy, if it is even possible anymore. Most of the reasons to root an android have better applications than a jailbreak on iOS. I like android tablets a lot more than iOS, but the 8” tablet sector isn’t great anymore. Last great one was the Samsung tab s 8.4 that I thought hit all the marks. I’m just saying I like the M3 and wanted to get an m5 but there are way too many negatives to that brand and tablet now.
This is probably the most desperate post i've made on XDA. I'm not entirely sure if I'm following the forum rules, so I'm sorry if this violates any.
I've got an Optimus L9, model P769BKGO, manufactured March 22nd, 2013. My current understanding is if I have an L9 that was manufactured after June of the same year, the bootloader is encrypted, preventing me from unlocking it. I did work on the phone a while back, and found that it's running the P760's V10b Europe firmware. The bootloader appears to be set up properly, the screen is inverted and "flipped" horizontally as it's supposed to be according to all the tutorials i could find. There's only one problem I'm coming across.
The next step I can find is to flash the radio and connect to mobile data, leaving it connected for 30 minutes or more. I've tried to flash the radio, and it hasn't fixed the modem issues that comes with flashing the firmware to V10b EO. I have an active SIM in it as i'm supposed to, but I can't flash it to another firmware to restart the process because if I do, I have no working links for any of the tools/firmwares I need. They all either pull up a 404 or just don't exist, for example the "All in One" MEGA links in the more popular bootloader unlocking threads.
The Optimus L9 forum has been noticably dead for a while now, but i don't see any better place to seek help. Hopefully someone here can lend me a hand in finding the firmware versions I need to get this done.
If I have learned anything from xda-developers since 2004 when I got my first Windows Mobile smartphone: yes. it IS possible. And MORESO., where there is a will, there is a way.
That said, I've got a couple LG-P769's I'd like to root, so if I dig anything up that works, I'll let you know. Otherwise, my skills as a developer do not extend to reverse engineering (especially encrypted(!)) bootloaders. Creating a custom ROM is more up my alley, and something I may do if we find it is necessary

I wish I saw this sooner, but I think I can help you out with rooting them. There's something called LGPwn that you might find useful. If it works for you, it'll work well. There's also this one recovery installer that I use, although it's not very up to date... nonetheless, it works too. If I have any custom roms laying around that have dead links, I'll do my best to supply them just in case (since devhost isn't a thing anymore, almost all links here are dead).
Best of luck

While I don't want to jack this thread, I wanted to comment that LGPwn worked well for me and thanks for the links. I am a bit new to all of this, and I couldn't seem to find any ROMS that would work with the old phone newer than andriod 5.1 - thus also taking the chance here to ask given your already very neat help, if, unlike what I believe - I can use ROMS not made for the phone?

I'm suuuuper late on replying to this (I don't mind the bump though), you can use ROMs developed for the p760 as well, although I can't say I'm on familiar territory anymore. My L9 is in the drawer now, since I can't find a way to properly unlock the bootloader. They say there's supposed to be special software available, but that software has since been wiped off the net.
Regardless, I hope that helps.
