Hi, I recently purchased an international phone LG G5 online claimed to be LTE compatible. When i inserted my SIM, it does not connect to Verizon when it should have. I have Verizon Prepaid service though if that make a difference. When i bring this phone to Verizon retail store, representative told me that they are unable to assist me as this phone is not directly from their company. Should i go back to a different Verizon retail store and see if i can get another SIM set up? What can i do? Please help. Thank you!

Which model did you get? I don't think the international models have support for CDMA. Verizon, Sprint and US Cellular are all carriers that use CDMA.

Hi,
I am looking to get a S4 but can someone help me to confirm the following if you have a VZW S4 in your hand?
a). Does VZW S4 takes GSM SIM? Do I need to unlock it before I insert ATT/TMO SIM?
b.) If a is true, then can someone try to put a ATT LTE SIM and see if it picks up ATT LTE?
c.) If a is true, then can someone try to put a TMO LTE SIM and see if it picks up TMO AWS LTE?
d.) Can you check this hidden menu? *#2263# and check all the frequency there?
why I am asking those?
I am living near US border and carry two phones is a problem to me, and TMO GS4 is a 5band HSPA + 5band LTE phone, curious the VZW GS4 could be also multi-band Phone that works across the whole north america (well, maybe some nvram edits need to be done but still~)
I paid full retail for my vzw galaxy s4.
will work over seas - will not work on another domestic carrier. Verizon states it won't work at all between US carriers. They claimed there is no process that can be done on the phone to "carrier unlock" it.
A) it takes a micro sim.. I would think they'd fit. The verizon rep I just talked to said another customer tried this and the phone came up with "please insert a valid sim"
B / C ) I can't answer.
D) that didn't do anything on my phone.

Are those places (sites) that you pay to unlock your phone legit? Is it possible to unlock the Verizon version of the G6 so I can use it on T-Mobile or does the Verizon G6 not have the proper bands support?

Verizon doesn't lock their LTE phones. You should be able to drop a SIM card in it and have it work.
I don't know about all the LTE bands though.
I'm on Verizon. Seems everyone I had would work on most carriers out of the box. I had S7 Edge (Verizon) worked on a few different prepaid Sims. I also added a new phone for me and put a dif sim in my old LG Stylus and sent to my son in Boise. And put old sim in my LG G6 and it worked (cause I needed old number in new phone and new SIM went in older phone.
Hopefully that made since haha.
Just remember that the phone/SIM must be in good standing or you will have problems sometimes when activating on major companies. Unless its prepaid SIM you can pop a new one in that's already activated.

I'll have a chance to buy new Verizon LG G6 for cheap, but I'm on AT&T network. Just want to confirm before pull the trigger, do I need a Verizon SIM to activate the phone first then swap with AT&T SIM, or just put in the AT&T SIM would be fine? Thanks in advance!
Put the att sim in, during setup connect to WiFi. After setup input apn settings. Restart the phone. The phone may occasionally inform you that the inserted sim is not a VZW sim. I think that will go away after you disable all the VZW apps.
I have tried different sims but does not recognize the sim. Only recognizes verizon sim. I'm not a verizon customer and where I am at we don't have verzion.
any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Update: Working now. Sim card readers were bent.

I'm sorry but where I live don't have Tmobile or Atnt. I was getting 4g LTE with my carrier.
Was having an issue with the phone losing signal when in poor reception area. Do I need ATT to activate phone with imei of xz1 or in order to get LTE do I need to have a previous att branded phones imei on the sim card? Is there any ATT bands this phone doesn't support? Just don't know why phone says no service when it is in a bad reception area. My iPhone 8 works perfect in the same areas.
Use an IMEI of a LTE AT&T phone if possible. If you give AT&T the IMEI of this phone it won't be in their database and it will be provisioned as a 3G device at best.
Do you have any issues with it losing a connection when there is poor cell phone reception?
****, this phone isn't functioning with AT&T LTE? That's a problem... Can anyone else confirm?
I have AT&T. When I got the phone I called them, gave them the IMEI and they did whatever they need to do and my phone works with LTE.
I had previously contacted their technical support before getting this phone to verify that band 12 would work as well.

Log into your AT&T account online and see what they have for a device for your number. It works fine on AT&T LTE but I have had issues for years when giving them the IMEI of my Sony phones. Maybe they have joined us in the 21st century.
So, from what I have been reading online and asking my IRL friends, it seems like AT&T doesn't exactly let devices that aren't sold by the carrier automatically have provisioning for LTE and LTE+. You have to call them.
Only negative in general is that VoLTE and Wi-Fi Calling cannot be enabled as a company policy at this time on phones not directly sold by the carrier. Even the Google Pixel 2 can't get VoLTE on AT&T.
...Anyway, solution so far is to call AT&T via 611 or from another line at (800) 331-0500 and ask to "Activate my SIM"... And then ask for an agent. You'll need to give them the IMEI of your phone.
Only then, after you reboot your device, will your phone be provisioned for LTE.
Is this all correct??
I haven't had success giving them my Sony IMEI. I have a carrier version LG V30 and when I bought it, AT&T gave me a new sim. I pulled it and put it in my XZ1 and I have LTE.
As augie7107 mentioned, the trick seems to be getting an IMEI of an AT&T phone attached to your account and sim and you can get LTE on other non-branded phones. The sim I've been using has been the same one I've had since a launch day AT&T iPhone 6. I've used the sim in a number of unlocked Android and Windows phones without major issues: Nokia 925, Moto X Pure, Amazon Fire phone, Nokia 930 (no LTE), Nexus 6p, Axon 7, Xperia XZ, XZs, XZ1, and now an Essential PH-1.

What did the AT&T agents say when they wouldn't activate LTE?
When I received my XZ1c last week, data would not work at all - LTE or 3G.
After playing around with settings for an evening, I chatted with the AT&T service rep first thing the next day and he was happy to enable LTE using the Sony IMEI. I don't know if it depends on customer service agent, or if there is a policy difference, or what.
I contacted Sprint to activate my unlocked T-Mo s9+ but they were not able to do so online and at the store.
Like the S8+ this phone has the CDMA bands for activation on Sprint. Any one else encounter this issue?

Yes the rep at the store gave me one too but could not add the device to the Sprint database. A ticket had to be created so they could try to add it.
In my experience only the Verizon and Sprint branded phones unlocked will work with any carrier. Generally the AT&T and Tmobile phones only have GSM radios so they won't work on Sprint.
Were you able to resolve this issue ?
Hey were you able to resolve this issue ?
I have the sake problem right now
My t mobile S9 + won't work with sprint ?
Can you guide me please on how I can fix that
Hello all. I have an LG V30 unlocked from AT&T. I am currently in the market for some different phone service. I was looking to switch to T-Mobile. However, when I went to their BYOD Check Compatibility page and typed in my IMEI, it said my device was not compatible. Will I still be able to use T-Mobile, just miss out on a few features, or is it no use to try and get T-Mobile service? I have checked that my phone supports all of T-Mobile's bands save for band 71. I figured all I needed was a GSM device and a new SIM card. Am I unable to switch to T-Mobile, can I switch with limited features, or does it operate at full support on T-Mobile, just an error with the website? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your AT&T H931 phone is actually carrier unlocked, it will work with U.S. T-Mobile.

Thank you for your quick response. I will probably see if I can switch to T-Mobile now. I am still curious though. Why would T-mobile still register my device incompatible? Is it an error with my IMEI or the unlock? Is it something on T-Mobile's end?

AT&T H931 is normally carrier locked to AT&T. So, normally it won't work on any SIM card not affiliated with AT&T. T-Mobile knows that. However, you say it's now carrier unlocked. But there's no way for them to know that, just by the IMEI.

That makes more sense now. I can confirm that my phone is unlocked because I have actually used it with T-Mobile MVNOs in the past. I just didn't know if a full blown T-Mobile card would work in it, being scared of the website check and all. You've helped me to clear all this up and I can't thank you enough.
