TWRP for Kate - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Never mind, I flashed Alka TWRP
I unlocked my Redmi Note 3 Pro (Kate) today and wanted to flash TWRP. However I could only find links to TWRP for Kenzo. Could anyone help me with this?
Thanks

Use Alka its perfectly working in kate. Don't forget to flash Lazy Flasher.

What is lazy flasher..?
Also, just FYI, the stock TWRP for Kenzo doesn't play nice with the internal storage on kate - files copied over in TWRP are not able to be modified in any way in Android even with root.

Just flash that it, if you're in MIUI rom....! :good: there is no interface but you can see an option in TWRP recovery setting (below).

Sorry for bothering You...
Just to be clear.
First I have to flash TWRP3_Kenzo via ADB?
Then I have to install Alka via TWRP3 interface?
And then I have to install Lazy Flasher again via TWRP3 interface?
Is it OK or Not?
But what if I can not see internal storage, because it is encrypted? Do I have to use external USB flash drive for Alka and Lazy zips???
Thanks

Yeah keep going.. in case if you cant see internal storage then flash ZCX recovery (install image) from your sd card or usb flash & then flash lazy. This recovery is good for MiUi rom user you can use ota update.

Hi there, I've been reading a lot of post recommending ALKA TWRP but they were old (from may or june).
Then (post from august) I've read that Alka + miui with MM results in phone bricked.
And nobody said anything about LazyFlasher.
I'm running MIUI 8.1.1.0 Global Estable (Android 6.0.1)with officialy unlocked bootloader, will Alka be ok to flash?
What's the reason to flash lazy flasher? Thanks in advance.

I dont know about these post, i flashed 2 month ago....
They didn't flashed lazy flasher thats why maybe phone bricked... Just flash Alka after unlocking bootloader then lazy flasher then reboot. Thats it.

Firstly you need to officially unlocked the bootloader then Fellow the instruction to flash twrp: http://en.miui.com/thread-296053-1-1.html, after that changed to alka twrp for flashing official miui rom, root and installed exposed framework by solarwarez.

redmi note 3 from cm13 to miui 8!!!

HI! I am using the redmi note 3 snapdragon variant, and i have unlocked my bootloader unofficially and curretly using cm13 rom.
I want to swith back to stock miui rom,i.e miui 8 ,bt i read that directly flashing the rom will relock my bootloader and brick my phone.I have lazy patcher and twrp installed in my phone. How to switch back to stock rom without relocking my bootloader since root access is very imp. for me.
Thank you.
Official unlock is better than unofficial unlock.. Try to flash latest global stable via MiFlash, and unlock it.. If 50% error appear, try to flash global beta and then unlock again..

Hi, according to this thread
Cofface is not recommended for unofficial unlocked bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67505475&postcount=2
Yet cofface is required for flashing to marshmallow roms. So can I get some confirmation here if it can be used for unofficially unlocked bootloader?

you may want to use the "safe twrp" version. its a variant of coface which ensures you dont flash the emmc file. however since you have CM13 which has its own firmware files.. i think you should go the EDL method and use the patched emmc file. refer this http://en.miui.com/thread-253680-1-1.html

His instruction is just a bit conflicted
Bootloader Unlocked UNOFFICIALLY via Mi Flash Tool

2. Flashing MIUI Lollipop Recovery ROM

Yet he also mentions
Cofface TWRP : Google Drive Link
• Based on Official TWRP 3.0.0-0
• Patches boot.img automatically, no need to flash UBP Zip after flashing MIUI Recovery ROM Zip.
• Users with official unlocked bootloader can use this TWRP tp flash custom ROMs as well MIUI ROM Zips.
• Users with unofficial unlocked bootloader should strictly not use this TWRP for flashing MIUI Recovery ROM Zip.

Indeed it is very confusing with various twrp's around..I wish there was only one CWM or TWRP which could flash any rom..
TBH I have also officially unlocked BL, but looking @ various threads daily I am yet to flash TWRP..
It's very confusing & afraid that I would brick my device..:crying:

There is a MM specific emmc file (patched)..look for that on miui forums and follow the steps . I can send you the link later. It will still be unlocked since you are using a patched file. But u will lose your recovery since you are flashing everything stock. So you got to flash safe twrp again after flashing the rom through fastboot. It's just like flashing the LL rom but with a different emmc file.
Alternatively you could use safe twrp as well but I am not 100℅ confident since MM has different firmware/ partitions so I dont know if it will work or not. There are too many users reporting various issues such as bootloop, no sim detection etc etc.
If any experienced user can write a detailed guide for upgrading from miui LL to MM on unofficial unlock using safe twrp, that will be great. Until then use EDL (but backup ALL partitions using Alka twrp before you start)

Can't use the twrp you used on OS 3 for ROMs that don have updated bootloader (currently Ashwins CM13, CM14 do.) For the rest you have to use original twrp. You can just flash it in your current recovery by pressing IMG button bottom right.

Did you install OS 2 before you flashed original twrp?
You have tou use the correct corresponding twrp for each Android version. Official 3.0.20 and unofficial oos 3 twrp version don't work both ways.
Omicron Technics
Fastboot install old OnePlus recovery, then flash OOS 2.2.3.
Then fastboot flash Official TWRP.

root help kenzo

Hi guys
Ive just purchased the great kenzo last week
I just wanted to know how do i root my phone
It has 8.0.5.0
I wanted to know is there a way to do this so that i dont lose warranty
Also as i understand i will have to unlock bootloader to do this and for that i will have to place a request with xiaomi thus voiding my warranty
So is it possible to just root and not void warranty
Also if there are any options to install custom roms as well without losing warranty
Any help will be appreciated guys
I am from India
Anybody??
Requesting a bootloader unlock will not void your warranty
It is easiest done in this order:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash TWRP recovery
3. Flash SuperSU to root.

You DO NOT have to unlock your bootloader to flash twrp and then root your phone. Please see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/red...-to-flash-twrp-recovery-unlock-t3473294/page8

I would just flash global rom, unlock bootloader and then you can flash recovery via adb. It's easier.
Just use standard TWRP or Alka.

I used Zcx twrp. It can read the encrypted data partition in Marshmallow and also disable dm-verity in the locked bootloader. You must boot into recovery immediately after flashing the ROM and before booting into MIUI or twrp will be over written.
I have not flashed other ROMs, but I did root MIUI by flashing SuperSU from twrp without any problems.

From what I've read, that is a general problem when you revert from a MIUI mm based ROM to a lollipop ROM. There are several threads on how to solve the problem.
Good luck.

I think you'll have to search for the threads here or on the MIUI forums. I don't remember the full procedure, but I think it involves flashing an older version of the developer ROM before flashing the stable ROM. I have not done it myself. Xiaomi even warns in the MIUI forums that reverting to the stable Lollipop ROM from the LL developer ROM is difficult.
Good luck.

Is There a Miui 10 china developer rom?

Im looking for it because I flash my phone phone with the newest Version global beta 8.8.2. The main problem is the recovery got changed to stock recovery. All I want for china dev rom is that it has a root privelege. I can't root and flash recovery because I don't have PC now. Please enlighten me. I can't enjoy this miui 10 rom without root. (Specially the headset icon bug) I want to fix it.
You must have PC in order to flash twrp recovery first time?
Without it you can't flash agni kernel to headphone icon fix

But I need an official Miui rom so I can flash it thru the Updater app. My recovery got back to stock recovery that's why I can't flash other custom roms. I should've flashed the eu rom first.
Well,China developer ROM is on here http://www.miui.com/zt/miuirom/download.php
But,you can't use the update app to flash China developer ROM. You can just use twrp or fastboot to flash
