I know OTA updates are generally frowned up in here, but my point is that they should work.
I've been trying to get my OPX to upgrade to 3.1.3, and despite being offered the official OTA update, it won't install.
What state should the phone be in (recovery etc.) for the OTA to work? I've done a factory reset, wiped data and cache and fastboot oem lock / unlock to try and resest it, with no luck.

Fastboot flash old stock recovery. Then flash 2.2.3 with no extras and should be able to update. OTA won't work if the system partion has been modified ie TWRP etc.

Thanks. I probably have modified the system partition. How do I unmodify it?

Get the flashable zips of 3.1.3 or 3.1.4 and shouldn't be issue once you have stock recovery and 2.2.3 installed.

Nope, doesn't work.
It flashes from stock recovery okay, but hangs at the 1+ logo on reboot.
Would formatting the userdata partition from stock recovery get it back to a pre TWRP state?

Hi I unlocked my Oneplus x bootloader using fastboot adb and flashed blu_spark, super SU. But somehow my bootloader got locked again. Now i am trying to flash Cyanogen and other roms and im getting an error. I tried unlocking again but when i type fastboot oem ulock the phone restarts and boots in to TWRP. Please someone help me to unlock the bootloader again. There's a method which i found for oneplus one called tamper bit. But i cant find anything related to oneplus x.
Thank you
Did you enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer options?
Did you enable "OEM Unlocking" in Developer options?
Yes i did. As i mentioned earlier that i have unlocked my device to install super su and blu_spark. When a new ota arrived i tried to flash the stock rom but there was an error called E: ERROR UPDATING PARTITION BINARY. So i wiped dalvik cache, system, data. Still i got the same error when i flashed. So i restore the TWRP backup of my stock rom. I tried flashing stock recovery but the device reboots into twrp. And when i triedfastboot device-info, it says device unlocked : false. And also tried again by enabling oem unlock, but when i enter the code fastboot oem unlock, the device restarts in to Twrp without asking confirmation and its still locked.
Which recovery are you using? Get the 2.8.7.0 or 3.0.0.1. It appears like TWRP issue.

Do one thing. Download full 2.2.0 from oneplus website and flash via twrp. Reboot to system. It will oveeride twrp and install oos and stock recovery.

Snapdragon model, unlocked officially, twrp and rooted, phone downloads update, and just shows mi logo on reboot, tried changing to rom to update.zip, still no go, what do I need to do different? Cheers
What ROM is your device on at present?
What is reported here: -
Settings - About Phone - MIUI Version
You have unlocked officially, so i assume your on a developer rom.
Get the latest developer rom from here and use the updater to flash that.
Make a backup on external sdcard first.
Not on dev Rom, currently on miui global stable v7.5.3.0, phone says update available to v7.5.4.0, which downloads to phone fine, guess it will not install as it does not like twrp or root....???
Flash the zip it downloads using TWRP. It downloads to a folder in the internal storage i think.

Because you downloaded the recoveryAlkaUpdate.zip, when you used root explorer it only contain the recoveryAlkaUpdate.img, extracted it and copied to internal phone storage or external sd card, then used twrp to flash recoveryAlkaUpdate.img or used flashify to flash it.

Next time when you flashed a full rom by alka twrp, flashed superSU.zip , then rebooted phone will be normalised. I always used alka to flash rom without any problem.

Try Relocking and Unlocking the bootloader again

OK so I'm on cm13 and I initially wanted to flash cm14.1 so I flashed the updated TWRP (v3.0.2-0 bc 3.0.2-1 wouldn't boot) and I factory reset and try to flash cm14.1 but I get an error7 and I read that that might be bc I'm on the old bootloader so I try to flash OOS 3.1.4 (newest to my knowledge) but that also fails with an error7 and I tried flashing the stock recovery via fastboot but it won't boot.. any suggestions?

Thanks, I figured it out tho, I had to flash OOS v2.2.0 and it boot fine then after a little searching I found my stock recovery backup from OOS 2.2.0 and it worked, and now I'm updating it to the newest oos version by the OTA in system and after I'm done and fully updated, I'll reflash the latest TWRP and make a nadroid backup and try flashing cm14.1

Hey quick question, do I need to reunlock the bootloader after the method I did? The reason I'm asking is bc when I boot into fastboot to try to reflash twrp (after flashing) I reboot to recovery and it's still the stock recovery? Any suggestions? Thanks

If it's already unlocked, you don't need to do it. Did you lock it again? If you have bootloader locked, flashing recovery will fail. Anyways unlocking will not hurt. FYI Just don't lock bootloader unless you are totally stock with stock recovery.

I didn't relock it but was curious if by reverting to stock and updating to the latest version of oos that it might be locked considering I'm on the newest bootloader now or so I think at least haha

No it will not. I hope you have solved your issue by now.
I tried the latest twrp from the official website, but to no avail
Anyway, i installed PE+ with their official recovery, but now i can't flash magisk or any module
I'm wondering if it can be done (twrp or orange fox) without having to lose all my rom data, as i am alredy settled with my current ROM
Ps: when i tried i flashed at partition be, i have no clue as to why i didn't want to boot to recovery even tho the installer said it actually said it was flashed
Thanks in advance

Yes you can flash any recovery without loosing any of your data
Check the current partition and flash recovery in that partition

the latest official TWRP was released in June 2020. TWRP is not working for me as well after Mi update of Sept 2020.
Now if I install TWRP and boot into system via recovery, it takes me back to Fastboot. I was lucky to have a copy of Stock boot img. @Hugask
