SIM / Carrier Issues - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm actually trying to figure out where the Carrier and APN info is located at.
I want to create a simple APK which changes the APN to a default APN we have at our company.
But there's another problem: How do I change the carrier ID, (the one which shows on the notification bar) without rooting? This would void the warranty...
So, I need to know if this information is located by default in the SIM card, or it changes on every phone...
( Sorry for my bad English, I'm spanish )
Thanks!

Check to see if the correct APN settings are there.
I assume you are in the UK?
Orange APN settings:
Name = Orange Internet
APN = orangeinternet
MCC:234
MNC:33
APN Type: default
Everything else left blank.

[Q] can I change csc file?

Hello
I want to ask if its possible to change cscfile in S5830XWKPO CSC-S5830XENKP7
too CSC-S5830OXFKP3 to get swedish?
Or is it impossible or even not needed? Or maybe it dont change the language....
Dont know much about these things...
Yes. you can flash different CSC files with your ROM and Csc don't include Languages!!!
the rule is flash CSC only if you are having problems connecting to internet,
if your are able to connect to the internet without any problem then probably you don't need to flash anything else
most of the times network provider send internet settings automatically to your devices you don't have to worry about it, Just in case you don't receive internet setting you will have to manually input the APN (similar to access point of nokia phones)

MVNO support in non-CM7 ROMs

I'm on a virtual provider in my country and roaming on the 'main' provider. This isn't real roaming, but I still have to enable the roaming option in Android.
I've worked with CM ROMs and there's an option named 'National Data Roaming'. This is exactly what I need; no roaming in my own country but still roaming when I travel abroid (real roaming).
I want to add this to a non-CM ROM that I have on my phone now.
I tried the "spn-conf.xml" hack, and added the MCC/MNC of my virtual provider with a fake_home_on the main provider. Doesn't work, looks like the spn-conf is completely ignored in MIUI, stock HTC ROM and another ROM. But it isn't, because when I give this MCC/MNC combo an other spn name, than this new name appears in the mobile network list. So it DOES read the spn-conf.xml file, but DOESN'T fake home on the network...
After that I saw an patched framework.jar on MoDaCo: http://android.modaco.com/topic/342267-universal-mvno-patch/
But there is no framework.jar for a MIUI ROM. I don't now how to patch it myself.
So, what are the other option to tell MIUI that I'm NOT roaming? It isn't specific MIUI only, if I figure out a method then it will work for every ROM I think.
Hello?? Someone?
Or is this something for the developers forum?

[Q] no unlock code prompt when adding sim?

Is there a way put in the unlock code without a new SIM? I went from Tmobile (HTC ONE) to straight talk on compatible tmobile SIM….it never asked for unlock code. Put in new APNs but can not remove preset Tmobile APNs (2). Phone and MMS works, but not email/internet.
I don't think you have to unlock it with that kind of SIM card internet not working don't know about that

this is one of my older post,
just create a new apn and add the word default...

Question - How to enable LTE icon in the status bar (if you're in the US)?

I have been trying to find a way of having LTE display as my network connection instead of 4g+/4g (I know that there's no technical difference, but aesthetically it does make a difference and it's easier to see when you're not on an LTE network).
The closest that I have found to making this happen is the following thread here on XDA: [Guide] Enable LTE Icon on Unrooted Mate 9
I already had a call with AT&T to verify that I am connecting to their LTE network with my device so I know that from a technical backend perspective - I'm good to go.
I was able to obtain the list of current MCC/MNC codes currently configured for my phone using the 'get system hw_show_lte' ADB command. However I'm a bit confused as to how I am supposed to add the MNC/MCC values for my carrier (I'm on AT&T). the MCC code is 310, but there are more than one MNC code (according to this site here: http://www.mcc-mnc.com/)
I don't want to mess anything up as I clearly don't know what I'm doing. Is there a magisk module that can make this change (I searched for LTE and only came up with the VoEnabler module)?
Is there a system file that can be modified via a text editor (so that I can make a backup before making any changes)?
Thanks for the help/guidance in advanced.
Thanks for the link.
I tried the command adb shell settings get system hw_show_lte and I got "null"
Then I used the command adb shell settings put system hw_show_lte "310" and it is showing me the LTE icon with T-Mobile.
Maybe after an OTA I will lose the icon, but at least it is really easy to change it again.
