I am using the Miui 8.0.1. stable Rom from xiaomi.eu
The battery indications are strange. The number gets low quick, it falls from 100% to 1% in a short period, and I am not doing much on the phone. It takes like 5-6 hours to go to 1 or 0% but when I take the battery out and put it in again and switch on the phone, all without charging it, then suddenly the battery shows like 56%. How can that be? It is quite annoying and makes no sense. The indication is not reliable at all. I don't even know how much battery is really left. Please help

Do you do it every time after charging your battery? How do you calibrate it?
Even after battery calibration, battery drain is still present. This has something to do with Redmi Note 2 having problems connecting to 2g, 3g and 4g cell towers and WIFI chipset.

I have the same with my rn2. Maybe battery controller on mb? Very annoying ?

I'm using the last stable miui 7 by xiaomi.eu and the 20 firsts minutes was consuming a lot, after this firsts 20 min it's working very well. I'm on 60 % after one day, with very few use, it's working very well for me.
I have detected that using the original charger causes the problem in my case.
It's better to use a USB port from a computer or an old charger. I think the problem is with fast charge.

I did some tests, I wrote the results also on the official forum in the Feedback on Battery thread.
I always had problem with battery since I got my Prime on Oct. 2015, max ~2h SOT, even on MIUI 7.
I did a test without SIMs, wifi only and I reached ~4h SOT.
Then I did a test again with SIMs and data (set to 3G), ~2h SOT again.
And another test wifi only, ~4h SOT again.
Can someone repeat the same test?
100% to ~15% on data -> ?h SOT
100% to ~15% on wifi -> ?h SOT

I got a battery app installed which shows % in the top bar. It stays at 100% for a while but when it starts draining with the screen on I lose about 1% every 1-2 minutes, I think its somewhere in between, if I am taxing the cpu it more frequeent than every minute, this would give me about 2-3 hours usage which seems extremely low.
Brightness is min.
wifi/3g off.
auto sync off.
accuweather is installed (mentioned as it has a service running).
I get the drain simpley from doing things like scrolloing app drawer and checking sms.
With screen off in sleep mode battery drain is ok less than 5% in 12 hours. I have this issue confirmed on 2 different batteries.
If this is normal fine, I just want to compare to others on this.
I used to get around 1 day for heavy use ( like wifi, games, etc.) and 1.5 to 2 days for moderate use Which ROM are you using ??
Cm7 based roms use more battery than stock, cuz also their performance is a lot better.
Use uot Kitchen to get the % battery instead of an app.
Also the launcher u use affects battery. ie Go launcher drains plenty of battery.
If you can't squeeze a day's worth of battery from ur phone ur probably using it too much (how much does a laptop last on battery, seriously!)

you mean a day of constant use screen on or would there be periods of it sleeping?
My phone lasts more than a day mostly 3-5 days but thats mainly because its idle most of the time. However I plan to transfer some tasks to it and it seems I will need to keep the charger in during the day.
Compared to stock CM I think isnt too bad, the drain was also bad on stock with the screen on and during calls but the only reason I specified CM is that I didnt have the % meter on my stock rom which means I dont have the same comparison.
My current rom is vo-1's 30 may build. I had bugs on official nightly that vo-1's resolved (including force reboot when using market) so is the reason I am using it.
Incidently my laptop drains its battery slower than my android.
Why I read that so many use thier phones like 2 days, and I can't even get a 12 hours fair use.
I use 2G (3g drains my battery really quick), some whatsapp, some FB and some calls. Music it's only in the morning on my way to work.
I've buy a new battery from ebay, but, it's the same. Using CM 7.1 rom "The End 4.0"
yeah my hunch seems right that it wasnt overall much diff to stock (that also drained superfast when screen on). IN fact during sleep it seems improved over stock.
I am over 4 days at the moment with 35% charge left. mostly sleep. It lost 3% during the time it took me to fetch the below stats. Note that calls like my earlier hunch as well seem to drain battery far more than display.
4 days 8 hours 38% left
display on 40mins used 4%
voice calls on 1hr 5mins used 33%
mobile standby 41% 4hrs 8 mins
phone idle 4days 7hrs 23%

Surely, you're not using WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, handling e-mails or any of the like. If you're just using the SGA like a normal phone, OF COURSE it can give you that kind of performance. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

This isnt on stock tho the phone is on CM7.2 vo-1 build.
From what I see the battery life is around the same as stock.
Now I am over 5 days with 17% left. Just did a phone call and it stayed at 17%. When below 20% on stock the phone was unuseable.

A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.

Awsome standby ability.Only losses 1 percentage barely when i wakeup morning
Not mine ?mine drain battery as it seems like screen is on all night!!!
Standby was high on miui and miui based roms and it was also high on 7 and 8 roms but the newest roms have the best standby time ever. Only 1 percent in 4 hours. WOW!
With Greenify, amplify and RR Nougat, standby time is crazy high. I get almost two days standby time.

Which ROM you are using?
I left MiUi for good. Some say you get 1-4 days standby. Well I got 1-2 days that I keep using the phone. 12 days standby with Lineage 14.1 ROM and franco kernel. MiUi is nice and packed with features but everyone will leave it for good if one wishes for ultimate battery and performance.
However this is only true for Snapdragon variants. If you have Mediatek well... You can be grateful that your phone gets 1 day standby. It's a power hungry wolf. I sold my Mediatek to buy a Snapdragon. Never regretted.

If your battery was damaged it would heat like hell not just drain. It also depends on the variant if SD or MTK. MTK drains 5x faster than SD. Also miui 7-8-9 weren't very well optimised and drained my battery very fast. MiUi 10 beta on SD variant gets almost a day of screen on time which is really good. One or more day with moderate usage. I use my SD with Lineage os and kud kernel and lasts 8-12 days without charging if I use the phone wisely.
Hi all. From a month to now I'm facing an odd problem with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 SD International. First of all I tried several ROMs: both MIUI Global and Developer, LOS, RR, LegendROM, AOSP Extended and XenonHD: in every of these ROMs, battery performances are quite poor: two months ago screen on time was not less than 9 to 10 hours, now it's hard to reach 6 hours of SOT. I have to charge the phone every two days instead of three. I tried several kernels and power consumpion profile but they didn't help. Is my battery faulty? How con I solve this problem?

I'm sure it's planned obsolescence. The redmi note 2 had the same bug. It drained quickly and charged quickly too. But when you let it drain to 0%, and powered it back on, it still had 35% left. You could still use your phone for 1h after that.
Overnight charge is okay, just don't let it drain to 0%... You should charge your phone everyday. Not once in 3 day.

Assuming the battery was charged every 3 days, are you usually use it from 100 until it's very low power or empty??
if yes, then your battery might already broken...
its because full cycle usage will degrade battery performance faster, just do full-cycle when the battery meter is not accurate to calibrate it, otherwise don't let it fall under 10% or even 0%.
Believe it or not. Battery gets weaker and phone tends to easily heat up after we begin torturing our phones by unlocking and flashing tons of ROMs very frequently. In such Flashing back fastboot images also doesn't bring back that wow factor of the phone.
This is my personnel experience with 5 Android phones till date. The one locked and unrooted is still giving best backup.
But yea we obviously miss some wow mods of xda like Viperfx being unrooted.
Hi, I've opened a thread describing my situation, you can take a look at it if you want to, it may help in finding the solution. I would appreciate if anyone could help me.
The problem is causing buy the wifi.
The phone have a wifi issue.
I write a tread about this.
I found some strange behavior with my phone for the past two months. Actually, the problem started when they released MIUI 9 and it is getting worse over time. The battery is draining really fast. When I check the usage, android consumes almost 70% of the battery. I had reported the issue to MI support and it seemed ok for a few days when I updated it to 9.6.1.0, but the issue seems to be back now. The only option I have right now is to use other custom roms. Can this happen because of faulty battery? I hope not!
---------- Post added at 12:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:02 PM ----------
I am facing a similar issue. When I checked battery usage, android is using 70% of the battery. Could this be an issue with battery? I used to plug my phone over night in the past.
Try let your battery drain to 0% so phone will shut down, this is called calibration btw.(do not use play store apps, all they do is deleting some files which do not work like intended)
Then charge till 95% at most and try again. Btw don't charge phone overnight as it was mentioned above and try charging it when the battery drops to 15%-20%. At most let it charge until 95% you don't want to overdo it. If the issue still persists then you might want a battery replacement.

I'd say that get it checked from the xiaomi service center under your warranty. Even if the problem isn't real, it doesn't hurt to get it checked. You might even figure something out by that and anyways it's free

Reflash stock ROM, stock kernel, lock bootloader and check the usage for 2 days, while taking necessary logs for battery discharge. If the discharge rate is poor, get to the service center.
And yes, 0% battery is unusual especially for a built-in battery.

8 hours of sleep, just wifi on. Cache cleared... 23% of battery drain...
Went to sleep with 80% of battery. Enable airplane mode, 6 hours of sleep, 0% of Barry drain. It's something related to SIM signal.
Will test with one SIM only (I use 2 Sims).
Last test: ONE SIM card, wifi off, battery saver, no airplane mode, 6 hours of sleep. 2% of battery drain. Definitely there is a problem with some SIM cards. Without my second SIM card the problem is gone.
That's strange. Tomorrow i'm going to change my sim card from my provider.

With just one SIM card, so far so good. Idle battery drain is excelent. In use battery drain still high, but the major problem was the idle battery drain.
I will wait for the next update to insert my second SIM card again.
I have the same problem. I had another mi 9 two weeks ago that drained 1% overnight (8-10h) with the previous version of 10.2.13. Now I have my actual mi 9 10.2.13 and it was draining 4-5% in 8-9h (a total of 25-30% drained in 48h standby, an atrocity). I have chatted with xiaomi customer support and they told me to try a factory resset in the recovery.
Now I'm only with WCDMA every reboot, with battery saver enabled, Wi-Fi/data/bluetooth/all off but without airplane mode (only signal active), all optimized to gain battery life and my mi 9 10.2.13 drained only 2% in 9h overnight (not bad at all, but it still twice that my first mi 9).
Before that, I have tried everything without result. I know that all the battery draining is a problem of the standby draining because of the modem/radio/signal, I have tried the airplane mode all night an my 10.2.13 mi 9 only drained 1% overnight instead of 4-5%.
With the first mi 9 with the previous version, I had made 7h SOT with 1h PUBG gaming in 48h with the same options and with the chinese signal searching TD-SCDMA 3g, and the actual mi 9 only did 6h without gaming in less than 72h because of the drainage.
Customer service have recommended to return the mi 9 to Amazon if I continue with draining problems. Maybe I'll try try stable xiaomi.eu ... or maybe I'll try another mi 9 because I have read that there are at least 2 modem versions, and I think that I have the ****ty modem -.-
