Hi Guys,
Now that 4.4 Kit Kat has been announced, i see a mad rush of people asking when will we get it and stuff. My question is what are the changes you are looking forward from Kit Kat that makes your phone great. Is there any one single must have feature in Kitkat, that you want badly. Answer for me is NO.
4.2.2. is running absolutely fine on G2, it pretty much flies, gives a great battery life as well. I would rather have LG take 3-4 months and then deliver a good clean bug free version, rather then deliver half cooked ROM to just rush it. 4.3 was just an OK update, and so is 4.4.
So guess we should just enjoy our phone right now, and not worry too much about 4.4. It will come when it has to, for now there is not even one single thing that 4.4 can do but not 4.2.2.
Have fun and keep smiling.
A very happy G2 Owner.

Latest yes, but greatest, a question mark. Also i am not in denial that we don't want it, my question is what is the rush. It will def come, but what is the feature that you want from Kit Kat to work right now on your phone.

guys, to be fair, when jellybean came out, it absolutely 100 percent ruined the galaxy s3. who knows if LG has optimized their ui properly for kitkat yet.. Samsung sure didn't until pretty much recently.. and its still laggy. if any of you had an s3, youd probably remember how fast, smooth and zippy the phone was when it launched and had ics. it was the best phone I'd ever used. then jellybean came.. and it was awful. everything became laggy, slow, frame rate dropped horrendously.. it was just terrible. so yeah, i agree with this guy.. then again I'm rooted so i have a choice lol

After running almost every release of ICS and JellyBean on my Gnex, I can say the "behind the scenes" improvements Google made in 4.3 made the phone a LOT smoother/faster. I know they did a lot of work in regards to memory usage, garbage collection, etc.
It also looks like they may have continued that work in 4.4, and if thats the case I would expect it to be another update that we would actually WANT, vs the original JellyBean releases.
There isnt really anything I *have* to have in KitKat, but once the third party ROMs mature Im sure Ill install it. I just find it funny that 4.3 nightlies JUST started a couple weeks ago, and now we're already looking at KitKat coming up.
Again as I said I absolutely want it, just that there is no rush or burning desire to have it today.
Let LG take sometime and give us a good rom, till then I am pretty good.

Did Google release the 3.10 kernel with Kitkat?
The full screen mode when using aps I would definitely love. Those nav buttons take up a lot of space when playing games and using some apps.

I'm looking forward to the native IR Blaster support so we can get some really good remote control apps that work across all devices that have IR Blasters (ONE, G2, S4, Note3, etc...)
I agree with a previous post about how much smoother 4.3 was over 4.2 and how 4.4 looks even better. So I want that. G2 already has almost no lag in my experience so I am excited to see it on 4.3 or 4.4. Also I want to get this device above 4.3 for the Trim Support. Every Android Device and ROM I have used have been great for a few weeks then bit by bit t h e y s l o w down. So it will be good to not have that issue much longer.
But right now I am surprised by how much I like the LG Skin. I hope for 4.3 or 4.4 versions that they keep it at the current level, don't add more to compete with Sammie, and just refine what they have already.
The native IR support is what makes me want 4.4 the most. At first I thought it was kind of gimmicky until I realized that it has much more use to me than I could have imagined. I work in the AV industry and being able to control displays in the field from my phone is a huge help.

I heard that Kitkat has better ram and also power management. Is it really that significant?
I'm more concern on the battery life though

I'm pretty sure that LG had access to KitKat sources long ago, since July at least and steady working on porting to G2
The must have features are: OpenGL 3.0 ES support, and navbar customization and hiding. W/o these features G2 is like a large bit crippled

I found this which was just posted September 3rd 2014 its KitKat 4.4.2 for the Huawei ascend mate 2 http://www.needrom.com/download/ascend-mate-2-mt2-c00-kk/ can anybody confirm if this is real or know if this will work?
It's for a different model. Our North American version is the "MT2-L03", so no I don't think it will.
Won't matter to me. I'm sticking with what's on the phone now. It's ROCK STABLE.
The first couple of builds of KK on the Mate2 will obviously have glitches, so I'll wait.
Someone else said it already, but I'm more interested in root than an OS update atm.

Certain ROMs can definitely ruin the battery. I had a heavily modified ROM on my old phone and it would only last a few hours!

No, i meant ... That in the ham 2 nothing can ruin it..... No Mather what I do I get more than 24 hours of battery.. So I'm guessing even if KK update can only affect something but still it would be great battery life.. Coming from a nexus 5 which battery life sucked compared.to. HAM 2

Kitkat has been proven time and again to be faster, more stable, and have much better battery life when compared to Jelly Bean and all previous versions of Android given the same hardware. So unless Huawei does something to royally screw the pooch a Kitkat build would be fantastic on our device.
Unfortunately we may never get an official KK update for our device - Huawei have moved on to heavily promoting the Ascend Mate 7 and that seems to be where their focus lies. They also seem to have a nasty track record of not providing software updates for their handsets.... so that doesn't bode well.
Now that we've got a bootloader unlock and successful root, I'm hoping we can get some developers on board and will eventually have a few third party ROMs to choose from. A guy can dream, can't he?

Agreed, I'm still using my original, very old, Kindle Fire - Battery life and performance always somewhat sucked through GB, ICS and JB.
KitKat vastly improved the battery life, memory footprint, and stability of the device for me. I wouldn't be surprised if a KitKat update made the MT2 even better.
All I know is that I need KK immediately. I need it for some Tasker related profiles I wanna run.
Hello!
I was thinking about buying the LG G R Smartwatch, but it needs android 4.3 and the HTC one x+ (no carrier) I have is 4.2 - What would be a recommended way of upgrading? I'm happy enough with the 4.2, the only specific reason to upgrade would be to get the smartwatch thing going. So a 4.3 (or later) that is closer (and stable) to the default that comes with the HTC One X+ would be best.
Thank you very much.
Hi,
Have you ever flashed a rom before?
Did you look around the android development section for a rom?
I do recommend going with something like Cyanogenmod 11 but its a lot different from stock.
I have the LG G watch r and its great definitely worth it if you want to spend a bit more money compared to the others.
Hi, thanks for the reply.
I have installed custom roms in my HTC desires, rooted my nexus tablet, etc... While I have next to no knowledge of these things, usually the procedures are very well explained in xda and if I follow the instructions carefully and everything ends up working, even when I don't necessarily understand what I'm doing.
I'm quite happy with my HTC One X+, there's no real feature I'd be missing (usually I play a little bit more with phones that are near the end of their life cycle) so the only reason to do this would be to be compatible with the LG Smartwatch.
I too have the same problem. I'll be receiving my Moto 360 pretty soon, and I need to find a stable 4.3/4.4 ROM for the One X+. Until now, I must say that nothing runs as smooth as a Sense ROM... Not to mention the battery life. I'm now running the latest version of CarbonROM, and while it's fast most of the time, is does lag from time to time.
I'll try CM11 and OmniROM, but I'm afraid I'll end up disappointed and in need of purchasing another phone, just to be able to use a smartwatch. It's such a pity HTC didn't at least give us 4.3 with Sense 5...
Maybe it will be realistic to wait for the android L to come to the x+ ?
Given that 4.3/4.4 ROM run as they do, I highly doubt any 5.0 ROM would run better in any way. Call me pessimistic, but the device was left running on 4.2.2, which is 3 generations behind Lollipop. So I won't hold my breath for great performance on 5.0.
But I really hope I am (proven?) wrong.
Well to be honest I don't really want a lot of change, just the things that make it possible to use a smartwatch - maybe Lollipop will attract more people and good things will come? I really only needed those notifications things and bluetooth low power to communicate better with the watch, I'm very happy with the one x+ otherwise, and can't find a reason to upgrade to another phone...
If I had an android wear device, it would make my life easier...Anyone know where I can get a cheap one? We will get L, just not sure in what shape yet....
Wel Lloir, I think LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live are kind of cheaper now. I paid 249.99$ + taxes for the Moto 360 (aprox. 273$), I am now waiting for it to come from the US (a friend is visiting, and she bought it). The G Watch should be around 150$.
I reiterate my statement above, I am pretty sure we will get L (either from you, or other developer), but it still won't run like Sense 5 on 4.2.2. I so hate HTC for not giving us a 4.3 ROM, just for Wear support.

What other developer? Pippo won't do it because he doesn't have the device (And blind deving with a new source is painful) it's just me.....
Though I can't see me getting an Android wearable at that price :/ I'll see what I can do for you though.
I guess I'll go the cyanogenmod 10.2 route for now, seems stable enough and with 4.3. It would be a lot nice if HTC would do a 4.3 upgrade for the one x+ but I really don't see that coming
Didn't CM 10.2 have some sort of a Bluetooth issue on the One X+?

Alrighty then, pure aosp4.3 it is. I'll have to try it tomorrow because the instructions don't seem so easy for my sleep deprived brain right now The audio is the only thing that no custom rom has managed at 100% right? Anyway many thanks for the good work!
Tried CM 10.2 yesterday after I posted the above message, and I must say I am impressed with the speed and stability.
No offence Lloir about your work on 4.4.4, but 4.3.1 is so much better and stable on the HOX+. I'll try Pure ASOP 4.3 in the following days.
For a moment there, I was already thinking of buying a used One M7, but after seeing the stability of 4.3 I will definitely hold off.

I second that request. The LG V10 is a brilliant, flagship device...marred only by lousy battery life (ez to swap the battery out, though). I was expecting that since LG is porting Nougat to the V10, there would be dev work going on. There was a rooted version of the stock H90120e upgrade (which I have on my h901); but, it seems all development stopped after that. The fact that there were enough V10 owners to force LG into doing the Nougat upgrade should prove that there is a sizable market for a new, unlocked Nougat ROM. If anyone does it, I will be glad to act as a tester.

Battery life..yea...in my experience, it fluctuated allot. For a while, my V10 was getting very good battery life, but the last couple months, battery life is terrible, especially just standby time. Its drops to the mid 60's after just 4 hrs of sitting with screen off and nothing happening. I haven't change anything on it.
I recently switched to my Moto X Pure that is stock 6.0 but rooted and lightly modded with exposed....battery life is freaking amazing. Downgrade in camera(but stereo front facing speakers sound amazing), but I think my taste in Android had changed. Moto is closest to pure Google Android as u can get without getting a Nexus or Pixel, only a little bit of Moto apps and services added on...no UI or heavy customization. The experience is much smoother.
I recently had the chance to actually use a Pixel XL for a few days...and WOW...never used Android device that was so buttery smooth and fast. Makes sense cause with the Pixel, Google controls both hardware and software (like Apple and iphone). Only things that is holding me back is that the Pixel doesn't support AptX, which is important to me (but i read that Android O will soon fix that), and also the hefty price...have to get 128gb version since 32 is too small for me and no micro sd slot. Would cost $1,048 for the Pixel 128Gb with Google 2yr ADH warranty. Also, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL (6in lcd) may come out end of this year (November?) so looking forward to seeing how they improved upon the already nice product...at the very lest, price on 1st gen Pixel should come down at that point. Rather wait and dump the money on newer model in a few months...
As far as my V10....plan to wipe and re-flash rom...see if that helps restore the things battery life....but rather do that with an updated custom stock rom...but nothing newer than what i already have....so it its waiting for the 7.0 update.

Hi
I have a V10 H901 running Eliminator74's custom debloated V20L Rom and have no problems with battery in standby (overnight it only looses 2 to 3%)
and under normal use during the day I admit battery life is not outstanding but I do manage to get through the day.

YEAH! We want custom roms, Mods, tweaks, etc! This phone is extremely great!
I cannot promise anything due to work taking up time, life, etc...
But I really want to get xposed working on Nougat, and it doesn't seem terribly difficult with what I saw put up on github recently. That's going to be my first pet project. I haven't messed with this stuff in a few years though, so will have to shake off some rust. If I get it done... it will go up here! lol It's way more for me (I love xposed) then anyone else, but if I get it working why not share with the class!

I got the same problem, Battery life used to be good and all of a sudden it dropped drastically, Hate to see no updates from LG Tmobile, I think the problem is with the android system itself sucking the battery. New battery didn't help. I tried go launcher and it seems to be better ,, so I doubt the launcher is eating up every bit of battery. you could try different launchers and check if that is the issue. ( screen consuming all the battery )
But cant wait to update to nougat. so finally here at xda forums. Awesome folks here!!!
Any idea on how to root h901 running Nougat 7
yes to this thread, please build a stable lineage version for the h901 v10.
Hi all,
No Android P for the Nexus line
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...upport-for-the-nexus-phones-and-pixel-tablet/
Have been running stock on my 6p ever since switching from an Oppo Find 7 which I flashed regularly, so I've no idea on major ROMs or development.
Shame OS support ended (though support went beyond the initial EOL date) because the 6p remains such a capable phone.
Are any ROM devs interested in porting Android P for the 6p? It's early days of course
Thanks!
I'm in the same position. Never considered custom ROMs as I wanted to take advantage of the clear upgrade path offered by Nexus. What will be the choices when P comes and security updates stop (I guess that will happen at the same time, correct me if I'm wrong)? Lineage? Others?

It's time to change the phone. I promised myself to never buy Samsung again but the new S9+ is just great. Also consider Iphone X plus. Maybe it's time for a big change. And 5 years of support...
