Hey all. A new user (@Spikerbond) has 30 LS990s on ZVF that he needs to either downgrade and root, or just root if root is available for ZVF yet.
He doesn't have enough posts to start a thread, but I thought his question is a good one so I created this thread for him. I told him this other thread is a good place to start to learn about downgrading, but I was hoping more people could chime in and give him specifics on the best route to take to root all 30 LS990s on ZVF.
Use the lg rooting tool in this forum, I was on zvf and it worked for me

possible to use this to get temp root until the devs find a fix?
TEsted and no workie.
Have you visited this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1135100
All rooting info will be kept in there until a root method is discovered and then a new thread could possibly be created.
Don't post questions in development.
Hi guys,
So, I'm not allowed to post in the Developer section yet, but I had some questions about the rooting method described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272066
My first issue is that I just want root, that's it. I don't want to unlock the bootloader nor install whatever recovery stuff that it installs. I am just looking for the simplest way to achieve ONLY root access...is there any solution for that?
Also, I just want to leave it as stock ROM and be able to do OTA updates as available. If I root from this method, can I still do that?
And finally, I am on the latest stock software, will root method modify/change that in any way? If so, how?
Thanks for the help and feedback!
-Paul
I just noticed this statement in the thread mentioned above:
"AGAIN, I will repeat... if you're here to root, you're killing an ant with an atomic bomb. This is not a root, it's a IROM unlock."
So where is the simple root method that just does root access?
Thanks again for any help!

Bump...
I guess I'll eventually get a reply here, or get my post count up enough here to be able to post in the relevant thread
Another bump...hoping someone has more information on these questions, thanks.
Bump...almost to 10 posts, haha...
My device is C6802.
I am on 14.2.A.1.136, android 4.3.
I lost previous root upon OTA upgrade.
I tried to search exhaustively and found no good guide to upgrade to GPe 4.4.2.
Can someone kind enough to point the way to me?
Shouldn't have to search as there is a good sticky in the general section on getting root and ready to flash ROMs
Have a read of the TA one and the downgrade one while you are there.
Once you have read them, read them again and then ask any questions you may have
i see a lot of tutorials on how to unlock the bootloader for the h831 while searching. has anyone tried these?
i'm curious because i'm getting the g5 tonight. and i might want to root it in the future.
There is no bootloader unlock for the h831 and there isn't one in developement either. If you really searched on the forums, you would have realised this yourself.

actually, there is one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/how-to/guide-adb-root-rw-dm-verity-off-sprint-t3523499
some have reported it to work. thanks though. and i didn't say i searched the forums, now did i.
Firstly, what you found isn't a bootloader unlock nor a "normal" root method (with supersu and all the bells and whistles). That is actually an userdebug kernel and an adb root is pretty limited for non-devellopers and you shouldn't use it ubless you know what you are doing. So I actually didn't lied to you as there really is no bootloader unlock available for the h831 nor one in devellopement.
Secondly, when you post a question in ANY forum, everyone expect you should AT LEAST make a quick search in the forum iteself or google it. Why ? Because if everybody ask questions without checking if they have been answered, the community is stuck at posting the same answer again and again, wasting everyone's time and ressources. Why somebody should take his own damn time to answer a question if the other person isn't even ready to make a quick 1 minutes search ?

seems like you're angry...how about you just get the hell out of my thread eh?
i asked a question in the QUESTIONS forum! it doesn't matter if it was asked before. if you don't like to answer with kindness, then don't answer at all.
thanks for the info though.
I am aware that there is a thread over this. However, that thread was never given a full answer and it has been a year since any info has been added to the phone's rooting process. If anyone has any idea's guides etc. Please let me know.
