Installing Android N - Elephone P9000 Questions & Answers

I tried to install android 7 right now but my version of the SP Flash Tool rejects the scatter file. This is strange because I'm using the most up-to-date version of the flashtool though.
I hope that someone who already flashed it could help me with fixing this problem.
(I tried running it on Arch linux)
Thanks for your time,
~Xyliton

Had the same problem and tried some other version of SP and successfully flashed it, I'm not sure what was the other version, but I can check it later
Try with other versions and if you still having problems PM me and I will check

I found a version which loaded the scatter file but once I connected my phone it would throw an error. I realized that I had to run the program as root and now it's flashing <3

I'm trying to flash a compatible firmware so I can use Temp CWM or even root to flash CWM.
It's near impossible to root this thing on it's default firmware and no firmwares will flash other than the original. I get a SEC AUTH ERROR. I've tried everything. 32/64 windows. I've done the steps. SUT LR. Tried nearly every version of SuperOneClick. Tried psneuter, gingerbreak, zergrush. Nothing works. And yes, USB dev is enabled.
Anybody know if the Virgin Mobile Motoluxe is different than the others?
Does anybody else have this phone?

Which i assume is the bootloader screen? How can you tell if a bootloader is unlocked?
I'm guessing it's locked if I can't flash another firmware.

What exactly am I doing with ADT?
I can't use adb to boot into fastboot.
I've tried "adb reboot-bootloader" and it just restarts the phone normally.
Also tried "fastboot boot recovery.img" manually. But nothing.
Anybody have any other suggestions?

Hi Guys !!!
I'm happy to have found you ... because I have EXACTLY the same problem !
I own a phone from Virgin Mobile... a motoluxe XT615.
I have unlocked it lately ... it work very well on other provider.
I wish to use the phone on Petro-Canada network, which have unlimited data for browsing at 8$ per month.
However, actually, if you go over 2 Gb, they might shut down your account...
Unfortunately, to be able to use proxy (autoproxy) to make all my apps on the phone working with the Petro-Canada data proxy, I need to root the phone !
Here is what I've tried :
I have tried the SuperOneClick without success... I have tried manual rooting ( using adb shell on terminal ) .. I have tried with Windows 7 and I have tried on Ubuntu ... both failed. I have tried to flash the phone firmware with version IRM-152A-0-4034-A01_BFM ... thus resulted to an unusable phone ! ... the application actually crashed (May try it again!) ...
I have tried to flash it with firmware version IRM-1670-0-4073-A02_BFM_service provided by a website that stated that this firmware is already rooted (in order to install Jelly Beam) ... but ... it resulted in having a non-bootable phone at all...
So I had to flash it back with firmware IRM-174F-0-1022-A01_BFM ... and then I got a blue screen ... (after 4 min waiting) . Then I rebooted and was able to use the phone as before ( well, I had to put back all my settings )...
So far, I've tried the gingerbreak (installed on the phone as an APK) ... I have tried psneuter ... and I have tried superoneclick ... and tried some firmware. I can't get this phone rooted at all !!!
HELP!
If anyone know of a firmware that may work on this phone, I'd be happy to try it ! If the firmware provided is already rooted, then good !
I'll be monitoring this thread to see your own progress...
Thanks !

Are you sure the drivers are installed correctly? Did you update to KitKat using the flash tool? (if so then the drivers are correctly installed). If not, and you updated over KitKat, chances are that you have not installed the drivers correctly which is the hard part. See this post here for correct driver installation http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/development/lenovo-p780-guide-t2658144

i downloaded the update file from this link " http://studioscue.com/lenovo-p780-8g...n-and-rooting/ " and it was a rar file when extracted i got a zip file and i copied that file to phone and switched off the phone and went to recovery mode by pressing powerkey, vol up and vol down. the file automatically installed.i actually downloaded drivers from lenovo website for p780 and installed it in my pc, i even connected my phone and checked for driver update, the message displayed drivers up to date.
I downloaded the driver file and installed. now my phone is getting detected but i get this error in the flash tool.
PMT Mismatch
I have had this problem before, on another phone Bird V1277 see attached screenshot you need a modified scatter file or try and download file again could be corrupted?
I tried with three different scatter files but its not working i get this error in sp flash tool
"pmt changed for the rom it must be downloaded"
what might be the problem

Vroot doesn't give lasting root. After a day or two the root fails. Kingroot wont work and root genius isn't so genius with this ROM. Has anyone gotten lasting root on the newest KK ROM? I have rooted three times. Right now I'm using SuperSU but it is not full root. TB won't work and Mobile Uncle Tools doesn't work fully also. Is there no newer recovery that will work better? I've tried the newest TWRP and the older CWM both won't give full root. I wouldn't ask but I've been looking myself for a long while already. I've even contacted the guy who writes the 4EXT recovery. Maybe he will make us a recovery. I like 4EXT.
What is the difference between the kitkat update variations s220,s221,s214
my phone has s214 and i cant install twrp in it
which is the latest version among all these
Obviously S221.

[Q] FAILED (remote: data length is too large)

Hi Internet,
I was trying to flash Android M on my Nexus 9 (Wi-Fi only) today and ended up with errors such as: "system.ui has stopped working" or "android.process has stopped" because I wanted to see if I actually needed to do a factory reset for it to work properly (turns out I do). After that I've tried again and have run into some issues.
Firstly, after that Android M wasn't flashing at all and I have decided to abandon the idea of M and just go back to Lollipop. Now, I am trying to flash 5.1.1 and I keep on getting FAILED (remote: data length is too large) error when flashing my system partition. I'm flashing everything separately because if I try to do it as one image because I keep getting error: update package missing system.img errors. I have no trouble with flashing my bootloader and other partitions(boot, cache, recovery, etc), but that system partition just won't flash! I've tried 5.0, 5.1, 5.1.1 and I keep on getting these errors.
I have no idea what to do. Please help. I've spent the last 5 hours trying to figure it out and nothing has yet came up. I'm using a Mac, but I don't see how this might be causing an issue.
If you have any valuable information - please help!
I'm very comfortable with flashing and ROMs, in fact I've updated my N5 to M in 5 min, but I've never seen this error before and have no idea how to fix. All I found out is that, I think, it only happens on HTCs...

No,I used the factory image from Google. There were a number of times I got the image to flash, I flashed images separately, but got boot loops even after factory resets. Even got it to boot a couple of times but couldn't sign into Google. Wi-Fi would keep resetting and bring me back to the Google sign in. I'm still not convinced that there isn't something wrong with the device, bad nand? But it's working now. I haven't tried to flash anything since.

I'm pretty sure that the device is fine. I flashed images before and had no problems at all.
If you haven't already, make sure nothing is running in the back ground on your pc that might be using ram. The complete system image has to load into ram and it's a pretty big file.

You might have already tried this too, but re-download the factory image, check it's md5, then extract it. Might be a bad download or extraction. Then follow the long method in this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/general/guide-how-to-unlock-bootloader-flash-t3035153

Yeah, I've tried all of that. Also checked MD5 and it matches to the one on the website. The only thing I could think of is bad extraction. Will try another unarchiver.

Your Android SDK (fastboot) probably needs to be updated. Depending on how old it is, Google updated the SDK and fastboot to allow flashing these very large system.img files in early November, 2014.

Yes! It worked! Turns out I was using this outdated fastboot file which wasn't allowing flashing newer system partitions. Fun fact: outdated fastboot file worked with N5, but didn't work with N9. Anyway, I updated my SDK though Android Studio and everything flashed perfectly. Many thanks to cam30era and jd1639.

Some had the luck with an ota update, but I think most of us flashed the new rom.
This is a bit ridiculous, Im in same boat, I cant use the FP sensor on mine until I get 0315, but it says Im up to date on 0304, I cant flash as I dont have windows. I think the best thing I can do with this phone now is put it back in its box and send it back to the retailer. Very frustrating as apart from this, its a good device.
I ended up flashing it and overall it was worth it. I ended up with a clean install - don't know if there was another way so that I didn't have to re-install everything? The process was also a bit more fiddly when using Windows 10 as I had to bypass the driver signing system by booting windows with this disabled.
Does anyone have an issue with WiFi consuming a lot of power? I've now enabled it to be always on to see if that helps as I read somewhere that it might.
According to a post on the Elephone forum, they've pulled the ota and we should expect a new one mid April.
Some users have 20160401beta, so they are working on something.
For me no OTA, you need to flash it manually with the latest flash tools. Older versions can not load the scatter file.
Best would be, if the elephone distributes the update.zip so we could copy it to the phone and install it from the update menu.
