Hi everybody and merry christmas!!
So i've a problem with my mini pro sk17. It was unlocked, rooted and with latest firmware 0.58.
I've tried to install hybrid rom v4.5, so for that, i put cwm on my phone. I entered it one time (for installaing the rom) and since, no way to get it back! I 've read the thread about cwm installed, and there is one post wich talk about this issue (missed it of course before flashing!!!!gggrrrrrr): now my phone stay at sony ericsson logo.
Flashtool doesn't work on my pc (java problem, but can't resolve it)
I can put my phone in fastboot mode, but when i try to install another recovery, it says that i'm not root, but yes i am.
Nothing else works. Is there a way to erase completely the phone and push back stock rom or something like that?
Thanks for help.

First of all some questions.
How did you install CWM?
What version of CWM did you run?
Is it nAa's recovery?
I think that your recovery is not able to install custom roms and that it has been deleted during the installation of hybrom.
To install a fully functional CWM and to be able to flash custom roms, you will need to install a custom kernel first, that contains CWM.This can be done only by using fastboot. So you better try and make it work...
Hi, thanks for the reply,
the cwm i've installed was with SE extrem tweak installer found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346190
but i don't know wich version it was.
Yes i've already tried with flasboot, but the problem is that, when i push the kernel, it says that i'm not root!!
Is there a way to get root with fastboot or adb? cause superone cliq or doomlord script root don't work until my phone is not fully started.
I get adb working some times, but i'm not sure i can do something with it.
Bye

If fastboot says that you are not root, then your bootloader is still locked.Unlock your bootloader (visit this page:http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions)
and then flash whatever kernel you want....
Yeahhhhh,
it works!!
Thanks a lot, you're a god for me!!
It is strange cause, it wasn't bootlaoder locked before, so that's why i didn't try to unlock it first. For me it was already unlocked.
So, it's great now i can't do what i want.
HAve a nice day.
Thanks again.

Hi everyone¡ I have a important problem trying to root my prime, i did it moths ago, but i didn't used it, and yesterday i decided to unlock the bootloader of the device, to put a diferent room, and i used the official way from asus.
The problem is that when i tryied to enter in any root-required aplication the authorization is denied by the superuser, and i've tried all the methos to root and unroot the device, but it's imposible, i've also installed the drivers given in the foro, and i think that that's okay, but at the times i try to start the adb it closes.
I hope someone can help me with this, i have experience in this kind of things but this time everything was wrong.
I let some information if it can helps:
Rom version: 4.0.3
Build number: 9.4.2.28
Thank you very much¡

But do this only if you are LOCKED (not unlocked)! If you are unlocked you can flash any firmware from development forums via CWM or TWRP.
RETRY
Try to do it again or google another ways to root your phone. I've also experience same problem before but I have repeated the steps again then after many trials it was rooted. Just have faith.
Look, the problem is that when i try to root the device with viper mod (i'ts the only one which allows me to start) alway says "only read system" or something like that, here it is. Please, put http//: if you wanna see the picture because i have less than 10 messages and i cant upload photos¡

Hey XDA, can we talk? cause im about to cry man tears.
First off you are much better at android then I am, this isn't me trying to sound humble, I suck and the threat of bricking my toys scares me.
Today I found a way to get root access without unlocking my bootloader and I was thrilled, it was easy and it worked! I had root access and then decided I was going to try to install CyanogenMod 10 (latest nightly) and so I installed ROM Manager and downloaded CyanogenMod, when I tried to boot to recovery mode (hold down volume and power, then up volume) I would get the dead android with an exclamation point, every time.
So I decided to unlock my bootloader, I went searching and came across the ASUS official bootloader unlocker and it said the unlocker was for ICS and I have already upgraded the ASUS rom to jellybean, I decided to try the unlock device app anyway and now when I restart the words "this device is unlocked" show in the top left corner, I thought that meant the bootloader is unlocked but when I restart into recovery mode I still get the dead android.
I cant find any information anywhere about how to unlock an ASUS jellybean bootloader and I am only guessing that why I keep getting the dead android.
Anyway, if you can help thats awesome, I am usually the kind of guy that can read and find the answers but **** me if I cant find them anywhere, I was never good at the world of bootloaders, whether PC or Android and I am hoping to find a hand and learn something more here
Thanks
I know its my first time here to post but I have read loads of stuff off this site.
78 people read this already, one of you must be able to point my dumbass in the right direction?
bueller, bueller ...:crying:
Once I get an idea of what I am doing wrong and why I keep getting the dead android, I think I will try to install AndroWook 2.2

You are unlocked but you do not have a custom recovery installed yet.
Go to the TWRP thread and follow the instructions for installing TWRP for the JB bootloader. Do not install CWM.
Make sure you get the correct TWRP for the JB bootloader.

Sweet, im on it right now
Wow, there are TWRP threads everywhere, several downloads, I even did a search within the transformer prime subthread and cant find one version mentioned for the JB bootloader.
Ill keep looking ...
Lost again.
So I found this
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93
But then I read this
"We STRONGLY recommend users enable and backup your device before flashing custom roms/recoveries with nvflash courtesy of AndroidRoot.mobi (this also makes your device essentially "brick-proof") - you need to be on the ICS bootloader to do this, if you have taken the JB OTA from Asus you cannot get nvflash access.
If you have updated to the JB OTA bootloader then you must use the -JB version of the recovery, flashing the non -JB version could potentially permanently brick your device (unless you have nvflash as noted above)."
And have no idea which way I should proceed, should I downgrade? no idea how to do that, I think I read somewhere if I have the official formware updates from ASUS that I can stick it on my microSD and the asus recovery will see it and install the downgrade.
Or should I just go for it, that bricking is a risk but low?
I know I am running jellybean but I still dont have a clue exactly what bootloader I have, I assume there are several versions under jellybean but I cant find any guides to tell me exactly where to find what bootloader version I have.
1: Can anyone tell me how I find exactly which bootloader I am running? I have JB installed (4.1.1)
2: So what version of TWRP do I need to download?
3: How would I install TWRP?
and yes, I am unlocked and rooted, help!
Download TWRP 2.5.0.0 for JB blob from here: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/93
Rename to twrp.blob
Use command prompt on your computer to flash recovery to tablet using this command: fastboot -i 0x0b05 flash recovery twrp.blob

You can't use NVFlash because you are on the JB bootloader. You can't downgrade to ICS.

Any update? I've had my Prime for over a year. Rooted tonight, looking to unlock the bootloader and flash a custom ROM. Interested to hear the results.
Flash TWRP:
Once unlocked, power it off. Once off power it on by holding BOTH volume down and power buttons. When you see the menu appear the first option is RCK. press Volume Down to change the cursor to be over the USB logo (two presses of the button) and press volume up. This puts your device in fastboot mode
Back on your computer you should hopefully see a successfull driver install for fastboot. I got all my drivers from downloading and installing the Android SDK so you may or may not need to do that. Android SDK
If all is prepared and you are in fastboot with drivers loaded:
On your computer hold shift and right click on the folder where fastboot and the twrp.blob file are and you will see a context menu. Click on "Open Command Window Here" (Vista + only or if you installed powertools on 2000/XP)

Tired though, and it's late. So I'm going to hold off on the final steps.
Hey peeps,
Am totally new to android as I have only just binned my iphone contact and got a Ultra, the issue am having, I am reading and reading and getting nowhere fast
I would like to root my phone but I seem to be getting stuck in an endless loop which I don't know how to break!
Phone is brand new, no contacts, nothing, I just want to do the following, which I would have thought would be in this order,
Backup the TA (As I have read and read that this will save the DRM keys, which once lost are gone)
Now, I read to backup the TA, I need to root, to root I need to unlock bootloader, to unlockboot loader you have to root all of which then I read is warnings that you can lose the DRM's
Arrrghhhh
I have the flashtool installed
Am on .757
My bootloader is locked but unless the .757 update changed it I was able to unlock it but everything I have tried and read doesn't work
I have my unlock key as well, and I have vague idea's what I want to do but there are so many threads and everything seems to loop back to to root, you need unlock, to unlock you need root to flash you need root lol am going crazy.
Am not sure why am struggling so much with following the guides but I guess it's cause I have zero experience with doing this.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Yeah, I'm not surprised by this at all; and welcome! You have to downgrade to 532 using Flashtool, then root, and then backup the TA partition. You're free to upgrade to 757 again after that, unlock your bootloader and root 757.
Sent from my Z Ultra
Thanks for that info mate, so far that's made more sense than searching all of these posts
Am thinking about two steps in this guide to downgrade
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593918
First one seems very simple, but second one seems to flash them back to solid stock from the look of it.
Once downgraded,
I thought you require bootloader unlocked before you can root, and from what I read you need root to unlock/backup, or have I missed something?
(hopefully will be back to 532 shortly after files finish downloading.

Downgrade to .532 - see my downgrade thread
Root using either [NUT]'s dual recovery or bin4ries tool - see thread in step above or LordManhattans guide
Backup the TA - see LordManhattons guide
Upgrade to latest FTF
Unlock bootloader
Root using jackies099's kernel
...
After hours of reading and searching around and trying to follow what LordManhattan said.
I have the phone down to 523.
I now have the bootloader unlocked
Just not sure on the rooting of the phone..
With Flashtool can I simple press the Lock key and root it that way? I don't know the difference between Superuser or SuperSU
Or do I have to do it another way?
I have looked at a number of rooting options and am unsure what to do, one way the links on the guide didn't work others are little confusing!

The order you have done it in is just wrong, so wrong... But what's done is done
Now that the bootloader is unlocked just flash a 757 FTF and install jackie099's kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714511 and then flash SuperSu from recovery
Did you just skip backing up TA partition? Because if you did, that just defeats the purpose of downgrading

Morning peeps,
No atm I stopped at unlocking the bootloader after the downgrade, I have tried to run the Backup-TA-9.10 app but it fails on detecting Root cause obviously mines not rooted.
So regarding backup am not sure what am supposed to do, as all threads seem to point to that you require root to backup o.0
blueether I have read so many threads my eyes feel like they are going to bleed, like my original post stated, it seems to be a loop I was getting stuck in.
I cant backup without root from all the threads comments
I cant root without backup for safety and bootloader unlocked, and to unlock bootloader it seemed I had to be a specific version namely 532 to unlock.
So I have got somewhere, instead of pulling my hair out going no where
I hope the way I have moved forward doesn't or hasn't caused any possible lose of keys etc, so the question is, how do I backup before trying the next step of root?
Read post 6 above, follow all the steps in tat order

Hey dude, what's going on? .. have you successfully root yet?
Which step is you dont understand to ROOT? .
Done the downgrade!
2.Root using either [NUT]'s dual recovery or bin4ries tool - see thread in step above or LordManhattans guide
Its the above, gone to Bin4ries post, the links don't seem to download for me? so cant get the tool to do the root
3.Backup the TA - see LordManhattons guide - should be able to do that, its working to the point of seeing it's not rooted, so not worried about that part!
4.Upgrade to latest FTF
5.Unlock bootloader - Already done by mistake thinking it was done easiler :S
6.Root using jackies099's kernel
7....
The thing I have noticed as well atm which am slightly worried about, is my sim card says invalid atm, hoping that changes when it's all finished

the sim/imei problem shouldn't have happened if you followed my guide, but dont worry, it will come back after step 4

Step 2 is only so we can get a backup of the TA so that it is safe to unlock the bootloader
Step 4 when you update to the latest FTF you will lose root
Step 5 will allow you to get root any time you want without having to do the downgrade dance
Step 6 is needed because the stock kernel wont keep write access to the system. This step also re-installs recovery so that you can flash the superSU update binary
Hi Blue,
Feel like am getting my self further and further into the **** with this
I was able to find bin4ries tool after searching on the net for awhile, and used that as advised, which has worked and didn't seem to be a problem, the SU appeared etc.
I then did the Backup which again has gone fine.
I updated what I thought was the latest TFT C6833_14.1.b.2.257_euro-lte.ftf from one of the links but looking at the phones version am still showing 532
That's the stage am at with still the sim/imei issue
I have downloaded the link you have provided for the lockeddualrecovery looking at it, I get options to
1. installation on ROM rooted with SuperSU
2. "" "" " with SUperUser
3. installation on unrooted ROM
4. exit
at this stage am not sure what to do, as I thought getting all the other steps completed now would have solved this.
Think am starting to regretting trying this and feeling like a total tool!

OK so you are past step 3 now and you have a rooted phone with a backed up TA partition.

Full credit to redditor qrtippadfhjlzcbmm for the instructions, I'm just reposting here. Link to reddit post at end.
I successfully rooted my Zenfone 3. It seemed worth posting since there weren't really any posts I could find verifying a recovery image. [for clarification that was from the post, not me magicmanfk]
1. Unlock the boot loader with the instructions / app from Asus
2. Download TWRP. Specifically twrp-3.1.0-0-Z01H-20170408.img ** [edit: also rename to twrp.img once downloaded]
3. Download SuperSU.
4. Reboot to fastboot by rebooting the phone, and pressing the down arrow during the unlock screen.
5. Flash the recovery image `fastboot flash recovery twrp.img`
6. I had to power cycle the phone completely to get TWRP running.
7. Reboot to recovery. If TWRP ever asks you something about not making the system read only don't swipe! Say not now.
8. Install SuperSU with steps 7 - 10 from the SuperSU site
** I'm generally wary about downloading recovery images from random places, but I found a link posted by shakalaca on the Asus forums (translated), so it seemed worth trying out.

Have you attempted to flash the newest ROM yet since being bootloader unlocked? Not sure if we can do it in TWRP or need stock recovery to do it.
Any roms available for the zenfone 3 xoom ? I would love some stock roms lol

I have not personally done this because of exactly what you are asking. I believe you need stock recovery to do it, but this is from scouring what other people have done and I don't have a link. I'm waiting for the nougat update before doing it.

Not yet! I'm hoping there will be soon though. It may help if there was a forum for the device, so if you haven't yet please make a post in the Device forum request page for it!

You should be able to extract the stock recovery out of previous ROMs and flash it.
I'm with you though, waiting for Nougat update. Not bothering with this last ROM from late May that added pretty much nothing.
Hi. I'm the person from reddit.
I'm sure it's (some how) possible to apply an update after running this process. I realize now I should have done this, and then applied the May update, but I didn't. I will try to make it a point to post some instructions on how to do it when it comes out because I'm struggling with out Nougat.
Does anyone know how to get rid of the garbage Asus notification bar, and get the default Android one?
Do you know if you can relock the bootloader? Just curious

No. Ended up returning Bootloader unlocked phone for a new phone. Waiting until I see others successfully unlock BL and flash stock ROMs.

You can get the stock recovery from the converting cm to ww thread. The image there contains the recovery.IMG file.
Hi, I can not run the root, because by using the official unlock software, something is unsuccessful ... By running the software comes out a "unlocked" message without there being any wipe or restart of the smartphone. .. Does anyone have the same problem? I also tried to make a "factory reset" from recovery but the problem remains ...

Yes, but I'd use the latest TWRP version and magisk instead of SuperSU (It gets the job done).
Also, update to the latest firmware so you can get the latest security patches.
Hi, i bought this phone.
Also you have a light halo in bottom of screen?
Thanks
