Hi
I updated my samsung galaxy j5 (j500-FN) to android 6.0.1. I want to install cm12 (or 13 if possible) for my phone. I know how but im just not shure if i need to downgrade to android 5.1.1 to install CM12. Is it necessarry or can i just install it with 6.0.1. And if needed how can i downgrade to android 5.1.1. I tried it several times (download stock firmware, flash it...) but i just end up bricking my phone.
Kind regards
Brent
@bcoudi what brick, please be specific with your problem. Tell me about status of your device so that I can help you and guide you properly,
So the brick isn't really the problem, i fixed it. But i don't know what causes the brick. Is it because i'm trying to run cm12 on android 6.0? Or maybe something else
Downgrade to 5.1.1 is necessary because the baseband of cm12 is lollipop

Hello gentlemen, I have Galaxy S3 and I have there stock rom from samsung android version 4.3 (specifically i9300XXUGNA8) and I would like to try a MIUI rom. However I find guide only with downgrade on stock rom version I9300XXDLJ4 which is android 4.1.1. But I know that it used old EFS file version 1 and in my rom is EFS v2. So if I downgrade it, the telephone was not work - especially signal from operator. Does anyone have any advice or some guidance on how the stock Samsung rom to MIUI. Thanks for the advice. (and sorry for my english)

I've used the MIUI rom for s3, and trust me, it's really good. The only downside is that you have to downgrade to android version 4.2.2 which is CM based. The latest version is based on 4.2.2, not 4.1.1
You have to do this:
1) Root your s3 following a proper guide. There are plenty on the net. Just google it.
2) Install a custom recovery. I recommend TWRP or Philz Touch recovery.
3) Download the MIUI rom from their official website en.miui.com
4) Flash the rom using the recovery.
Done. Hope this helped
i am posting this, because not found an appropriate answer
i want to know is there a possibility to downgrade to lollipop from marshmallow without Bricking/harming the device.
i am on cm12.1 currently.
now i am gonna install cm13 and blisspop 6.0 rom, to give them a try.
1. can i revert back to cm12.1 from cm13 or blisspop 6.0
2. is there any bricking chances in downgrading from marshmallow to lollipop like lollipop to kitkat?
3. can i able to restore my official lollipop stock rom LPC 23.13-34.8 twrp backup after installing cm13/blisspop 6.0 without bricking device??
Yes there's no chance of bricking.
i have been off and on rooting my Note 4 - T-Mobile to several custom ROMS. Ive also gone back to Stock ROM several times with no issue, i was using CM12.1 ROM for Galaxy Note 4! [Android 5.1.1 + Root] and saw that there was a Marshmallow release, specifically CMRemix ROM for T-Mobile/Canadian Galaxy Note 4! [Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow]. the 6.0.1 custom ROM was very very shaky so i decided to go back to the Stock ROM and using ODIN i encountered a Fail during the process. on the phone it stated a failure similar to this one:
SW REV CHECK FAIL : Fused 1 > Binary 0
No matter what Stock ROM i used 4.xx or 5.xx i encountered the error BUT
I was able to use TWRP to get back to CM12.1 5.1.1 to get my phone working again. I just need a clear understanding if i will be able to try a fix to get back to Stock Rom or will i just have to use custom ROMS till i give up my phone? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks
PS, please be gentle, i would still consider myself a nube and not a pro, i just follow directions very well when it comes to rooting and loading up the custom ROMs, thanks again
Hello guys. Sorry for my English. It's not my native language.
I flashed TWRP with Odin for my phone Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 SM-J710FN. After that I flashed custom ROM with TWRP and SuperSU. Anyway after that I decided I dont need this ROM and root anymore. I was with the last stock firmware and android 7.0 before this. I decided to install my stock firmware and remove the custom ROM and root and I installed android 6.0.1 which was my first firmware. But now when I go to settings and click software -> update, it says I am using the last software for my device J710FXXU2APK6 and I can't get the 7.0 update which was my software before. I can't get the OTA update. Also I don't know why is it J710FX. My model is J710FN. I know I can flash the last stock firmware with Odin. But I want to receive OTA update. Did I flashed different 6.0.1 firmware. Also my country is Bulgaria and how to find the right pit? Did I killed my OTA updates ? Please help me!

Hello,
Yes, I know this phone is old and I'm hoping someone will help me but I have a Motorola Droid Turbo 2 and the battery is about to go bad and I also broke me MicroUSB port so I have to wirelessly charge it. I want to go back to my Samsung Galaxy S4 which it's on Android 5.0.1.
Before I got this Samsung Galaxy S4 had the same phone but I broke the LCD when I went to replace the screen which it ran Android 4.4.4, it was rooted, and had the SafeStrap custom recovery on it. This Samsung Galaxy S4 is on Android 5.0.1 and I saw a custom ROM that can make the phone run on Android 7.1 or Oreo so I want to do that to get the phone almost up-to-date close to my Motorola Droid Turbo 2.
I rooted using Kingroot so the first question is how to make SuperSU the main root permission.
I tried to use TWRP but it mess the stock recovery up so now it goes to Odin mode, the second question is how can I get a custom recovery to unlock the bootloader.
Lastly, what is the best ROM, I see the CM is nothing anymore and I saw a ROM called "LineageOS 14.1" which run Android 7.1.1, so the ROM I like to see haves at least Android 6 or newer and if there isn't any then what is the best Android 5.0 ROM.
--Here is the Phone info---
Model number: SCH-I545
Android version: Android 5.0.1
Baseband version: I545VRSGPL1
Kernel version 3.40
Build number: LRX22C.I545VRSGPL1
Keep in mind I'm little rust on rooting and custom ROM. I haven't done a custom ROM since the Droid 1 days. Please make it noob friendly as possible. I'm using a Linux OS right now but if I need a Windows OS I got one.
Thank you!

You're stuck on 5.0.1. forget about upgrading past 5.0.1. not going to happen. Ever.

Only the MDK bootloader can boot ROMS based on Android 6, 7, 8, etc. Once you've updated past MDK, you can't go back.
