I Hope I'm not asking something that has been solved already.
But here's the Problem. Basically All my apps (especially whatsapp) don't seem to Send me Push notifications.
I have googled it and it seems like Im not the First one with this Problem.
Do u Guys know how to help me with it?
Im running cuoco 92rom atm and my Technical skills are rather bad :laugh:
Btw ive read lots of good Reviews about madsurfer's rom. Can anybody with experience tell me if it's Worth changing from cuoco->madsurfer's?

Sharp has made a pretty nice Keitai-style Android phone: sh7218u , but has crippled the OS only to run chinese apps. (They call it DimSim)
What would be the best way on approaching a potential "uncrippling" of this software.. and installing a full blown Andorid on it ?
All suggestions welcome, (I don't wanna hear any "buy a HTC instead" replys) 'cause they don't make clamshell androids)

Anybody has more info on functioning of the SH7218U outside China, namely in EU? Been thinking about this phone as my second (private phone), I'll be able to order one from China in August... Is it worth the hassle and the risk?

Oh yeh, z4root roots this device fine btw.
Now, I don't really know how to read Chinese well so Ive gotten all this info from lurking Chinese forums searching for keywords or just finding these because of others. So, if anyone can help me out with translating this link I'm about to give, ALOT of helpful things will result since it's basically a thread on SH7218U optimization.

Also, if you check out this vid, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmTf300BhpI ,this guys SH7218U is modded so the notification and virtual android buttons have a different look to them. I asked the guy and this is what he said, "It is similar to how to modify the status bar is other android phone (which you can search from google or XDA forum), but the tricky part is instead of modify the frame-res.apk. you do the modification on dianxinos-res.apk". Now that seems simple enough but I can't find any guide on HOW to do this, and him not replying any further didn't help me out.. SO yeh, if anyone can read/write Chinese lets look up on how to mess with the SH7218Us framework.apk and dianxinos-res.apk, as for now Ide rather not mess with those important files without a clear English guide.
So let's try and get something going here possibly maybe perhaps?
Anyone out explain the issue with the bluetooth pairing on this thing. I've tried to pair a couple different phones but no cigar. I looked all over this forum to see if there was a fix but haven't seen a solution only other complaints. When I flash to a new ROM will that fix the poblem? If not how? What did you guys do?
Are you trying to use stock rom? Most people here have no idea how stock rom performs with most functions.

I checked out your web site earlier today from the reply you gave me last night on some other stuff. I can't tell you enough how appreciated this site is. I read every last word of each section and have a much better understanding. I would like to have a better understanding of each ROM. Like what would make me choose one over another? They have to be reasons to pick one over another. What does one do that the others don't? On your web site a brief description of each one could help us dummies know which one would serve our needs better. It's just an idea that could cut down on future questions. I love the site and will be visiting often. Thanks for all of that effort GoodIntentions!

Pros and cons
I thought about this a bit more. Maybe a list of the pros and cons for each ROM could help. If I knew the down side for each ROM it would definitely push me in one direction or another.
I agree with the Pros and Cons idea, I'm in the process of trying to work one up, but alas its seems my knowledge has become slightly outdated don't you hate that? Running CM7, I've got lots of cons but compared to what I had before I stuck with it. Switching to VeganTab I'll let you know how that goes but I'm thinking it may be a permanent switch.
I've never had any trouble pairing with my phone with the roms I tried. Make sure your gtab is visible.

my SGSII turns off by itself at random.. I made some tests, looked around in various forums and noticed that many people had the same issue: I would like to rule out the thesis that this issue isn't hardware related, and that somehow it depends on a particular "usage environment" of the user (rom, apps, sd cards, wifi router, operator cells).
So.. I'm asking you guys that have already returned your device, if you solved the problem with the replacement or not..
Maybe we can understand a little more about this issue..

Anyone have a Nexus 7 wifi only?
IF SO, I have a favor to ask you. I tried posting this on the Nexus 7 forums, but there's so many people there and so many threads my thread got buried so quick. Plus, everyone here is generally nicer and more responsive.
I made some modifications to my N7 at some point, and now that I want to upgrade to 4.2.2 it fails because of issues relating to Gallery.
I think I'm missing some files. IF anyone has a rooted stock N7 could they post any of the "gallery related" apps / files from System/app (Gallery.apk, GoogleGallery, etc, etc)
If not, I'll keep trying to remedy this another way lol

Except for the fact that it's in the Inc4G forum so he probably thought let it die so.....
It's not a glitch, this isn't Wreck it Ralph.
I know it shouldn't have been posted here anyway, but I was getting frustrated :/
Anyway, I solved it by googling and finding a stock ROM and getting the files from that zip.
Then I decided to flash Cyanogenmod to it anyway, so really I was wasting my own time and other people's time.

I realize this is a quite stupid first question on this forum, as I found many threads, which already discuss it. The problem is that the answers seem inconsistent.
I would like to know if Whatsapp Sniffer still works for reading Whatsapp messages on the same Wifi. If only in some cases, or with some device, in what cases or devices.
There is still a huge amount of articles, searching on Google, which explain how this is still possible and normal. In some threads here and elsewhere, though, I read this problem was fixed by Whatsapp already a year ago.
Could somebody making it clear?
Sorry again if it is a bit dumb and it was already clarified.

Nah, it dosent work now and wont work ever........back when watsapp started it wasnt encrypting the messages............it has now shifted to encryption.........
