Cell broadcast/CMAS/tsunami/civil alert messages on Redmi 3 Pro. - Xiaomi Redmi 3 Questions & Answers

I have been using various roms on my Redmi 3 Pro and none are as stable as miui 8. So I am sticking with that for now.
The problem is: this has no option to ENABLE Cell broadcasts / CMAS messages. In The Netherlands we use cell broadcasts for civil alert warnings such as gas leaks, air raids (hehe) or other major calamities. Is there a way to use the cell broadcasts app from cyanogenmod for this? I noticed that those roms do have the alerts installed and enabled.
Any other means of enabling these messages is also appreciated. This question has also been asked on the miui forums, so I will share with them if we get this fixed

Is there really no one that can be bothered with this safety feature?

The only thing I've noticed this feature is being used in my country is for notification on subway stations. It was really annoying for me to get a notification on every single station, so I disabled it. Used MIUI 7 during spring, now MIUI 8 but now I'm using a localized, dechinafied and optimized version from miui.su and luckily it's disabled and frozen by default in their ROMs. But you can just unfreeze it and allow notifications for the cell broadcast.

Instant Messaging App fails to receive message problem.

Hello all.
This is my first time buying a xiaomi phone and I'm not that familiar with miui. And there is a problem I found that is instant messaging app like WhatsApp not receiving in the background. When the phone is active (not in doze) it will receive messages as usual but once left unattended for a period of time, messages won't sync in the background.
I've tried turning off miui optimization, allow auto-start and made sure that background data is not restricted but the problem still persists. Considering custom roms are not released yet, plus bootloader unlocking isn't allow before the first 2 months this is a major issue.
I'm currently running the latest global rom FYI.
Update: found a temporary fix by locking the app in the recent app menu.
same here. swapped my SIM to slot 1 and it worked. looks like a bug.

Report it in the feedback app in the settings. It should help them fix the problem in the next stable or beta update.

EMUI 10 - VoLTE Icon Refuses to Leave

Hello, I have been trawling through posts here and on Reddit for a few hours now.
I only today bothered to install the EMUI 10.0.0 update on my JSN-L21 (UK variant?) and have discovered the issue that many a EMUI user has had: I cannot disable the VoLTE icon on the notification bar. There is no option to disable VoLTE itself in settings. I have tried SystemUI Tuner, and directly blacklisting the volte/volte_call icons with ADB. Neither had an effect.
I suspect I may have had VoLTE switched on in settings prior to the update and left it enabled, but I cannot now disable it as the phone seems to have detected that my provider/contract does not actually support 4G Calling, so it hides this option from me; as such, I cannot see whether or not the option is turned on in the background.
Does anyone have any idea how to proceed from here? I know of SetEdit but I've no idea what I'm looking for. I've seen a small number of things that might be relevant but I fear changing them in case it's wrong. In the Global Table there's a line called "volte_vt_enabled" set to "1"; "card_volte_flag_0" set to "1"; "card_volte_flag_1" set to "-1" ( I assume flag_1 refers to the secondary sim card, which I do not have inserted), beyond that I haven't seen anything but I most likely have missed many things.
Thanks

Problems with GPS during call

Hi all, I installed last image with MIUI12/Android10 and rooted with Magisk, everything ok.
I noticed that using GMaps or Waze during navigation If I receive a phone call the navigation stops, like GPS is not working, when the call end It restart working...I verified the permissions and seems everything ok, infact both apps are configured without power saving. I don't understand why GPS antenna stops working during call!!!
Also, I rolled back to MIUI11/Android10 and the problem persists...In the past I had other brands like Samsung and Huawei and never had a problem like this, I use my car for work and I need the navigation wrking during call.
In this moment I have the possibility to give the phone back, could you please confirm me that there's no solution? And If not, what can I try to do?
Thank you
have you checked that the location/GPS is always allowed for Waze and not just when using the app. That worked for me. Open in settings the app and check location
Yes I checked, both Maps and Waze have correct permissions...Also, I had a chat with Xiaomi support and they said to me to activate VoLTE, but the system does not permit me to because my phone operator does not support It...But now I have a Xiaomi.eu rom and not the stock Global, I remember that when the phone arrived to me with the stock rom was passible to enable/disable VoLTE...So I could try to roll-back to the global stock, but the question is: why VoLTE is needed to avoid GPS to lose signal during call?!?
Can someone please test the GPS during call? It's very simple, you Can Do in your home...stay near a window and start navigation where u want with gmaps or waze,do a call to your home Number and leave It ring, come back to navigation and see if you receive the message "GPS signal Lost" After some seconds...Please let me know, also I Need to know mobile operator, If VoLTE Is enabled and OS version

Question Issues with mobile data and notifications

Hello.
So i bought the iqoo 7 Legend Chinese version last April and since the beginning im facing some Issues...
I thought that with a OTA update wiil become normal, but no.
So the problem is, even if the phone have mobile data on, with the 4g or 4g+ signal, he loses connections, speed transfer is like 100 kbs... He changes from 4g+ to 4g on a second, and the data transfer stucks... Its strange..
And the other thing, the notifications... I dont receive wattsapp, email, other apps notifications... Anyone have the same issue? If someone could help i apreciate... Thanks.
Are you using the phone in a country other than china, if yes then probably it is because of a different baseband/radio version. You need the particular country software version on your device.
The signal depends on compatibility of the phone, but notifications can be turned on in the settings of every app.
If you still have problems after turning on and giving priorities to the norifications, you could use adb (or adb appcontrol) to uninstall an app Called PEM (is the vivo battery management, and is very aggressive with notifications), but it will increase battery consumption.

Question How do I stop my phone from automatically disconnecting WiFi at night?

Hey guys,
I'm from India and I have an Mi 11x Pro running the latest stock global stable rom (13.0.3). I'm facing an issue where my wifi automatically turns off at night and I'm losing money because I freelance and I'm missing out on work emails. My phone automatically turns off the wifi connection from 2 to 3 a.m. to around 5 or 6 a.m.
I googled before posting here and I found a few recommendations on the internet and on reddit, but none of those recommended things exist in my phone. There is no "Scenarios" in the battery section. There is no "Enable/disable wifi automatically" in the Wifi Assistant section.
Please tell me how to disable this behavior, else I'm throwing this stupid phone away and never buying an Mi/Xiaomi phone again. This is preposterous. I've already lost hundreds of dollars worth of work, which is more than what I paid for this stupid phone.
I am finally turning to the good people of XDA to help me solve this.
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for the rant.
Check your router settings. My router under Advanced-Wireless Settings, has an option to "Turn off wireless signal by schedule" with a start and end time to disable all wireless. Just a thought, but may be worth a look.

It's not a router thing. It's a thing that MIUI does where it turns your phone's wifi off at night. As soon as you unlock the phone, the wifi icon comes up and it connects to the network and there come all the email and whatsapp notifications. There is an option to disable this behavior in the EU version of the rom but not in the Global Stable version. Morons just outright removed the option to disable it while still keeping the behavior active.
I found this...
[MEGA-GUIDE] TWEAKS and DE-BLOAT for NON-ROOTED ROMS.
Hello, There are some settings tweaks for NON-ROOT users. Setedit app tweaks : Download and Install the "SetEdit" app from playstore. Open the app and make sure you are at system table press Add new setting and type...

And I think the first option should help with my problem. I'll check it out and see if it helps. Will post here of my findings.
