Fingerprint Reader - Moto Z Questions & Answers

Hi,
the fingerprint reader can be used to unlock the phone. Wen it is unlocked and I press the fingerprint reader again it locks the phone. Some apps make use of the fingerprint reader e.g. Applocker. With Applocker it works as expected. I can unlock apps with the fingerprint reader. I also use KeePass. With my LG G5 it was possible to unlock the database with the fingerprint reader ad KeePass supports this. With the Moto Z it just gets turned off when I try to unlock a database. Here are my questions:
- Can I turn off the "turn off" feature of the fingerprint reader?
- What do I have to tell the KeePass app dev to make this work as expected on the Moto Z?
TIA

@frantek you can turn it off from:
Settings - Security - press cog button next to Screen lock - toggle Fingerprint sensor can lock phone
Enjoy

You must still be on Marshmallow then.

Yesterday I received Android 7 and disabling "Fingerprint sensor can lock phone" with as @PiousInquisitor suggested has no effect on KeePass. I think I've to talk to the KeePass dev.

There are several KeePass apps in the Play Store. Which one are you using?
Sent from my XT1650 using Tapatalk

Oh sorry, you are right: KeePass2
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=keepass2android.keepass2android

I solved this. The problem was that Keepass2 was restored by Helium. This confused the app. After disabeling and re enabling the unlock by fingerprint every thing works as expected.

never mind i accidentally clicked the "menu option" of my galaxy win/quattro and then the setting option popped out.
I know this is an old thread, but I don't think this necessarily works i.e. disabling auto-updates per individual app. I recently rooted an lg g4. As far as i know, I have had auto-update turned off, and as i saw the updates running, I checked the play-store to make sure it was off and even checked a few of the apps to make sure autoupdate was turned off and in every case auto update was turned off. and yet the updates still downloaded and updates ran. I would not even have known if I had not been awake at 3am.

[Solved] Tweak to keep watch always silhouette until tap?

Hi,
I got this watch used, arrived two days ago. I like it so far. Only tweaks done so far is unlock BL.
I want to preserve the battery life as much as possible though, while keeping it usable. So I think there is efficiency to be made by having the watch face stay as a silhouette instead of "waking up" whenever I look at it. To activate the watch, I have no problem with tapping it once or twice.
Does such a tweak exist? I could not find it in settings (only to turn screen off completely when inactive). Any prerequisites for such a tweak (e.g. root)?
Many thanks.
Are you on 5.1.1 (LCA43)? If yes, you can try disabling wrist gestures in watch settings. Of course, you won't be able to move trough cards as well if you disable it, but it will prevent the screen to leave dim mode when you move your wrist.

I tried that before (am on LCA43), but it seems to just disable the scroll. Just tried again, may have made a difference this time. Though it looks like the screen still activates 1 out of the 5 times I put the watch to my face. We shall see. Thanks!
You're correct, my bad! The setting you want is in the Android Wear app: Tilt to wake screen. You may want to keep wrist gestures on.

Found it! The guide I found had the setting on the main page. I had to tap on the actual device listing to get to the sub page with all the goodies (Google probably did it that way so you can program different actions for different watches).
Thanks again!
By the way, one day later with no charge in between. I am proud of this:

Wrong PIN - Please enter the Privacy Protection password to unlock

My new P9000 seemed to be working fine until I put in the SIM card, at which point I got this "Wrong PIN - Please enter the Privacy Protection password to unlock".
This is an indication that it's network locked, right?
What do I need to do to be able to use this phone? I'm a complete noob when it comes to flashing phones, ROMs, etc. Are there any fairly basic step by step instructions I can follow?
It seems you set up anti theft without your sim in it. Just enter your anti theft password or flash rom, deleting all data

Hey, thanks for the reply. I flashed the ROM, that didn't work.
The device arrived set up this way. Although the box was also open, so who knows what else they'd done.
You can also try 000000 as code.
Privacy protect code is a minimum of 6 digits

Hello, THANK YOU.
I created this account just to thank you for the #mima#.
I could have wasted a lot of time reinstalling the Android, but instead I wrote #mima# from my brothers device and received the anti-theft PIN on his device.
:good::good::good:
Thanks a lot!!!!
For no reason my wife's phone suddenly lock and asked for the Privacy Protection pin. Thank you so much for posting the solution. You saved a tone of time and made my wife happy again. The phone is unlocked.

Can this phone be forcibly network-unlocked?

Elephone P9000. The bane of my... week. Sitting there, smiling at me with its beautiful screen, totally unusable.

The PIN from my SIM card, doesn't work. Also 1234, 0000, 8888, 123456, 000000, none work.
I removed SIM card and reboot. Still get the lock screen to enter PIN and error message "Wrong PIN - Please enter the Privacy Protection password to unlock".
Edit: wrong forum - sorry! Mods can you move it to the P9000 Q&A forum?
I managed to eventually get to the stage where I could flash it with a new ROM, so I've just done that (very pleased)...
... and still see the network lock when I start it up.
So where to next in the unlock saga?
I've tried the local phone repair shop, had no clue
I've tried flashing a different ROM, has no effect on network lock.
Vodafone, my carrier, seems to only unlock phones they've sold.
The dodgy online unlock sites don't even list Elephone as a manufacturer
Elephone themselves don't like to answer support questions.
The seller is unresponsive.
I've no idea what network it's locked to.
I don't know what to try next. Can this phone be forcibly network-unlocked somehow?
It looks like you set up anti gheft with another sim or without it. Just enter your anti theft password or flash rom and delete all data

App Permission for firmware 23.5.A.1.291

Hello Everyone,
I"ve searched in the search box but it didn't show the result. I have upgraded my Xperia Z2 to firmware 23.5.A.1.291. When I press the Google Maps app. It asks me to allow that app permission. I press allow. The next box appears like like "Screen Overlay Detected" the attached pix

And when I tap "Open Settings" it leads me to a list of apps. From there I don't know what to do next, because, when I tap the Google Maps app in the list It leads me to App Permissions like: Contact, Location, Phone, Storage. I tap "Location", it doesn't turn green, but the box "Screen Overlay Detected" appears again. Please help. I don't know what to do.
Same here
If you use xposed, try NoOverlayWarning module.

If you don't use Xposed you have to force stop or kill app which draw overlay on screen such as messenger chathead, Lux. Before you grant permission for new app
Sorry for my English though.
If you're using an app that control brightness, like flux, or something that adds a colour filter like CF.lumen, that is your culprit, but you need to be very careful because this overlay warning is there to protect you from apps hijacking your clicks, so be careful.
I also faced the same issue of screen overlay, then I disabled all screen overlay app and then enable it one by one and then keep checking if permission is working or not, in this way I found 3 apps to be held culprit. Thats because of May security patch in 291 firmware, i did upgrade 1 app among those 3 culprit and it start behaving normally. So what I did is I mailed the other 2 guys about the issue, so that they too update their apps.
