As above, do I need to flash stock recovery and unroot my G5 to install Nougat via LGUP or can I stay on TWRP and flash V20a? I've tried to ask in dev thread but I couldn't because of my post count

When you flash a firmware with LGUp you lose TWRP and Root, so, it's the same.
Alright, thank you for quick reply I read somewhere that I need to return to stock recovery and unroot to flash V20a and I didn't know which way to flash is that proper way xD. Anyway, thank you ^^

U sound confused bro. In short, if u ever need to go to the service center just flash the original lg firmware with kdz. U get everything back to stock. stock rom, kernel, unroot
If u are looking for only the LG kernel. Im not sure but it involves the bootimg file and other technical details. U will have to ask the devs
You can't get the stock kernel if you don't flash stock rom with KDZ Updater.
P.S : WHY YOU WANT TO FLASH THE STOCK KERNEL ?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
Standalone stock rom kernel is not available. You can:
a. Restore your stock rom nand backup, or
b. Search the general thread, a stock rom nand backup has been posted, or
c. Flash stock firmware using kdz.

Firmware E97020j Download - This is JellyBean!
I found this..can someone pls tell step by step on how to get this??
I have an unlocked Lg Optimus G e970 which is running on official ICS..pls tell me how to get the JB..
Do i need to root my phone for it??
Need lgnpst for the Optimus g.
If you can't take OTA over air you may need this to update your RPM/TZ
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230994
Without updating RPM/TZ you won't be able use a lot of the newer roms. If you have no wish to use anything beside stock ics and jb 4.1.2 you may be able to get away with just following this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450258
This will give you root and recovery

You need to download LGNPST and the Bins for Creating those partitions required and installing TWRP recovery.
Now after that , simply mount this zip flashable on sd card , and flash it using recovery. If it works , then you'll be left with a rooted phone with unlocked bootloader.
If you flash the stock firmware through LGNPST , most likely you will loose rot access and unlocked bootloader.
now wat??
Okay so now I will be rooting my phone with framaroot...then Wat??? Any simple! war of upgrading the android version??
help here
I came through this app called ROM installer in play store...can I just install the stock official jelly bean through this??
Or something needs to be done before that?? Pls help

If you are only trying to update to official jb and do not need root or custom recovery you would use the file linked in your first post with lgnpst program.

Link in op is stock tot file, can't be flashed in recovery. For flashable version of 20j you would need the one by snowleopardjb.

Go to this link, disregard all TeeNybin stuff. Scroll down to Additional Info and click Show more Content box.
You will need to unzip the file from g33k3r and rename from tot to bin for use with lgnpst.

You need to be rooted to use the installer, personally I stay away from those kind of apps. You could use the file from g33k3r with lgnpst which will be stock jb with no root and locked bootloader which means you cannot modify or delete bloatware without getting security error softbrick. Or you can use the teenybin with lgnpst then flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2067871&highlight=snowleopardjb which will be stock jb with root and unlocked bootloader, if you want to delete bloat or try custom ROMs in the future you will be all set.

please help me devs......i would like to root it...either to get a stable international variant ROM.
If you intend to then flash a custom rom then don't bother rooting your stock firmware, all custom roms are already rooted.
If you want to stay stock then flash a prerooted version via odin, get a link for one on xda in general forum.

i checked the whole procedure of it as u told.... but while i am flashing CFROOT but it is showing "FAILED SIGNATURE VERIFICATION" . and the same thing for superSU ......
so...in case if i flash PHILZ RECOVERY or CWM ......without rooting........ will my phone get bricked ???...
Check out Cyanogenmod Installer follow the instrustion it will root and install the latest stable CM for your phone .
You are still missing basic knowledge, you can't flash anything with stock recovery.
Flashing recovery doesn't require root, but you can brick the phone if you don't understand what you are doing.
Hi! i was just wondering what happens when I have a mate 10 that is unlocked and is rooted and I update it through firmware finder or system update? Will it brick my phone? Or it will just simply flash a new rom and remove the root? Thanks

As far as I know FF is not working anymore for the updates. I have a M10P rooted with Magisk. Whenever is a official OTA I am flashing my original Stock Recovery, doing the official OTA and then flashing back TWRP and Magisk. That s the way I am doing it, but maybe there are other ones. . cheers

I'm not quit sure if it's safe to update via OTA if ur rooted anc currently have stock recovery though. I'm too confused at how Huawei phones work, back when I used samsung phones I could just flash stock ROM via odin and download stock firmware over sammobile. While in Huawei I'm not kinda sure how to even flash stock firmwares and or stock recovery back.

There will be no bricks if you get the OTA on rooted devices. Reading skills and some tools which you find here at XDA. To get back to Stock you will need the last Firmware you used on your phone. After download use Huawei File extractor and extract stock recovery and system.img and flash it via ADB (I am telling u the short version) . You will find all information and tools here on XDA.

Hello guys,
I am currently on LOS and planning to go back to stock ROM.
LOS was flashed over the downgraded firmware necessary to unlock the bootloader.
Would it be advisable to flash the latest stock over it or should I rather go back to the downgraded ROM and upgrade it through OTAs? Are there any partitions flashed through OTA that would be otherwise missed by TWRP?
Also, can anyone recommend a debloated, optimized Android 8 ROM for this phone?
Thank you for your time!

There are TWRP flashable zips you can use.
See the H930 KDZ thread for instructions on how to flash them.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v30/development/h930-lg-v30-european-market-h930-t3779076
Be sure to use the stable TWRP linked in the WTF thread, not the new beta experimental TWRP listed elsewhere.

Quick question please, are the ROMs in your thread upgradable through ota should LG release one?
I noticed you mentioned after each build that they're not meant to be upgraded.
I may have a case of the stupids here but does it mean that once you flash one of them you're stuck on that version?
PS thanks a lot for taking the time to answer these questions. I appreciate your help a lot ^^
