Do you guys get a sound notification when the battery is full? Besides the led that turns green from 90% onward i don't get any sound notification of display turned on when battery reaches 100 %. I have to check manually if the battery is full by turning on the display .

Fast charging, SLOW discharging. What's not to like?
I've had my Mate 9 for 2 months and today was the first time I used the included charger. It charged the battery to 90% in about 50 minutes. There is an annoying Ad Bloated lock screen when using the Huawei charger and cable. What aholes, they are making plenty of money, I shouldn't have to see that crap, even if it is only briefly.

This is what I am talking about. Never saw this fast charge screen before. The only new app I've installed is Nova Launcher, maybe it is displaying the ads?! In which case, that is okay because it is the non-Prime version.

I looked all through the Nova Launcher settings and didn't find any mention of a lock screen setting of any sort. And it begs the question, why would Nova Launcher have a lock screen for Quick Charge, Trickle Charge, etc. ?
What the hell have you done to your phone, that it shows ads on the lockscreen!? Mine is just black, with a green charging bubble circle, if I connect the charger.

That is definitely not normal EMUI behaviour. You need to go through your apps and find the culprit.

When I first plug it in I get the green charging bubble, then after a few seconds this screen shows up. Don't know what I did. Using all the same apps I've been using for years, with the exception of adding Nova Launcher a week ago.
Crazier still, I ran the Huawei cleaner and now that lock screen charging screen doesn't display anymore!

That's what's causing the ads, had it on my galaxy s5 as well and the same garbage ads so I uninstalled it

I contacted the developer of Nova Launcher and they claim they don't have any lock screen functions. Also, since I ran the Huawei cleaner that screen has gone away and hasn't returned.

Long shot but are you running apps from Cheetah Mobile / Kingsoft (Clean Master, CM Security, WPS Mobile, News Republic, etc)? If you are I strongly recommend you get rid of them. See this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/odd-behaviour-pre-installed-app-t3521031

Interesting post.
The first thing I do with any phone/computer is remove or disable every bit of crapware, which is my main reason for rooting. That includes stock browsers, calculators, HiCare, etc. I also disable data on every app I don't think should be using it and I run AdAway to minimize adware.
In any event, the mentioned lock screen completely disappeared after I ran the Huawei cleaner. Disturbing though, so I will remain watchful.

Is there a way to set the length of time the notification light will blink for? My phone will give me the notification light but then it turns off after a minute or so. So if I leave the room and come back it won't be blinking. It's when I check my phone that I see I have a message.
Is there a setting that I am not seeing? All I see under the settings for led notification are the types of messages you can set it for.
If you use a 3rd party messaging app you can do that

Mine is doing the same thing and it's extremely annoying. It seems to shut off a couple minutes after receiving a new email/text.
this sucks if true. It should blink forever until you clear the notification. OR your batter clicks over into power saving mode and disables the notificaiton light if thats even a possibility.

It doesn't...same problem with the Sensation as well.
I sent HTC an email asking if they plan on fixing the issue. Shutting the LED off after five minutes sorta defeats the purpose of even having one...

Did you ever hear anything back? From searching around, it seems all/most htc phones are doing this. If I didn't want a notification light, I'd get a nexus s 4g .
Try missed reminder from the market. If you have problems with it crashing disable gmail notification in the app.

Where exactly in the settings for handcent allows for keeping the notification light on? I have the same problem of the light turning itself off, and so I downloaded handcent, but all there seems to be is an option to just turn notification blink on/off; no set time. Am I missing something?

Thanks. I've tried several led notification apps and none seem to work 100%. I can't believe htc is making phones with led's that only flash 5 minutes. It pretty much defeats the purpose of a notification light except for those awesome 300 seconds it flashes for you.
How come there aren't more posts or fixes for this?

Yeah, but it was a canned response:

i work in a very loud shop and often go lomg periods of time without knowing i hav recieved a message. i use Missed reminder set to forever and blink time at 2 sec. my battery was still at 75% when i got home from work today. the program used 2% of my battery. worth it to me.
i think making that little led flash uses a lot less power than turning the screen on........
"It's a battery saving feature..." but it will flash the red one indefinitely when the battery is below 15%, when you need every mA of power you can get. Makes a whole ton of sense...

I tried Missed reminder, but had some problems with it or maybe conflicts other apps I had. It would start to only flash once I turned the screen on (which defeats the purpose ). I know the blinking led can't use much power, so their reasoning makes little sense. I'll give Missed reminder another go.
Fine HTC, it burns battery, but at least give me the option of having it flash until I check the notifications. That way, everybody will be happy.
This is my first samsung and I haven't figured out everything yet, I would like the display to stay on while it is charging so I can use it as a clock. My Evo always stayed on while it was charging and I could hit the power button to turn off the display while charging if i wanted to, is this possible on the sprint s3?

I used extended controls and have the control sitting in my pull down. Use the toggle "stay awake".

the reason they disabled the option is because the super AMOLED screen can be prone to burn-in and washing out. i suggest NOT leaving it on for extended times (especially if the screen is not changing images)

Good to know. I don't leave it on while charging, but I like to have my music more accessible when driving since this thing doesn't have music control on the lockscreen.
I would never, ever leave the display of any of my OLED devices on when I am not directly interacting with them.
I had bad burn in on my old Nexus One from simply having the display on while charging.
I learned my lesson then; never again.

I was decided on getting Galaxy Nexus (dat fast updates + looks), when I've read news about google decision to take SXS for AOSP.
Then I reconsider my decision, and choose Sony device as option (I haven't before, because of Sony, I mean SE past, and their sloppy or never done updates). It's actually 100$ cheaper, so it's advantage too.
I have doubts about its buttons. I haven't got chance to test it yet (but will do). Can you tell me if they are responsive or not ? I currently have Galaxy S, so comparison to it would be nice.
Also, how long battery lasts? Unfortunately gsmarena haven't done their test on blog so I can't compare.

Compared to the Galaxy S, the buttons on the XPERIA S are simply unresponsive... it requires some adjusting (swiping instead of pressing) but you'll get used to it.
Accoriding to a test from a Dutch website, under heavy duty it's battery will last about 12 hours. honestly. i never understood the fact that Xperia S buttons are unresponsive. I've never had issue with them. most people i know never complained.
then again, everyone press/touch stuff differently
If you need to be precise on the buttons, you want to try them out yourself.
in terms of battery it's alright when you recycle it after 2 weeks (let it die and recharge it to full etc) i usually get 10-12hrs normal daily basis (listening to music, surf, txt, etc)
I've come to the Xperia S from the One X, and yeah technical downgrade, but a like the SXS much more! Though the ui isn't as smooth, mostly thanks to Sony I think, the ui is cooler! Love Sony's launcher, I just hope it gets smoother with an update in the near future..
Now, the buttons! First, they will be a little weird and feel unresponsive, but after a little use they work fine. I have absolutely no issues there..
Battery is far far better them what I'm use to! I've been using my phone for bluetooth music and navigation today, which means Bluetooth on, GPS on and screen on for about 1 hour! And this is without charging.. The day is done and I have 17% left, just checked screen time to be 2.5 hours and up time is 16 hours.

buttons ain't anywhere as good as those on galaxy s, i have both the phones, sliding helps but i can never hit the buttons in landscape mode..u'll get used to it and it ain't a deal breaker
Also, the black levels are a bit of a concern, i mean it's no amoled but it has the worst black levels i'hv seen. I compared it to my lcd tv, an iPhone 4 and even some old Nokia phones, xperia had the worst black levels (coz of white magic i guess). It just bumps you when you are used to seeing an amoled screen, but on the contrary, the sunlight readability is quite good
Battery is decent, but wake locks has been a problem for me so far, but that's just a software glitch

It's not white magic but it has some similar technology which gives vibrant colours and which rom are you using, i got wake locks on stock, miui and now even on xcream, i removed com.sony.wakelock and sony update app through titanium backup but still no luck

Removed/deactivated unused apps, used Juice Defender Ultimate, automated almost anything I can, set brightness close to 25% (and almost 0 while on dark). Enough battery to last MY day.

You don't have wake locks anymore? Juice defender stopped a lot of stuff (edge ,Wi-Fi, whatsapp) for me and i also deleted a lot of stuff, it lasts a day according to usage but wake locks still occur, it's not like it used to be in my galaxy s in stand by

For example. During night it loses about 7%, from 11 Pm to 6 Pm... But it's been a while I've not paid attention. About Juice Defender, you need to set it up better, so it don't do what you don't want it to do. The first days it always disabled my WiFi when I simply locked the screen. But if you do the right settings on the Advanced option, it will be really good. It claims to save from x1.70 to x2.40...

What is wake lock? When you unlock your phone, you can use it, but screen is all black ? I did happen to me once or twice on Galaxy S, but that's all. Is this a common issue with SXS?

wake lock produces battery drain by unnecessarily putting the phone in "awake" mode when it should be in deep sleep. Some of my experiences with miui and the current .58 rom (it gives around 5 hrs of display time but the wake locks are still there)

I've noticed a crazy unlock delay, but only when it's right after locking it (sometimes I shut off my screen and am like "Oh wait! I totally forgot to do X). When I go to turn the screen on, it stays black for awhile, and then shows an unresponsive screen for second or so before unlocking.
Sometimes it's just an extra second, other times a good 5-10 seconds. However, if I lock the phone and leave it alone for even 20-30 seconds, the screen turns on immediately. Has anybody else run into this? Is this normal?

I use the tap to wake feature a lot and sometimes when I tap it it doesn't do anything and I end up tapping it again and sometimes again after that. On my note 4 I used the wake lock app on it because Samsungs are known for slow wake and I'm using that app now too. It's in the play store. Now the tap to wake never fails. Granted your phone never sleeps but I like it better that way and it seems more responsive too. Could be placebo but I think I actually get better battery life with it because when you wake your phone out of deep sleep all the components are firing back up whereas here everything is always ready. Hmm thanks for the tip I'll give it a shot! I guess I figured with the always-on display enabled that it should be able to wake pretty quickly? I do hibernate my apps with Greenify so maybe that's affecting it. But I only get like 3 hours of screen on time even when hibernating my apps.

Sweet. Took the plunge and went for a factory reset, and it completely solved the issue. Im thinking it was Verizon's security update they pushed to my phone the night that I was setting the thing up. SO relieved
Oh wow. Made my battery life amazing too. I unplugged for 5 hours and still only at 86%
Well that's great. Waiting for sprint to drop their update and I'll probably do the same.

I see the charging indicator and percentage is always on now when the Tab is charging, is there a way to get the clock on as well? Like the phones? I saw a thread about developer options, but that just keeps the screen awake.
I was wondering if it can show the charging battery percentage, why can't we show the clock?? Am I missing something?

"Always on AMOLED" has all needed features like "Auto movement" and "Time Rules".
However, there is always the risk of burn in!
You should use AOD intermittently.
