I did not use reminders note 3 pro but what do u you lack on this phone. Le 2 max has nut 3.5 mm audio jack, no SD card slot. In my opinion it would be only cpu upgrade.
If I help you please express it.

The Le Max 2 has more RAM, a much faster SoC, better camera, better display. For $250 it's a no brainer, and it's gonna be a massive upgrade over the Redmi Note 3 Pro.

Plus quickcharge 3.0, faster UFS2.0 storage and faster DDR4 RAM. Arguably better build too.
im think about getting the 6gb model when it drops below $$300

Honestly don't think the extra RAM will make any difference. Never come close to not having enough RAM with 4GB. But it's worth the extra spend just to get 64GB storage instead of 32GB.
People keep talking about the lack of 3.5 mm. The phone comes with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter and it outputs great sound, so what is the issue?

Fully agreed. 4GB will be enough even after 1 year from now, but 32GB will not be if you store videos/music on the phone. 4GB/64GB is the best option in my opinion, regardless of brand/phone.
And if you are willing to wait enough, maybe you can get Pro3 for this amount. The 0.2" for the smaller screen make it much easier to handle (I've had 1s before Le Max2), the build quality seems better as per the reviews and the gold (closer to true gold) color is easier to get, same as the rose gold for the Le Max2. When I bought it (a month after release), the grey option was quite hard to find, and a few months later, the price dropped to ~250$ while I've paid 400$ for it.
I upgraded from Redmi Note 3 Pro to Le Max 2. I agree with most of what others wrote.
Le Max 2 is such a high quality device. Got 4Gb Ram version and am so happy with my decision. Using CN stock rom and it works so good that I don't have any intention to flash custom Roms or enabling root access. It's that good of a device for my needs. In all aspects and functions I use daily.
Hope I helped. Cheers
I would not swap. Simply because of software. I am really angry at myself for jumping the gun on this phone really early without knowing how the software will be like. the official firmware lacks and all custom firmware doesnt support all of the nice hardware the phone has.
If I could decide today, I would not buy it again.
Would like to know what the issues are that people have with the eui software. Almost every reviewer seems to slate it without giving any concrete examples of what they find so wrong with it other than "There's no app drawer" or "It has a useless live TV button" or "The quick settings have been moved to the multitasking tray at the bottom". Well, the first two are just related to the stock launcher. If you don't like that, it takes about three seconds to install a launcher more to your liking. Not an issue worth complaining about. As for the quick settings being in a different place, frankly who gives a damn. It takes a day or two to get used to and then you can get on with using it pretty much exactly the same as ever.
I also don't understand why people complain. The software is mature an everything works stable every day of use 24/7.
I respect those that prefer different ROMs and yet coming from other phones - Nubia z7 mini, Redmi Note 3 Pro - I got tired of flashing, modding and meddling with my phone.
As it is right now - LeMax 2 is the best phone for the money. All those worldwide working band frequencies, amazing display, ultra fast storage, memory and CPU/GPU, stellar sound quality and two satisfactory cameras.
If you want to throw money for a device that will perform mostly the same functions for more money - then go away and do it. This is a Smartphone and its primary function is to perform phonecalls so every other function you get should be considered a bonus.
Buy more expensive brands and pay for their marketing campaigns included in the price. All top brand phones cost around 160 USD to mass produce. Why pay more for a thing that will become "old" in 6 months or less?
I bought it to do phonecalls and the hardware and software performance is excellent. No letdowns whatsoever.
Need a camera - buy a dedicated one, need better software - build your own ROM etc.
OP asked if this would be a good trade from a lower tier device and it definitely would be a step up in every way.
I know as I sold RMN3 Pro to get Le X2.

I want to buy le max 2 today. But heard that it has heating issues. Does it ?
What other issues does it has. If it has issues ,please suggest another similar phone.
i dont know where u hear that this phone have heating issues its a lie
you can get this phone for 190$ from aliexpress for the 32gb you cant get better deal then that for sd 820 and 4gb ram
No heating issues but fp issues
No heating problem at all. In fact, it is temperature wise, the coolest phone I have ever used.
The fp sensor is not perfect, but it is not as bad as some people had said. Just stick with the stock ROM.
The phone is good. It has no heating issues. But the fingerprint scanner is a hit or miss, I would say 50% chance it works and 50% chance it works not or really bad.

As already said some finger print sensors fail in hardware manner. No SD card. Many battery saving techniques cause problems with notifications. Quick Charge works OK, GPS works OK. Ask more specific questions.

For this price you can't get better phone
Can I update this to Android 7? Is there an official update for this?.
I did comparison ,found this camera, display better than OnePlus 3 ..My only concern is update to Android 7 and customization.
Also does rooting void any warranty? Does it Knox kind of stuff on it?
1) If your only concern is Android 7 and customization, there is one sure answer: Google Pixel or Pixel XL.
2) If you want to spend around 220-230$ for a phone, this is one of the best at this price.
3) If you have a little bit more money, get the OP3 if you have nothing against Amoled. Still I think that a 5.5 inch display phone is handled better than a 5.7.
Keep in mind that you can't buy a Dacia Logan and expect it to drive like a C-Klasse. These being said, check your priorities and act accordingly, there are plenty threads here with what is good/bad about this phone. Check the threads of your other options and decide for you. Maybe Le Max2 is very good for me but not so for you, or maybe you'll find OP3 a good one but I might not stand it's display.
Different folks, different strokes.
I currently own a nexus 6. This would be my second phone.. didn't want to spend too much money hence didn't think about pixel and also want a dual sim phone.
I will go through the threads..i did go through the reviews online and found OnePlus 3 and le max 2 were similar spec, performance wise.
I like the Android 7, so if Android 7 was available for le max 2,my search for second phone would have been over.
I would suggest to go for op3 for better development & overall support.Fp is Awesome on op3 & Nougat is already there

The price is 2 to 1, might as well get a Samsung S7.
what about the Zuk z2 at 160 dollars ? or still x820 is a better choice? The 5.7" does not matter to me.
Looks like a good option, although on aliexpress I could find it at a min 180$, but still is ok. Now it depends if development is better than on X820 or not...
I was able to get the rose gold (pink) version of the LeMax2 for $195. Anyone have a cheap source for gray?
I can get it for 176€ from BangGood, so should I get it or wait for Le Max 3? I kinda need new phone, because I have unjailbreakable iPhone 5, that cannot even play 1080p videos So Le Max 2 seems a great bang for my buck. But how's the battery life? I plan to use it lightly/moderately (I can get most of the day with this ****ty iPhone without playing any games).
Thanks in advance!
No
Definitively yes, for this price is the best phone, i have one from Banggood, its super fast phone with good screen, good audio, good camera for this price and fingerprint sensor
I suggest you buy Le Pro 3? Why? There is better battery, better processor, smaller and with full HD screen you can work longer on one battery charging. It's my opinion
It is best phone

strongly recommended, i have it one week ago, I'm so satisfied.
I think it is not a major difference will be with max 3.
I would recommend it if you're coming from an iOS device because several of it's functions are modeled after iOS. You may want to look into flashing a custom ROM, but the stock one works fine. It just has a handful of bloat software. If you use a launcher like Nova Launcher, you can hide all of it.
Just don't buy it. The phone is basically a prototype, has alot of problems and production errors.
The chance that you get a fully working perfect device is 1/5 I would say. Ive had 3, yes you heard that right THREE le max 2 because they all had problems or broken parts. DO NOT BUY
i'm not ok with you, i have one and i think it's really a good smartphone for the price, good quality for value

That is a shame, I bought the mobile and was wondering, is the problems caused by specific variants with the mobile, maybe we can spot a correlation between this, so if you don't mind could you please show how much RAM and ROM those mobiles had, thanks.
I got Le Pro 3 it's good phone with insane battery life, it's beast that blast everything in its way but you pay $100 more.
Le Max 2 is dirt cheap $189 at Banggood, just be ware this phone is a bit big and bulky if you are ok with that. I saw it got few custom roms if you like flashing them. It's crazy price, I ordered one may be I will use it to watch youtube stuff. I think people burn money more than $200 monthly for nonsense stuff so give yourself a treat and support LeEco, thank you.
Hello,
I've seen the 64GB version going for cheap and I was wondering if it's still a good buy.
The most important item to me is the camera, I've read that there's still bugs with Nougat roms, have those been fixed? Decent pictures and good video recording are important to me, even if it means staying on 6.0.
I can live with a subpar battery life compared to other phones, I use the phone for music and camera mostly.
I've heard issues of quality control, is this true?

in my opinion, this mobile is really worth, it has a balance of features. music with (Dolby Atoms + CDLA) are great, the camera is nice but not perfect as new Samsung mobile, the battery is good. performance is great.
If you live in Europe, try to avoid X829 as that does not have B20 support, so most probably you'll not be able to get 4G. All the phones are the same almost X820 X821 X822 X829, only thing is B20 for the latter. They are almost unbrickable and looks like development is still going. Fingerprint sensor is a hit or miss for some, for me it's ok (not great) and it has been so for the past 16 months.
Although the company is dead, there are still the custom ROMs... But that means no more official support.
I remember when I bought it that alternatives were Axon 7, Zuk Z2, Mi5... But I ended up with LeMax2 and it's not a bad decision.
Conclusion: it's still worth buying if you're on a tight budget, otherwise look for something with SD835.

Using my X829 here in europe without any problems . 4G all the time full signal. A friend has the X820 and we don't have any difference in 4G signal
In the UK the O2 network uses B20, so no 4G. The Three network uses B3 & B20, so some 4G.
it depends on where you are living. no b20 doesn't mean you have no 4G at all, just not on that frequency. you can google that.
is it worth buying? in general yes, it's all in all on par with samsung s7. but... there are quite a few devices which have hardware failures out of the box or after a short time. here is what i gathered: dead fingerprint sensor, "screen flickering" from time to time, polarizer damage on display, screen has stripes, hardware failure where the phone can be flashed but wont boot (seen on x829 only), wifi and bt not working after short time (x829), camera focus stuck, ir sensor unresponsive (rare), touch screen unresposive in some areas, dead pixel on display.
if it works, it's still a decent phone for cheap. also spare parts are very cheap. of course, we wont see any official os update, thats a pity but there are aosp roms in active development.
if you buy it, i would recommend to either buy it from a vendor with good return policy or buy a used one and ask the seller if everything is 100% working. under this conditions, i would buy it again. i still love it, have 2 of them.

I have no problems with camera on lineageos. I don't know about original ROM. Never used it. I don't understand what is the problem with it. The camera is NOT as good as my Samsung NX300 systems camera. But that was probably to be expected When I use max2 camera, I can see the OIS function doing it's thing and it focuses fine and takes sharp pictures.
I have a friend who told me the same thing about the camera that he heard camera is not good. He apparently watched some YouTube videos. He is also very very picky. But I have max2 with lineage and he came to my place and compared my camera photos and video with his iPhone 7 and then decided buy max2 (and bought it). (We didn't test the camera with original OS, but I asked him and he will test it)
With another iPhone 7 user we compared sharpness of photos and they seemed equal.
So, I guess if iPhone 7 camera is good enough for you, you should be fine.
Thanks to all for the replies.
I'm looking at the Le Max 2 because I've been in the Mediatek SoC world for the last 5 years and I've grown, despite the good efforts of a few developers, tired of the lack of software updates for the Mediatek devices, so I've decided to jump on the Qualcomm ship. Not willing to spend more than 250 euros on a device, and options are very limited: either the Max 2, a Redmi Note 4, Mi 5/Mi5s (a bit harder to find and more expensive) or wait and see what the Redmi Note 5 looks like when it comes out. The Max 2 looks great for what you're paying. High-end SoC, even in 2017, very good camera, community development, for under 200 euros.
I've noticed the lack of band 20, but I'm not a heavy data user, I think it's something that it's nice to have, but all long as I'm able to make calls in 2g or 3g, I'm happy.
I've also noticed the camera quality and it's a step up from Mediatek, very detailed images, plus there's camera2 api which Mediatek don't have. Also the hacked google camera might come in handy as well. At first I thought it wasn't going to be good because the sensor is a bit old, but no the pictures I've seen actually look pretty good. Plus the microphone is a bit step up for video recording.
Again, some compromises have to be made, ideally it would've a headphone jack and band 20, but it's budget-priced phone, I'm okay with those compromises.
Major concern is just the quality control, some people have no complaints others have horror stories about Le Eco. But it seems to be a minority.
Again, thanks to all who replied.

Why not buy the LeEco Le Pro 3? It's on sale for just €170.14 (using coupon code '11bgx727') https://www.banggood.com/LeTV-Leeco...on-821-Quad-core-4G-Smartphone-p-1185176.html
You get official Paranoid Android support(!!) and flagship performance (SD821, 64gb UFS 2.0, 4gb ram, 4070mAh battery) at a ridiculously low price. Bear in mind this is the US version (x727). For more information, check out the LeEco Pro 3 forum here at XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/le-pro3.

It all comes down to personal preference. My Le Max 2 shipped with the 'black spot in the camera lens' issue and is currently being repaired under the warranty. That being said, I very much enjoy the phone.
Hi guys,
I have been using an elephone p7000 since I bought it on their launch promotion. The lack of rom support and a few issues have finally made me consider a new phone. The Le Max 2 seems the best value for $180 USD for the 32GB version. Should I be looking elsewhere?
Thanks

Bought it recently, came from a Mediatek device, and I'm happy with the move.
If you're OK with no headphone jack, I would say it's definitely worth it. Camera is a BIG upgrade to me, if that's important to you. Rom support is also a step from any Mediatek device (for obvious reasons). Build quality is very good, battery life is also good considering it's a QHD screen, screen itself is OK in terms of colour reproduction, no issues with outdoor sunlight. Just installed Lineage OS 14.1 and it's working great.
Maybe pay a bit more for the 64GB version if you need more space.

Nope display is not fine and by display i mean colors. The colors on custom roms are way too much saturated. If you use any different phone from different vendor for 2-3 weeks then the colors of leeco starts annoying. Even the colors on the stock rom is not good, it is better compared to custom rom but still not so accurate.

And support doesn't only means software support(never said anything about warranty). If some accident happens with phone's hardware, may it be screen, camera glass or any other hardware part then you cant get anything original to repair it. You have to opt for some different low quality hardware for which you will be charged quite the same as original one. So if anyone is going to buy anything new, its better not to buy anything from a closed company

Lol so basically he should even let his 190€ go to waste. And no problem in it is solvable, like the colors are over saturated, repair that. I have a redmi note 3 too. And guess what i use my note 3 as primary device cause this phone even in a custom rom slower than note 3. Yes on reality it should be more faster and should produce more nice results even in terms of gpu but when i install same thing on this phone and note 3,note 3 installs it faster. When i play war robots, this phone will make me wait more 2-3 seconds even when the timer has ended to start the match, no such problems in note 3. Lets agree to disagree that this phone has better chip but its not good because the implementation of the chipset is bad, a 2k resolution burns up all the battery and takes a whole lot of cpu and gpu.
Try some other phones with 650 or above chipsets from some other companies, you would know what i am referring to. This phone just doesnt performs as a 820. And one of my friend recently got a mi A1 and guess what, its camera is better compared to this one. I never thought that can be possible so i tested it for 15mins and mi A1 won.
And dont waste your money, better buy something else if you want to use it for 2 more years. This phone wont get any far even with development on xda. While the new phone which are released nowadays will get development for more than 3-4 years as after all this phone is already 1 year old. I would say go for honor 9i,its chipset would be even better compared to sd630 as kirin655 was better compared to sd625

Okay copied whole of it

Lol so basically he should even let his 190€ go to waste. And no problem in it is solvable, like the colors are over saturated, repair that. I have a redmi note 3 too. And guess what i use my note 3 as primary device cause this phone even in a custom rom slower than note 3. My colours are fine, and workspeed isn't slower than on similar devices (one plus), there are enough vids on YouTube. I agree that missing spare parts are a problem, but the situation wasn't different on my last phone, which was a popular mainstream device.

So now you tell it yourself that after a year when this phone is already 1 year old with no support of hardware, will you recommend it to buy someone. Will you yourself buy it at this point of time when the next year is so close and next year's mid range phones are coming here whose camera will beat it without any doubt and also they will get better hardware support and better software support from xda.
I would say he should wait this year or should go for coolpad cool 6 as it sports a nice camera with 653 soc. But this is way too outdated.
The main problem is, this phone hasnt sold much due to which even the support from xda is not so huge as compared to redmi note 3(speaking from personal experience) which came early than it but have been sold twice more than le max 2. Basically the one which sells more gets more support from xda afterall the devs do want their work to be appreciated by more people

There are more than enough good ROMs on XDA, I really don't know why you wish more support. I would never buy a phone with a 6xx soc if I can get an 820 for the same money. The 1440p display is great for VR, but you are right, in daily use you probably wont notice a difference, it's just nice to be able to say "retina? haha now that's some low res ****". So I would recommend it, but only if you like to play around with different ROMs, flash tweaks, etc.
If you want to have a phone ready to use out of the box you should take another one.
I guess it depends on where you are and how cheap it is. I bought mine from ebay(US) for $200 (64 GB version). Had mine for a few months (its an x829) and I've had no issues with it. Fingerprint scanner works(though sometimes it does requiere more than 1 try, no screen flickering issues. The phone itself is not bad, ive flashed a couple of custom roms but always end up going back to modified stock. I would definitely recomend this phone, or the LE pro 3. Good bang for buck on both of them. Sure, we might never see official nougat but that doesnt bother me at least.

In stock rom this phone's power is way too low. Not even close to a 650 on custom rom

Dunno, I do some gaming and havent noticed lag on my emulators (ppsspp, epsxe) or in heavy games (I played unkilled and dead trigger, as well as a few MMOs.) I use crisballgreece rom with AKT profiles so whenever i play i use performance profiles. For me, the phone is ok, but only if you can get it cheap. The pro 3 is less than $200 on amazon US. Snapdragon 821 but the camera is a bit worse and screen is a bit smaller.

Yes i am not denying that the phone isnt best at its price rate but one shouldnt go for it majorly because the colors are oversaturated compared to other phones. Brightness is not so high as it should be. Stock rom is best but performance in it sucks. Also its already 1 year old phone so even the support from the xda will get less. So he should better buy something of this year or wait 4 or 5 more months to get hands on the good phones from next year

Hi XDA!
Please excuse me if I haven't chosen the optimal forum to post this question on XDA. I'm happy for an admin to move it if there is a better place for it.
I'm wondering what the best smartphone is for under $200 in 2020? My requirements are:
* Decent camera
* MicroSD slot
* Headphone jack
* Unlockable bootloader
* Min 4 GB RAM
I would prefer a smaller phone but it seems phones under 6" are rare these days. It'd also ideally have a removable battery but I realise that is another feature missing from nearly all modern phones.
The best phone I've found so far for my budget that meets my requirements is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8. Might there be something better out there at a similar price point?
I post on other forums including phone forums and everyone who has bought a Xiaomi love them

I've spent 2 days looking now and I haven't found anything to seriously compete with the Redmi Note8 on features vs price. The nearest seems to be the Moto G8 plus but it costs ~50% more.

I'm almost certain my next phone with be a Xiaomi
I've edited my first posts requirements list to say I want at least 4 GB RAM.
The only thing I'm not seen keen on with the note 8 is the notch. Why do phone manufacturers have to copy everything Apple does? At least it has a headphone jack and MicroSD slot so its not full-on Apple cloning.

I never use Stock launchers so that's not shouldn't be an issue. A lot of people like Nova Launcher but I still use my old Holo Launcher on Android Pie and Android 10(Q).
:good:
It looks like it might be worth spending the extra £50 to get the Redmi Note 8 Pro for the extra 2 GB RAM.
I Am Looking for Same under $500. like Samsung will fine for me.
Smartphone below $200
Check out Infinix Note 7, releasing soon, you get decent specs for your money. 6.95 inch screen, 64GB 4GB RAM, Quad cameras, microSDXC slot, headphone jack, Fingerprint sensor, 5000mAh battery.
