is it true that newer versions of MIUI blocks EDL mode? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

i read that mi5 cannot use EDL mode, wondering if its the same for redmi note 3

May be then we need to use deep flash cable in this case

its probably because EDL flashing doesnt need an unlocked bootloader which is not really good for your devices security since any one can flash fastboot roms via EDL mode and reset your device unlike fastboot flashing!
but i have flashed new MIUI versions via EDL and there was no problems!

Not Able to Flash using FastbootMode

Hello guys,
I am using kenzo, and my bootloader is officially unlocked, today i tried flashing miui rom using miflash beta tool on my 32 bit system in fastboot mode, it shows flashing started and done in just 1-3 seconds and success message appears but when i flash using edl it successfully flashed.
Am i doing anything wrong? Or is there any other way of flash using fastboot mode (unlocked bootloader officially)?
Thanks in advance

You are not supposed to flash in fastboot mode!!!! For MiFlash to work, you need to get your phone into EDL (Emergency Download) Mode, the one in which the screen shows nothing and only the LED blinks in RED.
Connect your phone to PC in that EDL mode, and then open MiFlash. And as far as I remember, you need to have a 64-bit windows to run the latest MiFlash.
If u connected successfully, click on the Refresh button, and it will show something like COM1/COM2... etc. Then CLICK on Flash.
Have u tried with latest version of miflash tool..try it properly...?or u can flash it through cmd...just google it for the commands.. Try at ur own risk...I am happy with edl on miflash 15.something

I don't think there is any other way other than the EDL method for flashing official ROMs.
I just wanted to know that is there any method that helps flashing roms using unlocked bootloader because there are lot of guides on internet saying flash rom with locked bootloader so i wanted to know is there a plus point in flashing roms with unlocked bootloader
If you have unlocked BL you can flash via twrp or fastboot or EDL, so three options...
EDL if others two dont work
Look fastboot & recovery both are there for a reason,
What i feel the priority of recovery is 1st for flashing almost anything
(If Modem/Firmware or anything else seems to have causing the problem)
USE fastboot & if you are hardbricked or can't figure out what you are missing only then head over for EDL.
But don't EDL>>Fastboot>>Recovery
Now to address your questions more specifically
Loked Bootloaders are good for Security but not friendly when you are a TWRP addict on the other hand Un-Loked Bootloaders puts the responsibility of security on your hands allowing you to modify whatever partitions or files you want to change on system.
With a loked bootloader you may flash a rom but sooner or later you will realize its better to have it unloked if u love to be a tinker.

I use miflash tool bro

stuck at boot - but why

hi there,
i have got a redmi note 3 pro that keeps stuck in bootloop.
Tried:
- boot to fastboot
- fired up miflash
- rebooted phone to edl
-miflash recognized phone
- flashed "kenzo" fastboot rom (tried global stable + kenzo_global_images_V7.1.8.0.LHOMICL_20160129.0000.14_5.1_global + chinese stable)
phone remains stuck in bootloop after restart.
Is there something I am missing? Please help me out.
(I guess bootloader is locked, not my phone)
when in fastboot mode, check the state of your device (make sure you have fastboot installed):
-connect device to pc
-open cmd
-type "fastboot oem device-info"
once you know the bootloader is unlocked, open miflash tool and flash the stock ROM. I don't see you need to go to EDL mode. Miflash is for fastboot mode!
how did you not knowing the condition of your bootloader? you should know it in the first place before you do such things.
oh, and make sure the directory of your rom image doesn't have spaces in it (example: C:/Users/Ivan Kurnia/...) (be safe, move it to like C:/Desktop) otherwise it will only take 1 second to flash the rom (which flashing didn't happen)
Thank you for your ideas, I still dont know if bootloader is locked or not, because it is not my phone, I was just asked to help.
However I managed to flash TWRP, now everything is good.

Yes I flashed TWRP in edl mode, then flashed new Rom via TWRP
How to root tedmi note 3
Flash lastest MIUI using MiFlash.

my xiaomi is totally bricked when flashed TWRP

I fixed a prior problem with my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro where there was no recovery and only went to fastboot, Went to into EDL mode and fixed the problem...
I tried to flash TWRP custom on my phone. I had USB debugging on and OEM unlocked. i tried to go around having the bootloader locked and flashed a file specific for going around Xiaomi bootloader locks and having TWRP as the recovery. So i went into EDL again trying to flash TWRP and ended up having EDL on my phone "permanently". I cannot afford a new phone. I REALLY NEED HELP recovering my phone while also having TWRP as the new recovery... :crying:

Can you reboot back into recovery?
Why would you have the bootloader locked? You should unlock the bootloader.

No I can't go into recovery or fastboot. It's stuck in EDL mode...
The bootloader used to be unlocked but it somehow got locked while flashing the stock rom because i was recovering my device from a past brick.
Officially unlocking the bootloader takes too long and is too hard...
is anyone going to help me?

Bricked xiaomi redmi go

Hi guys, I'm new here and I'm looking for a solution for this device, xiaomi redmi go, which is bricked and has bootloader blocked, so I can not flash the stock rom By fastboot mode in xiaomi flash Tool, so I tried edl mode, and also couldn't flash any rom I downloaded, and the device is only recognized by older versions of xiaomi flash Tool In edl mode. I could not access the miui forum to download the rom because it is apparently down Then I downloaded it from other sites. Thanks in advance to anyone who wants to help me.
P.s: all versions of the roms i found on the internet are before or after the version on the device, So I want this version that is on the device:
tiare/8.1.0/OPM1.171019.026/V10.2.5.0.OCLMIXM

Redmi 10c bootloop issue

so yesterday as I was flashing a custom rom for my device I found out that the hotspot wasn't working, I've look for solution across the internet and have found out that flashing persist.img on persist partition via twrp shall do the work, I did the same as instructed in the post downloaded the same file which I didn't confirm if it was really for my device, so after that my phone is stuck on an endless bootloop if I try to reboot to system luckily both fastboot and recovery was still accessible so I tried flashing another rom, stock, and even run flashrom.bat via fastboot but that didn't seem to fix it, now I'm only left with flashing stock img via miflash tool and hope it work for me, I can't really afford to pay anyone to fix it not at the moment and I want to atleast try to troubleshoot it somehow, what other options am I left with? hope I can get some answers

thanks, it was nervewracking as miflash failed to boot my phone twice, it turns out I just have to flash persist.img from the fastboot rom separately on orangefox and that did the work
