hi everyone,
this is really strange! i'm trying to flash my Xperia X F5121 (single sim) using flashtool , but it doesn't recognize it as the Sony X Series are not in the devices list... please check the screenshot i included below. and BTW, im using the latest Flashtool version, downloaded 2 days ago from it's official page!
PROBLEM SOLVED!
the issue was that when i installed the latest version of Flashtool, it didn't update/refresh the "devices" folder that contains the latest Xperia series, but instead it kept the old one which has the Z5 series as the latest added devices. this is the reason Flashtool was not seeing my Xperia X as recognizable device.
SOLUTION:
What i did is, i installed Flashtool in another laptop (for the first time). when it created the "devices folder" i went there and i was surprised seeing all X series included, also my X was finally recognizable.
very easy step... i went to C:\Users\Username\.flashTool\devices, then I selected all the X series folders.. pasted them in "devices" folder of my old computer, and this is is. It was able to recognize my Xperia X. (of course all drivers MUST BE installed)
For the FSC error in Nougat ftf...
what I did is, i went to "F51XX" folder, and then did the rename under any ftf file you wish, and make it look like that: "F5121_34.2.A.0.273.fsc" then Flashtool will notify you that a NEW FSC detected, then there is a msg will popup just click on continue, and it will fully flash a new fresh Nougat firmware...
special thanks for anyone who have contributed in helping me in here.
special thanks to @josh_zombie for explaining how to skip the FSC error...
thanks for you all
I think this is because your device is not connected in debug mode. You can enable by tapping on the build number a few times then enable debug mode.

in flashtool folder the Xperia X is not listed in the Xperia driver list!
The drivers for the x are out in the wild, you'll need to google for the drivers and install them manually.

Yeah, but you must install 2 drivers for the flashtool. And the other driver with the companion prog.

You misunderstood! Flashtool don't recognize your device becouse your driver is wrong, version of Flashtool doesn't matter. I use Flashtool 2 years old and that now? I have no problem with flashing any ROM... Flashtool is just instrument for flashing, but installed driver recognize your device

no my driver is correct, i downloaded it from Sony website.. but i think it's Flashtool problem!
even when i browse ftf firmware for Xperia X Flashtool doesn't recognize it.... it's downloaded by Xperifirm and the bundle was created in Flashtool itself but when it comes to browse .... it doesn't see it at all!
Here's the driver pack i use for mine.

well, i also downloaded and installed the same drivers... just a question to make it more clear... when you use flashtool or if you already used it to flash, didn't pop up a menu asking you to enter the model name in the list?
for me it did because flashtool didn't recognize my Xperia X and as i said. it wasn't listed!

Yes it asked me to install drivers too, all you need to do is follow the prompts upto where it fails to find the drivers and then browse to them and install them manually then it should work fine. Have you got adb enabled across your entire system i think that helps.

ok i will try to do it again.... if you talking about USB DEBUG and UNKNOWN RESOURCES both are enabled... but if not about that, then what adb refers to?
if you can show me screenshots in how it worked for you, at least it would help me more!

What firware are you traying to flash? FlashTool is not compatible with Android 7. I have the same problem when trying to flash Android 7 on XPERIA XZ. With Android 6.0.1 I don't have problems.

Can you try this :
1 - Exit Flashtool
2 - go to x10flasher_lib folder inside Flashtool install folder and edit driverid.properties
3 - remove all lines except this one : flash1=VID_0FCE&PID_ADDE
4 - Restart flashtool
So now we can flash costum kernels even if we dont have fastboot on device right?
Doomlord you should reall make a tut for this.
Thanks in advance

those devices have hacked bootloaders to support flashing custom kernels...
since new xperia 2011 device already support fastboot there is no need to hack their bootloaders... simply unlock them... the official or unofficial way

ah ok, thanks for clarifying.
I'm new to the new mini pro so please pardon my ignorance.. I've been reading through the forum and even though it is possible to unlock the bootloader on a branded phone (like i have), it is not possible to enable fastboot on the branded phone? For people who have this problem is it going to be forever impossible to flash custom kernels?
thanks
Thanks for the info i have unlocked my bootloader with the hardware trick
so now i can flash costum kernels and roms
Thank you Doom so much

My goal is that flashtool will detect correctly how your device is connected and give the advice itself

Hey XDA Community
I had to get a replacement Sony Xperia Z Ultra recently due to a fault and have now received a new handset but i am having alot of trouble with it this time round when it comes to either flashing/rooting/unlocking
heres my previous thread i made before
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446766&highlight=unbranded
I cant for the life of me flash this new handset :S
All drivers are installed correctly, and have latest version of flashtool even updated the handset to the latest
build number 14.1.B.2.257
I keep getting the message saying error please install drivers etc etc
but the drivers are installed and correct
also i tryed to root the phone but no success as i think i read the build number i am now on cant be rooted so fair enough, i wanna flash this phone with the unbranded file in my previous thread but i seem to be stuck as i cant get the flashtool to work
is there another way
Hey hey! I got the same problem as you and guess what, it was Flashtools fault.
I installed 3 different versions and flashtool-0.9.12.1-windows worked for me!
So I recommend that you try 11, 12 and the latest being 13.
cools i did try another version but got the same crap will try other versions of flashtool

And you're 100% sure that you installed the drivers from the folder? So when you connect the phone there aren't any triangles in device manager? I had loads of trouble installing drivers and then realized I had to turn off driver signature check on Windows 8.
When I installed drivers I could flash with version 12. I really just recommend you to uninstall and reinstall. I reinstalled a couple times.
Makes me wonder why.

I disabled driver signature verification (by googling 'disable driver signature windows 8.1'), then re-installed the drivers (Flashtool-drivers-1.5-20140318.exe in my case, but you should try with the latest ones!), then it worked.
bcdedit is your friend. See this: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff553484(v=vs.85).aspx

you can find the driver in local disk C or program file where you have install flashtool, you can find file driver, and then you open flashtool-driver.exe, just follow prosedure (click next) choose your type driver and finish it until the end.
after that you just flash the phone as usual.
Hey guys!!
I had a Xperia X8 with a custom ROM. Yesterday I bought a Xperia U!
It is of the Tim , the Mobile Company ( there are so many useless apps!! ) . Now, I'd like to mod my Xperia U.
I know that there are 150.000.000 threads about this, I read them, but I'm never secure and I prefer to have some info updated, excuse me!!
So, I'd like to know if I can do some things, and yes, how to!
General info of my phone :
Number model : ST25i
Android : 2.3.7
Basement (?) ( I'm not english, I think this is the correct word! ) : u8500-49020604-R1G_EC14
Kernel : 2.6.35.7+ [email protected] #1
Build : 6.0.B.3.184
Today, I'm going to update my phone with PC Companion.
Then, I'd like to root my phone.
After, I'd like to do a FULL WIPE, so I can have a clean phone ( I think I need CWM Recovery )
I'd like also put a Custom ROM and after, unlock the bootloader ( it isn't risky on XU, right? ) and put a custom kernel.
Thanks in advice guys!!
P.S If I can these things, I must follow a specific order?
Welcome to the forum of devices of novathor which means cm based roms are bound to have bugs. Usually just follow the OP you will be fine. Remember. Whatever you do here, DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. DEVELOPERS WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKED DEVICES. Enough shouting there sorry just wanted to make my point so yeah. Upgrade to ics and just search around how to root your build of ics.

I updated to android 4.0.4, everything ok
Now I'm trying to flash a firmware without brand with flashtool, but I can't!! It says always that I need to install drivers..
But I already installed them!! I have also rebooted the PC. But flashtool doesn't recognize the drivers.. I don't know what to do!!
Do you have pc companion? My win 7 pc is fully configured to flash without qny problems but i have problems with my win xp pc.....I am still working out on how to solve the problem.

Which flashtool you have?
If you flashed with PCC driver must be already installed and functional.
So, this is what I did :
I downloaded PC Companion, then I connected my phone ; the program asked me first to reboot my phone while it was connected to PC. Ok I rebooted it bla bla bla.. the PC found the phone. After I selected SupportZone for the update. I booted the phone in flash mode and everything ok. Now I'm on Android 4.0.4.
But now I want the official firmware, without the brand. So I must have Flashtool ( I have version 0.9.13.0 ) , anyway I have Windows Ice XP v6 Service Pack 3.
Inside the flashtool folder there is a "drivers" folder, with an .exe . I started it and I selected the drivers of Xperia P , U , Sole and Fastboot and flashmode drivers. At the end, this popup :
Code:
http://i40.tinypic.com/11kf8tc.jpg
So.. ok ok and ..
Code:
http://i41.tinypic.com/2hztws7.jpg
Everything seems ok. After I rebooted the PC. Then I putted the ".ftf" on the firmwares folder. Then I started Flashtool, clicked on the bolt, "flashmode" , selected the firmware and then "Flash". Ok, it said "Preparing files for flashing".
When the instructions appears, I boot my phone on flashmode, everything seems ok but...

WTF?? Anyway I noticed that, under right, popup a message with " new hardware found " and after a bit it says " error during the installation of hardware". If I click on it, nothing appears.
And, if I click ( on flashtool ) on Devices and then Check Drivers..

Is there a possibility to force ROM installation from a zip file via twrp?
I'm trying to install a ROM for Z Ultra, but twrp gives me a message that my device is honami.
I tried flashing boot.img. Can't flash firmware because I can't enter flash mode (green light just blinks and that's it).
So is it possible to install ROM for togari despite twrp thinks its honami?
Right now I've got AOSP Nougat installed using flashboot.
I'm sick of playing with it. Just want a fully working soft on my phone.
Thank you in advance!
What did you do to end up getting this message? I know this was a common error back in the early days of the honami and z ultra when porting roms from the honami. But not very common today.
Or what .zip are you trying to flash?
What is the name of the .zip file?

Thank you for your response.
I'm trying to flash ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.6.8-20160508-togari.zip with TWRP3.0.2.0. I tried with other ROMs but with no success. Every time ERROR 7 shows up. Previously there was 4.4.2 (or something like this) running well on this device.
Can this "honami problem" be caused by the wrong firmware?

It seems like you are on a very old firmware and need to flash the latest stock rom for the togari before flashing the rom.
Download flashtool from here: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php ..via torrent is the fastest option to download the software.
Here is a video on how to use the program: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PQVTgYbg_U ...can't find a recent guide on a new version of flashtool with androxyde. But you get the idea by looking at the video..
However I have never heard of the green blinking light issue on the togari.
Here is a thread for the honami: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xper...-notification-light-It-s-at-70-80/td-p/404435

Every time I try to download a firmware I end up with "Error occurred while unpacking". Tried to create a bundle from what Flashtool managed to unpack anyway, but I've got another problem flashing firmware. No matter what firmware I flash I get this:

No matter which FW I try to flash, I always end up with this. Firmwares I tried:
C6833_14.1.B.1.532_NUT.ftf
C6833_14.4.A.0.108_Euro LTEStripped.ftf
C6833_14.6.A.1.236_R5D_O2 Pay monthly UK_1274-8332.ftf (I'm not sure if the package was made correctly due to an error while unpacking it just after downloading with xperifirm)
Driver I've got in device manager:
Sony sa109 ADB Interface Driver - the same I'm using with fastboot. Is that correct?
I really did a lot of research and tried a lot of things during last couple of days but I've got a feeling I'm not smart enough to handle this or my device is really f**ked up.
As I said at the beginning, I'm sick of it and now I'm trying to find a way to bypass the TWRP ERROR 7 (the one about honami device). Why I'm doing this is because I can flash everything with fastboot (like AOSP 6.0 and 7.0 from *.img files). I believe there is no such possibility as you didn't mention it.
About the blinking light, what I do is holding Vol- button and plugging the cable. After that in a second red light blinks, then green light blinks and that's it. Green one doesn't keep glowing but as you can see in the log, phone seems to be connected in flash mode.
Thank you so much again.
Oh, I'm on win10 x64 and always using USB2.0 to connect the ZU.
EDIT:
Ok, I managed to successfully download another firmware using XperiFirm (for C6802 this time) and the bundle created by itself after downloading process, but when I try to flash it I still get this:
31/016/2017 06:16:17 - ERROR - root : this bundle is not valid

You're using the wrong driver. There is a driver install pack when you install flashtool to be found in C:/FlashTool/drivers. Execute the file and scroll down the list to find the Z ultra. Tick the alternative. You can also tick in the flashmode driver visible somewhere in the list. Just to be sure.
Now when its finished installing the drivers. Turn the phone off. And do not boot the phone to fastboot. But to flashmode.
This is volume down and plug in the cable. Then you will see a flash of colors on the notification light and then it will shut off the lamp.
In flashtool you should now see in the log something like: Z ultra connected in flashmode.
Now go ahead and flash the ftf file again.
If this don't work. Uninstall ALL drivers related to android and start from scratch and install the drivers from C:/FlashTool/drivers to get a clean install. Or connect the phone in flashmode and go to device manager and look what you see on the z ultra.
The device should say S1 boot device. Then the correct driver is used. Otherwise its the wrong driver if it says something else.
Edit:
In the first log its says:
31/040/2017 05:40:49 - INFO - Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia Z Ultra (C6833). FW release : 14.6.A.1.236_R5D. Customization : O2 Pay monthly UK_1274-8332
But in the second log it says:
31/016/2017 06:16:17 - INFO - Selected Bundle for Sony Xperia Z Ultra (C6802). FW release : 14.6.A.1.236. Customization : Customized US
You downloaded two different .ftf files for two different models with two different customization. One for O2 in United Kingdom and the other for United States.
What model do you have? And where do you live?
Your advice about the driver was right :/ Thank you so much. Can't believe I lost so much time just because of silly thing like that.
About .tft files, I wanted to try another firmwares just to see what will happen.
Thanks again for all your help and time!
so, i wanna flash android kitkat on my xperia ultra z using flashtool, but everytime i try, i get a error like: this bundle is not valid!

forgot to point out, its not the flashtool for s1 devices or whatever, its the sony mobile flasher by androxyde
The error is for the rooting option, just wait for it to prepare the files and after a few minutes it should show you the pop up window to connect your phone and hold the buttons.
Also 9.18 had some problems I'd recommend using 9.15 for flashing Kitkat.

I wish you luck, if you've replaced your broken display before it doesn't work with custom roms. Only the stock roms and a few custom ones based on stock will work. Also saw someone using Xperia companion to fix things but you have re-lock your bootloader.
