Hi All,
Just like to ask if there is any way to make the latest version of remixOS for PC fullscreen on a 1080p HDMI output?
I have tried everything in this forum to make it work but still unsuccessful. Not sure if it is only working on the older version.
Please help!
Thanks!

What Kind of CARD.. I have AMD and I got it to use my HDMI with kernel command in Grub Boot menu
"EXTMOD=radeon" This was the command that Vioner gave me and it worked to get HDMI on my AMD video card.

hdmi output 1080p issue
I have connected my Lenovo G50-80 laptop (Intel Core i7-5500U -RAM 4 GB with Nvidea graphics -2GB) to My sharp TV with HDMI output, but the display output is not upto 1080P the screen displayed in similar to laptop screen on TV. I tried many resolution changing app but nothing worked. Is there any solution to the same. Though VGA connection give a larger output but ts still not scaled 100% on the TV.

Not exactly sure but I believe the 6th generation INTEL has issues with remix os. you can try EXTMOD=i915. That is just a GUESS!
I was fighting with 1920x1080 or 2560x1440 resolution output via HDMI, using Intel HD 505 graphics adapter and two displays.
What finally worked for me was using a cable with hdmi on PC side and DVI on display side.
Using hdmi-hdmi cable it got various results based on cable length: with 10m cable it worked but only in low resolution, using 1m cable it started in native resolution but there were very bad effects like whole screen flickering in yellow for few seconds on every window operation.

Just received my HDMI cable (http://electroniccrap.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=&products_id=27)from electronicCrap, it works perfectly. It also works as a DVI cable for connecting to business projectors (without sound of course) with a small adapter such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-ADP-3780-Female-Adapter/dp/B0018QTWH2
Great product if you need to do presentations or anything. Just be aware that most apps are fairly low resolution (ie will look pixelated) even if the tablet is outputting a full 1080p signal.
The only minor issue is the connector to the gTab, which is a bit bulkier than what is pictured on his site. This could be a problem with some cases, but it works well with mine (the FUSE).
Update 7/23:
-Cable works great on 1080p monitors and TVs.
-HW accelerated apps display at much higher resolution. Everything else is 1024x600 with poor (pixelated) scaling.
-Cable may not work on 720p TV's.
-May not display HW acclrrated 1080p properly on 720p TV even if other things work
-Audio is stereo only as far as I and others can tell. Does android as a platform even support 5.1?

Just my two cents since receiving this cable.
I have successfully used the cable on my...720p TV with a Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb rom...games designed for the tegra chip look great also...Software decoded movies suffer from ... pixelation. ...some [720p] TVs can handle the 1080p input and scale it down, while others cannot.
Lastly, playing a 1080p movie will not output to a 720p TV. For one reason or another when I played both Divx and H264 in 720p or other lower resolutions it showed up fine on my TV, however both Divx and h264 1080p movies just displayed a blank screen while they played fine on the display on the gtab.
Hope this helps some people...

Do you have to do any restarts or anything to get the video to sync?

Most (if not all) 720P TVs should be able to accept a 1080P signal and display it as 720P.
$30 seems like a lot of money for a cable.
Better than 50 for the dock just to use the hdmi

True not to mention $7 US shipping and $17 Canadian shipping.
(that said its currently on sale for $23 + shipping).

Actually the dock is $43 shipped world wide (with CC "welcome").
And beside the HDMI cable you get a supplementary charging solution, stand, 2 USB port and LAN port.
I got this cable, but it is not working for me. I have a 720p plasma and am wondering if the Gtab output does not work with 720p TVs. I know the Gtab is detecting the HDMI connection because the sound goes off on the Gtab. But on the TV, all I get is a blank screen saying no signal.
Information to add
Just my two cents since receiving this cable.
I have successfully used the cable on my 50 inch Samsung 720p TV with a Froyo, Gingerbread, and Honeycomb rom. Any graphics that are NOT accelerated by the tegra chip looks VERY pixelated, so bad its almost unusable. However watching movies on a Froyo rom using the hardware decoder look VERY NICE! Also games designed for the tegra chip look great also, ie. Riptide rush. Software decoded movies suffer from the same horrible pixelation. I have not been able to determine if the HDMI cable or the tegra chip for that matter can process and pass 5.1 audio channels, but regular stereo audio worked on my TV. If anyone knows if 5.1 channel audio can be passed I'd love to know.
Additionally, I could NOT get the cord to work on my 32 inch Samsung. I think some TVs can handle the 1080p input and scale it down, while others cannot.
Hope this helps some people and I hope we can get some graphics acceleration for Honeycomb soon...heard someone has a Notion Ink kernel with full graphics acceleration, can that be ported to the gtab?
updated op. cable works great for me on 1080 screens. yes, 30 is a lot for only hdmi. but it is compact and easy to carry compared to the dock. basically we are paying for the r&d costs. I am just glad this thing exists.
Does the cable work with honeycomb roms? And does the power have to be plugged in for the cable to work? I'm having no luck with video showing up on my tv with the HDMI cable hooked up. I running gtabcomb atm.

You needn;t plug the power in. Just connect your Gtablet to your TV via HDMI cable. But i don;t know if it is work with Honeycomb roms..
Got cable to work but you've got to have your tablet turned on before plugging it in.

G Tablet has no hdmi, You need the dock to go with it to connect hdmi Correction Thank You
I wanted to connect my samsung s3 to an old viewsonic 19'' lcd monitor (VX922) which has vga and dvi-d inputs. To do this i bought following :
1. MHL adapter (which works fine i connect my S3 to my sony tv with hdmi in)
2. HDMI to VGA convertor
3. HDMI to DVI-D convertor
I have tested each individual components and they work fine. However, when connected to this monitor i do not get any display neither in the vga mode or the dvi-d mode either. Monitor too works fine otherwise but would not work with this setup for some reason. In vga mode with the mhl/vga convertor in place it simply shows a green screen but no pictures. I checked the cable with the same monitor using my laptop and that works fine. Then i tried the mhl / dvi-d convertor option but in this case my s3 continuously shows hdmi connected / hdmi disconnected and does not work either.
I have been working on finding the issue and it seems like to me that the max resolution currently supported by the monitor is the issue. Max resolution it supports is SXGA (1280x1024) and it seems that is not compatible with S3. I wanted to know if there was to lower the resolution which is coming out of the mobile? Has anyone else tried something similar outputting video to a vga or dvi port in the past?

+1 . This one would be good to know.
Another MHL question from me.
Does the XZU support 1080p output over MHL? I have a feeling before the KitKat update that it did. With KitKat update, when I plug in the MHL to my monitor, the monitor reports a 720p signal. There was another post where someone stated you can change the resolution settings but I don't seem to have that.
I use mine with mhl latest kk build and it's 1080p I don't know where you can change the resolution. The only thing that bothers me is that the mhl 1 standard that the zu uses only supports 30hz

Thanks for the info. I tried two MHL adapters on two different monitors and both report 720p though I know these monitors will support 1080p through HDMI as I get that resolution when plugging in a monitor. Maybe something weird with the HDCP handshake? I'll try on my HDTV when I get home. Hopefully I don't have to go questing for a different MHL adapter (had to go through three to find one that would charge my phone while using HDMI out).
I have one that it charges my phone directly from the TV but the TV has one hdmi with mhl built in. If you use one that you needs 5v from charger or USB you should try the I9100(S3) mhl dongle works perfectly with our zu

Yes, same thing happens to me as well.
I bought this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321336887491 and the output is 720p 60hz.
The image is blurry and it is very annoying
If I remember correctly same thing has happened both in 4.3 and in 4.4 (rooted locked bootloader)
Hi harisled, I haven't tried it on my HT setup yet but I think I know why it is not working (at least for me) on my computer monitors. I had forgotten that the MHL 1.0 spec only allows 1080p @ 30Hz until mr.joshuanice had mentioned it. The two monitors I tried it on initially are computer monitors so they probably don't support 1080p @ 30Hz. I'm guessing the HDCP handshake (or whatever it is called) reduced the resolution to 720p @ 60Hz which is supported by my monitor. However, this causes the monitor to upscale causing the image to be blurry (like you have experienced).
I will test it on my HT this weekend which should work (I remembered testing this out a while ago). The only thing that sucks is playing games @ 1080p. As some have experienced, playing PS Mobile games at 1080p resolution makes the game really sluggish (@ 720p is great). I remembered someone had show a screenshot of a menu which allowed you to change the resolution but it may have been a different Sony phone or a different ROM.
You are right, it did output 1080p 30hz on a tv

You can enforce the output format by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* then navigate to Service tests -> TV-Out Test -> Video format. Note that "Video format" will only be modifiable when the MHL cable is plugged in.

I know this is old, but is there an option to save the MHL-Setting in the Service menu permanently? After each reboot, the screen resolution is scaled to the default settings again.
Everybody who has problems with screen resolution can simply set the resolution and fps in the service menu under "second screen" .. For that type *#*#7378423#*#* in the phone dialer
For me its not even switching to 1080p when I select it in the service menu. It says reconnect but then again its set to 720p. Xperia Z and Z2 only outputing 720p. Are they even capable of 1080p MHL?
Is it possible the MHL cable is just crap?

The Z Ultra has MHL 1.0 or most likely 2.0 since 2.0 requires 900mA and therefore an external power source is needed (which my cable has) while 1.0 only requires 500mA, which is provided through a regular USB/HDMI. Both 1.0 and 2.0 support uncompressed 1080p and Dolby 7.1. MHL 3.0 was released just a month before the Ultra hit the market, so it doesn't have 3.0, which supports 4K and some other stuff.
The Z2 and beyond have MHL 3.0, and yes, it could be your cable. Be sure that it's 3.0 for the Z2 and 1.0/2.0 for the Z.
I tried 2 MHL1.0 adapters before and the output was 720p only for my Sony Tablet Z4...
Luckily I found the MHL3.0 adapter last night and the the output become 1080P 60Hz for my projector now. Try to find the MHL 3.0 from Taobao or eBay.
Hi. Has anyone tried using a USB C-to-HDMI cable to connect Mate 10 to a monitor. How do you like it? Do apps scale well on monitor? Assuming you hooked up a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, have you tried editing a document? Thanks!
still waiting for my Mate 10! But one of the reasons for getting one is USB-C to HDMI. One thing I noted when sourcing a cable - if you use a "standard" cable you won't be able to stream Netflix/Amazon streaming due to lack of "HDCP" compliance. I got a cable that was compliant for a few euro more on Amazon. Just keep this in mind if you want to stream Netflix etc.
Does anyone know if this would work with a Surface Pro 4? The SP4 has a mini display port, so maybe with a mini display port adapter, we can connect Mate 10 to the SP4 and view desktop mode on the tablet. Would that work?

Well the cable I have purchased is the one linked below - which the manufacturer says (elsewhere) is the HDCP compliant one. I can't guarantee you that it will work though!
I am expecting my phone and this cable this week so will try out!

NOTE - this manufacturer also sells usb-c to hdmi cables that it says are NOT compliant. Only one above is one they say is compliant.

Thanks I'll look for it here in Amazon US, no problem returning so might as well try.
I tried it out briefly when I got the phone.
I used a type c to HDMI adapter, with a normal HDMI cable.
Some things I noticed:
I think this drained the battery more than anything else I've done with the phone (including gaming).
The phone was noticeable warm after the session.
My phone rebooted shortly after the desktop session. Like it crashed.
The phone states it's in reverse charge mode, like juice is also bring drained from the phone to the TV.
I couldn't get YouTube to work full screen without borders. Unless I was mirroring the phone screen (which means phone screen also remains on).
I've mixed feelings, it's early days I guess.
Ok, I am still waiting for the cable from Amazon but ended up purchasing an adaptor from Maplin.
Worked fine - as in outputted screen of phone (in phone or 'desktop' mode).
But I did notice that the screen resolution as outputted was far less than the resolution of the screen - I would have expected the 1080p display to mirror across to the TV.
It wasn't that it was bad, just blurry text and not crisp when looking at video. Whereas in the past, with a phone with an actual hdmi connection as opposed to usb-c, or indeed when outputting a media player with hdmi or casting using chromecast, the quality is perfect.
Perhaps I'm doing something wrong or perhaps the Maplin cable is not up to speed. Open to ideas.

No, normal Mate 10.
Other cable arrived and same situation. To clarify, it's fine, and perfectly watchable, just not crystal clear. It strikes me that this method seems like the usb-c to hdmi cable is simply mirroring the display of the phone rather than actually outputting the video file itself independently - as would happen with a HDMI connection as you used to get on some phones. Perhaps this is something to do with the issue.

......hope you post result of amazon cable! have a nice day!
It was amazon cable I referred to above. So same with maplin adaptor and amazon cable. Tried outputting a HD YouTube video but not much different. As I say, fine, but not as clear as would expect if you copied that file to a media player attached to a tv via hdmi
Hooked mine up with the Huawei supercharger and cable and it slowly drains the battery in desktop mode. Without charger it will suck down the battery fast. Benched with Antutu and got 175k on phone. In desktop on 30" monitor got 157k. Still faster than my Mate 9. My S8+ in Dex was just about worthless. Also with the M10 in desktop with wired mouse has zero lag. Bluetooth mouse a different story. So gaming is pretty good on a monitor.
Ok, I "solved" my problem by fluke. I would love if someone more techy than me could explain but this is what I did to fix the fact that the HDMI output looked more like 640x480 than a hi def picture.
Went to TV settings, and selected advanced, HDMI settings, and Changed HDMI "Auto" mode to HDMI Graphic mode (choice of Graphic/Video - video was default and was crap). As soon as I did this I had perfect outputted photos and videos.
According to one tv manual I found on a search:
"Graphic: HDMI input timing set to Graphic mode (PC) - The image is full scan.
Video: HDMI input timing set to Video mode. The image is over scan."
According to someone on a completely unrelated PS4 forum:
"Basically by changing the HDMI mode to graphic, the HDMI output (be it gaming console, pc, or cable) bypasses "extra" processing features of the TV that
make the game and TV broadcasts look crappy and also causes lag. By bypassing those features you will get a much clearer picture."
Either way, it's fixed. On my tv. And on a shop tv the same issue. So given that I've connected previous phones with hdmi connections a few years ago without issues, this suggests that it is something to do with how the Mate 10 outputs signals in a way that TV recognises?
Love to hear an explanation from the experts. Thanks.
Edit: someone else with a similar issue on another device - so it seems the issue is that the Mate 10 is not recognised by most Televisions as a "PC" which would correct hdmi mode to "graphics" ?
"When I switch between the Blu-Ray and the PC on two separate HDMI inputs, the TV doesn't detect that's it's connected to a PC, so it doesn't switch from video to graphics mode - which is required for it to look good as a computer monitor.
Since the TV deosn't recognize the PC and auto switch to graphics mode, when I switch from Blu-Ray to PC, I have to dig down into the menu and switch the HDMI mode to graphics manually - and then back when I go to the Blu-Ray. -- Major pain if I'm switching back and forth."
Any ideas? Is this something Huawei could fix in firmware?

It looks like its related to the TV resolution : I have the same issue (640*480 resolution) when I connect the mate 10 pro to a 4K native TV but it works perfect when connected to a full HD TV !! It's a shame as 4K tend to be the standard display, so I guess Huawei should fix it whith a firmware update. Any other solution (HDMI 2.0 cable maybe??) ?
What would be best External Graphics for Samsung Galaxy Book Go thru USB 3.0 or "C" ports?
I've tried a few USB C Hubs with embedded graphics and results were dismal with an exception of one but still has some issues, I don't care if its a Hub with other ports or memory card readers, I just want something to take the workload for my 4K Samsung monitor. Any Ideas?
You mean the Go with 4GBs RAM and the ARM CPU?
AFAIK you can't use PCIe devices on these but it's fine with a normal USB C to HDMI dock or whatever. At 4k tho I don't know what support is like but it works fine at 1080p
