Help for building dtb file - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

Hello,
To use LibreElec, I actually use a prebuild dtb file (from kszaq repository) on my Android box (Transpeed S905 2/8G + 1Gigabit LAN) but the LAN is 100Mbps instead of Gigabit and RAM memory is 1GB instead of 2.
I yould like to build my own dtb based from the original Android ROM but I am always stuck on the startup screen.
I have tried to:
- Extract the dtb from the ROM
- Change the value for Ethernet and Memory inside the dts file from the prebuild dtb
But always the same error happen
How can I build a dtb in the "correct" way?

Someone can help me?
How can i get the dtb.img from android?
I see that in uart log
Loading Device Tree to 000000001fff4000, end 000000001fffff5e ... OK
i copied the byte by dd to image. (47.8418 kb)
But it isn't working. :/

[Q] Help completing a10 allwinner kernel compiling guide

Hi all,
My aim has been to compile a kernel for an Allwinner a10 F1-LY tablet (pengpod 700) that features PS3 and other gamepad support. I can upgrade my ROM to Cyanogenmod 10 to achieve this but then the hard buttons and screen rotation stop working.
After days of searching, reading and testing, I feel like I am close but need help getting over the line. I am running a virtualbox installation of Xubuntu.
Once I have this running, I will contribute a guide with screenshots back to the community.
My steps:
0. My device is running this ROM, which is JB 4.1.1 with root and CWM 5.5 installed. The image is based on a Seby build, and modified by Magica.
1. Install virtualbox and then 32 bit Ubuntu 13.0.4. Make sure you have 3D acceleration enabled and a decent amount of RAM allocated or it will run incredibly slow.
2. Install guest additions and a shared folder with the windows host machine.
3. Install some packages for later use:
Code:
sudo apt-get install gedit git ncurses5 jre-default
4. Make a folder in the home directory to work from. Open a terminal in it and then install the kernal library:
Code:
git clone https://github.com/linux-sunxi/linux-sunxi linux-sunxi
cd linux-sunxi
git checkout sunxi-3.0
5. Install the cross compile tool chain.
Download http://www.codesourcery.com/sgpp/lite/arm/portal/package7853/public/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/arm-2010.09-50-arm-none-linux-gnueabi.bin
Install with:
Code:
sudo ./arm-2010.09-50-arm-none-linux-gnueabi.bin
6. Setup kernel config.
Code:
make ARCH=arm sun4i_crane_defconfig
make menuconfig ARCH=arm
The second line opens up a GUI for configuring the kernel, where I activated the following options using here as a guide::
Code:
--- Networking support <*>
Bluetooth subsystem support --->
<*> HIDP protocol support
Bluetooth device drivers --->
<*> HCI USB driver
[*] HID Devices --->
Special HID drivers --->
<*> Sony PS3 controller
<*> DragonRise Inc. game controller
[*] DragonRise Inc. force feedback
<*> Pantherlord/GreenAsia game controller
[*] Pantherlord force feedback support
<*> GreenAsia (Product ID 0x12) game controller support
[*] GreenAsia (Product ID 0x12) force feedback support
<*> SmartJoy PLUS PS2/USB adapter support
[*] SmartJoy PLUS PS2/USB adapter force feedback support
I'm not sure if my thinking is correct here, but I went through the config and changed any modular options to included, to avoid the need for additional files to be copied to the device.
7. Compile kernel:
Code:
make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=/root/CodeSourcery/Sourcery_G++_Lite/bin/arm-none-linux-gnueabi-
This runs for a long time and will eventually produce a zImage file in the linux-sunxi/arch-arm-boot/ folder.
8. Get original boot.img from device.
To do this I booted into recovery mode and used the backup feature. This made a folder on my external SD card with boot.img and other archives. I then copied boot.img to the shared folder on my windows host.
9. Split original boot.img into zImage and ramdisk, replace zImage
Make a new folder in your home directory to keep this clean. Copy the original boot.img into this folder.
I downloaded and unzipped Adi_Pat's scripts from here. into the new folder.
The boot.img file will be unpacked with:
Code:
./extract.sh
Your zImage will be in kernel/zImage
Your ramdisk will be in ramdisk folder (unpacked)
Click to collapse
I then deleted the zImage in the kernel folder and replaced it with the one compiled earlier from linux-sunxi/arch/arm/boot/. The ramdisk was left alone.
10. Modify script and repack boot.img
I'm aware that Adi_pat's script is for a different device, so I modified the pack_boot.sh script to suit the a10. Line 31 becomes:
Code:
./tools/mkbootimg --kernel kernel/zImage --ramdisk ramdisk.gz -o out/boot.img --base 0x40000000 --cmdline 'console=ttyS0,115200 tw init=/init loglevel=8' --pagesize 2048
This is based on searching and the the information given when running extract.sh. The updated script can now be executed:
Code:
./pack_boot.sh
A new boot.img is created at out/boot.img.
11. Put new boot.img onto device and flash.
I copied the new boot.img into my shared folder and then onto a SD card. Using a root file explorer on the device, move the boot.img file to the /sdcard directory. Open Novo7 tools and then go to the flash boot.img option.
12. Reboot device
When the device reboots, it hangs on the first Android logo, so clearly something has been done incorrectly. Fortunately I can recover to a working device from the backup in CWM recovery in just a few minutes.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong here, and would appreciate any pointers to get it working.
I have searched and read for days, so I am sorry if I have missed a thread that answers this for me.
Many thanks in advance.

I am heavily into the allwinner tablets and would like to get CM10 install. I ran into the same issue until I build kernel 3.0.8 but you MUST put the generated NAND.KO file into the ramdisk folder and edit the init.sun4i.rc file to load it before anything else...this should get rid of the issue. I have a serial port I added to my tablet so Its a bit easier to troubleshoot and edit uboot vars when needed. If you would like to collaborate let me know.i have a 95% working android build environment that works for my tablet, only the gsensor is inverted which is a simple fix.

How to extract kallsyms from u-boot of S6(aarch64)?

Hi, I need help.
Long time ago I was looking for a way to extract kallsyms from boot/zImage (Android) without running the kernel (statically).
I found this:
at github.com look for fi01/kallsymsprint
This worked and served well for ARM32 kernels. It was able to find and extract kallsyms (offset + function name). It was limited to known 6 patterns of kallsyms locations, but still was better than nothing.
Now, new devices are coming (Samsung S6 Series, for example) based on ARM64 (aarch64). It is UBOOT images, with uncompressed kernel. The tool (above) does not work anymore.
I was trying to do some manual work and figured out following:
0xffffffc000206000 is offset of the first 3 kallsyms functions, so I was able to find where kallsyms_addresses table starts.
It was found at aarch64.img (SM-G920 kernel) at offset from 0xc19800 to 0xc96088 (size is 510088 or 0x7C888). There are 0xF911 (63761) symbols (11 F9 00 00), and kallsyms_num_syms is located at 0xc96090 (after 0x78 (120) zero bytes after table ends).
Next data block of something starts at 0xc96190
Looks like all sections inside kernel are 32-byte aligned.
I was able to find some text part at 0x007d5f90.
Something that looks like some table (maybe not related) at 0x08403504.
Another table at 0x00e8eb20 - 0x00eb6a00.
Update:
kallsyms_in_memory_addresses 0xc19790
kallsyms_in_memory_num_syms 0x0000f911 (at 0xc96090)
kallsyms_in_memory_names 0xc96190
kallsyms_type_table ? 0xd56198
kallsyms_in_memory_markers 0xd56990
kallsyms_token_table 0xd56d90
Who can give any idea how to modify the kallsymsprint code or explain how to find and extract the kallsyms?

Can you attach that image here, to take a look? It sounds like there is no ramdisk in it. There are some phones that doesn't have ramdisks in boot images.

Sure thing, just remove .zip from the file name, had to do that as it only allows 8Mb img uploads
I'm trying to edit the boot so that I might be able to make the external SD into the data drive, is this even possible or am I wasting my time?
Thanks!

Ok, I see... Your image is "lokified". In order to use my tool you need to "de-lokify" it first, then after modding you need to "re-lokify" it back. Some infos here and here. It may be many other infos but I didn't have time to do a full search; you have to do it for yourself.
Some LG and Samsung devices have that "Loki" thing and you need to deal with it. Maybe when I'll have a phone like that I'll make an automated process for it, but now I haven't and I can't work "in blind".
I don't know what to say about your last question... I'm not even sure what you're talking about.

Awesome, thanks!
basically, the LG Optimus F3 comes with too little memory built in, there's a program that mounts an external SD's second partition as a data folder, but even still it runs out of internal memory or won't install apps larger than the internal memory because the "System" partition still has little room.
so the goal was to edit the boot so it will boot using an external SD directly as the system drive, it would read it's maximum memory available as whatever the external SD's maximum is.
this would solve the problem, if it works, if not then it'll probably just brick the phone :good:
I just wanted to update and say thanks. This helped out great! I was able to successfully boot /data from my external SD card as desired, however, my card is only a class 2 so it won't be a good idea until I upgrade it to a class 10.
Lg Optimus F3 comes with very little internal storage, which was giving me a headache, so I wanted to make the phone boot using an external SD as the /data partition.
after following your tip, I unloki'd the boot image and used your Carliv Image Kitchen to extract the contents, edited the fstab and edited out the original code: "/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata /data" telling it to mount /data on the /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 instead.
after repacking and re-loking and flashing the .img it had some problems, for some reason it was just booting to a black screen, so I used dd from the team win terminal to copy the /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/userdata over to the /dev/block/mmcblk1p2, and it worked!
being a class 2, it booted slowly and responded slowly but works none the less.
to be sure there was no problem with partition size, being how I used dd to mirror userdata over to the sdcard, I ran gparted in linux and resized the partition smaller, then larger to full size (just in case)
thanks for your wonderful tool and for pointing me in the right direction.

As I already posted in recovery's thread, it will work with kitkat kernels. Some people port it to lollipop but I never recommended that.
So to answer clearly cm11 because cm12 means lollipop, or it will work with any other kitkat based ROM if your phone has any kitkat kernel released.
You need to ask the one who released that cm12 for your phone to provide a matching recovery along.
Now you probably need to reflash the phone with SPFlashTools.
ok thanks a whole lot but im having another issue the sd card is now only readable by my phone how do i go about copying a rom to it whenever i plug it into the pc it doesnt come up

Which chipset?
Hi there... I woul like to ask if this tool works for Helio x20 cpu's... (Mt6797 - Leagoo T10) because I'm trying to extract the stock recovery but having trouble with the ramdisk... It says "compression used unknown..." I've seen it mentioned in the discussion some times but the explanation was to use the 1. Metod ??? I'm using the windows 1.1 version and I really don't see any other method to use (start bat, r, 1 recovery.img, , 1 unpack image, error....) I'm just installing Ubuntu to see the difference but would be grateful for some advise... Thanks.
Since main Carlive Image Kitchen thread has been closed in 2017 all the util builds have been lost for some unknown reason. Dev claimed he have personal problems and adviced users to help each other.
I've found latest official version 1.3 builds and publish them here for practical and historic reasons. This util mentioned in a various manuals so people will look for it for a long time then. Old Linux modded version by yuweng is also added for completeness.

Furthermore user FOV5 @ 4pda.ru forums have modded latest 1.3 version a few times so I do publish here his latest modded version 1.5B3 (12-Jan-2018)
Changes history:
- v1.4: Support for some non-standard kernel images (e.g. LibreELEC and similar).
- v1.5B1:
- Removed 'Boot' and 'Recovery' prefixes from file names while unpacking Boot/Recovery images. This is due to ability to easily compare whole Boot and Recovery folders after unpacking.
- Added optional experimental AmLogic core unpacking. This could be helpful to patch storage media layout when device partition build into the core.
- v1.5B2: Fixed 32 bit app crash after core unpacking. A few other small non critical fixes.
- v1.5B3:
- New while core slitting, parameters like Name, Load Address and Entry Point are preserved.
- Fixed: New app will try to pack core only when all the 4 kernel parts are found in the unpacking folder. If core unpacking process some kind failed, one or more kernel.* files will be missing, so repack process will use original core instead of trying to assemble broken one.

If you have any questions related to this modded app version look for FOV5 user at 4pda.ru forums and ask him (I don't know does he speak any langs except Russian, online translators available anyway. There is also Russian numeric captcha problem for non-Russian speakers when loggin in to that forums, sorry guys). I do not often use this app and occasionally visit XDA, so I can't support this product in a professional manner. Help each other guys!

How modify system.fex on Allwiner H3

I modify firmware for devices with chipset AllWinner H3. My problem is that when I modify system.fex I get bootloop.
I use alwinner-kitchen (by Miniand) for pack/unpack (system.fex): mkuserimg.sh -s SRC_DIR OUTPUT_FILE ext4 MOUNT_POINT 1024M.
After experimenting, I found that when I rebuild system.fex, I get bootloop.
If I only unpack and pack the image with the firmware, when I load the firmware to the device it works.
I have suggested that I need in another kitchen, for build system.fex.
PS Sorry for my English.

[Help] Please identify the pins on my HK101 STB motherboard

Hi, I have the HK101 TV Box with s905D soc created by Foxconn. Ths OS was android 7.1.2. Please identify the part A on the photo. The pins 1 to 5 that I tested are 0v, 3.3v, 3.3v, 3.3v, 0v. I have no idea what it is. I thought the part B was TTL port. I tested the pins 1 to 4: 0, 3.3, 2.9,0 and it should be Gnd, Vcc, TX, RX but I connected with PC no result displayed. Is it possible the kernel disable the serial console? I want to root the box & I get the OTA files. How can I flash the image on the box? The USB_Burning_Tool seemed no accept the OTA file.
