Hi,
This is Sukumar. I have been using custom roms on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2(N7100) and there are times when I missed few important things while flashing roms(ex: missed few contacts as I forgot to take a backup). I thought it would be better if the roms can be tested on emulators which helps in building confidence about the stability of the rom.
I need a way to test the roms to make sure that the rom can be a daily driver so that can be flashed on my physical device.
Can you please suggest me if there is a way to test roms with an emulator on windows pc.
Nox is the best android emulator on pc according to my knowledge
You can download it from the official website and try it out
Regards milkyway3
Nox is by far the best. Imma list the ones I tried on a Windows 8 with 2GB RAM that didn't work:
Windroy
Andy-roid
Bluestacks
i might've tried droid4x, I forgot
don't use those, they either are incredibly slow or flat out do not work.

I think you got me wrong.
I want to test the roms. Not the apps. Can we flash roms to the emulator?

I just want to go through the features of the rom..
Anyway, I came to a conclusion that I need to use my physical device to test the rom which can give me better idea of where the rom can be broken.
Thanks for the info.

Using NoxPlayer 5.0.0.0 on my Windows 10 based PC and it's by far the best Android Emulator out there.
I was using Andy prior to going to NoxPlayer and it's way better then Andy and doesn't bog the system down to a crawl like Andy did on my PC.

Yeah its call "rooting". You can try rooting the current ROM (not too sure how to go about doing that) or you can flash a different ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 is a good place to start,... and you can find custom ROMS in the development section (also look at the "stickys" at the top of the development section).
Hope that helps.
thanks for the info i will try it out later. btw just a quick question since i have to go do you know anything about an emulator for this phone? for free not that i need to purchase it?

I assume he means an android emulator. If so, you can find one within the Android SDK, downloadable here: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Click around the site to figure out how to use it.
yea a gba emulator? that is free and not the light versions
1. Can coffeebun be installed without all the apps, ie, with install.txt, does anyone know if its possible, as the rom is nice, but seriously heavy on ram usage.
2. Can the gkernals be used with any custom ro., ie, djs sdrois, gstreak 244, or would the mbns have to be reflashed.
Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, i did ask the rom author but got absolutley no reply, and i need to sort this rom out.
If anyone can help me id really appreciate it.
you can directly use gkernel
hope that solves

Yair can i suggest to u something? Instead of porting different roms all the time u schould focus on fixing the bugs and updating the other roms... bocouse there is no point of just porting the roms and leave them. just a suggestion

I have micromax a102 with 1 gigs of ram, running on android 4.2.2 kitkat and TWRP 3.1.1 installed. I request you to make me an Oreo custom ROM because the stock rom hangs too and takes a lot of storage.
Thank you.

Try to be a little bit nicer with newbies ( nevermind , check @zelendel post below )
To answer the question , search on Google before asking , if there aren't any rom , it won't be possible ( except if there is a rom developer out there )

Oreo would only make is lag worse. With that device the best bet you have is a slimmed down android Go rom but again with that device that may not help much. 1gb of ram is bearly enough to run the OS.
So what can I do now?
please tell me how to unlock bootloader of my phone.

It's not that simple. You'll need to learn a lot about coding in order to be anywhere close to doing it. It's not copy pasting stuff here and there or installing from a backup.

Ok, seeing that you are pretty serious about this, contact this guy as he has experience in porting Mi A2 stock camera to custom roms
I hear you !

Since you're a noob, I can't think of anything easier than this for you
Go through the ports which are already available (like Mi A2) (must be xiaomi)
See what files the dev used to get the camera working on non-miui roms
To give you rough idea there will be xiaomi framework , some xmls, libs etc.
Try replicating those exact files from your stock firmware and create a flashable zip or directly paste em into root
Also try contacting the dev of that camera and see if he agrees to help you out !
Ask him if you face any trouble throughout.
Ignore people who are discouraging,
Today a noob, tomorrow a pro
Thanks a lot. I trialed and error-ed and came to same method you mentioned below.

My Poco is arriving in 3 days, I might just test your port and solve a few problems after I unlock my bootloader.
