Just downloaded it last night, and it seems like a striped down version of the Android Version...S Health is missing a lot of options. Why did they even bother...

Hi,
Since Samsung is not interested in open Gear Fit data to non-samsung device, even after install apks from Samsung device, I still cannot sync or store my fitness history on my nexus 5. So, I'm not talking about sideload apk to non-Samsung device here.
Gear Fit is just a bluetooth device, if we can understand the communication protocol between Samsung app and Gear Fit, we can create our own fitness app, and sync the data to anywhere we like, such as Dropbox or Google Drive. And maybe we can utilize the protocol to do something further than original Samsung apps. And it will also be possible to connect the latest Google Fit service.
Is there anyone hacking this Gear Fit device?
Gear Fit is not interesting device for devs and nobody is working on this device, because at the first place Gear Fit has only RealTime-OS which in not Android. And you can't do very much with it.
If you want to make app just read thread about Gear Fit SDK.
Hi i know this is old post but i anyone still searching it may be helpful.
i am using openfit app which can sync goolge fit data and other features like original gear fir manager.
so i can use my gear fit with my asus zenfone 2, easyly sync and track fitness data with google fit
I don't know if the same solution of gear fit2 fits to gear fit, but is extremely simple to connect the gear fit2 to a Non-Samsung phone.
You must download APK from Google Play (there are some service around) and install them:
- Samsung Gear
- Samsung Gear Fit2 Plugin
5 minutes and you have the same of a Samsung Phone.
It works like a charm on my Asus Zenfone 2.
Hope it helps

Yes, Gear Fit 2 is made to connect on ALL android phone (like Gear S2 and Gear S3) unlike Gear 1 & 2 & S & Gear Fit (1).

This is wrong. Samsung blocked installation of its programs into non samsung phones. I had to download them manually.

Wrong, I have Fit2 on my Sony Z5C and Samsung Gear Manager is on Google Playstore for all android phone (RAM at least 1.5Go)

I recently got a Gear 2. I like the Tizen system, but it really lacks with customization. I can't use anything from the play store and their store leaves a lot to be desired. Is it possible to downgrade to and Android system on a Gear 2?im pretty positive you can revert back to it from Tizen on the Galaxy Gear because you're just stepping back into the original system. But because the Gear 2 came with Tizen out of the box, am I stuck with this system? I'm sure there will be roms and other good things to come in the future with the Gear 2, but I would love to have Nova Launcher and Google Now at my wrist. And I'm stumped with Tizen.
Really want some Android!

hello.
just got my watch a few days ago and am curious to those who decided to switch out the rom to have full android on their watch.
now we all know samsung had to do a lot to make this watch a companion with the phone so the software on it plus the gear manager on the phone give it the ability to be controlled properly. when you install real android on it you lose this functionality ... sure there are a few apps out there that can do that (forward notifications) but mostly they suck.
i am not a fan of actually using my watch as a real phone because of its battery capacity.
please share your reason ....
I switched to have full android on the watch so I could use the Gear S as a daily driver.
I'm using it to replace my Omate Truesmart that I've been using as my standalone phone for the last 6 months.

I switched from the mobile operating system ties into Android because I personally have more functionality with Android, and not only does that beautiful display play flappy bird flawlessly, there's a lot of other random ass I can cram on to the tiny screen. You think all the screen so small I'm not going to be able to type take it off your wrist use both hands it's not that big of a deal. Not only that if you use SwiftKey it's an amazing keyboard for such a small device Haven you at T maps to then changed where your fingers maybe a little bit bigger for some parts of the screen or too small. Google has a few really nice apps that are basically made to run on anything my tracks for instance it's one of the best app I've ever used for tracking my speed and distance as well as calories burned. It's not an app but it's my favorite and the fact that I can use it on such a small display is very convenient. I'll finish this article up in a bit alright about 10 more reason why I prefer it, I'm just riding my bike right now and using Google Voice on my gear s to type this
mmm.... and what about cardio and steps counter? Can you use them with S-health in your phone even with Android installed ?
Hello All!
I have a samsung Gear S SM-R750.
I use an application on my android phone, XDrip +, to monitor the blood glucose of my 7 year old daughter ... I can not pass this information to the clock.
my Gear S is running Tizen
I tried installing the wearable widget on the clock, but I could not. It does not appear in the galaxy store anymore to download. in the part of the cell I installed and configured, but in the clock I could not. apparently samsung no longer supports this application for this version of tizen that run on Gear S.
Anyone could help, have any tips?
I tried installing the wearable widget using a .WGT but I did not find it to download.
another option I'm thinking would be to install android Wear on the clock, but I could not confirm if using it I'll be able to use the clock to receive information from XDrip +
thx
I've looked all over and some sites tell me Duo is not compatible with Galaxy Wearable and others say it is, what is the truth? I have a Galaxy Watch 3 connected to the Duo, I am able to get notifications, use Samsung Pay, and adjust the stock faces and settings. I am Not able to download new faces or access the store at all. I am wondering if I am missing something or is wearable just not 100% compatible with Duo?
Hey! I ran into the same thing, moving from a Samsung phone to a non Samsung phone for the first time with my galaxy watch was an adjustment. If you open the galaxy wear app and click discover at the bottom and click view more it will take you to a visibly different version of the watch app store. You can buy new apps, access your purchased apps, works totally fine.
