viper4android or viper4arise - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys. I realise that nougat 7.1.1 (NMF26F) sound quite low. I tried searching and found this two mod. can someone tell what are difference and is it working with nougat?. thank you

It saved the update for me. sound is not good for me on stock 7.1.1. Comes at the price of disabled selinux to make it work though. Google dev is aware of issue, lets see how much they care.

Should I root?

For all those people out there asking the same question (not many), I have a RS988 that I bought the beginning of 2017 and im kind of in and out of saying I want to root. Should I?
No
There are some nice mods that work very well with the rs988. The stereo speaker mod works great and the viper audio mod. Still no ROMs yet so if thats all your after then not worth rooting. I like playing with mods and changing build.prop settings and just tinkering so I went ahead and installed twrp and rooted.

Bad Audio Quality on Video Recording

hello guys. i have some issue with video recording audio. its really bad. its like low bitrate quality 3gp/amr audio.
just a hunch, i think this has to do with fluence (some sort of noise cancelation technology by qualcomm)
yes im using custom rom (specificlaly im using NOS 19 06 2017) BUT... hear me out first..
in the old build of other rom such as RR and NOS, the audio is really great and very close quality to stock miui rom. crisp an clear audio.
then lately (since mid may) all those roms build somehow adapt to something caused the audio on video recording to drop significantly.
yes, you may tell me to use the old build. but the old build is not really as buttery smooth as today, not to mention lots of bug been fixed in latest build, great battery life too, and miui is not really an option.
i believe for those who use custom roms like i do,having this issue as well. ive tried AEX, RR, PureNexus. all have this issue.
i hope someone out there who familiar with this issue know whats going on with this roms audio implementation. perhaps, could work out some solution.
example of the audio can be viewed in the youtube video link below. all using stock camera.
bad audio on 03 october 2017 build (oreo):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7XdSkuhFuA
bad audio on 19 june 2017 build (nougat):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9qBjx0Fw14
crystal clear audio on 14 march 2017 build (nougat):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=udqxt71cUHw
thanks.

i have yet to found a fix. had no choice other than using old build. ??*
Have you receive or still nothing? Thank you. I'm confusing when i record audio is terrible.
Have u NOS build march? Give me some links.
If you would like to get the best camera and video quality, then surely for the MIUI cuz that will only give you the best audio quality with any recording. Alternatively you can try the Google Camera HDR+, although it crashes quite often! That too is good.
Any solution? I'm facing this issue too.
This issue is like Nexus 5, except there isn't any solution around until now.
Magisk modules and other zips do not work. Flashing new firmware prior to flashing NOS did not do justice either. Disabling Google Now should not be the solution, for if that isn't the problem in NOS March build, then it has to be something else.
I tried to discuss about this in few groups outside XDA and surprisingly it did not come to their attention.
Bottom line is, if there's anyone who can fix this, I'd even give a fee.
The link below may give pointers on how to go about fixing the issue, but it is not for RN3
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...ix-fixing-bad-sound-video-recording-t3523171/
I just dislike the idea of going back to a build so old just for better mic quality. However if there are any AOSP ROMs whose mic quality is still good, you can let us know as well

I read on mi a1 forum that changing the fluence type to fluencepro in buildprop improves the audio quality but I haven't tried it

I've tried, it doesn't work.
Developers can come to the Q&A section and answer a few random questions they know the answer to, but they don't. Then we end up with lazy amateur users like me, who don't answer the questions or don't know the answer....

When will be the final firmware published

Hey Guys,
I'm using my z5c with 32.4.a.0.160. There are lots of issues even with disabling the movie creator app.
I wonder when will the final update come. Do you guys think our devices get android 8.0 ?
LOL. Nope. I think the current update (7.1.1) will be the last update. Android 8.0 is confirmed *not coming* to the Z5 line.

I have updated to .160 too and I don't have any issues, actually it's even better than 7.0 for me. I flashed an ftf, factory reset it and then flashed all my mods and it's been all good until now.
Also, there is a small chance we might get official 8.0 but i wouldn't count on it. It will only happen if a lot of Z5 series owners make a statement and demand the update. However, I don't count on that, judging on how things are developing.. Be sure though, there will be custom ROMS on 8.0

Custom roms unless proven otherwise will also probably mean loss of some camera features, loss of active noise cancelling and stereo(binaural) recordings with sony earphones,
no more radio FM RDS tuner, etc.
Sadly, Count me out !

We are from the old days, Sony is more developer friendly now and they release the kernel source and drivers. There is no reason why they should not work after some patching... The camera could be the casualty here though, you might be right.

Suggest me best ROM that fits me.

Hi,
I'd like to ask for help. At the moment, im using Pixel Exprience. It fits me well, but also got some problems, like apps crashing, also got some problems with microphone (my girlfriend gets mad everytime, when I call her and she can't hear me every few seconds) etc.
I am not sure, if better choice will be some good, stable ROM based on Nougat, or I should try other from Oreo?
The device I am using is x820 6/64.
And if it's important, I like to change themes with substratum, maybe it cause app crashes? No idea for other app like that. There was some warning on the app, that "rooted substratum" might cause problems, but I am not so advanced with apps to know any other replacement for this app.
Love black themes with one colored (blue or red etc.) details.
I was thinking about:
Nougat: Silm7, Ressurection Remix
Oreo: Ressurection Remix, PixelRevenge (but its still beta).
Maybe there is some other awesome, stable ROMs, that will fit me?
Waiting for your answears, and thank you for them
I have tried about 10 different custom ROMs on this phone and haven't still found the perfect one, but close to the perfect is AOSIP for me It's superfast, no lags, almost no glitches (Camera app used to crash but I fixed it by installing Open Camera). SOT is also great. I only had some random issues with call sound quality (microphone - outgoing), but now for some days seems I hopefully managed to fix that using India 19s modem firmware (I have X829 phone). So you can try it too. But to be honest all the roms (especially Android 7.1 and Oreo) has issues with call sound quality. Maybe It's some hardware problem with only my phone.

Maybe is Le Max 2 problem, because my mic (outgoing) also have problems. I hold phone all the time the same way, and my girlfriend once hear me, once not, like I am blocking the microphone with my hand.
Is it possible for you, to attach links for those ROMs? I am at work currently, and after I come back to home I wish to start changing ROM.
Yeah I got exactly the same problem. People randomly couldn't hear me, like I am blocking microphone.

It should definitely fit. Just check if you have really flashed it after flashing (in System-About phone tab it should show Baseband version MPSS.TH.2.0.c1.9-00033 ).

Wonderfull, I'll try it in next 5 hours, hope it will fit me well! I'll respond here, after doing it
Yup. It is much smoother, but it not translated 100% in Polish laungange. It's not problem for me tho. Going to test it more.
I am waiting for few more updates and than will try RR Oreo. Have experience with AOISP and AICP, never measured Antutu score nor battery, I charge it often, keeping between 40-90%, but deal breaker with AOISP is that during call i could hardly hear anything ,also , person i would be talking to, coud not hear me well either, it is better on AICP.
sinc eI got phone recently , only use Oreo Roms.
Slim7 very good. Zero problem.

Hey! How are your tests? Do you still have problem with incoming sound on calls with India modem 19s?
I am testing also RR 6 rom. Seems also not bad, only SOT is worse than on AOSIP. Call sound quality might be even better.
Noob question
So, I m noob in this.
I Have and Leeco Max 2(x820) with original ROM.
I want to upgrade my Leeco, but in all threats I have some issues about every rom.
I know that always have some bugs, but, some of them are really uncomfortable like Front camera reboot phone, any others.
I what know, what I win with change a rom, and what are the rom more stable for my case.
Camera, bluetooth, QC are indispensable.
You should try like Official LineageOS CM-14.1 (7.1.2), most of android 7 will be stable, especially the official ones.

Best non-stock rom for mido

Hello. It's me again, with another part of whole process called "make your smartphone just like you".
I've got this nice and shiny phone for about a month or so, I was able to unlock it on the second try (not sure why myfriends decided to turn it down the first time, but don't think that matters now), now I'll like to install custom TWRP 3.2.1.0. I've read today, that I do not need to make a factory reset after doing so. Is it correct? Is it just a misunderstanding?
Anyway, which custom rom do You consider to be the best? I would of course like to have newest Android, instead of being still in version 7 (which is not bad, but if it could be better, why shouldn't I use it?).
I do not have any specific features that I would like to have, but having plenty of configuration options is always nice.
For other options I do not really have an opinion, what should be important and what should be irrelevant. I've read that You could improve photo quality by using this stuff, but I'm not sure is it true or not. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
If it would be possible, I would gladly accept FHD recording in 60 FPS (not sure if this is available in stock) and MAYBE (if possible again) better quality of night photos. Far the most important thing is battery life and no bugs. If the rom is having issues with getting network, gps, bluetooth or anything else, I'm dropping it at once. Also, stability and ability to work without reseting itself or crashing is wanted by me. I've also heard that some mods could be quieter than stock and I would also like to avoid that. And some extra points will be granted for mod WITHOUT most of the google apps, since I'm not using them and actually deleting them from any rooted phone. From what I remember, installing new ones has not been a problem, even on stock phone, but uninstalling them when You get it on start is pain the neck.
Thanks for any help that might be useful!
you've posted thread in wrong neighbourhood
anyways post here https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4 in order to get more help suggestions regarding Mido
Oh, one more thing - I did not specify it before. My CPU is Snapdragon, so I believe it makes a difference.
OmniROM, NitrogenOS, ResurrectionRemix 6.0 all should be good to go, you can look through the respective threads to see what extra functionality/customization they offer and then decide.
Personally i recommend flashing FrancoKernel over (compatible with all above).
Also flash Nano or Pico Gapps if you want bare minimum google package.
I'm right now on Omni.

An extensive list of Oreo ROMs for mido is here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/help/extensive-list-oreo-roms-mido-t3741277
Take your pick. I prefer ROMs based on AOSP-CAF, because they tend to be lean and skinny.
As far as camera is concerned, it all depends on your camera sensor. I have a Samsung sensor, and I find cstark27 mods of GCam very good - see https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-cstark27/
Ok, I'll look into it. Next question – how do I check which camera sensor do I have?

You will need to search the forum for that.
I'm also curious about this. I just ordered a Redmi Note 4 Global, 4/64 (mido) and I'm trying to figure out which Oreo ROM I should go with: Pixel Experience or unofficial LOS 15.1. I'm leaning towards the latter because of that sweet Treble support, but I don't know if it's more stable than Pixel Experience or not. Or if there's a ROM more stable than those two.
I'm interested in installing Magisk, the Xposed Oreo beta, Viper4Android, various Xposed modules and root apps. I want to stay away from SuperSU and SuperUser because they don't pass SafetyNet, AFAIK.

That is good. You may also want to try Arnova's V6 GCam mod. That seems to be even better than cstark27.
